Mail not sending using .mac accounts
For years, I've had multiple .mac accounts. I've only had one listed as my official .mac account while the others I sent up in Mail as IMAP accounts. This has worked wonderfully this entire time.
BUT NOW, none of my .mac accounts are sending! I've tried changing the port to 587. I've tried deleting the accounts and recreating them. I've tried all that I can think of. Everytime I try to send I get a popup window asking for my password. I type in my password and it is rejected. I know that it is the correct password because I can login to apple's .mac site and send just fine with the same password. I also know that it is not my ISP. I've connected to the Internet from multiple locations (home, work, friends houses, etc.) and still have the same problem (when I could send from all of these places a week ago). What gives? Can anyone help?
Thanks!
Are you also accessing an email account and SMTP server provided by your ISP with the Mail.app?
If so, are you able to send messages with this account?
If yes, select/use your ISP's SMTP server to send messages with your .Mac accounts which is invisible to all recipients.
Then call your ISP to ask if any recent changes were made blocking the use of SMTP servers that are outside of their network even if authenticated such as the .Mac SMTP server.

Mac Mail not sending from correct account.
I constantly use Mail to send and receive emails on my MacBook.
On it I have three email 'accounts' - my me.com address (for formal emails to work, banks etc.), my "junk" address (for spam, gaming etc.) and my "home" address (for personal emails and everything else).
When typing an email, if I choose to send it from a different account than the one I originally selected, I can just change it in the 'From' pop-down menu (under the 'To', 'Cc', 'Bcc' and 'Subject' fields).
Recently though, for some reason when I want to send an email from my "home" address, it sends it from my "junk"one instead, even if I am sending it 'From' my "home" address.
It still has my "home" address' signature, and not every time it does send from my "junk" one instead - rather it seems to send from both as it feels up to.
This bothers me quite a bit, especially when I send an important email using my "home" address but it sends from my "junk" - both confusing and annoying me and the recipients.
This only just started happening to me this past week. Does anyone else have the same issue, and any help would be greatly appreciatedSome mail servers such as gmail will change the address when sending from one account through another account's server.
Go into Mail's preferences under Accounts. Highlight each account and make sure the correct outgoing server is listed for that account with the correct user name and password. Each account should have their own. Check the box to use only that server with that account. Do this for all accounts.
If you don't check the box and the server fails, it will move on to the next one in the list. Then you will get the address from that server even though you're sending from a different account.
If the server does fail, you will get a selection box to try again or select another server. -
Non-Spam mail not arriving to Mac account
Hi
I need to send a mailing to a large number of signed up users via PHP. I am checking the mailing with gmail, hotmail, yahoo, and other accounts and there is no problem - but the mail is not being delivered to my mac.com address.
I ran the text of the mail through Spam Assassin just in case, and the only discrepancy I had was between server sent time and client receipt time.
Does anybody know of any rules in the mac.com or Mail application which would be preventing this mail being delivered? Is there, perhaps, a test system I can check the mail against so that I can understand why it would fail Mac rules?SPF added, functions OK now

Mail receives OK but will not send for smtp account. Exchange server receives/sends OK
mail receives OK but will not send for smtp account. Exchange server receives/sends OK I'm away from home, using a family-member's wireless network that has always worked OK in the past. Today, the same problem occured while waiting in a hospital waiting lounge. Any ideas?
The outgoing mail server may be rejecting mail from your network address. Typically that happens when your mail service provider is also your ISP, and you connect to it from another network. The SMTP server will allow connections without a password from anywhere, but it will only relay mail from within the ISP's network. It could also be that your account on the server has expired or been suspended.
If you need to send mail from outside your ISP's network, use an independent mail service provider. I don't have a specific recommendation. -

Since moving to iCloud my mail not sending attachments any answers?
Hi
Since moving to iCloud my mail not sending attachments any answers? After the migration I started having problems with all NON Apple things.
Now, as of July, 6th this is my situation:
Lion devices and iOS5 devices (MacBook, MacPro, iPhone 4s and iPad I) - fine
have a look here for info:
AUTOMATIC SETUP FOR APPLE MAIL ON LION MACS
http://www.apple.com/icloud/setup/mac.html
Snow Leopard - set up after some trouble using these instructions:
OLDER SERVER FOR APPLE MAIL ON PRE OS 10.7 MACS
http://support.apple.com/kb/HT5330
Non Apple clients should work with these instructions but I still cannot get MailForge to work:
SERVERS FOR GENERIC EMAIL CLIENTS
http://support.apple.com/kb/HT4864
MOBILE NON APPLE STUFF
With my HP (Palm) Pre 3 I am still figuring out why every single day they change the servers:
this however might help you as the Palm is more similar to the BB than the iPhone:
PALM PRE 3 SETTINGS: I also have updated the password on iCloud, deleted the old iCloud account on the Pre, created a new one. Please note that it now sends using the older server, I do not know for how long.

