Mail not scanned when forwarded locally
I've set up a couple of Macs in my office to run OS X Server (10.4.3) and I have a problem with mail not being junk mail scanned and wonder if any of the OS X Server geniuses out here can help me get it working correctly.
Machine #1, 'proxy.server' is setup to be the firewall/router/proxy for the local network. It has no user accounts except for administration. Machine #2, 'mail.server' is the final destination for mail for our domains and has user accounts setup on it. All the usernames that we want to receive email for are listed in /etc/postfix/aliases on proxy.server - I want to move to virtual mail users, but I don't want to complicate things right now. Mail for all the users listed in the aliases file are successfully accepted by proxy.server and forwarded on to mail.server.
When I look in the headers of mail received on mail.server, I see the 'X-virus-scanned' lines indicating that it was virus scanned by proxy.server, but there are no indications that it has been scanned for Junk mail. Mail delivered and stored locally on proxy.server (ie the 'junkmail' account) do have these extra lines in their headers.
Is there a way to enable the junk mail scanning on proxy.server before it forwards the messages on to mail.server? Long term, I want proxy.server to be able to reject mail it thinks is Junk mail, but for now I just want it to scan it so both myself and the users can see that it is correctly identifying junk mail.
Any hits/tips/help greatly appreciated.
Just in case anyone else has a need to do this sort of thing, then I found a way to get around the limitations using the mailbox_transport option in postfix configuration and far too many ugly additions to the aliases list.

Mac mail bounce back when forwarded
Help! I use mac mail on my ibook to get mail from my go daddy server. Recently I cannot forward mail to one of my 3 accounts. when I try I get this message:
Hi. This is the qmail-send program at p3plsmtpa01-07.prod.phx3.secureserver.net.
I'm afraid I wasn't able to deliver your message to the following addresses.
This is a permanent error; I've given up. Sorry it didn't work out.
<[email protected]>:
Sorry, no mailbox here by that name. (#5.1.1)
Go Daddy says it's a problem with mac mail. I can forward mail to this account ([email protected]) when I use their mail page.
I'm fairly computer illiterate and would appreciate any help offered.

Making a rule to simply move emails from an unwanted sender (with a real email address) to the trash, is no solution at all. The whole point is to Reject that person's email by bouncing it back to them, with the intention of showing them they have NOT reached a valid email address. The whole point is to STOP their behavior, not accept it. Your suggestion, that I have to allow the unwanted email to come in, for me to have to deal with it, trashing it or otherwise, sounds like the attitude of the spammers.
Let's not confuse the point here, Apple put the "bounce mail" feature in Mac mail for a reason, and I just want it to work again.
Bouncing email is not unique to Apple's Mail. There is a RFC specifying how bouncing should be handled. Thomas already explained why bouncing email is not a good idea. Here is the reason quoted from http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Nondeliveryreport.
"Today, however, most email is spam, which usually utilizes forged Return-Paths. It is then often impossible for the MTA to inform the originator, and sending a bounce to the forged Return-Path would hit an innocent third party. In addition, there are specific reasons why it is preferable to silently drop a message rather than reject it (let alone bounce it):
* Heuristically filtered spam. Spam filters are not perfect. Rejecting spam based on content filtering implies giving to spammers a test environment where they can try several alternatives until they find a content that passes the filter.
* Viruses and worms. Most times these are sent automatically from an infected machine. Since a bounce may contain a copy of the worm itself, it may contribute to its diffusion."
So using bounce is not a good idea, IMHO. -
I can no longer select multiple addresses from my Mail address book when forwarding emails
Since updating to Mavericks I cannot select multiple addresses from my address book when forwarding emails.
I can select them individually using the + sign in the address bar but cannot select any when I open my Contact list as I have done with previous systems.
Additionly, the full address appears in the "To" window instead of just the name and without the email address. I have selected "Smart Address" from the Preferences menu, View section.
Help! Why are you using a Hotmail or Live Mail SMTP server to send email with your Gmail account?
This is likely the cause of the problem. Use Gmail's authenticated SMTP server to send email with your Gmail account. -
Contacts' name not appearing when called locally while travelling !!!
iPhone 3G 3.0
When called locally abroad during travel the contact name does not appear. I have stored all my numbers in Int'l format.
Is there a fix / tool to sort out this issue?I used to experience this. What I do now is store multiple versions of the same number, with and without the country codes. Mostly I use the country code version to dial out, while the phone uses the non-country code version to ID in-coming calls.
For example, Contact "Buddy #238" may have two phone numbers, even though he really has just the one:
78 (555) 123-1234, and
(555) 123-1234
I'd use the first to call out, but the in-coming calls may tend to show up as the second. Coming to think of it, which of the two number formats does your caller ID display when your friends call? Does any of this seem applicable at all? If you notice a different format for in-coming calls, just add that number to the existing contact(s). -
Mail Not Launching When Trying to Open from User Folder
Mail is not launching when I try to open it from within the home folder in my user folder. I have reported the problem to Apple.
It does, however, launch when I try to open it from within the Applications folder.
Any ideas why?
Thanks in advance.
RussellI do have a MS Intellipoint driver of some kind, what do you mean by "check for it"? Try a different mouse? If I uninstall the driver, will any mouse still work?
This might not have any effect on your Adobe programs, but earlier InteliPoint drivers have caused major issues with several Adobe programs. Going back a couple of years, MS did change the InteliPoint drivers, and all was good for about a year. Then, recently, a change was made, and other problems developed with Adobe programs. Most of these were noted in Adobe PrPro. I do not recall any here.
In those other cases, the users replaced the InteliPoint drivers with the generic mouse drivers, and the problems disappeared. Do not know if this will have any impact on your issue, but GUI problems have been cleared up with the replacement of the InteliPoint drivers.
All that I hope is that you will find a cure to this issue. I would be very nervous, should my Assets disappear from my Windows Explorer, or similar.
Good luck,

