Mail on iPad and MacBookPro

Hi,
I own a MacBookPro and an iPad. Since I got the iPad I don't use my MacBookPro as often as I used to. I check my e-mail on the iPad every day, but not on my MBP so unread e-mail kind of pile up in my inbox on the MBP. But not on my iPad because I read and throw away these every day. So when I fire up my MacBoocPro every once in a while, theres a nice amount of e-mail in my inbox wich I delete ofcourse (because I have read them much earlier on my iPad). But unfortunately, when have thrown away these e-mails, they reappear on my iPad as unread mail and I have to delete them AGAIN on my iPad. How do I solve this!?
Thanks in advance

You need to tell your iPad to delete received emails from the server on which they are stored.
Go to
Settings > Mail > Your Account > Advanced > Delete from Server > and change Never to When Removed from Inbox
You might also change the setting on your MacBook Pro to not delete the mail from the server when it is received so that you do not miss any mail items on your ipad on the rare occasions that you check mail on your MacBook.

How do I create new folders in mail on IPad and IPhone for saving emails?

You can't do it on the iPad you would need to do it on your computer and the folder will be seen by your account on the iPad and iPhone only if they are IMAP and Exchange accounts. POP accounts are not supported for folders.

  • Why does exchange server work for MSN Mail on iPad and not on Mac Mini?

My MSN Mail works great on my iPad and iPhone but will not work on my Mac Mini? I input the same server address but it will not connect. I've even tried m.hotmail.com, etc. but not joy.
    Any ideas please?

At the moment the only way to do this between a Mac and iPad with Outlook/Hotmail would be if you used webmail on the Mac. Anything you do in webmail would be shown on the iPad and vice versa.
It used to be possible with the free GMail to use IMAP on the Mac and ActiveSync on the iPhone/iPad which would have been the sort of solution you are looking for. Now with the free GMail you have to use IMAP on the iPhone/iPad as well (ActiveSync is no longer available in the free GMail). IMAP would sync the changes still.
Unfortunately as IMAP is not available for Outlook.com/Hotmail you cannot do the samething as a workaround.
You could get a free GMail account and have it collect all your Hotmail messages, then you could use IMAP on both.

  • Deleting and recovering e-mail on iPad and Windows PC

    We have @cox.net e-mail accounts and @jameke.com e-mail accounts.
We have an iPad 4 using Mail and a Windows PC using Outlook.
When a message is sent from another computer, it correctly appears in the Inbox in both the iPad and the Windows PC.
When a message is deleted from either the iPad or the Windows PC, it is not automatically deleted from the other.
When a message is deleted from either the iPad or the Windows PC:
It should automatically be deleted from the other device, and
It should be recoverable from Deleted Items or Trash on either device.
When a message is recovered from either the iPad or the Windows PC, it should automatically be recovered on the other device.
What must we do on the iPad to get e-mail messages to delete and be recovered as described above?

If these are IMAP-only accounts, they should work as you desire.
If these are POP3-only accounts, they cannot work as you desire.
If these accounts are capable of IMAP but you are using POP3 to access them, switch them to IMAP.

  • Reading / Deleting mail on Ipad and AOL?

When I read email on Ipad and delete them.  Do I still have to delete them in AOL?

In my experience, Deleted mail on any of my iOS devices get sent to a Trash folder, where I can permanently delete them.

  • Searching Mail on iPad and iPhone

Both in my iPad and iPhone searching Mail only brings up emails that I've sent. Why can't I find emails from others?

    Hello gswank2,
If you want to search in your incoming mailbox, select the email account you want or select All Inboxes if you have multiple email accounts.  Then type your search keywords in the inbox.  See the diagram below:

  • Unsync mail with iPad and iPhone

I  am using an iMac, system 10.9.5. I want my mail to NOT sync with that on my iPad Air and my iPhone 6plus. It used to be set that way before I got the new 6Plus and upgraded the Air. I thought the Techie who helped with download problems  had arranged that for me, but when I went to look for some old  mail today, he hadn't. This computer is out of warranty, so I cannot phone AppleCare. I am bereft.

