Mail / OS 10.6.3 / Yahoo

I have noticed that in previous threads that people have been having trouble syncing Mail with Yahoo, and the previous answers have all been Pro account related.
However, I have been using Yahoo with Mail with no problems forever, until the combo update, and now it struggles to update, if at all.
It asks if I want the account taking online, then throws it back saying issue with Yahoo Pop servers.
Anyone else having this problem? Any fixes available?

I have a free yahoo account and have been using it with mail for years. I can no longer download my new mails since 10.6.3. Not very helpful, but I just wanted it to be known there are a few of us having the same problem.

Mail will no longer get yahoo mail

Mail was working great with yahoo mail plus, now it quit May 24. I seem to be able to send, but it won't retrieve my mail anymore. I've checked the settings and they are the same they always were. Went to yahoo and can't find any help. Is this happening to anyone else.

Mac Mail doesn't display new Yahoo messages

Mail application on my Mini was somewhat erratic so I did the usual trick of removing "com.apple.mail.plist" and restart application. Now all my accounts are working as they should be except Yahoo.
I deleted and added Yahoo account twice, the settings are OK but I can't see my new messages for this particular account. (IMAP)
Yahoo account is working. I can send and receive from my iPhone and iPad.
Mail displays the folders on Yahoo server.
I can see the "Sent" messages.
At the bottom left of the sidebar, I can see incomiing messages but once they are retrieved no new messages are in the Inbox.
Can someone please help?

I checked email several minutes ago. Activity Monitor now shows it as using 0% of CPU time. When that's the case it's now using any power at all. Every so often it will "wake up" to check for new mail. When that happens it will briefly use some CPU power. That interval can be controlled with the setting for "Check for new messages" in the General panel of Mail's preferences.
You didn't ask about RAM, but when Mail is idle I'd expect it put minimal demands on RAM.

How to send mails to external maild like yahoo

Do I need to use flag some thing ?

It is posible to send the mail to external address usign the above FM . But some configurations have to be maitnaied in SCOT Tcode for INT (Internet) ->SMTP protocal. we need to give the Mail Host and Mail Port all this information is usually done by the BASIS. Please approach them for these settings and try again with the FM. Here we have to configure it to Yahoo so that we can send the mail.

Mac Mail deleted inbox messages from yahoo mail, how to get them back?

I recently started using the Mac Mail client with my yahoo-plus email account.
What Mac Mail did was delete ALL inbox messages from my yahoo account, after one week from importing them to Mac Mail.
The inbox messages can still be found in the Mac Mail inbox, but not in yahoo's inbox.
I was wondering if there is a way to retrieve these deleted messages back to my yahoo inbox.
Also, I was wondering about the sync feature on the Mac Mail and what will actually happen if I use it. Does it apply to mail messages, or to address book and calendar entries?
I would appreciate you help on this issue.

Not Really, you could forward them to your account, after you've told your mail program not to delete the emails at all, but they will show up as being from you instead of the original sender. The originals at Yahoo have been dumped and probably purged. It would take an IT manager at Yahoo to manually replace the emails, not much chance of that.
I've already asked yahoo to "restore" my inbox to a day ago. That should help me with retrieving some of the messages back, I hope.

The sync feature refers to IMAP email accounts like .Mac or .Me or an Imap gmail account. I didn't think Yahoo offered IMAP email accounts.
Apple's MobileMe membership will let you sync your Mail, AddressBook, Calender, personal website with iWeb, etc.

I wanted to use Mac Mail, see if I liked it or not, then decide to get a MobileMe account. However, this is still a side note, since my yahoo account is my main email client.

On Yahoo Mail...and ONLY Yahoo Mail..I get a 404 error after entering my user name and password. This doesn't happen with IE, just Firefox, and just Yahoo Mail. Yahoo was absouletly no help whatsoever; can you solve the mystery? Thanks

thanks so much for your posts back. I really appreciate it and yes that does help to know that you could not get it working.
I did have some success, in removing the SSL Authentication checkbox in the smtp server settings - I found that this allowed my friend to be able to send mail from the mail app via his sbcglobal (yahoo) account.
So that did help but of course the messages do not have ssl encryption and I'm not sure how big a deal that is for an individual. He is able to receive mail but unless the SSL authentication box is unchecked, he cannot send.

