Mail Not Showing Most Recently Viewed Message for a Mailbox

Mail used to go to the last message I viewed when I
selected a particular mailbox. Somehow my settings
must have changed, because now when I navigate
between different mailboxes, it just selects the
first message instead of the most recently viewed.
More annoyingly, it selects the oldest message in my
a given mailbox (the topmost). How can I revert the
settings to get my adored mailbox behavior back?
I have that same behavior occurring, but in only one mailbox. Whenever I open that particular mailbox, it defaults to the top -- i.e. oldest -- message. Every other mailbox I have defaults to the bottom -- i.e. newest -- message. Why the heck is that happening, and how do I get it to follow the same pattern as all the other mailboxes?

Mail not displaying most recent messages --1000 message capacity?

Sorry if this is a duplicate topic, I seached, but found nothing.
Here's my situation:
I have two email account on my iPhone. One is gmail, and one is my school email account. Before today, I have had no issues with mail at all, however, this morning when I go to check my school email, it showed me emails from last November as being the newest emails (and had correctely marked them as read). At the bottom of the list of emails, it said displaying "some number" out of 1000 messages. I have well over 1700 emails on this account so I do not understand why it was only counting up to 1000 of them all of the sudden, since I had passed the 1000 message barrier a long time ago.
After deleting tons of old emails, my phone then displayed messages from March of 2009, and still said "out of 1000" at the bottom. So, I logged onto my email and saw that I still had 1064 messages in the inbox. I then deleted more old messages until the inbox was at well under 900, and then all of the "missing" mail came through.
So, after my longwinded story, I guess I'm trying to ask why that happened, and if there is some email capacity I reached. I only have my phone display the last 50 messages, so I do not understand why it even matter how many messages are in the inbox.

I have the same problem and posted about it. So it's confirmed it's happening to more than 1 person. I also have 2 accounts setp up. Both are yahoo. One account is fine the other shows mail from 2 years ago as recent. I have over 2k messages in one folder and I can not delete them. They are work history. That's why I love the new yahoo cause it works like gmail and I can search that history now.
Anyway I need this fixed cause the inbox only shows about 10 new messages and then only shows like 6 months ago and older.
They have worked fine over the last month and now all the sudden I get up this morning and it went to crap..

Open Recent for V5.5 Not Showing Most Recent

After upgrading to Pages 5.5, the Open Recent list of documents is buggy - sometimes after saving a document, the list of recent documents is updated and sometimes not. Before upgrading to Yosemite and version 5.5 of Pages, this feature worked.
Clearing the menu has not resolved this issue. Changing the Recent Items number in System Preference has not resolved this issue.
I tried to report this issue using the Apple feedback link, but the dropdown menu for version number only went up to V 5.2.
Any suggestions? Anyone else having this issue?

Any pattern? Are they the most recently created or modified? Anything in common about how they are named, or in the +dot plus three+ extensions? Are you still seeing the older version of files on the Mac compared to directly in Windows.
I've not used Windows 7 so I'm not familiar with any sharing filters that are possible. If you are still seeing older versions of files, and the ones you don't see on the Mac happen to be the most recently added to the folder, it still feels to me like you are actually connecting to a different sharepoint than what you believe... maybe one that is in an backup archive or something.

Suddenly my mail app does not show any messages INBOX or SENT or anything else for that matter.
the wheel keeps runing all night with no old or new messages displayed.
even the progress bar of incoming messages gets stuck at 70% progress

I'm having the same issue. No emails after April 21 are showing in the inbox. If I go to the get account info page you can see the emails and it even says they are downloaded, but they are not showing up in the inbox.
Any suggestions?

I want to be able to see my last visted sites. History does not show most recent last visted sites.

When accessing the history tab, VIEW, 'By Lasted Visited' I don't get the most recent sites I have visited. What do I have to do to see the most recent site I have visited?

