Mail not receiving on my macbook

Hi there,
I noticed yesterday i dont receive email anymore since yesterday on my Macbook. I have my icloud account configured and it was always working. Yesterday i emailed some links from my work email to my icloud account. On my iphone i did receive the emails. When i came home i opened my macbook but the emails i did not receive... I deleted the email account and added it again but no luck. I tried also to email from my gmail to icloud but did not receive those emails. When i email from my icloud to gmail and reply on that email it still not received on my macbook. It seems strange. When i registered here for apple support communities i did receive an email that says Welcome to.... When i log in on to the icloud.com website i do see the emails i sent to myself.
I have MacOSX 10.8.3 installed.
Hope to find a solution for this problem.
Regards,
Jan-Willem

  • Mail not receiving new email messages.

The Mail application on my 2006 MacBook has stopped retrieving new messages. The Mac is running 10.5.8, and the Mail is version 3.6. I have not made any changes to the mail preferences in years. I have two email accounts configured: my Gmail as well as my university email account.  Comcast is my internet provider. About a week ago, the incoming email was slow to update. I would click "Get Mail", and it would pull in only 4-5 emails at a time. I would re-click "Get Mail" several times until all the new mail was retrieved. But for the past 4 days, no new mail is coming in.  When I click on "Get Mail", the wheel next to both accounts spin like they are working, but nothing happens. There is no error message given (such as "no internet connection"). I have tried the mailbox "rebuild" on both accounts several times, as well as rebooting the computer. (When in doubt, reboot!).
The outgoing emails I send from Mail are being received by the recipients, so I know the connection is working in that direction!  The Comcast internet is working, and I can log in to my Gmail account through the web and view my emails there just fine. I'm also receiving the new emails on my iPod Touch. So, I know there are new emails, but they are not coming to my MacBook.
    Any ideas?

Thanks for the suggestions, BDAqua. Unfortunately, the new mail is still not coming in.  I am still able to send mail out through Mail (I did another "test" mail to myself, then checked it on Gmail.com).
A couple of comments & questions (to make sure I was doing things correctly):
The "Connection Doctor" had all green dots. So, that all looks OK.
What do I do with the Mail folder and Envelope Index file that I had moved to my desktop during the Safe Boot? Right now, they are just still sitting on my desktop while in normal start-up mode.
When you said "redo to Rules", I moved the two files you mentioned into the trash. Is this what I was supposed to do? Should I "empty trash" to make sure they are gone?
After I ran through your suggestions once, I did the "safe boot" again and re-ran the Disk Utility "Repair Permissions". Of the things it found, none seem to be Mail related. But, just for kicks, I'll paste the results log below.
Any other ideas? I am able to get my mail through Gmail.com, so it's not the end of the world if I never get this fixed. Just annoying!

  • Mail not receiving email

I recently purchased an iPhone so I wanted to change my Mac Mail from a POP account to IMAP since I will be checking on both devices. The issues is after I have done this I no longer receive emails to Mac Mail. I am able to send, but not receive. I receive new emails to my iPhone no problem and it has the exact same settings as the IMAP account for Mac Mail. The steps I have taken to try and correct:
    Deleted the POP account
Deleted and re-added the IMAP account
Connection Doctor shows green on both incoming and outgoing e-mail
Created a new user account with the IMAP account
    Repaired Disk permissions
Deleted the Keychain password for the IMAP account
Reset the password for the e-mail account
I did find I am able to receive emails when I perform "Get Account Info" specifically the Quota Limits tab. I have to manually do this each time I want to check and receive new e-mail. Also selecting the Rebuild option does the same. Each time I want to get my e-mail I have to perform one of these two options. New emails are not automatically received, or selecting the Get Mail does not retrieve new messages.
Any other ideas, I am completely out of things to try. Thanks in advance.

I have the same problem. I receive mail just fine on my iPhone and on the other Macs in my home. I only have a problem with my MacBook Pro. It is also sporatic. Some e-mails come thru. Some do not unless I restart Mail or take all accounts offline then back online. The same things happens on other networks when I am away from home. Frustrating.
    Any help out there????

  • Sent mail not sent; .Mac mail not receiving

Having a real problem on several computers. First of all, my ISP assures me that they have not blocked any ports or changed anything about their network recently. And I too have changed nothing recently.
I am not able to send e-mail it seems from my .Mac account, although the messages appear in my Sent folder and I do not receive any error messages. I am not able to send messages to myself to confirm working order. It also doesn't work if I am working thru the web based .Mac e-mail. I have another e-mail address running thru Mail as well and it seems to send and receive e-mail just fine. Although using it to send my .Mac address a message does not work. I have tried to send my .Mac address an e-mail from another .Mac address that my wife uses to no avail either. Similarly my other non-.Mac e-mail address does not receive e-mail from her .Mac address either.
Its puzzling. When I take my wife's MacBook to a local free wifi hotspot all e-mails seem to work fine.