ChaRM: Mail not triggered when current user = mail receiver?
Dearl all:
Ive noticed that mails are not triggered when the user who is processing a document is the same who will receive it. Is there any way to deactivate this functionality?
Thank you very much,
Federico.Hi Miguel, how are you?
I think it is a nice feature not sending a mail when the user who is changing the status in the one who would receive the mail in that next status. But Im in the testing pahse of implementing SOLMAN and I would like to know if this is a real feature or a flaw, and besides I would like to turn off this possible feature, just for the testing phase. This is not a big deal anyway.
By the way, I also notice that if there is a partner assigned multiple times to a document, it doesnt trigger the mails as expected.
Best regards,
Federico. -

Flash not appearing when run locally
Hi, I am having a weird issue with a user. He cannot display a swf when run locally on his machine in a browser. If he goes online he sees the movies fine. To test I sent him a movie with just an image in it and published to html. I double click the html page and can see the movie and image fine. He does the same on his machine and gets nothing just a blank page. Problem is we have an java app that runs local (using port 8000) and opens separate movies in new windows that he can never see.
Thanks in advance,
P.It sounds like you are having a file trust problem. To resolve that, you have to trust this file from the Flash Global Settings Manager.
Go there: http://www.macromedia.com/support/documentation/en/flashplayer/help/settings_manager04.htm l
Add a path to the local file, restart browser and try again. -
Message Status Arrow not showing when forwarding or replying to mails.
When you reply to or forward a mail message the message status shows an arrow sign (straight or curved) to indicate that a particular mail has been addressed. When you click on this arrow you are taken to your reply or forwarded message.
I have a problem here: For most mails this works fine. But when I get mails from within my own organization sent through outlook and when I reply to them the arrows in the message status box do not appear. When outlook is not used and the mail is sent directly from the server.... then arrows are displayed on my replying to these mails.
Presuming:
My id is [email protected] (user of Mac Mail)
My colleagues are [email protected] and [email protected] (both user of Windows Outlook)
Pl adviseditto same problem, although in my case its applied to ALL replied / forwarded emails. The replied message never comes up when you click the arrow.

