Mail program keeps re-asking for password for my Yahoo Mail

So I use the mail program on my macmini (running 10.7.5). After I've setup my yahoo mail (and it has initially accepted the password) it keeps wanting to have me re-enter the password: Message says:
"The Yahoo! IMAP server “imap.mail.yahoo.com” rejected the password for user “[email protected]” Enter your password again or cancel. "
Then I re-enter the password each time (which is accepted) and then 5 minutes later it prompts me to re-enter all over again!
Help! -- And keep it simple, cause I'm a computer neophyte. Thanks

Could you have more than one entry for imap.mail.yahoo.com in Keychain Access?
Open Keychain Access in Utilities, use Keychain First Aid under the Window Menu item, then either check the Password under that item, change it, or delete it and start over.

These are user-to-user forums, you are not talking to Apple here - I've asked the hosts to remove your phone number from your post.
If you can't remember the answers then go to Express Lane and select 'iTunes' from the list of 'products' in the middle of the screen.

About ~20 hours later, this ended up solving itself. We can send email using the '.icloud' email from both the iPad and iPhone. Advise would be 'wait' before you start seeking alteranatives like yahoo, hotmail, etc. This definitely is a convenient way to keep all your 'cloud' information in a centralized place, including the common email...

I had the same problem today and was able to resolve it without having to do a restore or reset. The problem had something to do with my mail accounts. The upgrade reset my mail settings, switching both my gmail and my .mac mail to "archive all mail". I went into the General Settings, disabled that setting, and resynced the phone. The "other" storage allottment dropped back down to less than a gig.
Before you restore or reset, I would try that first.

A "hard reset" will do the same thing.
Make sure that the AirPort Extreme is powered on
Hold in the reset button for a few seconds and the amber light will begin to blink more quickly. Keep holding the reset button when you see this for another 4-5 seconds and release
Allow 25-30 seconds for the AirPort Extreme to restart to a slow, blinking amber light
Open Macintosh HD > Applications > Utilities > AirPort Utility and click Continue to follow the guided setup

The solution surprised even me, and we've been using Macs since 1984 (still have an original 128K).
I contacted Apple support, and because we had just upgraded yesterday, clicked on the "exception" button as opposed to paying the $19.99 one-time support fee. An Apple tech called and the problem was solved in two minutes.
Somehow during the installation of OS 10.8.2 (over 10.6.x) the key chain data for my email ISP login password got corrupted. The solution was to delete both the POP mail and SMTP entries in my keychain.
Back to Mail, it asked for the POP password, I entered it and bingo, mail got busy downloading. Interestingly, the password was also entered into the SMTP panel.
So, that's it. Thanks for you response, Mr. Hoffman, and regards.

Thank you for the details of the issue you are experiencing with Keychain Access on your Mac. I found a couple of articles I suggest for the issue you described.
Your keychain uses your the same password as your login password. If it is not accepting that password, I recommend running the Keychain First Aid using the steps in this article:

If you are still repeatedly seeing a prompt to enter your Keychain Access password, you may need to reset your keychain. This will create a new keychain so any saved passwords on the old keychain will not be available, and you will need to enter them when accessing sites for the first time again. First, try tapping on the network in the Wi-Fi settings and then tap "forget this network". Then reselect the network in the main Wi-Fi settings screen and see if will then ask for a password. If not, try resetting the Network Settings in the General -> Reset section and then reconnecting to your W-iFi.

Are you saying you don't know the password for your old Apple ID?
To update any apps, on your phone, obtained with your old ID, you will have to: Settings>Store...tap the ID shown...sign out...then sign back in with your old ID...update the apps, then sign out again & sign back in with your new ID. Is this what you're doing?
There are only two ways to fix this: 1. Delete any content obtained with your old ID, then re-purchase with your new ID, or 2:

If you're trying to back up your device to iCloud, that doesn't have anything to do with your computer. You back up to iCloud over wifi. my problem is not related with using main password or not...
in former versions of firefox i was automatically signed in to websites without any click... it wasnt asking me to sign-in (because my usernames and passwords were remembered-and saved in password manager)
in this version they are remembered again but i have to write first 2-3 letters of my username and it remembers my username then it remembers password...
for example when i clicked twitter.com my account and my homepage as automatically opened, but in this version when i click twitter.com it opens the sign-in page and i write first 2 letters of my user name it remembers name and password and then i signin
(difference i was at where i want to sign in with one click--- but in new version 1click for webpage-1 click for clicking to username are-1-2 letter writing to find my user name-1 click to remember password-1 click to sign in) an addition: also if i am using main password i am entering main password and click to sign-in
This can be little problem to u, but it is really annoying problem, 9-10 clicks more for each webpage which i wanted mozilla to remember my usernames and passwords... it also asks main password if i am using...
if i want to visit 5-6 different websites it means 70-80 clicks more and 50-60 letters typing according to your main password .. (in opera and mozillas former versions it is just 5-6 clicks)
so main problem is the cookies were remembered in all the sessions but after it updated to v.10.0.1 expiry date of cookies of same websites that i visit are just for one session... it is not related with the websites and their servers that i visit because if so how can Opera remembers all the time...
