Mail or mailing distorts attached images

A few times  now, clients have received images I sent as Mail attachments, but the images are badly distorted. Usually squashed top-to-bottom. I don't know why. Is it Apple Mail? Is it the mail carrier, Earthlink? Is it some Mac-v-PC misallignment? Got any ideas?

I am having the same problem. Whenever I get a .jpg or .tiff file, I can open it and it appears fine. When I attempt to forward the email to somebody, the attachment loses resolution - I open it and it's too fuzzy to read. I find myself saving the attachment and converting to a .pdf file, and then reattaching prior to forwarding. Annoying!

  • Display problems in Mail messages with image attachment

Issue: Seeing intermittent display problems in Mail messages with image attachments
Annoyance level: minor, but Apple techs need to pass it along
Details: Regardless of mail client sending to iPhone (Outlook, OWA, Yahoo, Gmail) there are intermittent and what appear to be random occurrances of the pic being half rendered and/or the pic never loading (followed by message saying it can't be retrieved from server). In some instances the picture then appears fully rendered without a problem. Note: Image sizes varied from 14KB to 450KB

    Hi,
I'm not familiar with C#, but if possible try the following:
    1. Removing all thead and tbody tags from the body of the message.
    2. Changing all inline CSS to embedded CSS.
I've seen a user said the message stopped showing up after making the changes.
If the issue persists, please note, since Outlook 2007, Outlook opens the HTML Email and converts it to Microsoft Word format before displaying it to the user. What happens during this process is that many CSS attributes and HTML support is completely removed.
Some of the most notable absences are background-image, and padding and margin support. Hardly can we do much about this, so the message "If there are problems with how this email is displayed, click here to view it in a web browser" is actually
a good workaround when we face this problem.

If so, try using Plain Text instead.

  • Forwarding from Mac mail to iPhone images not displaying

When Forwarding from my iMac mail to my iPhone, the images are not displaying on the iPhone.
If I save the image from the email I wish to forward, in mac mail, then attach it to a new email and send it to the iPhone it displays perfectly!
Any ideas as to why? Maybe another bug?

I tried that. It does not work for me. I get a few books to appear from iTunes into iBooks. Getting them into iBooks on the Mac has never been the problem There are lots of way to do that. The problem is, they STILL not not sync with my iPad. And now they are gone from iTunes so i am not sure what is going to happen the next time I try to sync the iPad with iTunes. Luckily I have a Time Capsule backup so I can restore if I have to.
I guess the bottom line, based on several other threads, is the only solution is to kill iBooks, move it to an obscure corner of your Launch Pad (since you can't totally delete it) and go buy an third party app that will work. Apple has release several updates to Mavericks, and so far there is nothing on the horizon about restoring any of the sync ability that Mavericks took away - iTunes sync wirelessly with the iPad and iPhone, or, like here, iBooks syncing across Apple platforms.

  • Mail Changing Attachment Names

Does anyone find that their Mac Mail changes attachment names into something like ??Q?documentname?=? so you are unable to open them unless you rename and save?
I think I have narrowed it down to only happening with attachments that have a long(ish!) filename.  It only happens when a Mac computer recieves.  Doesn't matter if a Mac or Windows machine sends the mail.
Any help appreciated as 50% of my attachments are coming through in this format.  V frustrating!

Are you sure your RECEIVING email client isn't doing the conversion?
    Thank you for the help.
It wasn't actually the email client at the other end, but rather a third-party photo app on my iPad - Photogene.
I had been sending the screenshot as an email attachment from within Photogene. It seems that this app was converting it to the JPEG format. When I simply chose the image from the Camera Roll - directly in the Mail app - the PNG format was kept.
    Thanks again.

  • Forwarded mail has no images

I have a new .mac account, so I am forwarding my old address email to my .mac email using rules in the OSX mail program. I have it set up to forward the mail to my new address and then delete it from the old address. This works great except my forwarded mail has no images (just text and space for images)(just blank spaces, no symbols). Also, most of the links do not work. Anyone have any solutions?
    Thanks

    Jason,
Forwarding should normally include attachments, images and links. However, forwarding of messages with RTF or HTML will often trigger a spam filter somewhere in the path which could then alter the message. You need to be sure that is not happening. To check this send, or have someone send, a simple Plain Text message with attached JPEG to your old account, and see if this forwards correctly.
What SMTP is being used by the old account, and who provides it?
Keep in mind that if you receive messages in your old account, then you can Move them to the .Mac account Inbox with a simple Move To command in the Rule rather than a Forward, and then they would be in the .Mac Inbox with the original headers instead of those headers that result from a Forward.
    More info, please.

