Mail overloading server shutting down my websites with 500 error
Im using Host Gator and they only allow 25 processes running at once or it shuts down all of my sites (with the plan I have). Over the past 1.5 years this has been a royal pain. The culpret is Apple mail. It for some reason wont allow me to limit access to how many times it looks for the mail. If it does I cannot find the setting. Basically what Ive been told is to limit access to once every 30 minutes and that will fix it. Ive also unclicked the "idle command"
I also have an iphone and iPad which is contributing to the access rate being too often.
Im told this is unique to Apple mail. Cant imagine others are not having similar issues.
Anyone have a clue or a way around this?
Its set for every 30 minutes but it keeps overloading the server with too many processes still. Any other ideas? Supposedly the processes deactivate after a few minutes so something else is happening that causes it to overload more often than not as Im getting customer complaints.

Mail, outgoing server shut down, incoming mail is working
I can't send mail. When sending, I get a message that outgoing server is shut down. I have no problem receiving mail.
I installed Mountain Lion a few days ago (on my MBP), dont know if there is a connection?. I have the same problem
on my iMac. I have not installed Mountain Lion on the iMac. I called the provider (telia). The say they don't have any problem.
I connected to web mail and sent mail from there. It worked.
I would be grateful for suggestions how to find the problem.
Thanks in advance! How is your Mail preferences set up for outgoing? Port 25? No authentication? SSL checkbox not checked? And I assume you mean that you can send email when you are at home when your computer is affiliated to your wireless router, not that you specified 192.168.1.1 or whatever as your smtp server in Mail's setup. If your outgoing mail server is through an email account provided by your ISP, they frequently do not require authentication because they can authenticate on the fact that your IP address belongs to their pool of IP addresses -- when you are at home. But when you aren't home, then you are trying to relay mail from a "foreign" IP address through their server -- and if the mail isn't going to one of their accounts, they block those, otherwise every spammer in the universe would be relaying spam through their servers. I would try changing your outgoing mail config to port 587 with username/password authentication and SSL checkbox checked. I would try similar changes on the incoming side, SSL checked and port 993 if imap or 995 if pop -- if you leave it 143 or 110 without SSL then your incoming mail traffic, including you sending your password, is done "in the clear." The SSL settings should work whether you are at home or on the road. If they don't work, contact your email provider and ask them how to set up a common configuration that works from home and anywhere else.

My MacBook Pro keeps shutting down and restarting with an error?
My MacBook pro is running the latest of Mavericks, all up to date. My computer just likes to shut down by itsself and reboot with an error saying "there was a problem blah blah blah, press any button to continue"
I've brought it in and the genius bar it was software, but I think it's either my RAM failing or my Harddrive failing. Any ideas? The 2010 MBP has had a problem with GPU/LB

Mail Services keeps shutting down
I have been plaque with this problem for about two months. I have 5 static ips and I use one of the ips to host a webserver and very small mail server. I am on DSL. My problem is my mail server always shuts down after a couple hours. The error is
127.0.0.1 port 25 is already in use.
I usually restart the server and everything is fine for a few hours and the mail is shut down.
I am using 10.4.5 OS X Server G4 1.4 GHZ Sawtooth.
this is my postconf -n:

This what I get when the mail server shuts down. The previous post suggestion didn't work. Shuts down the mail server even quicker....seems like every 10 minutes the mail server shuts down. -
Activation server shut down for Creative Suite 2, Acrobat 7, and Macromedia products
Effective December 13, Adobe disabled the activation server for CS2 products and Acrobat 7 because of a technical glitch. These products were released over 7 years ago and do not run on many modern operating systems. But to ensure that any customers activating those old versions can continue to use their software, we issued a serial number directly to those customers. While this might be interpreted as Adobe giving away software for free, we did it to help our customers.
If your software is affected by the activation server shut down then you will receive an error that the Activation server is unavailable. The specific affected products are as follows:
Acrobat 7.0 - Windows
After Effects 7.0
Audition 3.0
Captivate 1.0
Contribute 2.0
Contribute 3.0
Creative Suite 2.0
Director MX 2004
Dreamweaver MX 2004
Fireworks MX 2004
Flash Paper 2.0
Freehand MX
GoLive CS2
GoLive 9.0
Illustrator CS2
InCopy CS2
InDesign CS2
Macromedia Studo MX 2004
Photoshop CS
Photoshop CS2
Photoshop Elements 4.0
Photoshop Elements 5.0
Premiere Pro 7.0
Production Studio Premium
The activation server being shut down will not affect currently installed and activated Adobe software. You will only face this difficulty if you need to reactivate the software.

