Mail not forwarding to Gmail

For years Mail has been forwarding all mails to my Gmail account however I noticed today that it is no longer forwarding. I went into Mail to check the settings but now I can seem to find where it was that I designated the forwarding option. I went online to my mobile me account and cannot see the settings there either. Its been so long since I needed to look at this, has something changed in recent version to remove this option? If not can you share how to navigate to the settings window for this?
Thank you,
todd

Hi Todd,
I know that Mail in Leopard and Snow Leopard does not support forwarding from within the client, something like that is usually a server side setting. To be honest, even going back to Panther, I don't ever recall seeing an option from within the application itself to configure forwarding.
You can configure mail forwarding within Mobile Me via the website.
1.) Login to your account
2.) Go the Mail view
3.) Click on the gear wheel button, within mail (not the one that the looks like the mini System Preferences icon).
4.) Select Preferences
5.) Go to other and set the forwarding (yes or no) and the address to which the mail is forwarded.

I have Apple Mail 4.3 and since 22 November it is not loading new gmail messages. New messages are appearing in gmail and iphone, but not in Mail - any ideas why this would be

I'm facing the same problem since 27 Dec 2010, can't find and fix for this problem.
I can download other mail accounts except imap.gmail.com, it just show loading and nothing happen, and it also choke up almost all my internet bandwidth.
I gave up and switched to outlook for mac and no such problem.
Hope apple can look into this problem and I'm sure there are more out there having same issue.

  • Can't work out how to stop Mac mail from Forwarding to GMail account.

Okay. This is on behalf of my sister. For whatever reason, when emails are sent to her @mac.com address they get forwarded to her GMail account and deleted from her @mac.com address. So they never appear in her @mac.com inbox. She now wants this relationship to stop and wants to delete her GMail account due to hacking fears and use the @mac.com address as it was intended, but between us we can not figure out where the setting that is doing the forwarding and deleting command it set. I thought I had nailed it when I hit upon the "Rules" section in OS Mail preferences, but there was nothing in there. I then thought it might be a setting on her GMail account, but they are all standard as well.
So is there some place I'm not looking in either OS Mail or on me.com, or some place else that contains this type of forwarding commands that I'm clearly missing.
Thank you for any suggestions in advance
One thought I had was if I deleted her Mac account from OS Mail and re-built it, would that start everything from scratch???

Managed to solve this myself. Yeah.
It was a Mobile Me setting.
log on to me.com in an internet browser. Then select the preferences option under actions in the Mail area and select other, and in there you'll find forwarding options.... what a ball ache to find it though. Its not very clear at all. If u have a similar problem, then I suggest logging into me.com and do a search for forwarding and you'll find what you need straight away.

  • Why is mail not working with gmail?

And not for nothin', it doesn't seem to be working at all as it used to.
Nearly every morning I come down and see the message that Mail has crashed... again.
I am beginning to really, really regret installing Mavericks and wish I could go back... but now important documents have been upgraded to the new Pages and Keynote so I'm stuck.
So... I'm discovering that my iPad and my MacAir are the only machines that will load my gmail. My iPhone won't and my iMac won't.
I have no confidence that things are synching across all Apple products.
I believe I have done all the updates.
This is not the standard we have relied on in the past (and I've been an Apple person since the Apple II).
    Please help us...
I probably wouldn't even be using Gmail if Apple had not discontinued iDisk forcing me to go somewhere else for cloud storage. Still mourning that move.
    RO

Sorry -- the fact is that there doesn't seem to be any logic to what is happening -- or rather not happening.
There are two issues and I don't know if they are related or not.
    GMAIL and MAIL:
Works on my MacAir but NOT on my iMac. Both have OSX 10.9 with most recent updates.
Works on my iPad with exactly the same account configuration as my iPhone... where it doesn't work.
MAIL in general on my iMac:
From day one with Mavericks, Mail refuses to remember my iCloud login information.
It remembers my university's email config (@rwu.edu)
Nothing shows up under Gmail at all but it doesn't give me the Lightning symbol to tell me there's a problem.
Just about every morning I come back to my computer and there's an application crashed dialog box that tells me Mail unexpectedly quit and do I want to REOPEN. And when I do, I have to log in for my iCloud Mail to show up.
I assume that crash reports are automatically going to Apple... I don't get the option to send it to you.
    Thanks in advance.
Addendum: I hesitate to delete the Gmail account from anywhere in case the result is that I will lose my ability to read  Gmail on the two appliances where it is all working. That, and the fact that it is the end of the semester and I have 100 students emailing me everyday about last minute things and final exams. NOT the time to delete ANYTHING. But I might try next week...

