Mail not displaying names in "From" field correctly

In my address book, I have people's names and their E-Mail addresses. It automatically completes the field when I send it; however, when I receive E-Mails from my contacts, it doesn't fill their name in. For instance, sometimes it just lists their E-Mail address, even though it is in my Address Book. Sometimes it gives the name they entered on their E-Mail server, not as the name I gave them.
Is there any way to rectify this problem?

Does that mean that I am going to have to tell ALL of my friends here in Japan to mess around with the way there phone stores/sends their addresses? OR will I be forced to get Docomo, AU and all of the mobile carriers in Japan to change their system???
There has to be a better answer...
If anyone in Japan has sorted this out, please let me know.

We just upgraded from Messenger server 5.x to 6.2.
On 5.x email messages that were sent by the Messenger Server were received and viewed with the displayName in the From field of the message.
This is no longer the case with 6.2
We would like to restore this functionality. I'm hoping there is a setting that we set somewhere.
Examples:
From field from a 5.x message would appear as : Bob Walker<[email protected]>
From field from a 6.2 message appears as: [email protected]

If you're using iPhoto as your email client a sent version is not created. You need to BCC yourself in order to get a copy.
The better solution is to use Mail as your email client in conjunction with Gmail. This will give you a sent copy, better access to your contacts and, if so desired, photo templates to use via Mail's stationary feature.

0vendor is not displaying name attribute when I maintained master data.
Details: I have four records in the 0vendor infoobject (sand box). I have to show these four records to the client. As i have free hands I maintained master data in the name field and finally activated master data. But when I add the name attribute to the vendor charecteristic in the query designer; it is displaying name attribute as # . Any idea how to display the names of the four vendors in the zquery.
Also do you know the transaction to copy standard query to Zquery?

Yes, you can copy the standard query very well.
Open the Standard query & using SAVE AS, you can copy to "Z" queries.

Phonebook not displaying names in groups.

Hi
I just got a new macbook pro and when I connected my iphone to it, it erased all my contacts. So I manually put them in but now instead of displaying them by letter, eg-A-NAMES,B-NAMES,C-NAME,D-NAMES. It just shows one single list of people.
Does anybody know what I can do to fix it.

It depends on if your iphone is not displaying your contacts alphabetically or is address book not displaying names alphabetically.
If it is the iphone, go to home screen > settings > phone and check the contacts section to see how the names are supposed to be sorted and displayed.
If you have the settings correct, try power-cycling or resetting the iphone.
Both shut the power down so you can turn back on. This link will help.

If it is the address book that is having the issue, check the address book preferences to see how the names are supposed to be sorted and displayed.
If these are set correctly, you can rename your address book preference file.
To rename the file:
Make sure you quit out of address book.
Open finder and drag the following file to the desktop.
~\library\preferences\apple.com.AddressBook.plist
This will reset any preferences you have set in address book.

Incoming mail not displaying?

Incoming mail not displaying?, appears to download but does not display. Began today. Nothing has changed with computer hardware or software. Mail working fine on iPhone. Any suggestions?

Usually after about a couple of minutes use.
Not one particular message - it will freeze for a moment then completely crash
It seems to have solved it self now though.
I can view my text.
Used CCleaner to clear all cache, under the mail app and all miscellaneous cache too.
Restarted laptop and works a treat now.
Curious as to whether it was due to the upgrade to Maverick though

Mavericks Mail - Not displaying Smart Addresses Correctly

Using OS X 10.9.1. If I add a contact into Contacts (formerly Address Book), Mail does not display the smart address for that contact. But if I remove the email address from the contact entry in Contacts, Mail shows the email address as a smart address (hiding the email address and only displaying the name). Please see the attached image example.
Unchecking and re-checking Smart Address in Mail's Preferences is not fixing the issue. Rebuilding Mail has not worked, and neither is restarting.
Does anyone have an idea as to what is going on?

I see exactly the same behaviour in 10.9.1, but unfortunatelly so far didn't find a workaround for it.
But I can offer a slight bit more insight into it: When switching to classic view, the Smart Address is not used in the list view of all available mails, but is used correctly in the mail itself ... same holds true for your case. If you open the mail and look at the displayed name within it, the Smart Address will be used.
It somehow seems to be a bug in Mail to me, since an inconsistent behaviour between the two views seems everything but not wanted. I already submitted a bug report, but maybe an additional report from your side might be helpfull.
It would be also good to know if anyone else is seeing exactly the same inconsistency, simply to narrow down the possible glitch...