Still facing installation difficulties?
If you are experiencing an installation issue with the software currently available I would recommend creating a new thread in the Downloading, Installing, and Setting up forum - http://forums.adobe.com/community/download_install_setup. If you can please make sure to include the following:
• What software are you trying to install?
• Which operating system are you using?
• Was the software previously installed prior to downloading the non-activating version currently available?
• What specific error messages are you receiving when trying to install?
Please also see the original discussion on this topic at http://forums.adobe.com/message/4919014#4919014.Hello Jeff.
EN version is not so eaqual in all with CZ version, I have PREMIUM one, not Standard.
So I download these EN versions and Acrobat 7Pro separately.
It look that it works, I have it installed on my presentation laptop. I ussualy work on PC and laptop is for bussines trips mostly.
When I was working on my PC I found in menu one interesting option. I have installed CS2 in 2010 so it works OK, still in CZ. What I found in menu is called "Licence Transfer".
I didnt try it because I dont want to loose my activation on PC, but could you please say to me what does this option means?
Is it possible to copy licence on flash disk and use it on laptop, but it still be in PC also? Or it is only for deactivation, so you will loose it, and after this you can do new activation (which is impossible by server shut down)?
And one question to the end, if I buy some later version like CS4 or CS5 (from some graphic studio which have one licence to sell-transfer) so do Adobe plan to shut down server too, for CS4, CS5 or after this non user/customer friendly solution (I mean for CS2) will Adobe do some application which we can install on our local PC and this app will say to CSxx "Your licence is OK, just continue in work" ?? --- this would be much better, I think if Adobe do this so it will be the same like no-activation versions in EN only but without so many complains and impacts on your customers.
Thank you for reply me -
# Question
In IE if I set the zoom at lets say 150% it will stay that way even if I shut down. But with firefox, it goes back to small print every time I view a new page. Is there a way to set the zoom to stay at a larger size? Thanks, EHIf you need to adjust the font size on websites then look at:

Mail will not shut down so mac stays on
Mail stops mac shutting down.
Hey richardfromloveland,
Thanks for the question. I understand you are experiencing issues with the Mail application on your MacBook. If you are unable to quit the application, you may need to force quit it:
OS X Mavericks: If an app freezes or quits unexpectedly
http://support.apple.com/kb/PH13975
If the app is frozen, force quit the app. Press Option-Command (⌘)-Esc, select the app, then click Force Quit.
When you force an app to quit, you may lose unsaved changes.
Thanks,
Matt M. -
Why does my Mail program keep shutting down?
At least daily, my Mail program unexpectedly shuts down. It never happens while I am actively using the program so I have not lost any data; however, it is abnormal and is starting to make me feel a little concerned.
Hello RCraig1984,
The article linked below details some useful information and steps that can help isolate and resolve issues with applications quitting unexpectedly.
OS X Lion: If an application quits unexpectedly

After start-up from sleep mode, Mail 6.2 shuts down and needs to be rebooted
After starting my iMac (Mountian Lion OS) from sleep mode and then staring Mail, Mail will crash (shut down) and needs to be restarted. This does not happen every time but enough to be annoying. Does anyone else also experience this and is there a fix? I have sent problem reports to Apple but they just seem to go into a black hole with no response. I would appreciate any help or advice. Thanks in advance.
I am also seeing the symptoms of this on my large (3500+) network of macs. We have seen it happen on MacBooks and MacBook Pros. I am curious to know do you have multiple airports in your environment or a single airport?
Also have you found any way to mitigate these effects (i.e does it still happen if you go to the apple menu and choose the sleep command)
Just curious, I want to find a solution to this because it seems to be very similar to what our users are seeing. -
I can't shut down my computer because it says mail is open. It says to close mail and continue shut down. Problem is I can't open or close mail now. Can't shut down my computer at all. What can I do?
If you cannot get mail to quit/force quit, you can always remove power from your Mac.
NOTE: removing power is a bad idea, and can result in data loss, but sometimes it is the only thing left to do.
Press and hold the power button for 5 to 10 seconds, and the Mac will power off.
When you power back on, the Mac should reboot. -
purchased Lion, installed it - once I log in - i get the curtain and message to hold the power button till it shuts down. Worked with the disk repair utility - fixed permissions to hold the power button till it shuts down. Worked with the disk repair utility - fixed permissions - still can't get past the "black curtain of death" any suggestions?
My machine was patched to date 10.x.x. I was lucky to get an internet connection and I selected the option to re-download Lion... its curruently being downloaded. What if that doesn't work?
Any thougths would be appreciated.

Re: Activation Server shut down for Creative Suite 2, Acrobat 7 and Macromedia products
Software : Adobe Encore DVD 2.0 / UK, purchased october 24, 2006
Operating system : Windows XP home edition / SP3 Computer : Pentium 4 / 1,8GHz - 512 MB
Other software : Adobe Premiere 6.5 / Photoshop Elements 5.0 / QuickTime 7, etc.
My harddrive crashed and I lost all my software. I had to reinstall. Everything is okay now but when I activate Encore DVD 2.0, I get the message "Activation server shut down for ........." I searched for the free download (without activating) of the CS 2 Premium, but I cold not find it. I only found the normal CS 2.
Who can help me.If what you want is not at this link, http://helpx.adobe.com/x-productkb/policy-pricing/creative-suite-2-activation-end-life.htm l that would indicate that Adobe did not provide a special version
