Mail offline (receiving and sending), but not on all mac's

I've got severall mac's. All contain the same mail accounts, all running mavericks. On 1 mac I continuasly keep having problems with mail, saying that my accounts are off line. On other mac's the same accounts with the same settingd work fine.
I've tried restarting, turing mail online and offline several times etc. Nothing helps.
Any tips?

I would appreciate help in setting up Apple Mail to receive and send e-mails via Yahoo.   Thank you

    Sorry,
Have you tried the connection doctor? In Mail menu bar under Window connection doctor, this will usually let you know where the problem might be.

  • Mail...will send but not receive

I have OS 10.4.11, and mail version 2.1.3. When i open my mail app, the inbox circle starts spinning like it is getting mail, and just continues to spin and spin. While it is spinning, you can send mail and it works fine. But with getting mail, the circle spins and eventually times out and say "mail quit unexpectedly." I am not sure what to do. And I really need help. Thanks so much!

    Hi Kasey,
Not certain, but this can fix myriad Mail problems...
Safe Boot from the HD, (holding Shift key down at bootup), it will try to repair your Disk Directory while the spinning radian is happening, so let it go, run Disk Utility in Applications>Utilities, then highlight your drive, click on Repair Permissions, then move these folder & file to the Desktop.
Move this Folder to the Desktop...
    /Users/YourUserName/Library/Caches/Mail/
Move this file to the Desktop...
    /Users/YourUserName/Library/Mail/Envelope Index
    Reboot.

  • Mail program acts strangely - sometimes it will receive and send, sometimes not?

I use an older G5 iMac at the office, which is running OS X 10.3.9, and has Mail version 1.3.11 (v.622). For the longest time, I haven't been able to get the program to hold the password and submit it. Usually, Mail will work properly, downloading messages and sending them. Sometimes, the program will ask me to enter my password. Most of the time all I've had to do is hit 'Cancel' instead of entering the password manually, and usually after doing that once or twice, it will send the password to my mail center, download what's there, and allow me to send emails.
The past couple of days, it seems to be random chance whether the program will work. I might have to enter the password 5, 10 times to download mail, or quit and restart. Sometimes, messages I send will load properly, but most of the time it hangs at entering password and I have to enter the password multiple times.
No, I haven't changed the mailbox settings. They seem to be entered correctly.
I'd like to try reloading Mail only from the startup disc, but it seems to be integrated into the basic Install of the entire operating system. Is there a way to download Mail by itself from the startup disc?
Barring that, will reloading the entire OS cause me any problems other than having to reload the subsequent releases to resume 10.3.9?
Thanks, I appreciate it if you can help me out!

Posting this query brought up similar ones in the forum's sidebar. I'll try working with Keychain and see if that solves the problem.

  • Getting mail on phone and iPad but not late 2012 Mini. Help!

  • Mailto and Send Link not working on Mac 10.4.6

Send Link and Mail To are not working Mac OS 10.6.4. I have been unsuccessful trying Mail, Gmail, and re-installing Firefox.
I have been using Add This to send the links in an email, but would very much like to use Send LInk.
    I'd appreciate any suggestions.
    == This happened ==
    Every time Firefox opened
    == Several months ago

Yes I did. First I used Mail, then changed it to Gmail. When neither worked, I re-installed Firefox and got rid of as many apps as I could. I tried both again - but no luck.
I have copied and pasted links into either of these mail programs or used Add On,which requires opening a new tab, finding and entering the email address, closing or switching back to the original tab, etc.
    Thanks for your suggestion.

  • Can send but not receive email

I have contacted my ISP and confirmed my password and settings. I can log on and send but not receive. The emails are on the server. This problem started after I installed the latest apple security update. The isp tech felt everything was ok there and that the problem was due to the security update blocking incoming mail.
Any ideas on how to fix this?

    powerbook15   Mac OS X (10.3.9)   mail version 1.3.11 (v622/624)

    Thanks, Dave!
I had the same problem. Could send but not receive, on three email accounts all of which were on the same server. The other four accounts on two different serves worked fine. This was a sudden change and I had not changed any mail prefs for several weeks or anything on the server end in months. I spent 3.5 hours on this this evening, excahnging emails with customer suppert at the server (using the other accounts of course), going through the complicated webstie to check the server configuration, checking the prefs in mail over and over and over, setting up the email on another computer to discover it worked, throwing everything realted to these three accounts out of keychain thinking maybe it had saved an old password.
Came in here to post a plea for help and read your message. The offline bits were set. And the list of accounts under the IN heading had been collapsed (I generally have it open, don't know how it was collapsed) so that I couldn't see the obvious offline indicator. !!!
Thanks again! Where were you 3.5 hours ago?

  • TS3276 E-mail cannot receive only send. Help

E-mail can send only , cannot receive will not accept password. Help

I have the same problem which started two days ago. Still get emails on my phone and ipad but not on my mac.
Talktalk, which I use for incoming mail, does not recognise Apple computors so I send using Google.
This has always been perfect and worked fine untill this last weekend.
When I check Accounts and select Talktalk I get a message that the password cannot be sent securely.
Also I notice that the SSL is marked OFF
    Wi Fi connection is good.
May have to resort to a trip to the Genius Bar at my local Apple store.

