Mail problems on desktop, mobileme account is fine?

Hi my mail on my desktop is not receiving mail and not sending, the outbox symbol appears but is taking forever to send and then will fail. I know my account is OK as I can receive and send as normal using my iphone and when going onto mobileme online. My software is up to date, I recently done this, it might the cause of the trouble, Im running 10.6.7. Is anyone else having trouble or have my setting gone crazy?
Thanks

  • Syncing read/unread e-mail for a non-mobileme account

    Hi
While mobileme accounts sync fine. My work account doesn't. So if I use Mail on my iPhone, I have to go through my e-mail twice. Every e-mail on the server is marked as unread so I have hundreds of e-mail waiting to be downloaded to my iPhone.
    Is there a way to sync read/unread e-mail for a non-mobileme account?

The reason this is available with your MobileMe account is because your MM account is an IMAP account. An IMAP account is designed for this very thing - accessing an email account with more than one email client on different computers and/or devices keeping all server stored mailboxes for the account synchronized with the server automatically with each email client used to access the account.
The same is available with any IMAP account, and this is supported with an Exchange account accessed via ActiveSync with the iPhone's mail client.
Your work account must be a POP account, which isn't supported with a POP account. Although it is possible to access a POP account with more than one email client, a POP
account is designed to be accessed with a single email client only.

  • E-mail address on closed MobileMe account on new iCloud account.

So I had tried MobileMe a few years ago and created an e-mail address. I never kept the account and now want to use that same e-mail address on iCloud. It tells me that its in use and when I go to me.com and try to sign in it says I can't renew.
Is is possible to cancel all that out and use that e-mail address on my current iCloud account?

I had a problem like that. After a system upgrade, I started over with an icloud account. Then yesterday I was asked to manually enter my appleid. Because I was new to  icloud, I was able to talk to a tech at Apple. After the call was over, I realized that my old MobileMe account had resurfaced and my new icloud account was lost.
Sorry that my reply is not a solution

Since I have installed OSX 10.9.2 the Mail app needs 99.9% cpu resources and I can't work with it anymore.
When I'm using Mail without my googlemail acocunt it works fine. After I activate my googlemail account again, Mail need all resources and I can't use it.
How can I fix the problem?

Also - the update to 10.9.3 does not solve this problem.

  • Mail problem with some IMAP accounts - login fails, Thunderbird OK

After upgrading to Mountain Lion Mac Mail fails to connect to some of my IMAP accounts. I tried everything I can think of. The problem is, the accounts work fine with Thunderbird. However, one of my IMAP accounts works with my main user account's settings (it was imported from my Lion set up), but it fails to set up with a second user. It seems to me that using IMAP with my provider and the Mountain Lion Mail is not working.
Rebooting my saved Lion installation confirmed that it still works...
Installing said accounts with Thunderbird and IMAP also works.
Login with Mac Mail and POP using the accounts also works, webmail works, iOS works, a freshly set up Gmail account with IMAP works ....
ONLY the damned Mountain Lion Mail program doesn't work with my mail provider's IMAP.  WHY? WHAT CAN I DO?
    Any insights or ideas?

In the server I did a telnet to port 25, and I can send a message to the "problem account". => What is different about the users that 'work' vs the users that don't work? Are they in different domains, do they have forwarding enabled, vacation message... so on?
I tested in another machines with POP clients and the situation is the same.
I stopped the server, delete the /store/mboxlist/*.log, started again, reconstruct the account with the problem, reconstruct -r for all, and nothing. If you are having problems sending email, then the problem is unlikely to have anything to do with store database. This will be MTA related.
We have a firewall in the middle, but I can send to some boxes normally, I dont believe this is the problem. => I have an innate distrust of firewalls as they have caused so many problems in the past for other customers. Are you able to configure an email client to send directly to messaging server and bypass the firewall -- just to remove this as a potential cause?

  • Mail problem on desktop

Very wierd, I noticed this morning when I select get mail on my desktop the pop up tells me to re enter my password for my main pop account.
so I did  many times and the msg still pops up.
I tried this on my Iphone and IPad and got the same msg
But from the desktop I'm able to send mail from that account and recieve it on other email accounts I have as well so the outgoing is working.
So I went to the isp Verizon ( in this case ) and changed my password
I waited about a half hour and hit get mail from the mail program, same thing.
Re entered the new password same thing
entered the new password in the mail prefs same thing
then I tried this on my Iphone and IPad and I do not get the password reject msg and I'm able to get mail from the account in question.
But this is still NOT WORKING on my desktop.
    Rebooted, same thing.
    I'm on a Mac Pro