Make sure that you not run Firefox in (permanent) [[Private Browsing]] mode.
* You enter Private Browsing mode if you select: Tools > Options > Privacy > History: Firefox will: "Never Remember History"
* To see all History and Cookie settings, choose: Tools > Options > Privacy, choose the setting <b>Firefox will: Use custom settings for history</b>
* Uncheck: [ ] "Permanent Private Browsing mode"
Make sure that "Remember my browsing history" has a check-mark

Not Showing Most Recent Files

I've got a strange one. I've been able to network my imac to a dell laptop and they can see each other's shared directories. Tried to access an Excel file from the laptop and it didn't show the most recent file, but one that was nearly three weeks old. Is the imac caching the files anywhere? I didn't see any windows settings. Still getting used to the Mac world and didn't see any ability to refresh. Any ideas would be appreciated. Thanks in advance.

Mail not showing 'to' info in message list

Even though "to" is checked, I do not see the "to" info in the message list. I do see "from" "subject" And "Date". Also, how do I make the message list use smaller font? I tried changing it in Font & Colors, but it doesn't have an effect.

Thanks for clarifying. The "Columns" item under the View menu is only for Classic view. In the normal (for Lion) three-column view the title of that item changes to "Message Attributes". All of the same attributes are listed, but most are grayed out and can't be changed. The "To" attribute is among the grayed out ones.
Oddly, the "Attachments", "Date Received", "Flags" and "From" attributes are grayed out but do appear in the message list.
I agree, it would be nice to be able to enable the "To" attribute in the message list. You can sort by it, but that's less than useful if you can't see it.
I've just left feedback at http://www.apple.com/feedback/macosx.html suggesting this feature be added. You can do the same.

Text messages not showing up under "View Messaging Details"

I have sent and received texts that I've deleted and need to find the phone numbers. Do all texts show up on the usage reports on My Verizon? It looks like some are missing...

The text message details are available for 90 days. This will not include any iMessages as those are send via data.

Collapsed view: how to see "most recent unread message" instead of "first unread message" in a thread in Mail

Hey all,
I use the inbuilt Mail-software on my Macbook with Lion 10.7 and I constantly overlook new messages in a thread, as I organize by conversation and usually have all my threads in 'collapsed view'. For some reason Mail seems to prefer showing the 'first', i.e. the earliest unread message as the one message that I see in collapsed. If there are newer messages already in the thread, I don't see them, unless I un-collapse the thread. I find this really unintuitive and annoying, my inbox seems far more static than it really is.
Is there any way to change this and have Mail show me the most recent unread message as the message I see in collapsed view?
I appreciate any advice.

Apple mail not showing all the messages?

In Apple mail, for my icloud account, I have some mailboxes which show the wrong number of messages, it shows too few.
As an example, a mailbox contains 150 messages, but apple mail reports there are only 146.
I rebuilt the mailbox and let apple mail do its thing. In the activity window I can see there are 150 messages. Yet, once apple mail has finished rebuilding the mailbox, it still tells me there are 146 messages. What's going wrong? Why would apple mail not show all the messages while in the activity window it clearly shows it knows there are 150?

Solved!
This was too weird to be real. Apple mail does not show messages it believes to be duplicates, and buy, does it make big mistakes in deciding what are duplicate messages and what not! Some of my mailboxes had over 100 "duplicates" not showing according to apple mail.
I found a solution thanks to this topic:

does yield an error in 10.8.2 ( Domain (com.apple.mail) not found. Defaults have not been changed. )

How to create a new tab it will show the most recent/viewed page?

When I accidentally downloaded Incredibar, when open a new tab it keeps showing "My start by incredibar", and also very slow when loading that page. I want to get back my most recent/viewed page. I did delete the Incredibar but the problem still goes on...

Try to reset some preferences to the default with the SearchReset extension:
*https://addons.mozilla.org/firefox/addon/searchreset/
Note that the SearchReset extension only runs once and then uninstalls automatically, so it won't show on the about:addons page.

