Mail Problem on OCS 10g

Hi,
I have got 10g installed and it all looks like it is running ok. I have process running have restarted services.. all sweet, no errors. When I attempt to connect to a port (say smtp on 25) I am unable to connect... the same goes for pop, imap etc (these are all enabled by default). I am getting a message like this in the imap log files;

Anybody know what this is ? I have done a metlink search but I am unable to find anything.
All processes appear to be running and everything looks fine, but still no connection.
Any tips would be good.
This is a fresh OCS 10g install.

I guess i have figured out the problem.
There are two way to access Email via browser, 1: Webmail Client ( similar to older version of CS) and 2: Oracle Web Access Client (new OCS Client). Now what i also realised is that i could access the new Oracle WAC, but not the original Webmail client and this was the cause for the error in the OCS Mail Portal.
When i originally did the install i configured only the Contents. Then after the installation i logged on to ias console for the apps tier and clicked on configure components and i choose to configure Email. I belive there is a bug which causes the Webmail client not to work. Also what i have noticed from the log files is that orclguest user is not provisoned by default when EMail is been configured in this way.
I belive this is the bug.

Im newer on OCS, i have alredy setup OCS 10g R2, and im exchanging mail from users having email at my domain mail.
I hope to know how to send mail to outher users from other domaines like yahoo ou homail.

I setup my oracle mail server as mail.mit.edu.mk
my smtp server is mail.mit.edu.mk.
My host is mail.mit.edu.mk and this is DNS server at the same time.
My host is behind firewall, but all necessary ports are opened.
I can send and recieve mails with all participants in my domain, but I can't send mails to recipients of outside domains. I coul'd send messages to outside recipients of outside domains, but with mail2web service.
What is the problem?

Pb for rerouting mail in a migration from Exchange 5.5 to OCS 10g R2

Hi,
I try to migrate from Exchange 5.5 to OCS 10g R2.
I meet a pb when I want to migrate an account, rerouting is active.
The routing alias is created in Exchange (user_es902migration@ocshostname) as well the delegation rule.
BUT no rewriting rule is created is the OCS server, so the mail I send to this user on Exchange are well received on Exchange but are rejected on OCS.
Any help is welcome .

Try to use the "project from WAR file" or "project from existing source" option in JDeveloper and point to either a WAR file produced from Netbeans or the actual source code.
You then might need to set up libraries and project content as well as web content under the project properties in JDeveloper.

Problem with Session with OCS 10g

Hello,
I'm trying to connect to OCS 10g via web services. At the moment i'm trying the sample provided with the content manager SDK. I can login correctly to the "remoteLoginManager" and i obtain the sessionCookie. But when i call any other webService i get a FDKException "Access Denied"
In Http Analyzer of jedev i see that the Session cookie is correctly set in any call to the web service.
I'm missing something?

what do you do to validate the session .
If you try to access the value in the session after 30 minutes with out checking if it is null , you will get a null pointer exception .
I am not sure if this can cause this error, but you can check your code to make sure you are not doing this

OCS 10g any better than 9.0.4.1 or 9.0.4.2?

Our organization had 2 very poor implementation / pilot experiences with OCS 9.0.4.x -- once each with 9.0.4.1 and 9.0.4.2 (extremely slow mail delivery to distribution lists, broken portal links with SSL app tier, etc. to the tune of 40+ other TARs). Both occasions we yanked the implementation (albeit the first time involuntarily). We are looking at OCS 10g and are wondering whether the problem with slow mail delivery is still there?
One forum thread of "New With Collaborative Suites" by jbotta goes into great detail of others experiencing slow mail delivery but the OCS version isn't given.
Also, the State of Wisconsin dropping their OCS contract article http://www.madison.com/archives/read.php?ref=wsj:2006:02:25:545530:FRONT doesn't provide the OCS version. I would like to get concrete input please on whether there truly has been drastic improvement over the 9.0.4.x product.

my problem is to setup a proper mail configuration unter Oracle 10g EM.
The testmail is working but after I have insert rules for sending it doesn't work.
E.g. to mail information when DB starts or going to shutdown...
I think I missed one step....but I don't know it:-(

I am trying to install OCS 10g infrastructure on CentOS 4.2
the linux version which the installer displays is redhat-4

I had exactly the same poblem on a red hat 64bit OS on the infrastructure install.
But while trying to start opmn manually (that is definitely not to do to solve the problem). I had the error telling me that the shared library libdb.so.2 was not accessible.
I did add the compat-db-4xxxxx.i386.rpm and then retry the check. Then all passed threw.
To note that the .log file from the install says definitely nothing about this and that just trying to start the opmn did create another .log that gave me the file problem.
Hope it can help for 64bit linux OS installation.