You need to determine if the issue is system wide or isolated to your user account on the computer.
Create a new user account by going to System Preferences>Accounts
Click on the lock in the lower left corner. Enter your admin password.
Click on the + sign and create a new user.
Go to the apple menu and choose the bottom menu choice to log out.
Log into the newly created user account.
Go to System Preferences and choose .Mac
Enter your user name and password in the fields.
    Close System Preferences.
Launch Mail and it should be set up automatically and download your mail from the server.
Test whether you can send and receive.
If it does not work. You have a system wide issue.
Your best bet in that case is a reinstall. You need to make sure you don't have other issues.
Run disk utility from the Utilities folder, choose your hard drive, Verify disk.
If Verify disk fails let me know.
If Verify disk passes then repair disk permissions and you are ready to reinstall.
Do an archive and install preserving user and network settings then do a Software Update.

  • Mail not receiving messages

I just updated to Yosemite.  My Mail account can send messages but not received messages.  I tried creating a new account, but same result as my old account.  My wife has a Mail account identical to mine, except for her E-Mail address, and she sends and receives okay.  We have the same domain; just hers is [email protected]  Mine is [email protected]  The Connection Doctor successfully connects to both the incoming and outgoing mail servers.  The Activity Window shows:
          "[Don] Fetching new mail
         Preparing to retrieve messages...
for a long time and nothing else.
I did find the following messages in the System Log:
    11/08/2014 3:33:09.074 PM    Mail[393]    -[MFPOPConnection fetchMessages:totalBytes:] failed: Error Domain=MCMailErrorDomain Code=1029 "The attempt to send data to the server “(null)” failed." UserInfo=0x608000650b00 {NSLocalizedDescription=The attempt to send data to the server “(null)” failed.}
Also I noticed in Mail is the menu Menu Bar>Mailbox>Get New Mail>Don is disabled, but Menu Bar>Mailbox>Get New Mail>Glenda is enabled.  Both accounts are shown being online.
Finally, I tried my account on my wife's MacBook Pro and my mail was received okay.  So it has to be something on my MacPro.
I've spent 2 days trying to resolve this issue without success, but I'm at a loss.  Any suggestions will be much appreciated.
    Thank you,
    Don

Launch the Keychain Access application in any of the following ways:
☞ Enter the first few letters of its name into a Spotlight search. Select it in the results (it should be at the top.)
☞ In the Finder, select Go ▹ Utilities from the menu bar, or press the key combination shift-command-U. The application is in the folder that opens.
☞ Open LaunchPad. Click Utilities, then Keychain Access in the icon grid.
Use the search box in the toolbar of the Keychain Access window to search for the name of the mail server you're having trouble with. Double-click one of the items and check the box marked Show password in the inspector window. You'll be prompted for your keychain password to confirm. Make a note of the user name and password. Then delete every "Internet Password" item in the search results. Quit Keychain Access.
Quit and relaunch Mail. You'll be prompted for the account user name and password. Enter the information you noted earlier and check the box to save it in the Keychain.

  • Mac mail not receiving or sending messages.

My mail keeps saying it wont receive my emails bc of an smpt server being wrong?
This happens often and it is really annoying. Right now it is just flat out not receiving email. What is happening?!?! How do I fix it? I need my email!

    Hi,
By the information that you have provided, it sounds like you are using STAMINA mode. If you are using STAMINA mode, you need to set WhatsApp as active in standby via Settings > Power management > STAMINA mode > Apps active in standby > Add applications > WhatsApp.
You can find more info about STAMINA mode here.

  • Mail not receiving new emails

Since installing the latest update my Mail won't receive any new emails from my business account run through gmail.
    [email protected]
Receiving fine on iPhone and through Thunderbird.
Is anyone else having issues with Mail?
    Regards

I am having the same problems. I am not receiving email to one of the six addresses I have in Mail. Ever since I updated to Mavericks, I've had problems with Apple Mail. I checked the activity and conneciton doctor, everything is green and connection is fine, but no email. I only receive the message if I quit mail and restart.
I've been using apple for 10 years, and in the last year or so noticed they are going the way of windows in that there programs don't "just work" anymore. There are more and more issues creeping up with each new update.

