Mail notification doesn't go away after opening mail

In the Mail app, after opening an email and going back to the Inbox folder, the "unread" notification is still there, I have to open the email again to make it go away.
Is anybody else experiencing this too?
Is this a bug?
Thanks

No not a bug, I only experience this with my Yahoo account.  Most of the time its due to my wifi or cellular data connection.
But I also believe it is due to the yahoo email account.

  • Mail search doesn't work well after changing mail file to another drive

Hi, I need some help making the search in mail work for Mountain Lion. After I changed the mail folder to a new drive, SSD, creating an alias, everything works fine for mail except the search. When I search most of the times I get back emails that I received before doing the change.
I already tried at rebuilding the mailboxes, and also I erased the Envelop index files, and they rebuilt themselves, and still the search is not working properly for the emails I have received since I changed the mail files to the new drive.
Other than that the mail program is working well and as I work a lot with search I am experiencing a loss of productivity.
I wouldn't like to revert it to the old drive, as the new drive is SSD and goes much faster for the big size of my mail fines.
Thank you for your help !

Send Apple feedback. They won't answer, but at least will know there is a problem. If enough people send feedback, it may get the problem solved sooner.

  • New mail notification won't go away...

    Hi there!
    I'm using MacOS 10.7.4 and Mail 5.3 on a 13" MBP from 2012.
Lately I experience the problem, that the new mail notification (those little red numbers on the mail icon in the dock ) won't disappear after I read the mail.
When I quit mail completely and start it up again the notification is gone...
This behaviour is pretty new on my machine.
Can anybody help me with that?
    Thanks in advance!

Thanks, I did restart the dock and will let you wether that solved the problem!
It'll take a day or two until I'm sure the notification will be gone for sure after I read an email because the problem didn't appear on a regular basis.

  • My voicemail notification doesn't go away on my 3GS but I have no voicemail

My voicemail notification doesn't go away on my 3GS but I have no voicemail. My phone has been shut off and when it restarts I get the popup saying new voicemail as well, but there is none.

Follow the instructions under the heading "How to unlink a phone number" on this page.

Have you tried a reset ? Press and hold both the sleep and home buttons for about 10 to 15 seconds (ignore the red slider if it appears), after which the Apple logo should appear - you won't lose any content, it's the iPad equivalent of a reboot.

updated today and cannot open my mails it says: The last time you opened Mail, it unexpectedly quit while reopening windows. Do you want to try to reopen its windows again?

    Do a backup.
    Quit the application.
Go to Finder and select your user/home folder. With that Finder window as the front window, either select Finder/View/Show View options or go command - J.  When the View options opens, check ’Show Library Folder’. That should make your user library folder visible in your user/home folder.  Select Library. Then go to Preferences/com.apple.mail.plist. Move the .plist to your desktop.
Restart, open the application and test. If it works okay, delete the plist from the desktop.
If the application is the same, return the .plist to where you got it from, overwriting the newer one.

  • Re-send a shared document - e-mail notification doesn't arrive

    Hi
Great and stylish application this sharing prog. A question though :
I uploaded a pdf-file and shared it with a friend via an e-mail notification (and link); I also sent the link to myself.
Between the sending and the opening of the file by my friend (he has no account at the service) I changed the rights from open to restricted not knowing only users/members could open the link to a restricted file.
He mailed me he could not open the file so I reset it to open and sent him the link again (with myself as cc). I don't know about him but I dit not get the second notification (the first link now worked without singing in).
When I tested the sending of the same pdf to another mailbox of mine and myself in cc I got the link in the other mailbox but not in the cc-mailbox (same as the first link).
So, once you have sent a file to a certain e-mailadress, it is impossible tot send it again ?
    thx
    Luc

    Hi Michelle
    - Put a "V" : I meant "check the box" in front of the e-mail address.
    - When I speak about "cc" I mean adding my own e-mail address after
the one of the person with whom I want to share (to check whether the
e-mail had been sent). This only works the first time. If I want to
share the document again with someone else and put my e-mail address
behind his/her address, the mail to myself never arrives (but the
    other person receives the mail).
    - I don't send from the desktop.
    grtz

I'm not sure what it means to put a "V" in front of your email address on the list? Do you mind explaining this to me?

Also, the Share UI doesn't have an "CC" option, which makes me wonder if you are sending out the files directly from the desktop version of Acrobat? I've been doing my testing using Acrobat.com exclusively...