It's possible that you are having a problem with some Firefox add-on that is hindering your Firefox's normal behavior. Have you tried disabling all add-ons (just to check), to see if Firefox goes back to normal?
Whenever you have a problem with Firefox, whatever it is, you should make sure it's not caused by one (or more than one) of your installed add-ons, be it an extension, a theme or a plugin. To do that easily and cleanly, run Firefox in [http://support.mozilla.com/en-US/kb/Safe+Mode safe mode] (don't forget to select ''Disable all add-ons'' when you start safe mode). If the problem disappears, you know it's from an add-on. Disable them all in normal mode, and enable them one at a time until you find the source of the problem. See [http://support.mozilla.com/en-US/kb/Troubleshooting+extensions+and+themes this article] for information about troubleshooting extensions and themes and [https://support.mozilla.com/en-US/kb/Troubleshooting+plugins this one] for plugins.
If you need support for one of your add-ons, you'll have to contact its author.
If the problem does not disappear when all add-ons are disabled, please tell me, so we can work from there. Please have no fear of following my instructions to the line, as all can be easily undone.

  • Mail problem using 2 hotmail accounts

I use the standard Mac mail system v6.2 where I have 2 hotmail accounts, one for job and one for private mails.
When sending mail from the private mail address i specify that it should be from privat mail, however as it reaches its receipients it is actually sent by my job mail adress. This has not always been like this, but somhow changed 1-2 months ago and I dont know why.
In settings I have specified that it should use the account specified
Anyone know how to fix this??
    Tx
    Filip

In Mail Preferences, go to Accounts. In each of your accounts, check in the Account Information tab if...
    - ...the Outgoing Mail Server (SMTP) is different = the correct one for the account. Even though both accounts are Hotmail, there should be two servers. Even if named the same, they should use different settings.
    - ..."Use only this server" is checked.
(Whatever the fields are in your language... )

  • In the Mail App how do I delete the MobileMe account after I've moved my second email account to iCloud?

I have moved two accounts to iCloud. Both iCloud accounts appear on my iPad's Mail App. The MobileMe account is still there, however. In Settings only the iCloud account appears. How do I get rid of the now redundant MobileMe account?

This works for me: In the iPod's Settings select 'Mail, Contacts, Calendars' and delete the account that appears twice in the Mail App. The add same account. Go to Mail to affirm that the second account appears only once. Bingo!
Once the second account is in iCloud it can be deleted and added to iOS devices without worries.

  • Failure sending email from MobileMe account on iPhone

I cannot send emails from my mobileme account on my iPhone, the following error appears: connection to the outgoing mail server 'smtp.me.com' failed.
I have my gmail account set up and this works fine, any ideas?
    Thanks

One thing that might help out.
Try a reset by holding down the home button and power button at the same time until you see an apple logo.
If the reset does not work, one more thing to try.
Remove the account from the iphone by going to settings > mail, contacts calendars > your MobileMe account.
Scroll to the bottom and tap the delete account button.
Reset the iphone by using the 2 buttons again.
Now set the MobileMe account back up on the iphone.
    Hope this helps.

  • So now I have iCloud and MobileMe accounts?

I only recently converted my MobileMe account to an iCloud account when I picked up an iPad running iOS 5.  After following the instructions to complete the process I find I have an iClound email account as: [email protected], I expected to keep my original [email protected] MobileMe email address.  I recently discovered that my old [email protected] email account is still active but must be set up on my iMac and iPad using Mail as a seperate MobileMe account.
I guess I wondering if I missed something during the conversion, specifically a prompt to keep my original email address.  Is anyone aware of a way to consolidate these addresses or to cancel one of them?
    Thnk you,
    Bob

You didn't convert it properly. The process is to go to http://me.com/move and follow the instructions, logging in with your MobileMe email address. Your email, calendars, contacts and bookmarks will be moved to iCloud; your iDisk will remain on MobileMe.
Your signature says you have 10.5.1; this is not compatible with iCloud - Lion 10.7.2 is required. It's possible to set Mail up manually to access iCloud email but no other iCloud facilities will work. If in fact you have Lion please amend you signature to prevent confusion when you ask a question.

  • How can I disable my MobileMe account as sender in the iOS Mail app?

