Mail Problem - New User

I am trying to set up a work email account on Mail. Sending from the new account is fine but mails addressed to the new account are returned by the mail delivery system with the explanation "user unknown" said thus:
<<< 550 "Unknown User" 550 5.1.1 <[email protected]>
[email protected] is the address the email was sent to. Where did the "Email" letters in front come from? clearly the receiving server would reject any mail which had spurious characters inserted in front of the address.

Is this from one particular sender, or everyone? It looks like the e-mail programing sending this is configured wrong, and is reading the heading as well as the address. (In other words a printed envelope would say "HomeAddress <some address>" and such.

Putting old mail in new user account.

Hello,
Sorry this may be a really simple question,
I've had mail running on the administrators account for a couple of years, I'm just creating user accounts for all the different people who use it. I want them all to be able to access the old sent messages and the entire archive of their mailbox.
How can I put this information into the new user accounts?
Is it just a case of dragging the relevant files from the Adminstrators library>mail account?

I worked with MobileMe support and found that I had to add main account to user account temporarily while I moved files, then deleted account

Data base problem-new user need help

im new user and trying to insert data base to my page using
"asp.net c",i get connetction to my data base but when i try to

Simple mail notification on new user create

Hi,
I am new to oim 11g. We are doing a small POC where we need to send mail to system admin on new user create. We just want to test notification functionality in OIM 11g.
Please let me know how to proceed, without any coding, if we want to send mail on new user creation.

New user with strange font problem

I created a user account for my girlfriend...when she brought up the safari the google homepage had a strange grafiti font for all the text. (I say strange, but it's one of my many fonts in the collection) I opened up firefox and had the same problem...this morning I realized it was doing it in mail as well. Under my account (the admin and original account) there isn't an issue, but I've looked all over and can't find a setting to fix it for her account.
It's driving me nuts. Any help would be greatly appreciated.

Since it sounds like you know the name of the font, you could try to see if anything turns up with the command below, which searches through user preferences for a given string:<pre>defaults find "font name"</pre>A partial font name should be fine. Enter the command using "/Applications" > "Utilities" > "Terminal.app".
Also, the caches (associated with a user by the 'uid') don't appear to be cleared when an account is deleted. So if a new user is created and gets assigned a previously used 'uid', they may inherit the old cache files. For starters, try clearing out any file or folder whose name contains the user's 'uid', such as the "/Library/Caches/com.apple.IntlDataCache.###" file or the "/Library/Caches/com.apple.ATS/###" folder belonging to the affected user. Then log out and back in. To determine the user's 'uid', try:<pre>id -u username</pre>

Mail thinks I am a new user

My Powerbook G4, 10.4.11 has been giving me some problems lately, I think the hard drive is about to go. I'll get the message to force restart with the power button, etc. After the last time it happened, when I then opened Mail, it asked me to register as a new user.
I have a recent full HD clone on an external firewire HD, and compared the User/Library/Mail folders for both drives, and they look to be the same, with the only difference being my backup drive shows a file called SmartMailBoxes.plist. I don't have any Smart Mailboxes set up, but that's the only additional file on the backup.
So, it looks like my main HD still has all the data in my Mail account, so is there a way to get the computer to not keep asking me to register, and to find my existing account info? I'm afraid if I register, I'll lose all my existing email from the main drive. I would have most of it on the backup, but not the most recent email, which I hope still shows up.

Also, compare the sizes on those folders with Get Info in the Finder.
The problem is likely this file...
/Users/YourUserName/Library/Preferences/com.apple.mail.plist
But for safety,
On Mail...
First Quit Mail, then I'd backup these two Mail folders, by right clicking on them in the Finder, then choose Archive/Compress.
Users/YourUserName/Library/Mail
Users/YourUserName/Library/Mail Downloads
(Could be a different folder here if you chose such in Mail Prefs)
Right click on that Mail folder, choose archive, you'll get everything in the folder, and the folder itself in a file called Mail.zip, move it to a safe place, same for the Mail Downloads folder... only the plist is separate.
/Users/YourUserName/Library/Preferences/com.apple.mail.plist
For Address Book, quit AB...
Files...
/Users/YourUserName/Library/Preferences/com.apple.AddressBook.plist
/Users/YourUserName/Library/Preferences/com.apple.AddressBook.abd.plist

Safe Boot from the HD, (holding Shift key down at bootup), it will try to repair your Disk Directory while the spinning radian is happening, so let it go, run Disk Utility in Applications>Utilities, then highlight your drive, click on Repair Permissions, then move these folder & file to the Desktop.
Move this Folder to the Desktop...
/Users/YourUserName/Library/Caches/Mail/
Move this file to the Desktop...
/Users/YourUserName/Library/Mail/Envelope Index
Replace the current /Users/YourUserName/Library/Preferences/com.apple.mail.plist with the ione from the clone.
Reboot.

