Mail problems since latest OSX mountain lion update

Since I updated to the latest version of OSX Mountain Lion my Macbook Pro is very slow starting (up to 2 minutes) and my mail program is always stucking (colour-ball turning) so that I have to shut down and restart.
Does anybody have a solution for these problems?

So it's a new 2012 non-Retina model... there are a couple of things that you might want to try - even with only 4GB of RAM (and I truly feel that 8GB is the 'sweet spot' for any modern MBP) you should be having slow startup or Mail beachballs.
First, let's boot into Recovery mode by holding down the Command and R keys during startup. At the bottom of the window, you'll want to open Disk Utility. Select your hard drive from the left pane and verify and then repair permissions. Some won't be 'fixed' but that's OK. Then with the hard drive still selected, verify your hard drive. If any errors pop up, go ahead and repair the hard drive.
If neither of these things fix the problem, you might want to redownload and reinstall 10.8.2, using the 'combo' updater found here. Also make certain that you install (or reinstall) the 10.8.2 supplemental update - here.
And if that doesn't work, we'll just have to dig a little deeper.

OSX Mountain lion update

I am trying to download OSX mountain lion. I currently have Snow leopard 10.6.8. It is asking to choose an app. What do I choose?

Open App Store and sign in with your Apple ID and password. Search for "mountain lion." Click on the Mountain Lion option then click on the purchase amount button to start the process.

HT1338 I went to the Apple Store and bought the OSX Mountain Lion update and it is still downloading. The download began at around 7:00 PM last night. It is now 7:03AM. What's wrong. The icon on my computer says it is downloading still.

My OSX Mountain LIon is still downloading after the download was initiated 12 hours ago. What's wrong?

Possibly nothing. The whole thing relies on the amount of people currently doing the same thing as you and also your internet connection, remembering that WiFi is extremely slow.
How far through the download is it? If it's nearly done and at least still moving along I would be inclined to leave it. If not then you can stop it and start it all over again. Just be warned that if it is simply a connection issue then you might just be re-starting your clock
PS - I've seen the download take over 60hrs before.

Mt Lion will not install on all Mac's. There are some that can run Lion but can not run Mt Lion. You may have one of those.
How are trying to do the install. Need more info on the Mac you have and how and where you got Mt Lion.

I have OSX 10.8.2 on my current MacBook Pro 13 inch. The problem I am having is I cannot update it because in the appstore Mountain Lion was purchased through a different account. I would like to purchase it from my account but it won't let me, it just says "you must sign into xxxxxx account to update". How can I purchase Mountain Lion on my current account?

You may want to use the support link in the App Store: Support
They may be able to help.
The only way I can think of woiuld be to revert to the previous OS and then purchase Mountain Lion.
If you updated from Lion, you can revert by booting into Internet Recovery and choosing reinstall option. That will install the OS that the Mac shipped with.

Problem since upgrade to Mountain Lion

I have a 2.4ghz Intel Core 2 Duo iMac with 4GB of RAM. Ever since I upgraded to 10.8.2 (well Mountain Lion in general) I have been having issues. I cannot connect to my work e-mail through mail any more and if I try to fix it, it freezes the computer. Also the computer will freeze up when playing videos through quicktime and through iTunes. In general it seems to freeze up with just about any program I use at all, unless I'm only using Messenger (even the Twitter app will freeze up). Every so often these freezes force me to force reboot the computer. Usually after doing this I will run fsck, and it usually does fix something, but even after that it takes a long time to load the computer up again and log into my account. I am planning on getting a new iMac within a year, but want this one running as good as it used to, but don't want to have to downgrade. Any advice?

Mine has been doing that as well, ever since the ML upgrade. I have to restart after I open the MBP. This morning, I took the closed MPB from my case where it had sat all night and it was very hot. Of course, on opening it, it had to be rebooted. Not cool.

"On My Mac" saved mail gone since upgrading to Mountain Lion

I upgraded my iMac from Snow Leopard to Mountain Lion this past week. Mail worked fine for a few days and then my Mail Rules and my "On My Mac" saved mail (DECADES worth of mail!!!) disappeared.
I have both a Time Machine backup of my Snow Leopard from right before the upgrade, as well as a SuperDuper clone.
I have already tried the following:
Rebuilding the mailbox (it rebuilt my Inbox, but nothing showed up "On My Mac" and no, nothing is hidden.
Copying the Mail folder from my Snow Leopard backup to my Mountain Lion desktop and copying the .mbox files and associated .plist files for the "On My Mac" saved mail into the "Mailbox" folder in V2 on Mountain Lion. When I then launched Mail it showed "On My Mac" and the names of all of my saved mail folder, but those folders were empty. I attempted to rebuild those folders, but nothing showed up.
Importing the .mbox files from the "On My Mac" saved mail, but it only showed two Sent Items folders as being able to be imported. None of my actual "On My Mac" many saved mail folders.
I could really use some help here. I have already posted on Macintouch and nothing suggested has helped thus far.
I really cannot lose my saved mail. The contents of each of those .mbox saved mail folders absolutely contains my saved email. There are tons of "emlx" files.

