Mail on Windows based PC.

Sup.
I'm using Thunderbird on my Windows based to get emails from my .me account. Question is, How can I make it so the emails have been "read" on the server as well?
Basically, if I've read a message on my PC it's marked as read. And when I log into me.com the message isn't marked as read.
This is some what annoying because I also have my .me account paired to my iPhone so on there it says I've got 20+ new emails when I've already read them.
Any ideas?

The functionality you desire cannot be delivered as POP. MobileMe is designed to work with all features only as an IMAP. With IMAP accounts, the Inbox actually resides on the server, and thus when the message is read with any email client, computer or device, it will be Marked as Read for all.

I have been trying to find a way to convert Outlook 2007 pst files to Mac Mail without the need to use a Windows based computer since all I have now is a Mac. I have the copies of the pst files on my Mac, so I am looking for the most efficient way to convert them to the format that I can then open them in the Mac Mail. Any suggestions would be greatly appreciated.

Hi - thanks for the instructions but where do you get the option for Quicktime. If I do File - Export I only get the options for File name, place and size but no option that allows to select quicktime:-(

Winmail.data are not usable files. They just preserve RTF within the message.

Are you trying to set your email up on the iMac using mail? If so, you will some information from you IT department. Or you can try to setup and exchange server in mail and type your email account and password. http://support.apple.com/kb/HT3748 if it's a POP account you will need to get the setup info from IT. You can use Remote Desktop Connection to connect to your server.

Running apple mail on windows system

Hey all,
Is there anyway that I can download and run apple mail on a windows based system?
I just recently got a mac (first one!!) and am switching all my contacts to mail. But when I'm at work I'd like to have mail running on my windows based computer. I can check my mail through .mac right now, but would prefer if the program ran on my computer and told me when I got new e-mails as opposed to me having to keep checking through .mac. Anyway to accomplish this?

I don't think the Windows version of Thuderbird will have .Mac as a default account type. You'll have to manually create it.

Mailbox transfer from Apple mail to Windows Outlook 2010

There were thousands of emails in Apple mail email client. I sorted out and maild mailboxes for different types of emails. I separated work-related eails and other stuff related emails and made mailboxes for each. Now I want to move the work-related emails
to my windows laptop in Outlook 2010 email client.
I did try to sync the emails via Imap but the synchronization fails every time I try to sync the emails. I have double checked everything many times before synching but it always fails. Now I am sick of doing it as there are 10k plus mails and the sync is always
failing.
Is there any other way to transfer the mailbox from apple mail to outlook 2010. It would be very helpful of anyone can guide me to transfer only the work mailbox folder as syncing via Imap starts downloading all the emails including the others.
I just need to transfer the work folder.
Helpful solutions will be really appreciated.

CONFIGURE RETENTION POLICY TO REDUNDANCY 7;Do you have any recommendations or preferences to which should be used? Is there a preferred method by oracle?
We're currently setting up RMAN for a client that's using Oracle 11.1.0.7 standard edition, so is there a preference to what's better suited for the standard edition? The plan is to back up data to Disk, and this data will be then backed up to tape.

REDUNDANCY 7 is 7 backups -- irrespective of the number of days.
If you are running only 1 backup a day, you'd assume that it is equivalent to 7 days. However, if one day you run a backup twice, then the 7-day old backup becomes redundant ! If, the next day, you again run the backup twice, the 5-day old backup becomes redundant ! (Conversely, if you don't run a backup for 2 days, then even the 9 day old backup is not redundant !).
So, be aware (or beware) that any adhoc backup runs or changes to the backup frequency would change your retention duration (and if this happens 6 months from now, the IT Manager / DBA onsite may not know that retention has changed !)

The program builds without any problems but when I try to run the application on the simulator, the app crashes. Don't know what im doing wrong. Do I need to add any extra code or something. My daughters each received a Dell Venue 8 Pro (windows based) tablet for Christmas. I was told that the iTunes apps and games can be transferred to this tablet. I am having trouble doing this. I can pull up the iTunes accounts with all the apps online, but not play or use them on the tablet itself. Any help would be greatly appreciated.

That's normal. You can use your Windows tablets with Windows 8.1 to store your device data with iTunes, but you cannot use iPhone and iPad apps. They are designed to run only in iPhones, iPads and iPods touch with iOS, not in computers

Can ARD 3 be used for users who want to remote into a windows based server?

I have a couple users at the company I work at who will need to be able to remote into our Windows Server. These users all have Macs and will have to go about remoting in differently. I have done some research on Apple Remote Desktop but i am unsure if it fits my users needs. If I have someone download and install this software on a mac, will they then be able to remote into a windows based server using an IP address? that is my goal in mind could get some help on this one I'd appreciate it.