Cisco Unity Express 8.6.6 Voice Mail not deleting when e-mail with attachment deleted
I have a Cisco Unity Communications Manager rel 9.1.2 that supports a remote location with a Unity Express rel 8.6.6 voice mail service module in the voice gateway to insure if WAN goes down the location still has voice mail. We have Voice Mail to E-Mail working. The problem is that when the e-mail with the voice mail is deleted the message stays in the Unity Express Voice Mail Box. All of our local users on the same Call Manager Cluster using a local Unity Connection Cluster rel 9.1.2 have the voicemails deleted when the e-mail is deleted.
How can I resolve this issue?Found another post that referenced Cisco Bug ID CSCti37610.
CUC plays message is from Unity Connection Messaging system
Symptom:Before message playback, Unity Connection plays the message is from Unity Connection Messaging System instead sender's ANI
Conditions:Problem was observed on Unity Connection cluster and appropriate services are not rebooted after changing the SMTP domain name
Workaround:
Restart the Unity Connection servers
It should have been fixed in 8.5 but we did change the SMTP domain name on 8.6 and now see the problem. Will schedule a reboot and see if the issue goes away. -
Amavisd not running, mails not delivered when spam filter is enabled
Hey everyone,
So I've got a slight problem here with a 10.4.11 server. Our spam filter was set to be too tolerant of spam, allowing a threshold 22.0 before bouncing it, so through the command line I edited /etc/amavisd.conf to $sa_kill_level_deflt = 6.0; tag2 is set to 3.0. Then I bounced amavisd via:
sudo /bin/launchctl unload /System/Library/LaunchDaemons/org.amavis.amavisd.plist
sudo /bin/launchctl load /System/Library/LaunchDaemons/org.amavis.amavisd.plist
Well that caused all sorts of whacky issues with the queue. The server couldn't connect to itself and wouldn't deliver any mail, only queue it up. So I went back in to amavisd.conf and changed the parameters back to default, then bounced amavisd again. To no avail. Then I restored from a backup file I had created and bounced amavisd again to no avail.
Finally I removed the junkmail and virus filters via SA, saved, then reenabled them to no avail. Then I just disabled them and mail is flowing again, but I still have 187 messages in my queue that wont get delivered no matter how many times I flush it.
After more research, I issued a ps -U clamav to see if amavisd is running, below are the only results I get:
PID TT STAT TIME COMMAND
1291 ?? Ss 0:00.01 freshclam -d -D -pfreshclam.pid -c 1
I would assume it is NOT running...? I next issued amavisd to see if it throws any errors, and get the following:
ERROR: MISSING REQUIRED BASIC MODULES:
MIME::Parser
BEGIN failed--compilation aborted at /usr/bin/amavisd line 139.
So my next question is how do I repair amavisd so I can get it to run so I can reenable the content filter. Here are the results of postconf in case you need them:

AndrewTo get the queue going, issue:
sudo postsuper -r ALL
That said, I would think you initially introduced a typo in amavisd.conf. Next you probably restored amavisd and amavisd.conf files which were incompatible with each other and/or amavis incompatible with the updated perl modules of the latest security update.
To fix things, I would re-apply the latest combo updater and security updates (assuming you are running stock versions and have not installed your own versions of amavisd, etc).
If things still do not work, please post the output of:
amavisd -V -
E-mails get truncated when forwarded
When I forward an e-mail from within the e-mail app, the e-mail does not get forwarded completely. For some reason the original text gets truncated.
I first noticed this on IOS 6 on both the iPhone 5 and iPad 3rd gen.
Please advice me what to do, because this way the e-mail app is not reliable.
Kind regards.Thank you. I will have to try this out with a known troublesome link, but I don't recall getting an "open with" dialog in these circumstances. Also, as I understand these things (and I probably don't) the links I have tried to use have been communication links rather than a file opening function. The problem I got the other day was on a BBC site and the function of the link (which was an e-mail address) was to enable me to post a question. I was able to use that address to post the question without using the link shortcut - just sent an e-mail.

I just confirmed my e-mail account, but I had to go to my very slow AOL connection since the message you guys sent me was not visible in the body of the page, just the header
Just to say there ARE lots of Apps on BlackBerry World, so potential BB purchasers should not let that stop them, and some very good free ones, excellent -- BlackBerry Travel is really good, and OsmAnd maps are fabulous, big to download, but when you get it you'll be amazed. Just download a provincial or smaller map to start, because they are huge files and very detailed, but lots of trails and paths are on them... good for park trails and such.

Extremely slow message import after having deleted Envelope Index
Hi, I had some problems with garbled email messages et cetera, so I deleted the "Envelope Index"-file from ~/Library/Mail (as described on many sites). I reopened mail, and, like expected, it asked me to import my Messages. When I do this, at first e

Gentlefolk; Any suggestions for finding a blog template? What I am looking for is pretty simple, your basic text display for the blogged content, and the ability to post responses. The design part is no problem, but hooking into a DB would be a littl