I suspect the iCloud setting are currently set to sync. Verify the iCloud settings on all the devices you use. If you are not sure how, Apple explains how and where to look in https://www.apple.com/icloud/setup/ios.html

  • Problems with Syncing Mail between iPad and MacBook

The mail between my iPod Touch and MacBook used to sync themselves perfectly. If I got a piece of mail on one device and looked at it or deleted it, it wouldn't show up on the other device. It was like both devices could access the same mailbox and not confuse messages with one another. I loved that!!
This is not the case with my iPad. I'll get a piece of mail on my iPad, open it and/or archive it, and then it'll show up on my MacBook's mail as a brand new, unopened message...
How can I fix this? Surely there must be some sort of solution...
If it matters, this is a GMail account, and I'm using an iPad 2 (16 GB, WiFi)

I think i have found how to solve the problem. I went into address book preferences and i noticed i didn't have icloud enabled here. As long as i use icloud contacts rather than 'on my mac' contacts it now seems to delete and add across the 2 devices. Many thanks

  • Unsent Mail using IPAD and Frontier Mail

Thanks to Pedro D and TEX Mac Man my problem has been solved.  I changed the outgoing server port to 25 and shut off SSL. I know that it worked because I sent an email to myself and it arrived in my inbox

I have the same problem. iPad does not import ics from neither web or mail.
Is this another limitation of the iPad?

  • Mail on iPad and Iphone

When using the mail in IOS5 (or previous versions) why isn't there a way to mark and email as spam?

Hiya. On you iOS device, you can move a suspected spam message to your junk folder, and your MobileMe/iCloud should send a background script to apple highlighting it as spam.... Over some time it will learn and filter it out. On a mac mail, agin you can transfer messages to you junk folder and the process is the same, or as a more concrete way of highlighting spam, you can right click on the message and choose send as attachment. This will create a new mail window with the text as the spam message in attachment form. Send this to address [email protected] and all the information surrounding it will be added to apple server.
I do agree though that apple spam filters are a bit rubbish. I get hit once a month by a lot, and the range of it is so wide that I can't even set up 'mail rules'.
Hopefully though after a biit of time this will help you significantly in beating spam.
    Good luck!
    Best.

  • Mail on iPad (and iPhone) shows only old emails

    Hello.
I have migrated all my gmail emails into @me.com iCloud account. After this, on my mobile devices I can only see a few recent emails and a bunch of old emails (like the once I received in 2008 & 2009). Inbox is like this:
    2012: 5/6 emails
    2011: 20/25 emails
    2010: 150 emails
    2009: 500 emails
    2008: 300 emails
Sent folder is correctly shown from the most recent sent to the oldest.
Mail on MacBook shows everything as it should be.
I hope someone of you could help me to understand what's wrong.
    Many thanks in advance.

Set up your email as an IMAP account.Your email provider must support IMAP for this to work.

  • E-Mails in IPad and iPhone without content and sender "This E-Mail has no content"

Often I get E-Mails listet without content and no sender "This E-Mail hasn't got any content" I can't get rid of the ghost, only by  total restarts. . Why does this happen and how can Iavoid this?  Klaus

Move them out of the trash and back into the Inbox.
Open the Trash, tap Edit, tap the email to select it, then tap Move.

  • Cannot get or send mail using Apple Mail on iPhone and iPad

Everyone in my household cannot get or send mail on their Apple Mail for iPad and iPhone. We all get the same message: "The user name or password for [account] is incorrect." This just started happening yesterday afternoon. No problems before that. I called my hosting company and Apple, and both blamed the other. My Apple system is always updated, so I have the latest version of Maverick. Had no problems with it up until now.
However, I awoke this morning to find downloaded emails in the same program, but when I go to "get mail," it says the same thing, and still won't allow me to send or receive.
Here's the kicker. I also use Gmail with the exact same accounts (yes, I need both since Apple Mail does things that Gmail doesn't, and vice versa). No problem! I get all my emails and can send with no problem. So, my hosting company claims it can't be them (makes sense). It only happens using Apple Mail, and I have several email addresses. None of them work (other than the strange phenomena of suddenly getting some of them downloaded for no apparent reason).
What do I do from here? I've changed passwords, deleted and tried to set up my emails, only to get the message that they probably will not work. And they don't. I have shut down and restarted my iPad and iPhone, to no avail.
Thank god for my Gmail account, or my business would be closed.
Again, this is happening on four devices in my home: 2 iPads and 2 iPhones.

I have a comcast account I use on my phone and use it for receiving and sending mail. When you look at the account in settings, you need to check each of these
    incoming mail server: mail.comcast.net
username: the part of your email address before the @
    password: your password
    outgoing mail server: smtp.comcast.net
    Under Advanced
    Use SSL: On
    Authentication: Password
    Server Port: 995
If you cannot make it work from changing settings in the account, delete the account and start over. Use the "Other" setting when starting the account. It is a POP3 account and make the entries I gave you. Once you do that, it should check the entries and validate the account. You shouldn't have any trouble from there. Those settings will work from either the iPhone on cell, or wireless. Mine will even work when I'm at home on my wireless there, which is on the Comcast network.
    Hope that helps you.