Mail not showing up in IMAP box

Hello there.
I've been through other similar threads in the Apple Mail discussions, but haven't found my specific situation.
I am using Mail to access an IMAP server, and I store no e-mail on the local machine. A few of the IMAP mailboxes show up empty, even though another IMAP client (Thunderbird) can see messages in these mailboxes just fine.
One of the mailboxes has 40 messages, and is less than 300 KB, so I'm fairly certain I'm not running into size limitations.
I have tried rebuilding the mailboxes, to no avail. I have tried deleting the IMAP account from Mail and recreating it, and the same mailboxes are still displayed as empty. I have discovered that if I move other messages into those mailboxes using Mail, the move works ok in that I can see the moved message via Thunderbird, but Mail still can't see any of the messages. I can rename the mailbox using Thunderbird and see the change reflected in Mail, but I still can't see the messages.
The advice I've seen in other threads seems to apply to Mail 1.x, mail stored locally, and large mailboxes. Any advice for this situation?

I have a bit more info on the behavior. It's somewhat convoluted, but reproduceable.
I have a mailbox with 210 messages that shows 0 messages when viewed via Mail (as previously posted, I can work with it through Thunderbird just fine, though). It turns out that Mail is choking on just two of those messages. I narrowed down which ones they were by transferring the messages in small bunches to a new mailbox using Thunderbird, then launching Mail to see if it synchs properly. It does, on all but two of the messages.
The funny things is that using Mail, I can now see 208 messages in one mailbox and 2 messages in the other, and everything works just fine. If I move either of those two messages to the mailbox containing the 208 messages, the 209 messages disappear. I can then use Thunderbird to transfer that one message back to the smaller mailbox. If I then launch Mail, quit, and launch Mail again, the two mailboxes with 208 messages and 2 messages once again appear where they should.
There is nothing special about these two messages. They are plain text with no attachments, and contain just a few dozen words each.
The problem now, however, is that the messages in the 208-message mailbox are organized by date received, and if I click on a different header (e.g., Subject), the messages are not relisted by the active header, but rather the order of the messages are simply reversed by date received.
Could there be something about the sender name or subject heading that's causing this?
Also, I have posted to this thread several times now with absolutely no response. If someone from Apple could post just so I know these posts aren't going into a support black hole, please do. I am willing to work with Apple to debug their software (even though I'm not getting paid), but I want to make sure my time spent testing and prodding has a purpose.

After downloading album covers (some not found) itunes does not show most of the covers.

You have any idea how this happens, perhaps with location of the files.

iTunes refuses to play/read file, it cannot recognizes headers, or recognizes those as corrupt, but giving no error messages. The problem is the stored artwork(s) on your music files. To correct this, select the files that are corrupted/cannot be played on iTunes&iPod, click "Convert ID3 Tags...", then select v1.1 from the dropdown box (first, try this on a few to see that my solution is working).
By doing so, iTunes replaces headers, but your ID3 tags will not be changed (I assume you are using ID3 v2.4), nor you'll lose any info or anything else. This works as a hotfix for those files. If you try to replace headers via another program, your information will be truncated, and any artwork stored will be deleted. So I recommend this one.
You'll see that iTunes cannot play most of the files that has artwork(s) stored in them. New version hasn't fixed this problem, and it has risen with iTunes 8.2.x. If it's going to take long, I suggest you should go back to 8.1.x.

Installing most recent print driver for Epson Pro 3800

I like to make sure that I use the most recent print driver for my Epson Pro 3800.
So I downloaded the driver "epson 328233 eu.dmg" and it shows up in "Finder downloads"
* I assume that this driver is the most recent one?
I have no idea how to continue to replace the existing driver and how to install the latest driver?
* Do I have to remove the present driver? If so: how do I find the old driver and how do I remove this driver?
* Thereafter in what way do I install the new driver?
I am far from a software specialist and I recently switched from PC to iMac which is still troubling me!