Mail: Display Name in "To:" Field

In the mail app To: field a display name is associated with an email address. For a particular email address I want to remove this association.
(apols this is difficult to explain).
I am a member of an email group called TriLondon (at) yahoogroups (dot) co (dot) uk. A while back I wanted to be able to send automated reminders to this group via iCal. As I remember at the time I added this email as part of my profile in address book. When I recieve a message from this group the from field displays "Steven Lord" (ie my name) and when I send to it the to field displays "Steven Lord".
This is now very confusing and I no longer want this associated. I have removed that email address from my profile in address book but still if I recieve an email or send an email to TriLondon (at) yahoogroups (dot) co (dot) uk it shows as Steven Lord in the to / from field.
HELP !! I'm pulling my hair out trying to fix this.

I don't have to log in to send to this group.
Before any of this happened I could send an email to that group from Mail app on my mac. In order to be able to automatically send reminders to that group via iCal (I no longer need to be able to do this) I added an address to my profile in Address App. So I added the email address under my card in Address App.
That resulted in any mail being received from the above group being labelled as coming from me.. ie Steven Lord. It's annoying and I've finally decided to try and sort it out.
So...
In Address App I've removed the email address trilondon 'at' etc... from my card in there. However, within Mail app any email coming from that email address is still labelled as Steven Lord.

Caller ID for incoming calls NOT displaying name from contacts (only displays phone # on BB Z10)

on the Z10 Whenever I receive an incoming call, the caller ID only shows the phone #, even when I have that number matched to a contact in the phone, even the call log it show the number and not the name. Thank you Arsen but, as with everyone else : (1) When you get an in-coming call, it has no call log on the phone app call log that allows you do a thing under the sun except to touch the number of the last call, and when you do, it CALLS THEM BACK. (2) On every other BlackBerry I have owned, about 10 to-date, I simply selected the last in-coming call and had a button at the bottom of the screen to allow me to ADD TO CONTACTS. (3) This does NOT exist on the Z10, and there certainly is no "Click on number, little slider pops on the right, select add to contact." Instead it dials them. Frustrating other uses have described Arsen. Further, while on the topic : (4) None of this has anything to do with 10-digit national dialing plan or anything else on swipe finger down from top in Phone App, Arsen. (5) When you swipe Phone App down, you see SETTINGS. Then, there are 13 items. I have looked at all 13 items and see nothing as you describe to select, nor any instructions on what to set the SMART DIALING to when there are 3 area codes local for my city and country code shows +1. Further, while on topic here : (6) Visual Voice Mail has been turned-on and whatever visual voice mail is, never supported on any previous BlackBerry including my 9780 before this, I have it with T-Mobile and have it turned on on the BlackBerry Z10 and it too does not work. On the positive side, I do have a work-around for BlackBerry Z10 to 2013 Toyota entune. (7) I first took a vm msg .wav file of just hello (blank will not send) and saved it on BlackBerry Z10. The Toyota entune is LOOKING for a music and will LOCK-UP if none are found. By giving it this, it worked on my 2013 Toyota entune for the 1st time ever. Yeah ! It is a little frustrating every few minutes listening to myself say HELLO. (8) What I did now was to go into Navigation and remove SYNC with MUSIC. I accomplished that after pairing to Z10 to 2013 Toyota, by CANCELLING ALL CONNECTIONS leaving only the pairing itself. Then, you must choose some connections in the pairing section of SET-UP within Navigation itself. If you cannot even get to that point, try depressing on the Navigation Screen, INTERNET at which point it will allow you access to SET-UP when you see the message NO ENTUNE APP FOUND ON YOUR BlackBerry Z10. Mail not displaying Exchange emails sent from iOS devices

Got 10.7.2 on my MBP and iOS 5 on iPad and iPhone, all synced to my account on my company's Exchange 2003 server. Emails that I send from either iOS device do not appear in the 'Sent' mailbox on the MBP. Incoming mails all display correctly on all devices.
This only happens for the Exchange account – other IMAP (inc MobileMe) sent mails all sync OK. Is this just because the cheapskates won't move to Exchange 2007? Is there a work-around?

Well, it took about an hour but it looks like I'm back up and running.
Apparently, as Mail is retrieving messages it doesn't like to show them to you. So I went from 8/21/13 to tday instantly after almost an hour long background sync.

I'm not sure what's going on. I use Apple Mail with my cable ISP's email service and I use Yahoo and Gmail both, but I strictly view them using the web based interface. I've never tried to set up either one to be viewed in Apple Mail so I don't think I can offer much advice.

Mail not displaying inline images correctly

This is not a problem specific to Lion, but most recent OS X versions. Regularly I receive email formatted as HTML, which includes JPEG images embedded within them. These images are technically attachments, and as such, Mail.app displays them as a placeholder. Other mail apps will display these images inline, regardless of them being an attachment, remote image or otherwise.
How can I make these images load automatically?

No-one replied, but I found a solution on another board. Run Terminal (do a Spotlight search if you don't know where to find this), and type:
defaults write com.apple.mail DisableInlineAttachmentViewing -bool false
This will force Mail not to disable inline attachment viewing. Obviously, to reverse this, simple replace 'false' at the end with 'true'.
