Mail pages down too far

I'm surprised to not be able to find anyone commenting on this behaviour - is it just me? In Apple Mail (and possibly other applications) reading a multiple page length email by scrolling with the page down key will jump the visible section to well beyond the currently visible section.
For example, suppose I'm reading a 200 line email, visible in the rightmost pane of Mail. The lines 1 to 50 are visible, but when I press the page down key, or click the scroll bar in the empty space at the bottom, the visible pane will then show lines 60-110. In contrast, Opera and TextEdit will both scroll to the equivalent of 49-99, leaving at least a line of context at the top of the new visible area.
Notably, this issue got worse between Maverick and Yosemite. In Maverick the line at the bottom of one pane would be just barely be visible at the top of the next. In Yosemite it's not even close. It makes reading email via the keyboard very frustrating indeed.
Is anyone else seeing this issue? Any ideas for resolving it?

If you don't mind changing the layout, the classic layout doesn't do that. In Viewing under Preferences, there's a checkbox to use classic layout. The message headers are displayed above the preview pane, instead on the side. But the preview screen does scroll down a bit less than a page when hitting spacebar.

Mail slow down; too many messages?

Mail (4.4) has slowed down a bunch here. I click on an unread message and it takes a good 5 seconds (or more) to show the message and any pics in it. (most of the time it seems to display the wrong message for a quick spell, then go and wait on the correct message)
I do have 9 accounts (and 3 dead ones) Most IMAP and some POP. I do sync and also keep/move a bunch to the On My Mac section.
Is there a way to find the total # of messages in Mail? (not just a selected folder)
I might just go the mailSteward route and keep Apple Mail lean and mean.

I wish I could offer a solution ... I'm posting because I'm also suffering from brutally slow search in Apple Mail. I have multiple mailboxes with lots of messages using IMAP and POP with Gmail but must it really take (literally) a minute to type something into the box and get results? Even more frustrating, typing into the box is slow ... each letter takes 5-10 seconds to apppear!
I tried "vacuuming" my mailbox according to instructions I found online. That made it a little smaller but didn't help noticeably. My sense is that the indexing is screwed up or I simply have too many messages and it's choking on it.
I'd love anyone's input! I'm a recent convert (back) to Mac OS and I'm just not sure how to begin fixing this problem.

My power button is pushed down too far.

My power button is broken. It is pushed down far enough where I can no longer press it. I just got this phone, I ordered it off Sprint's website, back in October. How can I get this replaced or fixed?

Adobe Muse Accordion Panel tabs drop down too far in the browser

I have designed a 3 tab accordion panel which works fine in Adobe Muse design mode but when I preview in the browser each drop down panel appears a lot deeper than the design.
I designed the drop down panels as 100px high and when looking at inspect elements on the browser it says they are 157px high? How can I fix this to display correctly?

On firefox, netzero mail page font too small, aol ok. How do I change font to bigger so I can read mail?

A couple of days ago, I was using Firefox and reading my email on Netzero.com when the letters suddenly went to very very small and I have trouble reading my email. I switched to the email on AOL.com and the letters were of normal size as usual. Netzero says I should open Mozilla Firefox to click "tools", "options", "content", to fix the font size. But when I click the brown "Firefox" window, I do not see any of the items Netzero says to click. Do you have any suggestions as to what Netzero is talking about or how I can increase the size of the print so I can read my email on Netzero while I am using Firefox?

Not an ideal solution, but some users change the setting in: System Preferences>Displays, select the Scaled button and choose another resolution.
If you are within 14 days of purchased you can return the computer for a refund if you dislike it that much as Apple do have a good returns policy (so long as you purchased from Apple and not a reseller).

Sending mail to a bunch of recipients, got a message failure, but can't reach the connection doctor. It's too far down

I was using Mail to send a message to about 200 recipients.
Got a message
"Cannot send message. Did not recognize the following
   recipients:
   xxxxxxx
   xxxxxxx"
200 addresses down
Cannot reach the Connection doctor button.
It's too far down.
How can I erase it?
I still use Mail, but the message failure is still there.

