Mail - Printing Finder Window/List of "Incoming & Saved Mail - On My Mac"

In Mail, is it possible to print the finder window list captioned “Incoming & Saved Mail - On My Mac” and if so, how? (I couldn’t figure out how to do this with PrintFinder or Print Window.) Thank you!

Use Address Book, also called Contacts in later versions of OS X:
http://support.apple.com/kb/ht2486
Mail pulls its email addresses from that application. See also:

  • Unable to print finder window

Back in the days of MACOS 7, 8 and 9.0 operating systems, one could print any finder window (dailogue box) by simply holding down the "apple" key and hitting "p".
How can I print finder windows with Mac OSX? I want to make lists of what is in certain folders.
    Thanks.

Not like it used to be, but still possible.
    1) Drag the folder to any printer icon (Printer Setup, a Desktop printer or a printer in the Printer Setup list, for example)
    2) Get the free utility Print Window (www.versiontracker.com)
    3) Drag the folder to the free Text Wrangler for a better hierarchical view, then print.

Prices have crashed. Look and you can find Samsung 128's and others for $89 sometimes.
It is not just moving the OS and data apart, though it does matter, and more from you should never have the OS cluttered with data, been doing that for... 35 yrs. 0.01 ns vs 10 ms. 60k IO's per second. Reads in 220MB/sec but held back from making full use of SATA 6G.

  • How do you PRINT a Finder window list view?

    Hello all.
I think a long time ago in OS9, we can open a new (Finder) Window, switch to 'List' view and print the window, so that we can see all the nested folders, etc.
Can we/How do we do this in OS X? Can't seem to find a Print command...
    Thanks and cheers

Press the Shift, Command, and 4 keys, followed by the spacebar, click in the window, open the png on the desktop, and print that.

  • Inconsistent and incorrect file icons in finder window list view

I have been seeing incorrect file icons in finder windows noteably for PDF files the last couple of weeks on my office MacMini running 10.5.8. Some just look messed up. Some switched and looked like Evernote files, but they open correctly in the default application - Preview.
Get info would show the same incorrect icon, but correctly show Preview as the default application.
Just now I tried clicking on CoverFlow view and when I went back to List view, the icons looked correct again.
What type of system maintenance if any is needed to correct this issue? Note, these files continue to display correctly on my home iMac where these files are synced.

    Thanks for the reply Baltwo.
I followed your directions. After the restart the PDF icons were all displayed correctly.
However, some .doc file icons were blank. Selected one, got info, set it to open with MSWord and then clicked "apply to all." Most, but not all now display the Word logo. Some remain blank, although get info reveals they are set to open with Word. Will another restart fix this or is there another suggestion?
I will be away from this computer till Monday.

  • Can't open Mail or Finder windows after 10.10.2 update

I have just updated to 10.10.2, and now cannot open any Finder windows, or the main Mail window.  I have tried restarting the Mac, but no joy.  What steps can I take to rectify this issue?
    Thanks,
    Nick

    1. From the application's menu bar, select
              Window ▹ Zoom
Some applications don't have this menu command.
    2. If an external display is connected and turned off, either turn it on or disconnect it.
    3. Open Mission Control. Close all desktops except Desktop 1 by positioning the cursor over each one and then clicking the X button in the top left corner. In Desktop 1, move the missing window, if need be, so that it won't be hidden behind the Dock.
    4. Open the Displays pane in System Preferences. If there is an Arrangement tab, select it and then uncheck the box marked

  • How to Print Finder Window

This has perplexed me for some time but I'm just getting 'round to asking ...
I miss the "Print Window" function of OS9. How does one go about doing that these days ... other than performing a screen capture?
"Print Window" has great usefulness without having to deal with a file to delete (as screen capture does).
    Thanks in advance.

    Thanks for that.
The limitation is that the resulting PDF shows only the top folders in the hierarchy ... Even if I expand all the folders in the window, their contents don't show up in the PDF file list.
I was hoping to print a list of the files archived on an external hard drive that's being retired so that I could store the list with the physical drive.
Why did Apple take the 'print window' ability away from us? It was SO useful!!

  • Erased&Reinstalled SL. Replaced Saved Mail Folder. Asked To Setup Account?