  • Apple Mail not working with Gmail IMAP

This is a slight re-working of a post of 27 March as I am being driven nuts having to use web mail.
I have used Mail with gMail for years. Last week I was abroad and I could only use the web interface as when I logged in from my MacBook via Mail the message pane was fine (and up to date though it did not open by default as usual) but if I opened any message all I got was 'Loading' followed by the spinning beach ball. I tried this for several days and always got the same result and assumed it was an (atypical) result of being abroad.
When I got home I found I had exactly the same problem on my iMac which was fine before I left home and as with my MB I have to force quit to get out of Mail.
I then when out and after a restart (not the first since the problem) that my MB was OK - but only briefly. My iMac is still stuffed as far as Mail is concerned.
Mail itself does not seem completely broken, for instance I can look at Previous recipients, I can send from Mail and it arrives back (but then I can’t open it). I can drag messages to the Bin, but they don’t seem to stay there. Oddly I have sent a lot of mail from the gMail interface today, but none of them show up in Apple Mail, tho earlier days do.
I do have a lot of messages in sent mail, nearly 6,000, and while I can understand it progressively slowing things down I don’t see that it would cause both machines to fail simultaneously and anyway I don’t want to delete them.
Any ideas? There are no error messages, Connection Doctor shows me as logged in, and I have not found anything via a Google search or in their discussions.
    Cheers, Colin

Opps, the * was an OCR error from the screen dump I did not notice.
plus.net is my ISP, but I don't use them for mail normally but I suspect once-upon-a-time I may have had a problem connecting with gMail's SMTP server, so set that up.
I'm actually running Mail 3 (I think the latest version for Leopard, incidentally gmail help is only up to v 2).
Rather than delete the other servers I have set it to only use smtp.gmail, but it still hangs on opening a message pane. Oddly even tho I get the beech ball I can still open prefs.
I can't help feeling the problem is with Mail itself (tho why on two machines at once is beyond me) as the normal behaviour is always to open with the Message pane, but it opens without a window; almost as soon as I open the Message pane it updates with gmail and deletes any message I have moved on the web side. So, only partly broken, but broken enough to be useless!
    Cheers, Colin

  • Why is mail not working for gmail

I have an iPhone 5 via AT&T for data service.  When I try to send out an email via ios mail - the send shows up at the bottom and the email does not get sent?

Yeah, try deleting the account and setting up GMail again.. OR you could download the Gmail app from the appstore and use that app instead

  • Mac mail not working with gmail 2 step verification in yosemite

Every couple of days my 2 step verification seems to drop off the mac mail (and calendar) radar. Ive been using mac mail with 2 step verification (gmail account) for about 8 months, no problems. About 1 month ago my mac started asking for my gmail password. I have revoked and regenerated my password about 6 times recently to try to overcome this issue. The new password works for a couple of days and then mail and calendar start asking from my password again.

Not quite a reply, but I'm not sure how best to add to my first comment.
One of the issues with this (and there are multiple) is that I can't use handoff to work on something on my mac, started on my ipad, if it is working through my gmail account eg notes, calendar, email.
This bug is totally crippling the productivity and flexibility that came with ios8/yosemite developments.

  • Mail not forwarding attachments

I am using earthlink for my server and when I send email with attachments ( video and Pictures ) to more than one person it sometimes does not send the attachments. I am not sure what is going on here this never happened with my older MackBook Pro.
    Any help would be great...

There is nothing in Mail to cause this. More likely this is some type of SPAM guard operating with the SMTP you are using to send with. It is possible with too many recipients, they are blocking these Forwards, but I cannot be sure. Do these messages have true attachments, such as JPEG image files, or might they have embedded images that actually reside on a server, and the message only has a link to them? The latter would also be something the SPAM filters would be watching for.
More info, please, including the provider of the SMTP you are using?

  • Emails from Mail not going to Gmail recipients

My emails going out from my Mail account (which uses powweb) to Gmail email addresses isn't being received by gmail accounts. If I send it directly from Powweb, the email goes through to the gmail account.
But for some reason, any emails from my Apple Mail program, have recently (they used to work) stopped going through to Gmail email addresses. I haven't changed any settings or done any computer upgrades.