Ovi mail web access interaction with Yahoo groups

Ovi mail is powered by Yahoo mail, and I have one Yahoo account solely for use with ovi mail. I have another Yahoo account for accessing (a lot of) Yahoo groups. I can't have a web interface up for both on the same computer at the same time because they interact and want to use the same account. If I start Yahoo groups first, then start Ovi mail and log in, the Yahoo Groups window changes to the Ovi mail Yahoo account. Nokia, ask Yahoo to fix this, please! Cheers and TIA!

Please check the AdminCount value in Attribute Editor tab for this ArchiveMail account. Confirm if it is set to 1 which indicates that this user is a protested account which is protected by AdminSDHolder.
If that it the case, please clear the value for this attribute and check whether the issue persist.

This is how I fixed it on my new iPhone 5S. Using the standard yahoo setting on my phone.
You will have to access "managing your app passwords" on your account profile for yahoo. Generate password for your app. For example: "My iPhone 5S'
Go to your Iphone and set up your yahoo mail account on your phone the normal way and you have to use the generated password. instead of the yahoo account password.

Calendar information other than iCloud is not showing in Notification center from Mails such as Gmail, Exchange, Yahoo

After iOS 6 update on iPhone 4S I'm unable to see any information on Notification Center regarding any calendar information from mail boxes such as Gmail, Yahoo, Exchange server etc. But, calendar information is available only from iCloud mail box.
Please help me to get the calendar information in Notification center from mail boxes other than iCloud too.

They ignored us then and when MobileMe became iCloud they ignored us again, and just carried on with a system that will not update the e-mail read status across all devices

Mail won't send to Yahoo Japan

When I try to email my boyfriends PC, Apple mail will not send the message. It tells me to ensure I have entered the address in correctly, which it is, but it will never send the email.
His PC address ends with @yahoo.ne.jp
but I can email his phone address, which is @d8.dion.ne.jp

For no apparent reason, my email will not autofill addresses. I have no problem on IE, Chrome or Opera. This problem just started with firefox within the last 24 hours. My mail server is AT&T/Yahoo, and I use webmail - not a mail program.

With all other browsers, when I compose an email, once I start to put the recipient's name in the To box, it will autofill the name if it is in my Contacts. I am using an iPhone 6 plus on iOS 8.1 and suddenly my Yahoo email account will not populate to my Mail app. I have deleted and re-added the account and also re-booted the phone with no luck. I get the spinning wheel up by my Wi-Fi signal that suggests it's attempting to do something, but the bottom of the Inbox only says "Updated Yesterday." Has anyone else experienced this or can someone, especially an Apple employee, tell me how to fix this?

There is no Apple in this user to user technical forum, if you want an Apple employee you would need to take your phone to the Apple store.
What happens when you switch to using cellular data? Does your email update?
FYI - Yahoo email account is notoriously bad, you can try their app.

Why doesn't firefox 8 or 9 open e-mail imbedded (zip) pictures in Yahoo like IE8 does?

I use Yahoo mail in both IE8 and Firefox 8 (now 9). Many times the imbedded pictures in email are not shown except as an attachment which must be downloaded and opened by an ancillary program (don't know which one IE8 uses). IE8 will open the file and place the pic within the text.
Firefox ask me which program to use and I haven't got a clue.
There is also a "slideshow" prompt next to the attachment which presents a orange bordered black screen. It goes through the pictures by count but nothing is ever seen. This is probably some Yahoo program. I've only seen it in the last two months.
I know for certain that some of this mail comes from a Win7 computer using Gmail.
I'm not crazy about Yahoo but I've been using it for years, because it's free, with intermingled calendars with Google's Gmail which is linked to my smart phone.
I prefer Incredimail (also free) as my e-mail processor (thru Gmail). It has some great stuff and displays everything that comes in exactly where it is suppose to be. Can't intermix with Yahoo unless one is a paying subscriber.

Why am I getting an error message,"windows can not find(my Yahoo mail launch address)"when accessing Yahoo mail site?

Using WindowsXP, and e-mail via Yahoo,browser is Firefox 4.0.I get the following error message when accessing yahoo mail site:"http://us.f831.mail.yahoo.com/dc/launch?action=welcome&yy=1782408664&.rand=0qrsdp1o...Windows can not find(the above address is inserted here).make sure you typed the name correctly,and try again". After this message is displayed on my desktop it begins to fade,and the inbox of my yahoo mail is then displayed..I am able to work all functions of the mail without problems.( I might add at this point that i access the mail program via a desktop icon).When I close out of the program the error message box with the error described above is displayed again on my desktop.I must click on the "X" to remove it.I can access my yahoo mail via Internet Explorer with no problem,as well as accessing via my yahoo home page.