Using iMac with OSX 10.7.5. Can send but not receive emails. No problem with internet account. Server rep tried everything and suggested perhaps a corrupted file in the op syst. Any ideas?

You may have a corrupt preference. Mail - Preferences - Accounts - click the offending account and re-enter all prefereneces. Also you can use Apple's OS X Mail: Troubleshooting sending and receiving email messages located at:

  • Mine is Yahoo where POP is used .TB is IMAP . i can receive and send mails , but when making action on TB (Del or send) no reflection on main server

    Hello there,
My e-mail is Yahoo, and Yahoo by default is POP user .
I understood from your help file that synchronization is compatible only with IMAP mail provider
I can receive and send mails from TB , but when making action on TB (Del or send) no reflection on main server, same when make the action on the main server (Del or send), no change on TB
from yahoo help I managed to find configuration for IMAP , but could not apply them on TB , as TB have already Yahoo as POP in the configuration list
    please your help on this
    best regards
    Mohamad

You cannot convert an existing account, but you can set up your Yahoo account as IMAP in parallel to the existing POP account. See

  • I have an iphone6. And out of the blue my group messages aren't working. I can send but not receiving any back.

I have an iphone6. And out of the blue my group messages aren't working. I can send but not receiving any back.  Any ideas???  I already reset my phone twice.

You should check that your settings (both directions) match this:
    IMAP (Incoming Mail Server) information:
    Server name: imap.mail.me.com
    SSL Required: Yes
    Port: 993
Username: [email protected] (use your @me.com address from your iCloud account)
    Password: Your iCloud password
    SMTP (outgoing mail server) information:
    Server name: smtp.mail.me.com
    SSL Required: Yes
    Port: 587
    SMTP Authentication Required: Yes
Username: [email protected] (use your @me.com address from your iCloud account)
    Password: Your iCloud password
Note: If you receive errors using SSL, try using TLS instead.
Your signature says you have 10.6.8 - is this correct? If you migrated from MobileMe using this your mail settings won't be correct and you will need to follow this procedure to re-enter them:
Entering iCloud email settings manually in Snow Leopard or Leopard

  • Upgraded to Tiger; Mail can Send, but not receive... help!

    Hi there,
I've come across lots of issues people have had importing all their mailboxes when they've upgraded from Panther to Tiger, but my wife's problem is different - - Mail can Send, but not receive. 'Get Mail' hasn't worked since the upgrade. I've been on the phone with my POP server provider, and all my Mail Account settings are correct. I can send mail, as I say, and sure enough, there it is in her Hotmail web page, along with all the other messages people have sent her in the last two weeks...
So why can't Mail 'get' these messages, if all the settings are correct?
    Any advice would be appreciated.
    Malcolm

    You’re welcome.
If you deleted a POP account, then all the messages stored in that account’s mailboxes has certainly been wiped out, not just moved somewhere, and you were warned that this would happen by the following alert:
    Remove Account
Are you sure you want to remove the <AccountType> account "<AccountName>"?
This will permanently delete the account setup information, mailboxes, and messages from your computer. Messages stored on the mail server will not be affected.
To prevent that from happening, you should have moved those messages to custom “On My Mac” mailboxes instead of leaving them in the account’s mailboxes. Actually, using Inbox and Sent for archiving purposes is a bad idea regardless.
If the messages are not on the server and you don’t have a backup (which you should have made before doing something like that), you may try to salvage as many deleted *.emlx files as possible with a data recovery tool such as Data Rescue II, TechTool Pro, or FileSalvage (the files to be recovered would be different in the case of Mail 1.x). Of these, the only one I know for sure that can currently recover deleted *.emlx files is FileSalvage. Stop using your computer right now if you want to try that, as anything you do with the computer may cause the deleted files to be overwritten.

Re: Macbook Pro 10.6.8 RAM Upgarde to 8 GB
The amount of RAM is not dependant on the operating system. It is all about the model of you Mac.
10.6.8 is the version of OS X that is installed on your system. It has no real baring on the amount of RAM that CAN be installed.
Personally I have never had good luck with Corsair RAM. I have always had good luck with Crucial and Kingston.

Hi, I have had an LG Octane for 4 years and loved it. I used it for email, surfing the web and facebook. But 6 weeks ago I stopped getting text messages, I could send but not receive.  I was told it was just worn out.  So I ordered another Octane from ebay, and it wouldn't connect to the internet. I was told by Verizon that the software had been changed.  So I ordered a NEW in Box Octane and I am having trouble with that too. Bing won't work, nothing will work that will enable me to download Verizon Opera mini that still works on my old phone. I have a smart phone with another number but I LOVE the Octane for daily use. Why will my old Octane work but I can't get a NEW one to.  Verizon guys are stumped too:( Please help!!  Thanks!

Why start a new and very similar thread to your other one which you have not responded to (have you read the replies?)
