Mail Not Appearing

When I click on the "Mail Icon" in my dock, mail opens and it says "Mail" in the top bar, however, no window opens. I cannot view any emails at all. If I right click on the "mail" icon, I can open a new message, but it does not send. Do you know how to make my inbox window appear?

When I select "window" then "message viewer" a white box pops up, but there is nothing in it.
Can you post a Grab of that Window?

To insert images into your post, use the <img>-tag. Note that the image you want to use in your post needs to be hosted online (e.g. on your .Mac website, etc.); you can not upload images to Apple Discussions.
For example...

displays the file stored at your specified location....
Is this an IMAP or POP account?To be safe...
First I'd backup these two Mail folders, by right clicking on them in the Finder, then choose Archive/Compress.
Users/YourUserName/Library/Mail
Users/YourUserName/Library/Mail Downloads
Quit Mail, Right click on that Mail folder, choose archive, you'll get everything in the folder, and the folder itself in a file called Mail.zip, move it to a safe place, same for the Mail Downloads folder... only the plist is separate.
Try dragging this file to the desktop in case we need to put it back later, then logout/in...
/Users/YourUserName/Library/Preferences/com.apple.mail.plist

Mail not appearing as HTML - Mail Adapter

Hello All,
I'm using the mail package in a receiver mail adapter. During mapping I format the content in HTML format, using < > form < and >. Also I set the content type of the mail package to text/html. However when the mail is received, the content of the mail is the html with tags, it does not appear as an html page. When I see the source the file still has the escape characters instead of < and >. But when I save this as an html file and open it, it appears as a web page.
Any thoughts?

HI,Specify whether you want to encode the content of the e-mail message. You have the following options:
·        None
·        base64 (default value)
·        quoted-printable
use quoted-printable
Coding of characters in e-mails that are not contained in the ASCII character set.
The code contains German umlauts and special characters

Sent mail not appearing in icloud

I use my macbook air, iphone and my ipad to send mail from my @me.com account. But when i send an email from my macbook it does not appear in the sent mail folder on icloud. The iphone and ipad both work properly if i send mail from either device it appears in the icloud sent mail folder.
I've been trough the settings on my macbook and have the "Store sent messages on sever" option ticked, and the email accoutn is set up as an IMPA account but it still doesn't work.
Any ideas how to fix this?

Same here! Works on my iPad, iPhone and MacAir. But on my PowerMac the sent mail doesn't show up at all. I can't even find the messages I've tried to send so I can try retype them and resend on my iPhone.
Does your "sent" folder continually beach ball? Mine is non-stop beach balls. Like it's trying really hard to update the sent folder but ran into a Sysiphus stone.

AOL mail not appearing on macbook

If I log into AOL through Safari, I often find that I have emails at AOL.com that do not appear in my mail notices on my Macbook pro, but if I look at my ipod, they are always there. Is there some setting that I need to change on the laptop?

I tried deleting my account on my iPhone 4 and re-enter my settings. But still was getting empty e-mails. I shutdown my iPhone 4 completely and then i restarted it and now all my e-mail appear with text in the body of the e-mail.

Sent mail not appearing in Internet mail box

I have recently been using Mail on iMac and while I can receive and view all emails on it. But strange thing is that whatever I sent from Mail on the iMac, it just appeared on the Mail Sent box but do not appear on the internet version of email sent box or anywhere in the internet version. I do have an iPhone and the sent mail from the iMac Mail cannot be found too. However, receiptents do receive my emails anyway. It is frustrating and disappointed that this happened and unable to do work on my iMac in this way especially when I am travelling and away from my desk.
Currently I am using Yahoo! .sg mail with IMAP and has checked thoroughly, including the outgoing server. Did many delete and re-installing but this does not seem to work. Maybe there are some steps that I have overlooked, or improper installation, could somebody help?