Try this settings on your Router, This will solve your problem.
Open the set up page of the router by launching an Internet Explorer Browser and type the address bar, 192.168.1.1 and press enter. When it prompts for the username and password, leave the username field
empty and provide password as admin and click on ok.
On the main setup page the ""Internet Connection Type"" should be
on ""Obtain IP Automatically - DHCP “. Click on the Save Settings
button.
Now click on the sub tab ""MAC address clone"".
- Click on enable
Click Clone & click save settings
Check WAN Ip on Status page of router ....
If getting Valid Ip .... try going online
If not ... power cycle for 4-5 minutes & then again check the WAN Ip address .....

The "page down" key goes too far down - how can I adjust it?

When I'm scrolling through an article or webpage and hit the "page down" key, the jump down is too far and I have to scroll back up a couple lines to see what it missed. Is there a way to adjust that?

Are you zooming the page or have adjusted default font sizes?
It is possible that this affects the behavior of scrolling as this can be a fixed amount of pixels.
Look at these prefs (see about:config) to set the scrolling behavior with the keyboard.

Creating a 1 page scrolling site - problems with the final section scrolling too far

I have created a 1 page scrolling site that works fine apart from the final section, which scrolls too far. My site is made up of a pinned headr, a pinned footer, and 4 sections (defined by rectangles - each one 1011 pixels high). I have used scroll effects to bring the items in and out.

The problem is with the contact us section, where you seem to be able to scroll further than the bottom section.
These are my document set up settings:
so my height is set to 4042 (though I have tried it with 4044 - 4x1011 - it makes no difference. When I click on the link to the contact section it looks fine, but I then seem to be able to scroll further down, and this seems dependant on the monitor / browser size. The problem is more pronounced with a smaller monitor / browser size in height.
I have tried everything I can think of to make it not scroll beyond what the anchor takes it to when I click on the link, but whatever I do the problem seems to persist.
I would welcome any suggestions on this, and also any general feedback on the site. But help with the problem first please.

Thanks for the help. Is there a way that I can upload the file for someone to look at - I have tried your suggestion but cannot find any empty text boxes or anything at the bottom. I have gone top right and tried the upload file section but it tells me that I am not allowed the create the content.

TS4002 Scrolling in iCloud e-mail is just too fast. How can I slow it down?

That small e-mail scrolling bar just moves too far too fast. I want to be able to view my e-mails a few at a time then move on to the next few. As it stands now, it skips way ahead with the slightest touch. There are no arrow heads top and bottom to control the movement. How can I control the scrolling??

Aha! Sussed it!
Click 'Follow Tempo' in the inspector on each track. This activates the Transposition function in the inspector. I've reduced the tempo by 20bpm and set Transposition to -2 on each track.
Hey presto, no longer do me and my mates sound like we had been drinking way too much caffeine two decades ago!

Mail Version 2.1.3 (753.1/753) - home / end / page up / page down broken

Hi Gang,
Since upgrading to 10.4.11, Mail Version 2.1.3 is no longer responding to home, end, page up and page down keys. It's very annoying to have to use the mouse to page down, shift-select, and delete to remove un-wanted text from messages.
Have others experienced this, and found a fix?

In every version of Mac OS X I've used, since 10.2, the Home and End keys have never done anything in Mail, and nobody else I know has ever reported them working for anything, either. So I think you may be mistaking having used that key in Mail. .
However, Page Up and Page Down do work, as I use them every day. Are you saying that those two keys do nothing at all, or just not what you expect? And how do you have your Mail window setup (single pane, with a list of messages to scroll through and double-click to select, or with two panes--the message list on top and the selected message appearing below it)? That would also make a difference as to when Page Up/Page Down work.
Try both views, and if Page Up/Page Don't work in either, post back with more details.