Opening new user account- how can I moved mail and contacts?

I would like to open a new user account on my mac and move (or copy) a few things to the new account. I would like to move the mail including all the mails stored, the contacts, some of the folders etc. Is it possible? How can it be done?

No. Not the main Library folder. Make absolutely sure you are in the Home Library folder and not the main Library folder.
Your Home Library folder is hidden in Lion. To get to it, in the Finder menu, select GO and hold the option key down. Select Library in the submenu. The Finder window will open in your Home Library. This is where your user prefs are stored.
Once there, you will see the Preferences folder. Open it up, select all items within it and move them to the trash. You will need to restart in order for the new Finder preferences to be recreated.
Once you restart, then you will be back to the default preferences to the system and all applications. And yes, it will affect all settings including your Dock, just as logging into a new user. You will have to reset everything there also.
If you wish to do a selective method, instead of deleting all preferences, try deleting the one associated with your problem. Screen saver problems should be affected by the system preferences, so try deleting this:
com.apple.systempreferences.plist
com.apple.systempreferences.plist.lockfile
Note that when you delete system file preferences, a restart will be required. For applications, just quit the application before trashing preference files.

New User account problems

Hi,
I'm trying to set up an account for my daughter and I'm have all kinds of issues. When I enable parental controls the account will not login to a the desktop. I just get the space screen and a spinning beach ball. When I turn off parental controls and just create a new user- standard account. The desktop loads but the mail app and skype won't work. A window comes up that says check your network. I know my network is fine because the main user account works fine as well as my laptop. Does anyone know of how I can fix these problems? Any advice is much appreciated!

About ~20 hours later, this ended up solving itself. We can send email using the '.icloud' email from both the iPad and iPhone. Advise would be 'wait' before you start seeking alteranatives like yahoo, hotmail, etc. This definitely is a convenient way to keep all your 'cloud' information in a centralized place, including the common email...

It is locked to your sisters carrier.
She would have to ask her carrier if they unlock iPhones and if she qualifies for this service.

HT3309 Share mail settings with new user account on the same mac?

I have had to set-up a new user account on my mbp to use a new piece of software which refused to work on the main user account. I want to transfer the mail settings from the original one simply so that mail opens in an identical way whichever account I'm siging in with.

If you just need Mail settings, only copy
~/Library/Preferences/com.apple.mail.plist
All the messages are in
~/Library/Mail

Problem while creating a new user on solaris

I have a SUN ultra machine. Solaris 2.6 is installed on this machine.
I have successfully created a new user in this machine using "admintool"
Problem is I'm getting error messages when I'm trying to update NIS DATABASE.
I'm doing-
#cd /var/yp

and the response is----

I had the a similar problem with new users on sloaris 8.
I wasn't able to add new users and change the shell variable while using admintool.
Login back into the console would simply not happen.
All i've been able to find is that changing the users' variable - i.e. .login or .profile to match that of a working existing user (root),
would skip over the problems.
Other variables in the skeleton files were helpful. I suggest you take a look at them.

Problems creating a new user in SAP EP 6.0

We have a problem when in SAP EP 6.0 I try to create a new user.
I am connected how superuser and this one has all authorities.
When I input all fields to create a new user system response with "could not create user".
I see logs fields in support frame and not found nothing.

In case of ABAP+ Java stack; you should follow below steps:
1. Open Config tool:
C:\usr\sap\<SYSTEM ID>\JCxx\j2ee\configtool --> configtool.bat
Example: C:\usr\sap\Y76\JC03\j2ee\configtool --> configtool.bat
2. In Config tool: cluster-data>Global Server configuration>services--> com.sap.security.core.ume.service