OCS 10g - Does it support multiple domain hosting

Hi,
We have installed OCS 10g for a domain university.edu
Now, It provides only two available domains as local domains. ie, university.edu and .edu
I would like to add some more sub domains (at least one more) such as college.university.edu to be a local domain in OCS for which it should accept emails.
It this simple feature of multiple domain hosting supported in OCS.
Kindly let us know some tips for it.

I configured the domain about 2 years ago, so I have to go and look in my archive (which is at the office, I will not be there before the end of next week).
The setup has 2 top level domains (one is .nl and one is .com). Under .nl about 4 domains are running, under .com only 1. If I remember corretly issues did raise with files. Calendar and mail are running as expected. This is on a 9.0.4 release though (not a OCS 10 R1 or R2). I did read loads of articles and had to patch even more. Luckily I printed all articles I read, so I can lookup the exect document numbers. If you can wait until next week, I can help you out.

I have recently downloaded OCS 10g and installed on RHEL 4 i386
server with 4GB RAM and 40+9+9 GB Hard disk. The installation was
smooth though very time consuming, took almost 7 hours.
After installation when I access http://servername:7778, I get the
welcome page. When I click on any link I get the following error:

Thank you for the reply. I have not replaced the text in error report. The hostname is ocsserver. I am not purposely using the fully qualified hostname as I tried installing with hostname as ocsserver.matpl (matpl is the domain name set on my local Windows NT server), I was unable to access the RTC url from a local network PC running Windows 2000/XP. To check the capability of RTC I have to run the RTC url on a Windows based system. Hence I did a reinstall of the OCS 10g without a domain name in the hostname. Though in the network setting I find mshome.net as the DNS domain search path set automatically in my Linux server. I tried removing it but it automatically sets in. Is this creating problem? But after installation I restarted the server I was able to run all the opmn services of infra. Only that I was getting a forbidden page and for that I changed the password of PORTAL and ORASSO schema. One more thing I find unsual is that whenever I start the machine I find that the schema PORTAL is LOCKED(TIMED) and I have to unlock it, but it gets locked automatically once databse is restarted. Why is it happening?
I checked the entries of processes and they are 250 as per the parameter. And 35 is the value as per the count of v$session.
Please provide your valuable ideas in resolving the issue.

Upgrade install to 10.5 Mail problems solution

Ok, I am posting this after 2 days of research why Mail behaves crazily after I installed 10.5 via update. I tried archive and install as well with same Mail problems resulting.
Now maybe this wont work for everybody, but it solved all my problems like a charm resulting in Mail working perfectly now.
After one whole annoying day behind the forums I just thought I should post it.
The basic problem was that my Mail didn't want to receive messages while the progress bars were just spinning infinite. Quitting Mail had to be done via Force Quite to stop it.
First thing i noticed was that if I open "*Previous recipients*" panel I get the everlasting spinning beach ball.
So I gathered that there must be some problem in the communication between Mail and Address Book. I backuped the Address Book database and deleted everything I could find connected with Address Book.
Next step was going to Mail folder in my User Library where I deleted all mailboxes .plists and mails because I had some messages I couldn't delete in Mail app. I also deleted other .plist files.
Then I reinstalled Address Book via additional install and rebooted the machine.
Address Book now contained no addresses. I opened Mail, and bingo everything started working, opening "previous recipients" showed 0 contacts and I starter using Mail without problems.
To finish the thing, just backup Address Book ad voila.
Now, maybe that won't sort out everybody's problem, but it sure did mine. And I had all Mail problems described on this forum while sing Mail.
Good luck fixing this highly annoying Leopard feature!

Same thing here. All printers gone. Archive & Install 10.5 on a 2.33Ghz MBP. Cannot find my network printers. Tried everything I can think of. When I boot from my external drive (10.4.9) everything works great. Leopard also ate my company VPN and won't give it back. Any help would be welcome.

Many syncing and e-mail problems.