  • Mails not receiving

    Hello All,
I have configured my IPhone for mail using my Exchange Server Settings.
I am not able to send and receive the emails.
So can any one tell me what can be problem

    Hi all,
I sympathise with your problem. I'm also tearing my hair out. I spent three hours (!!) on the phone to Apple support today because my iphone (3G model) would not configure my Sky email address. It wouldn't verify and set up on the iphone itself. We tried everything known to man. Eventually after syncing it through itunes and changing the password on my Sky account as it wouldn't accept the existing one, it set up! So far so good - it sends emails fine and if I write an email to myself it receives it, but it is not receiving mail from anyone else which is pretty useless. ie the mail arrives on my computer but not in my iphone inbox PLEASE HELP SOMEONE if anyone has any ideas!! I'm desperate! Thanks so much...

  • Verification mail not received

    Hi,
I have been reading about a lot of people in the apple forums and on other forum web sites who have not received their verification mail for their apple id. I have just bought a new ipad and have had this problem and I have just found the solution. I found 21 mails (!!!) in my Google Spam folder. I don't know why Google identifies these mails as spam but it would explain why so many people are having this problem and it is also next to impossible for Apple to trouble shoot this problem because they cannot look into a user's mailbox.
    blaulicht

I found the solution. I went to the apple web site on my pc. I checked the status of my Apple ID. In brief, my ID (email address) indicated not verified on the website. I corrected this, and like magic the issue was resolved on my iPad.
Why my email address became "not verified" all of a sudden is another question. It is the same Apple ID I have used for years !
    Anyways, thanks guys.:-D

  • Mail not received

I have had a friend tell me he's written to me but I have not received any mail from him. How do I check that I have not missed any mail?

    Hello Bernardette,
Thank you for using Apple Support Communities!
From what you are describing it sounds like the emails from your friend may be being incorrectly identified as junk, or spam by the iCloud filters
I would take a look at this part of the article named iCloud: Identifying and filtering spam found here http://support.apple.com/kb/HT4899:
Also make sure to check your Junk folder for email messages that were incorrectly marked as spam. To check your Junk folder from iCloud.com, choose the Mail application and click the Junk folder in the sidebar.
Note: Email messages in the Junk folder are automatically deleted after 30 days.
    All the very best,
    Sterling

  • ICloud mail not receiving

I'm not receiving emails through iCloud. I can send emails to my other email accounts from the iCloud and these are received in the appropriate mail accounts. Any mail sent to my iCloud addresses from any of other mail accounts are not arriving. I was curious when I'd not received any new emails on my iCloud account for a day (this is unknown).
I looked into contacting Apple support for help only to find they'll only assist for £25. As I consider this an insult, I'd really appreciate help from anyone who can advise what the problem might be.
    Thank you
    Andrew

    Hello Andy Marlow
I would recommend taking a look at the troubleshooting steps found in the article below if you are unable to receive iCloud mail.
    iCloud: Troubleshooting iCloud Mail
If you can't receive mail in OS X Mail
Locate the name of your iCloud account on the left side of the main Mail window. If your iCloud account name is dimmed and has a lightning-bolt symbol next to it, your account is offline. To bring your account online, make sure that your computer is connected to the Internet, then choose Mailbox > Take All Accounts Online. If that doesn't resolve the issue, follow these steps:
Choose Preferences from the Mail menu.
Click Accounts in the Preferences window.
Select your iCloud account from the list of accounts.
Click the Advanced tab and verify these settings:
    Port: 993
    Use SSL: (selected)
Authentication: either "Password" or "Apple Token"

  • Mail not receiving emails with attachments

    Hi
I'd appreciate any suggestions in relation to the following.
My wife and I both run computers from the one account, Mail on her PowerBook logging in through my name and password. Until recently, we have had no problems at all. However, it has come to light that my wife has not been receiving emails with attachments for some time. To test this, my wife sent an email with an attachment to her home email address from work, and copied it to me. I received the email and the attachment on my PC; my wife's Mac did not receive the email. I then forwarded the email with the attachment to her computer; this was successful. This would suggest some problem with her Mail account on the Mac. However, the configuration has not been changed. Is it possible for it just to stop working for some reason?

I'm using a PC for my email at the moment. I'm not sure if all my wife's emails have been downloaded. However, Mail has made a Home/Mail/MessageUidsAlreadyDowloaded file. This was created when I sent an email to test what happened. I was unable to make Mail download all her emails, so I guess they must have gone from the server. She has a different email address to mine, but it's run from the same ISP account; as I said, she logs in, automatically, through Mail to her email. I have contacted the ISP about it, but they are unable to see any trace of emails that colleagues have sent my wife and which she sends home to herself. All of these files happen to have attachments, but I cannot see any setting of Mail which would account for them being rejected. Also, I can't be entiurely sure that only emails with attachments don't get through; there may be others, 'unattached'.
    Thanks for your continued assistance.