I'm referring to what windows can do via Remote Desktop connection.
You open up the RDC dialog box, enter an external IP address (if working remotely) or a server name if working internally and connect right to the machine. Ideally i want my users to be able to log into our terminal server and be able to use a program remotely. they will have to log on to this server with company credentials. Basically from a mac, connecting up to a Windows Server and remotely logging into it to perform tasks.
I'm really just trying to find an easy way to do this for my user's with MAC's since it is not as straightforward as in windows. I cannot test anything out at home since i do not own a mac so i come to the community to see if you guys have had the same kind of situation before.
ARD was the first peice of software that looked like it might fit my needs but if it doesn't is there anything out there? is it for free or for a cost? any help is greatly appreciated. Thanks.

Whenever I reply to an e-mail the window comes up but without the paper airplane in the top left corner. The only way to send the reply is to close it and save as a draft. Then I can pull it up from Drafts and it has the airplane on it.

Click "New Message" in the Toolbar.
When the new message window opens up, click "View" menu in the menu bar.
Select "Show Toolbar" from the dropdown.

or drag "default set" into the toolbar.
Click "Done".

Remember you only move the libraries, not the apps. So it will, as you want it to, "run normally through the imac". After the move, the first time you open the app, you have to identify the location of the library.

How can I remove a email address from my mail from window

Everytime I go and send an email from maverick mail the window from (thats me) has a misspelt address in it and my email often chooses this hence it wont send. I can send this mail by dropping the window down and choosing the rite address i.e. FROM.
I want to remove this address but I can not find it in accounts or on iCloud.

I am saying instead of manually having to type in your various emails which result in a list popping up including your error-
You need to create a list of emails you use. Therfore you do not have to type everytime you go to send a email, you just choose your correct email from the drop down menu. Simply click of the mouse.
I see now the correct path should read:
Mail>Preference>Accounts>Accounts information>>Email Address
I am suggesting this is the easiest way of dealing with the problem and why would you not already have your list of emails at hand in the drop down menu for ease of work flow.
You maybe able to route out the cache file if you prefer, and delete:

How can I record and edit using an electronic drum kit to midi on a windows based PC (That I will eventually use in Garageband)?

I know this isnt really a Garagband question and possibly a little off GB topic, but in the end I will be using the midi file in Garageband so it kind of is
I'm new to Midi recording so please bare with me.
I am looking to do the following.
Have my drummer record from his Session Pro DD505 electronic drum kit (which has a midi out) into his windows based computer via midi (He owns a usb to midi cable), so that he can then email me the midi file, so I can add it to a song in Garageband on my Mac. I will then choose the sound of the drum kit myself from Garageband.
He needs to be able to correct any errors he has made in the midi file before emailing it me, either by re-recording sections or by moving the incorrect drum notes to the correct beat.
I guess he would need to be able to hear the song that he is playing along to, and possibly have a click track playing at the same time.
So I guess what I am looking for is some FREE windows software to be able to record midi drum files into, that can also be used to edit the midi file after. A separate free piece of software could also be used to edit the drum midi files instead though.
I know that I can correct the midi drum files myself in Garageband, but I would rather my drummer spent the time doing this, not myself.
I've spent a bit of time googling this today but keep bringing up the wrong things as I'm probably using the wrong search terms.
So, any ideas?

You will be able to use the Cubase AI4 with any audio interface. Another option is to look for a 30 day demo of software like Reaper http://www.reaper.fm/index.php It won't stop after 30 days... just your concience needs to respond
Problem is though that if all you want to record is the MIDI then your drummer will also need some drum sounds in the form of a software instrument or a 3rd party VST to load into the recording software. So another program that comes uncrippled but has drum sounds in it is Ableton Live http://www.ableton.com/products However this can be an intimidating piece of software and it also cripples itself after 30 days.

5 users to contribute content from window based PC's to iWeb site

I would like to create a website in iWeb '09 which will require multiple users to contribute/publish content, but the other site collaborators do not have Macs, just Windows-based PCs.

Welcome to the discussions. Even if your five users all had Macs running the same version of iWeb, it would still be difficult for them to contribute content — because iWeb's site data is stored in a Domain file on a Mac. This Domain file would need to be exchanged around the users for updating — which is not very practical for Mac users and impossible for PC users.
Instead of using iWeb, I suggest using a web-based design app accessible from PCs and Macs. Some of these apps have specific features for sharing whilst others may be sharable by giving out the single username/password to the other users. But this could be problematic if there's only a single email address associated with the username.