I just got off the phone with Apple support and still have no resolution. I got kicked up one level and now that person has to kick it up again because they don't know how to fix my problem. I have been told it could be up to 48 hours until I hear from someone again. Ugh
Your mention of the "archive" folder sent me to look at my mailbox structure.
For some reason, I appear to have 2 mailboxes for my .Mac email (sorry - I still call it .Mac!). I don't know why, and each has 1GB of stuff in it. The first one has an archive.mbox with only a .plist in it. No folders. The other one has neither a .plist nor a folder. The other .mbox stuff has both a .plist and a folder with individual files (emails).
I really shouldn't have to revert to Snow Leopard to get my stuff back. There has got to be a way to have Mountain Lion Mail read my Saved Mail (On My Mac) folder. It's got 3GB of stuff in there.

Today I've upgraded to Mountain Lion. When I opened mail my (serveral) hotmail accounts didn't work (kept 'offline').
Got this message: "Mail can't connect to the account ***@live.nl"

I already tried to check the settings, (yes, I also used google) but they seem to be correct:

Now I've deleted all the accounts to completely reconfigure them, but this didn't work either.
I didn't have this issue in Snow Leopard, and 'cause I use my email accounts a lot it would be nice if it could be fixed asap..
Also, only the icloud email seems to work properly, gmail, exchange (Microsoft) and hotmail (live.nl as well as hotmail.com) don't work.
Please help me..

Jeez.. It's annoying. I've tried reinstalling it, yesterday, but I also restored all the backup from TimeMachine, I just didn't want to go through all the setting up of preferences and applications again just because of this single problem. But it was all to no avail.
I guess after all I'll have to start from scratch. =(

What does this mean?

The only thing that worked for me was to boot in safe mode.
Power down. Then press power button and hold 'shift' key until grey screen with progress bar appears... Once booted and logged in just open safari and browse to applestore.
No trouble at all once I did this.
Reminder: create full backup before you upgrade OS

HTML Mail Signatures changed in OSX Mountain Lion

Hi,
The way i usually set up a HTML email signature is by creating a new signature in mail, finding that .webarchive file in Library > Mail > Signatures and replacing it with the newly made .webarchive file of the HTML signature. This has worked fine up until I needed to do the same for a MacBook Pro running on Mountain Lion.
It seems the file type Mail creates for new signatures is now called .mailsignature. I tried using the same method as above but changing the extension to the new format but its not working.
Does anyone know how i can get my html sig into Mail for Mountain Lion?

Audio Problem since upgrading to Mountain Lion

Has anyone encountered audio problems with their iMac? I just upgraded to Mountain Lion on my i7 27" with 16GB of Ram and found that the Audio starts to get distorted and eventually cuts out after about an hour! It starts cutting in and out when I move the mouse and eventually there will be no sound at all!
Sometimes it can take over an hour of steady use, my last time was watching a movie on Netflix. I initially noticed this using a USB DAC Headphone Amp.
I never had any Audio problems before, my machine is over 1 year old.
I enjoy watching movies in iTunes and DVDs, but this is making it difficult! A full restart usually fixes the problem for a time but it will eventually come back
I'm seriously thinking of going back to Lion for the time being and seeing if it is a Hardware problem.

i don't know if mine is the same issue, but i had no sound through any of my applications after upgrading to mountain lion. here is what i had to do to fix it:
-- applications > utilities > audio midi setup > UNmute all options under "built-in output" (they were mysteriously muted)
Also, I noticed that the options for "use this device for sound output" and "play alerts & sound effects through this device" were no longer assigned to my Built-in Output device. They were assigned to some other random sound driver. To fix, i right-clicked on Built-in Output and reassigned those items to my built in speakers. All fixed now!

Having problems since latest 10.5.7 update: com.apple.doc "Bus error"

Since this morning, after installing the latest Mac OS updates, my Mac has been really slow, and the dock never appears. My console messages keep printing the following message:

and the system log keeps printing the following related massages:

Since the problem is with the OS and not just the user account -
I'd download the Apple Combo Update from here:
http://support.apple.com/downloads/MacOS_X_10_5_7_ComboUpdate and after run it again. No change?
Then
Reinstall Mac OS using "Archive and Install" method which doesn't affect your user account: http://support.apple.com/kb/HT1545 - Preserve User and Network Settings
Then, after repairing permissions
Run the combo update again.
Repair Permissions 1 last time.