  • Display issues after opening Mail.app

Greetings, all -- I am the personal tech support for my mother in Missouri, though I live in Los Angeles. I bought her a MacMini with OS X (Panther), she has a DSL connection and her WiFi is set up. I operate on a G4 OS X (Tiger), and typically, once she's all set up, she's good. However, as I was walking her through how to email a music file, her system has done something I can't pinpoint to advise her to correct. My system is just different enough not to be able to recreate the problem, nor find the same menus to hunt for solution. The problem happened following this sequence of steps:
She inserted a music disc into the disc-drive, opened iTunes from the Dock, and confirmed that the disc mounted.
She then opened Mail, composed new, then used the "Attach" icon to navigate to the song-file on the inserted CD; she highlighted it and pressed "return" to activate.
At this point she informed me that all addresses in her address book opened up and her computer froze -- wasn't responding to anything. She rebooted by unplugging the Mini, and restarted. When she rebooted, she ejected the CD, and reinserted it. She then opened iTunes, then closed iTunes, then opened Mail. At this point, she informed that the text and menus on her screen had become about 3x usual size, and several windows were too large as to be partially offscreen and unusuable.
Attemped fixes included "Display/Resolution" (set on 600x800-ish), which did nothing -- as well as "Dock" which did change the size of the dock appropriately, but not the rest of the screen. I have a "Show View Options" on my system that allows me to manipulate desktop icon size, font, etc., which her system doesn't have.
    Any insights? THANKS!
    MacMini   Mac OS X (10.3.9)

She messed with it until she got it back to acceptable. I'm not sure what she did, as she's not sure what she did. The woman is a MASTERmind of unresolvable problems. ;^)

  • Last Notification does not go away after clicking on it.

How is it when i download a app or even update one when the app is completed downloading or updating, the notification that will pop does not go away once pressed to be acknowledge? How do i go about fixing this or what tricks can i do to avoid turning my tablet in for warranty.

Ok since my last post the notifications does not go away on its own. There has to be a way to remove that...

  • "Read" indicator doesn't go away after mail is read.

When I open a mail message and read it, the blue dot that indicates the message is unread does not go away for some messages, does for others. If I quit Mail and restart, it will properly mark read and unread messages. This problem seems to be getting worse. It happens on both my iMac and my Macbook Pro. Both are running Yosemite 10.10.2 and Mail 8.2. Anyone have suggestions?

Generally Force Quitting/Relaunching the Finder will close the windows... better than a reboot anyway!
First thing I'd have them do is get Applejack...
    http://www.versiontracker.com/dyn/moreinfo/macosx/19596
After installing, reboot holding down CMD+s, then when the prompt shows, type in...
    applejack AUTO
Then let it do all 5 of it's things.
At least it'll eliminate some questions if it doesn't fix it.

  • E-mail notification doesn't work after software upgrade

Based on the recommendation of a sales rep; I did the software upgrade yesterday and have had nothing but problems.  All the e-mail accounts didn't work.  So I spent an hour getting my e-mails setup and guess what?
Even though I have it setup to check every 10 minutes; it doesn't work.  I have to manually go to each account and click on the 2 arrows to check.  I used to get a flashing blue light on my phone when I had a new e-mail; now I don't.
    What's going on???????????????

  • HT204407 Notification box doesn't go away after clicking Okay

Everytime I download, I log in and the blue notification box won't stop popping up about notifications so I have to restart phone and delete app to get the notification box to stop

Interesting response, I don't believe there is stubborness here... I would appear the Kmorgz did in-fact due exactly what the Pop-up Notification indicated, to "Connect to Itune to Use Push Notifications".....
I too, encountered this same behavior.  I did a verification that I can, in-fact log into iTunes and access my account, and all assoicated data.  The iPad is have no problems with any other applications "push notifications", except "Find My Friends".  Deleting the app and reinstalling it, does NOT clear the problem.  Again, all notifications are fully enabled and there is full functionality to iTunes / iCloud resources.
I went as far as to RESTORE the iPAD from a backup, and this did NOT clear the problem. My iPHone 5 and MBP are not having any problems with "Push Notifications" for any application, nor any problem with "Find My Friends".   Only having problems on one of my iPads (IOS 6.1.3), my iPhone is at 6.1.4 and the MBP is at 10.8.4
All IOS / MAC OSX devices using the same appleId
There surely seems to be some type of data corruption, which is not being cleared by a RETORE / or iPAD reset.
Toggling the notification center for "Find My Friends" doesn't reset the undesired behavior
This problem, seems to effect the iMessage and FaceTime facility as well