I find that perhaps one message in ten is not saved to my sent folder. I am using .mac mail. I am storing sent messages on the server, draft messages locally.
It seems that some kind of timeout on port 143 prevents the message from being copied to the sent folder, although the message is actually sent.
This is clearly a bug. Even if there is a communication failure, the message should remain accessible somewhere, not drift off into the ether. It would be far preferable to risk sending twice by holding the outgoing message in drafts until the move to sent completes.

Mail - Yahoo IMAP sent mail not appearing

Hi all,
I've been trying to troubleshoot this without much success. I've an iphone and a MBP running Lion. I've several Yahoo and Gmail accounts, and they are all set up as IMAP accounts.
Receiving and viewing messages are fine. However, if I were to send an email using one of the Yahoo accounts via Mail on the MBP, it gets sent successfully, but that email does not appear within the 'server' sent mailbox, nor within my iPhone mail app. Gmail seems to work fine.
I've highlighted each relevant 'sent' mailbox on my mac and set it to 'Use this mailbox' within the Mailbox menu, but it has not made a difference.
Any ideas on how to resolve this?

Sending is done via SMTP. What happened here is that SMTP accepted the mails for sending (thus, the mail client put them in the sent folder). From that moment on, SMTP needs to actually deliver mails to the recipient(s). Until this has happened, mails stay in the mail queue of your mail server.
You did not mention if the mails got eventually delivered, so here is a list of some possible reasons for late delivery or non-delivery:
-Receiving mail server does not respond
-Connectivity issues
-amavisd not running
-Mail got flagged as spam (non-delivery). This would happen if you are trying to send mail from a blacklisted IP (like dynamic IPs) and your mail server is not configured to bypass spam scans for authenticated users.

Mail not appearing in notification center... Also, gears not appearing in the mail app.

I tried to configure my mac to enable it to receive mails in the notification center but cant. i have tried to send an email from other IDs but havent received any banner or alert while using my mac. i have checked the show alerts and banners in notification center. Do i have to keep the window of the mail app in a specific position to receive alerts in the notification centre? Also, the gears are not appearing in the mail app when i fetch for new mail. please help..

I'm also having this problem.
Notifications receives alerts from Reminders app, but not Mail.
I've set preferences in Mail for 'Inbox Only' and 'All Mailboxes', sent test mail from ISP webmail and Google (Mail is not setup to receive from this account) - still no notifications.
I had previously used Growl (v1.4) and GrowlMail very successfully (with 10.7), but while upgrading to Mountain Lion I was informed that GrowlMail was incompatible so I deleted it.
While testing this problem of not receiving Mail Notifications I have disabled Growl and rebooted.
Like others here:
Checked: Notifications setup
Checked: Mail setup
Rebuilt permissions
Rebooted
Any help would be very gratefully received.

Events received in Mail not appearing in iCal

My fiancee is having some problems with iCal. When she receives an event it used to (and still does on my machine) appear in iCal automatically, whether she had read the email or not. Now, to get an event from Mail into iCal she has to open the attachment.
Does anyone know what's going on and how to fix it?

Is she receiving them as iCal event invitations from an iCal user?
If so, for me anyway, these do show up directly in iCal without opening them in Mail. And as you're aware, they are counted up with the little red number on the iCal icon down in the Dock.
Now when I get invitations for my iCal from OUTLOOK (non-iCal, basically) users, this never happens. I have to explicitly open the invite in Mail, double-click the icon to get it over into iCal, etc.
If you're talking about pure iCal-to-iCal invites, I agree, her system is not working as mine does or I would expect it to. Maybe take a look into iCal -> Preferences? --DG

Attachements on Mail not appearing correctly!

Attachjments in mail appear as winmail.dat files yet on yahoo mail via Safari they appear correctly as els files etc - any ideas?

Unfortunately not. Do you think its the way that the Windows user is attaching the files? Apparently they can send via program eg Excel or from Outlook.