Out going mail not sending in mavericks
I've had this problem since upgrading to mavericks, mail not sending and the sntp server showing off line.
I"VE FIXED IT!!!!
Guys hope this helps, the ports show default - 25, 465, 585 in edit smtp settings. Check the next box down - use this port and type in 25, I know its in the default list but its sent my mail when using the custom port.
Hope this helps, I spent all day yesterday on to my server supplier and onto chat with Apple in US but couldnt solve it.
Best of luck!!For the past few weeks, I have been noticing a similar problem: access to 11 email accounts, and three domains, is blocked on occasion. According to my web hosting company, this is happening because some process was attempting to connect via port 585, an insecure IMAP port; and that an automatic firewall rule was invoked to block those attempts. The blocking would last for about one hour after the last attempt was made to connect.
I'm running Mavericks. If I quit Mail, then restarted one hour later, the problem was resolved. UNTIL Mail attempted to connect to my mail servers, upon which the blocks were triggered again.
I downloaded Little Snitch. It told me, unsurprisingly at this point, that three email accounts were attempting to use port 585 to connect to their mail server. But I DON'T USE IMAP with those accounts! Why Mail is attempting to connect to a port which I haven't configured it to use is the puzzle.
The solution for me: tell Little Snitch to deny any access via port 585. -

Ical not synching with .mac account
We have our set up in our preferences to sync ical with our .mac account, so we can access it away from home. Everytime we log on to our account, it still show it hasn't ben synched, although when I go in the preferences, it shows the box checked so it should sync. Any suggestions? This is frustrating, because it is showing not synched in .mac account and synched on my computer....
iCal does get synced with the .Mac servers, but there is no webinterface available for calendars. However, you can sync your iCal between multiple Macs using that feature.
The only way to access your calender using any machine and the web is to publish your calender. See here for more details:

Cannot send attachments in Mail using .mac account, pop account is fine!
Within my Mail.app, I have 2 accounts: one is a .mac account, the other a pop account.
When I send attachments (jpg always and sometimes pdf) with the .mac account, they do not get encoded properly and my recipients cannot view them -- or they can view, say, 10% of the photo.
When I send the same attachments with the pop account, and within the same Mail.app, I do NOT have this problem.
Furthermore, if I send the attachment from my .mac webmail, I do NOT have the problem.
Does Mail.app have a problem with attachments sent via IMAP accounts?
I have tried Repairing Permissions, deleting the outbox.mbx (and emptying the trash).
Does anyone have any other suggestions? This is driving me crazy.
I am running Mail 2.0.5 on Tiger 10.4.3
Thanks a lot in advance, Neil
Long live the sunflower iMac, iBook G4 Mac OS X (10.4)Hello Neil.
Does Mail.app have a problem with attachments sent via IMAP accounts?
None that I'm aware of.
The Mail.app uses MIME 1.0 for message/attachment encoding (which is the internet standard) for all email accounts.
Is your POP account and the SMTP server used for the account provided by your ISP used for connecting to the internet?
If so, try selecting/using your ISP's SMTP server (the same SMTP server used to send mail via your ISP's POP account) to send mail via your .Mac account as a test. -
.Mac Account in mail not sending outgoing mail
It is receiving but not sending out. It worked fine in the UK, but I am now in Canada....would this make a difference ?
Any help appreciated. If the internet service provider you are using in Canada is different from the internet service provider used in the UK, yes.
Go to Mail > Preferences > Accounts and under the Account Information tab for your .Mac account preferences at the SMTP server selection, select the Server Settings below for the .Mac SMTP server.
Enter 587 in place of 25 in the Server Port field and when finished, select OK to save the changed setting.
If you are already using 587 for the Server Port and/or this doesn't work, have you relocated to Canada or are you just traveling there? -
Can receive, not send using Mail
I haven't been able to send emails from Mail on my iMac (Mac OS X) since Feb. 5. I can receive, but I can only send them remotely. I haven't changed anything in my settings, signature...etc. All of the updates have been performed. The strange part is that no one else here using a Mac and the Mail program, is having any issues with outgoing mail. Here's what a non-Mac tech has tried:
"The latest attempt yielded the same results. At this point I would recommend getting someone who is a MAC techie.
What I can tell you that you can pass along to them is the following:
1) The password credentials for the outgoing server do not remain saved.
2) I have deleted the “keychain access” under logins for (server) which had no effect.
3) I deleted and recreated the outgoing server on more than one occasion.
4) Outgoing server should be (server) on port 25 using password authentication.
5) Attempted to go into” keychain access first aid” but it seems to be linked to another user. May be a starting point for someone to look at as I am not familiar with your system set up and a limited knowledge base concerning MACs..
The problem seems to be connected to the “keychain access” but I cannot identify the source. It’s linked to the issue of the outgoing server not saving the password so it can connect to the Ipswitch Imail server."
ALSO:
"I would try one other thing when you have a chance – start with “take all accounts offline” then go back into the account settings and go into the “edit server list” and delete that server then hit the “+” symbol to recreate the server. Save and quit mail.
Then go to “Application” -- “Utilities” – “Keychain Access” __”passwords” and delete the mail.archmil.org entries(probably 2 of them).
Now re-open Mail and go in and bring the account back online.
I have done some of this but not necessarily in this order. The application doesn’t seem to like the information we are providing it so it’s not creating that link to send data back to the server.
Let me know if you try this and if there is any change."
Any suggestions? I don't know who to turn to, as most of the support techs at my office work with PCs, not Macs.
Thank you!Question: Are you using the Pay version of Yahoo mail? (Yahoo Premium)? How are you sending and receiving? VersaMail?
If not, the free version of Yahoo mail will not work with VersaMail as it is not a true "POP3" account.

Mail won't use correct account for sending
I have the option checked for "Send new messages from Account of Selected Mailbox". I have several filters set up to shovel certain email list into a separate folder locally and taken off the server. When I reply to these emails, Mail ALWAYS uses my .mac account (which is at the top of the mail accounts list). It will not use the account these mails are addressed to. In Lion and before, this worked as expected. Now, in Mountain Lion, it is a problem. How do I fix it?
The way to fix it is this:
Open Mail, and click on the triangle next to, say, inbox on the left side of the screen. You should see the inboxes of all your individual accounts.
Now drag the account you want to use to the top of that list!