Yesterday I completely erased my iMac and reinstalled OSX 10.6.0
I then put my old Mail Folder from Time Machine into my user Library.
I expected to open Mail and see all my accounts etc. as normal but instead I got the Welcome window asking me to create an account.
As I had been on OSX 10.6.2 and Mail 4.2 before the erase and install, and my new Mail app was only version 4.0, I thought the problem might be due to the OS and the new Mail being too early versions, so I updated to OSX 10.6.3 and up to Mail 4.2 but still can't get rid of the Welcome window.
Can I get all my old accounts and saved emails to appear or do I have to recreate my accounts . . . . . . I'm sure that's not necessary?

    Hi
Apple Mail - unlike Entourage which stores everything in one place - stores Mail in the /Users/Home/Lirary Mail Folder. Account information is stored in /Users/Home/Library/Preferences/com.apple.mail.plist. Copy this over and the Welcome Assistant should not run and you should see all your accounts. I can't remember now but I think the only think that's not retained is the password.
However if you used the Welcome Assistant to configure your account exactly as it was before the account should 'locate' the relevant Mail folders anyway. I've done this numerous times and either method should work. The important thing is to know your account details if you've somehow lost the com.apple.mail.plist. It's a good to know (or have written down) Mail Account User IDs, Passwords and incoming/outgoing mail server names just in case.

  • How do I find my history of sent e-mail photos from iPhoto?

I have been using iPhoto to send e-mails with iPhoto attachments straight fromiPhoto library using the Shar button. I can find no History fo sent e-mails.
Where would I find the list of Sent e-mails. It is not on Mail.
    Many thanks. Henry

There isn't one. iPhoto is a handy way of sending snaps to grandma it's not a fully fledged email application.
In the iPhoto preferences there's an option to always bcc yourself.
In the Info pane, Photos that have been emailed from iPhoto have a heading for that:

  • A weird question on opening a new finder window

this is not a big deal, but it really bugs me. when you have a finder window open and do apple-N to get a new one, it puts the new one right on top of the one already open. this is totally stupid. 99% of the time when i open a new window it's because i want to drag a file from one location to another, in which case i have to first move the new window. is there some way you can have it put new windows someplace else other than right on top of the current one?
and please, please, please dear apple, give us tabs in finder windows like in safari. i keep expecting it to happen in each new system upgrade, and it keeps never happening.

...when you have a finder window open and do apple-N to get a new one, it puts the new one right on top of the one already open... is there some way you can have it put new windows someplace else other than right on top of the current one?
In addition to the excellent suggestions regarding the Sidebar offered earlier, you might consider creating an AppleScript and adding it to your Finder window's toolbar. Once added to the toolbar, the script would serve as a button, which, when clicked on, would open a fully viewable new Finder window positioned above and slightly to the left of the existing Finder window. The existing Finder window would be repositioned if necessary and set to a size matching the dimensions of the new window.
The example scripts below were created with the assumption that your Home folder's Finder window opens when you press ⌘N. These scripts can be modified so that another window is opened instead by replacing the word "home" where it appears in the script with "desktop" or "documents" or "applications" etc. To open the "Computer" window use the command *make new Finder window* exclusively. Paths to non system-level folders, or user-created folders, can be specified by using an *open "Macintosh HD:path:to:folder"* command.
Copy and then paste either block of code below into your AppleScript Script Editor (Applications > AppleScript > Script Editor). From the Script Editor's File menu choose Save As > File Format: application, and leave the Options unchecked.
To add the button to your Finder window's toolbar, simply open any Finder window and drag the saved AppleScript icon to a convenient location on the toolbar. Let go of your mouse when you see the round green "+" indicator.
    +This script might work best with a monitor set to a minimum 1024 x 768 screen resolution:+
    *tell application "Finder"*
    activate
*make new Finder window to (path to home folder)*
    *set the bounds of window 1 to {70, 59, 955, 399}*
    *set the bounds of window 2 to {100, 403, 985, 743}*
    *activate window 2*
    *end tell*
+This version would be more suitable for a monitor set to 800 x 600 screen resolution:+
    *tell application "Finder"*
    activate
*make new Finder window to (path to home folder)*
    *set the bounds of window 1 to {85, 47, 715, 317}*
    *set the bounds of window 2 to {115, 320, 745, 595}*
    *activate window 2*
    *end tell*
    Good luck.