I'm afraid there is no reasonable way to help you without receiving more information about your setup and environment. Email setups can be quite sophisticated in order to protect from unsolicited access and mail relaying, involving also firewall and DNS configurations. You might be able to verify your connection and receive more information by creating an email using Telnet as outlined at http://www.wikihow.com/Send-Email-Using-Telnet

  • Reply and forward icons not appearing in mail app when I respond/forward from Gmail

When I reply or forward an email within the iphone mail app, the arrow icons showing I replied or forwarded appear beside the email in my iphone mail app inbox.
When I reply or forward from gmail, these icons do not appear in my iphone mail app.  Does show that I have read and flagging/unflagging works.
    Any thoughts?

Close out of the mail app, double tap the home button and completely close out of the app.
Then do a reset, no data loss.  Hold down the home/sleep button together until you see the apple logo and then release, then wait for the phone to boot back up.
    Then check your mail again.

  • Mail forwarded to gmail from work email shows up on web but not in blackberry

I have set up my gmail account in blackberry, and receive emails sent to me at gmail fine. But I have my emails from my work outlook set up to automatically forward to gmail. This works fine on the web on my computer, but these emails do not come to the blackberry.
I tried setting up the gmail mobile app and they do appear there, just like on the web - but I don't like that I have to refresh each time I want to view emails in that app. Why are they not appearing in the blackberry messages? I do not have them going into a particular folder in gmail, they go to my inbox with the rest of my mail.

Do you have a filter set up for your work email so you don't recieve double emails when you reply to people?  That would stop the forwarding of your gmail stuff from your work email.  Just a guess.

  • Mail not updating to show replied/forwarded on gmail imap

    Hello,
I've been reading about the various issues with Mail in Mavericks and Gmail Imap but none that addresses this. I access my account via imap on iPhone, a Snow Leopard MacBook Pro and Mac Pro running Mavericks. Everything has always worked just like it should - messages marked as replied to or forwarded on all devices when replied / forwarded on one of them. But Mail in Mavericks apparently just ignores this bit when it's not been on the local machine - that is, if I reply from my iPhone or the MacBook, Mavericks Mail does not display a replied/forwarded icon.
    Any help?

  • Apple MAIL e-mail with attachment not arriving in GMail accounts

    Serious problem...
If I send an e-mail FROM my mac account TO a GMail account...
    ... No attachment: E-mail arrives
... With attachment: E-MAIL DOES NOT ARRIVE
I've tested this from my MAIL account to our principal on our school's GMail account.
I've tested this from my MAIL account to my own GMail account.
Repeatedly: if my MAIL-generated e-mail includes an attachement, it DOES NOT ARRIVE in GMail acocunts.
    This is a serious problem...
    Can anyone help?
    Thanks.
    Cat
PS Just did an experiment: sent a MAIL-generated e-mail with attachment to my GMail account -- e-mail arrived, but had been stripped of attachment. Immediately sent another MAIL e-mail with two small attachments -- it never arrived in my GMail account but the cc arrived immediately in my MAIL account with both attachments intact.

I too am experiencing this behavior, however, for some reason that I do not know, the attachments appear ok one day and then they appear embedded. This is becoming detrimental to my work!
Is anyone looking into this at Apple?

not able to open mail from my mac, gmail repeatedly asking for password. but using same password able to open gmail on safari

okay well they got me to take out some .plist files to see if that would help it didn't. I'm not sure what ones that they deleted for my self maybe someone here would be abel to tell you what ones to take out but didn't work the one that came close to working was this going into keychain and deleting the account(s) then reading them again.
if you are to do this please back up first with Time Machine. You can do this with a usb drive.
Okay so go back to where you had internet accounts and make sure mail is shut. click the - on the account your having problems with then quit system preferences.
Okay so then press cmd and space bar at the same time then type 'keychain access' into the search then click on 'keychain access'
once it is open go to the top of the window and put your email address that you are having problems with.
once you have put in your full email, have a look at what comes up i deleted things in the kind colome with 'internet password' and anything with under name that had smtp.gmail.com or imap.gmail.com so it would look like this, map.gmail.com - internet password.
right click and delete them. make sure not to touch any other files that dont say them things on them.
Once you have done this quit keychain access and then restart the computer, once the computer is restarted go back to system preferences and internet accounts and re-add the account.
Hope this helps. if something is not clear just ask.