It has always been that the upgrade tries to be the "master" over the older version.
Anyway in Pages 09 you have probably the Comments field showing, making all contetn to move to the right.
Go to View menu > Hide Comments.

When I open my iPad the page is too big for the screen and won't shrink down. The keypad has also become very 'sticky'

Recently when I open any apps the pages are too big for the screen. They shrink when pinched but immediately become bigger again. It's very difficult to scroll too. The keypad has become very sticky. Missing letters and spaces when I type and needing to tap the keys much harder than usual

I have the exact same problem, I think. I was on my iPad 3's home page swiping R-L to locate a certain icon when all of a sudden the screen appeared to get HUGE. So big I could only see one or two icons. I couldn't even turn it off to try a reboot because after I pushed the sleep/wake button, I couldn't find the red slide bar. I finally just had to wait for the battery to die, then recharge it, and it looked normal again. I also spoke with several friends who haven either iPads or iPhones, and they've all had this happen to them. I checked my accessibility settings, and Zoom was already off. So what is causing this problem for so many people, and what can we do to prevent it? Please help.

Ipad- wireless - Mail page crashes after a few seconds and cannot stay open

Having operated well for for a while now the Mail page only opens for a few seconds and closes down. I have re-synched with Outlook; powered down etc. but no luck so far with resolving this

So- went to my ISP mail service and deleted all emails - there was one that was a failed delivery message(? culprit). Went to iPad and inactivated the email account. Did an iPad reset. Then reactivated the Mail account via Settings. Seems stable now !

Where are Home, End, Page Up, Page Down on MBP keyboard?

I just bought a MBP-15 after spending my entire computer life with Windows. I have a fairly sophisticated spreadsheet that I created in Excel that I now want to use in Numbers. But I'm hung up on the simplest thing - Home & End. I've read other postings and guides related to the keyboard, but everyone else seems to indicate that there are already Home & End keys (and Page Up/Page Down keys) on the keyboard. I have none - at least none that I can find. I just have the standard MBP keyboard, including the F1-F12 function keys (plus fn, option, control, command, & arrows). All of the key remapping posts talk about their use in text like a Safari e-mail. For spreadsheets, Windows lets me take a formula in 1 cell, ctrl-c to copy it, then shift-end-down and ctrl-v to paste that new formula to the end of the existing column. How is this done in the Mac world? Very frustrating so far. If it matters, I'm using Numbers '09 with Lion. Any and all help appreciated.

(Enter and confirm the formula in the initial cell if it's not already there.)
Select the initial cell.
Scroll to the bottom row using the thumb on the vertical scroll bar.
Shift-click on the bottom cell to select it and all cells between it and the initial cell.
Go Insert > Fill> Fill Down.
OR
Select the initial cell (containing the formula)
Copy (command-C)
Scroll to the last cell as above.
Shift-click on the last cell.
Paste (command-V)
Numbers design model favors documents containing several small single purpose tables, not large ones. The maximum size of an individual table is 255 columns by 65355 rows. In practical terms, then limits are much smaller in terms of deteriorating performance speed.

TS3276 On the left side of the mail page there is an "On My Mac" header with several folders included. One of the folders, in white, is one called "recovered mail" I don't know how this got there and am not able to delete it. Not receiving any email now.

set the wake-on lan on the main computer
The laptop's too far away from the router to be connected by ethernet. It's all wifi.
No separate server app on the laptop, it's all samba
The files are on a windows laptop and a hard drive hooked up to the windows laptop. The windows share server is pants, so I'd need some sort of third party server running. Maybe you weren't suggesting to use Samba to connect to the windows share though?
I'm glad that you've all understood my ramblings and taken and interest, thanks The way I see it, I can't be the only netbook user these days looking for this kind of convenience, and I certainly won't be once chrome and moblin hit the market.