  • How to print list view of Finder window

I want to print a list of the contents of a disk or a folder, just as I see it in the Finder's list view. How is this done in Tiger? In some older versions of the OS there was a menu command for this operation, something called Print Directory, I think.

There may be more user-friendly ways of doing this, but here's one way:
Open Terminal (in the Utilities folder).
Use "cd" to change directory to the folder you want to print
    eg cd /Users/myuser/Documents
Use "ls" to list the contents to a file
    ls -al > filelist.txt
You can then open the filelist.txt file from Finder in TextEdit and print it.

  • Printing files displayed in a finder window

Wondering if its possible, I am burning allot of dvds and i wanted to print lists of what was on them for cataloging purposes. When simply in a finder window, the print function is disabled, other than taking a screen shot and printing the picture of the windows contents, is there a function to do so? thanks

Download this freeware utility, Print Window. It's not a universal binary, but it should do what you want.
Another similar utility, ScreenCaptureXis also freeware and is a universal binary.
Alternatively you can display the desired contents and use the screen capture facility of OS X - SHIFT-COMMAND-4. You can then select the area of the screen you want to capture. The image will be saved on the Desktop and can be printed from within Preview.

  • Auto-scrolling of list view in Finder windows sometimes doesn't work

I've noticed a minor bug in 10.4 that doesn't seem to show up in 10.3.9, and I thought I'd comment on it here because it's mildly annoying, and I'm not sure that anyone at Apple is aware of the issue.
My Pictures folder is pretty large -- I have over 6,000 items in it, some of which are themselves folders. I've got this folder set to list view. My typical usage pattern is to open a Finder window for my Pictures folder, start typing the first few characters of a file name, and then search from there. In 10.4.3 and later (up to and including 10.4.6 as of this writing), if the file in question is outside the viewport of the Finder window, the thumb on the scrollbar will jump to the correct location, but the actual viewport won't scroll to match; therefore, the file that gets highlighted isn't visible.
The work-around is to manually scroll the contents of the window so that I'm "closer" to the file I'm looking for; alternately, I can type characters to get the ball rolling, and then hit the up or down arrow key a couple times (once won't do the trick) which will force the viewport to jump to the correct scroll location. Using this second method, I then have to move the selection back to the file, which is annoying since it's forcing me to use extra keystrokes.
Interestingly enough, if I am careful and click on the scrollbar thumb without moving it too much (after typing the first few characters of the filename I'm looking for), the viewport will usually "snap to" the appropriate position. This suggests that the logic to auto-scroll the contents of a Finder window got subtly broken between Panther and Tiger. It just seems weird to me that the scrollbar thumb would jump without the viewport following suit automatically.
This wasn't a problem in 10.3.9. I realize that we're being encouraged to use Spotlight and other search features, but since my pictures directory is already an alphabetic list view of files, why should I be forced to do a Spotlight search when I know what it is I'm after?
    Dual 2.0 GHz G5   Mac OS X (10.4.6)

I've been having the same problem (though I haven't looked at the console yet to verify the same exact error).
There doesn't seem to be a situation that I can identify to cause the problem (i.e. waking from sleep mode), so it's difficult to reproduce consistently. The error seems to happen randomly. Last night I was getting the error every time I sent a single message. So I'd create and send a message, and then the next message I'd try to create or reply to, I couldn't. I'd have to quit Mail and start it again to gain functionality.
When I do have the problem where the compose window isn't created when replying, I also can not start a new message, note, or forward a message. Basically, no new windows can pop up besides the windows that are already there in Mail. When I quit mail, every window I tried to create by replying, making a new message, or forwarding, appears in the draft folder, just before the program closes. Then, the next time I open Mail all the windows appear that I tried to create, with no text in them. Very strange. Looks like this poster has a similar problem.

I'm curious if this is a bug, or something our machines just can't handle? I see that we all have very similarly spec'd PowerBooks.

Hi have just got a second hand Canon BJC-80 laptop printer and am trying to install on an imac running 10.5 I have been on the canon website and can only find drivers for windows based operating systems. Tried the add printer but nothing in the list. help.