Hi folks, lots of syncing and e-mail problems here:
Syncing: My phone won't sync iCal (it tells me my phone is disconnected), my safari bookmarks or my email accounts. I've been through the threads here, tried resetting iSync, tried deleting calendars and resetting to 10 days instead of 30 -- still no luck. For e-mail, initially iTunes saw the e-mail accounts but did not sync theml. I tried the one-time advance settings and now it's not even seeing the accounts and still not syncing them. and for Safari, no luck with the bookmarks at all even thought the check-box is checked.
Also, the iPhone won't receive e-mail from any of my POP accounts, even the one I set by hand (because none of the settings synced.) I used the same settings that I have on my desktop, but no luck. I use RoadRunner, so I know I can't send off it. But I went to the genius bar today and they told me to just leave the SMTP server field blank and I should be able to receive, but all I get on wi-fi and edge is a message that says, "Cannot Get Mail, the connection to the server "pop-xxxxxx etc" failed." even on my home netowrk, with five bars, it can't seem to connect. (btw, it does seem to be working properly on my .Mac account, but I don't use that account for most of my correspondence.)
As far as the sync problems, the genius bar told me to reinstall iTunes, which I did with the new update that just came out this evening. Still no luck.
any thoughts? bum phone? some setting I'm not catching? any help would be appreciated.

You will find the iPhone will freak out over any kind of perceived data corruption. Calendars seem to the worst for this (windows or mac)
Test in a new user and try sending info in each direction. If it works - then your phone works fine.
Other users have reported having to basically copy the contents of their calendars into a sticky or text edit window. delete the calendars and create brand new ones. they then just transfer the data back.

E71 E-Mail Key and Related Mail Problems

Since my E71 was updated to the latest firmware (at a Nokia Service Center) around 6 months ago I have had a number of odd mail problems, which manifest themselves as follows:
After an initial boot everything with mail and messaging works fine as expected. However at least once or twice a day the phone switches unpredictably into an odd mode with the following symptoms:
1) E-Mail key stops responding to short or long presses.
2) New e-mails and sms messages which arrive do not appear on the home screen as usual, though they may (or may not) appear as small icons in the top right corner of the screen.
3) For new e-mails only the title/header is downloaded, whereas usually I have it set to automatically download the first 2 K of each message.
4) New messages still appear as 'unread' even after reading them. Manually setting them to 'read' works, but only after a long delay.
5) The flashing navigation key light which warns of new messages/mails gets stuck in flashing mode and will not stop until the phone is rebooted.
Problems 1-3 occur every time, and 4&5 occasionally, but all can only be cured by rebooting the phone, after which it works fine again - for a while.
Since I first saw this problem I have updated the firmware twice (it is currently on the latest version), but the problem persists. I wonder if anyone has seen this problem or has any idea how to fix it? It's a great irritation with an otherwise excellent phone, especially since it was all working fine when I first purchased it. For anyone who is interested, I've found the answer to my own question, though not the solution to my problem. After several days playing with mail settings I noticed that when Retrieval settings > E-mail to retrieve is set to 'Headers only' or ' Msgs & attachs', there is no problem. However, if it is set to 'Size limit' with a setting of say 2K or 5K (i.e. just enough to capture the first few important paragraphs of any message) then receipt of many types of formatted mails larger than the specified size causes the mail program to crash, and the OS to switch into the odd mode described in my earlier post.
This is particularly irritating since I travel frequently overseas in Asia where roaming GSM data use is expensive (and there are no caps or limits on roaming fees), and due to the nature of my work my e-mails typically come with long threads and large attachments. Therefore I am left with the choice between:
     A) Downloading mail headers only and waiting till I can find a WiFi connection to find out what the message actually says
     B) Downloading the whole message and paying many hundreds of dollars a month in data roaming fees
     C) Using the fixed mail size limit setting and accept that my mail program will crash several times a day and
          require the phone to be rebooted each time to restore normal functionality
Anyway, it seem this problem is clearly due a bug with the Nokia mail software in recent builds, since it worked fine with these exact same settings for the first year I had the phone, and repeated clean re-installs of the latest firmware do not fix the problem. Therefore, if any Nokia developers are monitoring this board you can add this to your bug list, and you know where to start looking for the bad bit of code.

Installing 10g software on AIX Box in /oracle/oraHome2,where oracle9i is already installed in /oracle/oraHome1 and oracle inventory is in /oracle/inventory
In product specific prerequisite screen I am getting the
check:Oracle Home incompatibilties is failed I am getting the error

Recommendation: Choose a new Oracle Home for installing this product
though I am installing it in different oracle homes why i am getting this error?
Is it because 10g installation is picking the same oracle inventory /oracle/inventory
do i need to make different oracle inventory for different oracle homes???????plz confirm..is thats the reason i am getting this error??????

I figure out you are trying to install 10gR2 on top of an existing 9iR2 Oracle Home. This is corrected at the Path definition window. Most probably you just click on the <Next> and by default the 9iR2 Oracle Home was selected. You must define a new oracle home for the 10gR2 install.