Ever since I logged on to iCloud in OS X Mountain Lion (10.8.0, 10.8.1), I've noticed that in Gmail (using the Mail app for iOS), on my iPhone running iOS 5.1.1, the sender appears to be my MobileMe account (an account I had to use a while back when I first got started using iCloud, but haven't actually used).
Besides flooding my iCloud account mail information with sent mail and the fact that I don't want people associating my email address with the wrong address, it's very annoying that when I choose my regular Gmail address as the sender mail, the next time I send an email, the MobileMe address is the default address yet again.
The problem persists even though I have:
Disabled the iCloud email account (@me.com) in the Mail app in OS X Mountain Lion (the OS in which, by all accounts—no pun intended—it all started).
Disabled iCloud to use and sync Mail.
This is the settings for Gmail in Mountain Lion, in which disabling Mail and the MobileMe account for use, should be the only email address associated with my iCloud account (excepts it obviously isn't as MobileMe is tied to my AppleID for whatever purpose Apple saw fit back in the day):
I saw a thread here discussing the posibility of deleting the iCloud account on the iPhone, powering it off and then, when powered back on, simply signing in again with iCloud. I'm nor sure this is a "solution" as much as a way around something I cannot understand is happening in spite of the changed I have made already.
Surely, someone must be able to tell me what I can do to simply not have my @me.com email address set to the default From address in Mail in iOS. Other than that, I have no real problem with the @me email address being used, at all.
It's just so annyoing when trying to send a quick reply to a colleague or something.
    Please discuss below.

I feel funny replying to myself; I cannot remove this discussion and at any rate, I guess if someone else has this problem, they'll be pleased it has not been deleted.
So, I managed to fix this all on my own. Obviously the difficulty-level is about as low as it gets:
After updating to iOS 6 last night, I was playing around in the settings of my phone, when I came across this, the iCloud for Settings > Mail, Contacts, Calandars > Accounts > iCloud:
All I had to do was to turn Mail off. This leaves the Cc/Bcc, From field empty in my phone's Mail app--just the way I wanted it!

  • We bought 2 iPhone.  4s cant get mail on my husbands phone it says not a MobileMe account  this account already been migrated to iCloud  we have desk top and can't get mail also we have all the apple  products

Can't get the email on my husbands iPhone we bought 2 phones I am able to get mail on my I phone and IPad can't get it on it ouch desk top and husbands iPhone

If you migrated your MobileMe account to iCloud, on your phone you should be able go to Settings>Mail,Contacts,Calendars>Add Account>iCloud and enter the Apple ID associated with your iCloud account.  On your desktop computer, you can configure your email client to get your @me.com email by following this guide: http://support.apple.com/kb/HT4864.

  • I have an email account causes the machine to hang up after being in use for a day.  It only occurs on my Macbook Pro and only one particular account.  The problem account works fine on my iMac and Windows Machines.  Any ideas what is causing this?

I have an email account causes the machine to hang up after being in use for a day.  It only occurs on my Macbook Pro and only one particular account.  The problem account works fine on my iMac and Windows Machines.  I have been to the local Genius bar and through trial and error we have determined that Mail is working ok but somehow the account is causing the problem.  I have used this account for years.  Any ideas what is causing this?

No idea why, but one thing you may try if you have the time, is create a new user, and set up the problem mail account in the new user space. See if it causes your MBP to hang as well.  That will tell you if it is something wrong with your main User, or something wrong with MBP.
Assuming this works, I'd nuke the problem account in your main user space, re-start, and reinititate the account and see if that helps.
Depening on how many email accounts you have setup, it may be necessary to nuke the whole Mail folder in your User/Library....   Hard way to get it to work, but just my idea.

  • Mail Problem - accounts still being deleted

Since "upgrading" to OSX Snow Leopard, my mail and iTunes applications are wiped clean! It has happened countless times now and it's becoming a big big problem. My iTunes seems to be working normally, however, my mail accounts are still being deleted and results in having to recover the MobileMe account. My third-party IMAPP account has to be set-up manually.
Whenever I boot up my mac book and start-up mail, I am greeted with a message telling me that sent items is being renamed (I think) and all of my email accounts are wiped clean. I have lost so many important emails from my POP3 account. There is nothing from a user perspective that is causing this issue.
PLEASE HELP! What is causing mail to act so stupidly and wipe my email accounts? How can I fix this once and for all. I have already ran the repair utility and also reinstalled OSX SL again. The latest update 10.6.1 has not resolved the problem.

    Do this for BOTH devices:
Go to settings, internet accounts, and then log out of mail. Then log back in.
Maybe your email will sync with your devices.

    Hi antonyroberts-
    I would recommend trying this:
    -> Clear Cookies & Cache
    -> Clear the Network Cache
-> Reload web page(s) and bypass the cache.
    • Press and hold Shift and left-click the Reload button.
    • Press "Ctrl + F5" or press "Ctrl + Shift + R" (Windows,Linux)
    • Press "Cmd + Shift + R" (MAC)
Check and tell if its working. Hope that helps.