Incoming mail not appearing in inbox on my macbook

Hi, Up until yesterday my mail was synching fine. Yesterday, all of sudden the incoming mail appears to be happening but the new messages are not in my inbox on my macbook. The messages are synching to my iPad.
I tried rebuilding mail; rebooting; also repairing permissions per the other messages in this area. Any other suggestions?

Cloud mail not appearing on my computer

Some mail messages are appearing on my iPhone but not onto my laptop, I'm fully clouded up and need to work on the emails on my mac, any ideas as to why this would suddenly happen? All has worked well up to now.

Well despite having restarted my Mac 2 times yesterday I just restarted it again, it froze when it got to the desktop picture, I had to do a hard reset and it booted properly this time and hey Presto, all the missing mail is now there. Odd stuff indeed.

Mail not appearing on iphone

Hi, I am using a single exchange 2003 server SP2 and the account I have set up on the iphone has verified but I am unable to see my mail in the Inbox. I have switched SSL off and this makes no difference. On my exchange 2007 server it works perfectly. I have enabled mobile access on the server.

Mail not appearing in inbox.

When I click on get mail incoming mail is loaded and the number next to the inbox icon shows that I have unread messages, but they don't show up in the folder. I have to quit out of the Mail app, and reopen it to get messages to appear. A co-worker's computer has the same problem except reopening Mail doesn't fix the problem.

I am not sure I understand your question, "...how many total messages are available in the account's inbox mailbox?" I have checked, using webmail, how full each of the accounts are and they are no where near full (10%-20%), is that what you are asking?
I have a similar problem on two machines.
#1 G4 Powerbook running 10.4.4, it was purchased with 10.4.? and has had a few software updates. Problem: When the Mac Mail Application is opened, new messages will be loaded but none of the messages will appear in the message list window. The mailbox will show that I have unread messages, but they do not show up in my list. When I quit the application and restart it the messages will show up in the list as unread.
#2 G4 Emac running 10.3.9, it was purchased with who knows what and the school district installed an image with 10.3.9. It has not been updated. Problem: : When the Mac Mail Application is opened, new messages will be loaded but none of the messages will appear in the message list window. The mailbox will show that I have unread messages, but they do not show up in my list. Restarting the application does not solve the problem.

Photos suddenly are embedding in mail, not appearing as attachments

I LOVE iPhoto and have used it for a long time, rapidly dragging .jpg fies directly from iPhoto into mail, sending to my Windows colleagues who can open them with ease. Suddenly, today, the images no longer appear as attachments but are, instead, imbedded in the mail and not "retrieveable" by the recipient. Please help!! Use this many times a day and can't figure out what is wrong. Have also gone to iPhoto>Share and tried that way with same result. THANKS!!

Control-click on the photos and select View as Icon in the contextual menu. That will get you what you want.
TIP: For insurance against the iPhoto database corruption that many users have experienced I recommend making a backup copy of the Library6.iPhoto (iPhoto.Library for iPhoto 5 and earlier) database file and keep it current. If problems crop up where iPhoto suddenly can't see any photos or thinks there are no photos in the library, replacing the working Library6.iPhoto file with the backup will often get the library back. By keeping it current I mean backup after each import and/or any serious editing or work on books, slideshows, calendars, cards, etc. That insures that if a problem pops up and you do need to replace the database file, you'll retain all those efforts. It doesn't take long to make the backup and it's good insurance.
I've created an Automator workflow application (requires Tiger or later), iPhoto dB File Backup, that will copy the selected Library6.iPhoto file from your iPhoto Library folder to the Pictures folder, replacing any previous version of it. It's compatible with iPhoto 6 and 7 libraries and Tiger and Leopard. Just put the application in the Dock and click on it whenever you want to backup the dB file. iPhoto does not have to be closed to run the application, just idle. You can download it at Toad's Cellar. Be sure to read the Read Me pdf file.
Note: There's now an Automator backup application for iPhoto 5 that will work with Tiger or Leopard.