  • Mail incorrectly displaying images from MyFax

I use the service MyFax to receive faxes via email as PDFs with a gif image of the first page. I have two different MyFax accounts (for different businesses) with one sending the emails to a Yahoo account and the other to a Gmail account. I view all of my mail using Mac Mail, and both accounts have the same problem.
The first MyFax email that I view when I open Mac Mail correctly displays the gif image in the email which provides a preview of the fax showing only the first page. Then if I view another MyFax email, the gif image from the first email I viewed is still shown and then the gif for the email I'm currently viewing is shown and then the PDF at the bottom. From then on, every time I view an email from MyFax it shows the gif from the first MyFax email viewed. This is very annoying since the gif image takes up a whole page, and it's difficult to determine who the fax is actually from.
I have done some tests and confirmed that if I view the MyFax emails directly from yahoo or gmail on the web, the images are displayed correctly. Therefore, the problem lies with Mac Mail. Anyone else run into this problem or have a suggestion for fixing? Thanks!

The attachments have the same, don’t they? This bug has been reported here before:
Mail displaying attachment from previous email
    Image attachments on multiple messages
    Mail differentiating between attachements
AFAIK, there is nothing you can do about it other than reporting it to Apple — I have no idea whether it has been fixed in Mail 3.x:

hello apple guys, after installing OS X Mavericks, i can't open app store, reminders, contacts, mail(crash), maps, Image Capture, and other apps that comes with Mavericks OS, how i can solve this problem?

So is this the way Apple works now? Not solving customers problems? I'm sure so many users have had this problem. I've had, and I reinstalled Mavericks 3 times. Works fine for some days and then several Apple Apps stop working. Is that a way to force us ti update to Yosemite? (I don't want to) and then pay to update some third party programs (i.e. Pro Tools). Also, there are so many 15" MacBooks Pro with graphic problems and of course the guys at the Apple Service Centers always say: "It's the logic board, you can have it replaced, but it's so expensive I would recommend a new Mac".  I really, really miss Steve Jobs!

    Hi ,
There is an option of embedding index for faster search while converting email to a PDF .
However I am not sure that will serve your purpose or not .
I would recommend you to get in touch with Microsoft support as well .
Meanwhile I'll work on it and get back to you in case I get a desired solution .

  • Mailed iCal attachment shows right date but clicking will put appointment on wrong year, month and day. Even names involved are wrong!

Running Mountain Lion on MacBook Air and MacBook Pro. Suddenly a mailed iCal attachment showing the right date, time and attendees ends up years and months off on iCal with totally wrong attendiees, when clicked in Mail. iCal synced to iCloud. This may be very trivial for some of you but I need help, please.
    Thank you.

I ran into this exact issue after migrating a time machine backup from an older macbook air to a new macbook pro.
The following steps solved my issue:
    1) Backup your current mac
    2) Create a new user account on your mac, and login to that account.
    3) While logged into the new user account, right click the time machine drive and select "get info" > Click the lock icon at the lower right corner so that you can make permission changes. Then Click on the "+" sign and add your new user account to the "Sharing & Permissions" window. Be sure to grant your new user "Read & Write" privileges and when you have done so, click on the down arrow and select "apply to enclosed items" This step will allow you to copy the library folder from your old user account to the new account without hitting any permission issues.
    4) Download "TinkerTool" (An application that allows you to enable the viewing of any and all hidden files and folders on your local or mounted hard drives) and check the box that reads "Show Hidden and System Files" and then click "Relaunch Finder.
    5) Lastly copy the Library folder from the older user account on the time machine backup drive to the new user's library folder. Also be sure to copy your Desktop, Documents, Pictures, and Music folders to the new account as well. Open Mac mail and follow the instructions to import the previous accounts mail messages. Once you receive future ics attachments or calendar invites you should be able to click on them and load the proper date and time within your iCal application.
This worked for me and I hope it works for you.
    Thanks,

  • Sending Mail with attachment and preserving the order of attachment

    Hi Everyone!!!!!!
My requirement is to send Email with attachment in the same order as they were attached by Sender while composing the mail. I want to preserve order of attachment in the mail and when receiver open a mail, the attached files should be reflected in same order as it was on sender side. In my application, the documents being upload are already in my database. So, user just requires to mark the corresponding check box and enter the Sequence number for each attachment. When he clicks on "SEND" button, the Source file is first written from database to OS level and then files are attached from source available on OS . The attached file name could be anything. Based on the Sequence number file should be attached and send. My current code works fine, but problem it is that the Sequence number is not preserved in my attachment . However, when I traced the output of FOR Loop by inserting it in a table " temp_trace" I found that the Sequence is preserved in the order that I want. So, I think that uploaded files are written on the Operating system in same order but they are not attached in same order. Below is the sample code that is I am using to attach file in email. Here, the user_sequence is the sequence number entered by user.

    insert into temp_trace values(i.file_name);
    L_OUT := UTL_FILE.FOPEN(v_oracle_dir,i.file_name,'wb',32760);
