Mail.que file size is rapidly increasing

Hi Friends,
I am experiencing an issue with Exchange 2013 mail.que file, it consumes available free disk space in 2-3 days, like grows up 30-40Gb in 2-3 days, any way we can manage it? How can I check why it is growing so fast?
Thanks in Advance...
Best Regards, Ranjit Singh

Hi Ranjit,
Thank you for your question.
Based on my research, the causes can be:
1.Pipeline tracking log is enabled and it takes some space;
2.Large MaxDumpsterSizePerStorageGroup limitation.
To troubleshoot the issue, we can take the following steps.
1. Disable the Pipeline tracking log if you do not need it
    a. Check if Pipeline Tracing enabled by command:
     Get-TransportServer | FL name,*pipeline*
    b. If enabled, please use the following command to disable it
    Set-TransportServer “Server Name” -PipelineTracingEnabled $False
2. Reset the MaxDumpsterSizePerStorageGroup limitation
    a. Run “Get-TransportConfig” and ensure the following
MaxDumpsterSizePerStorageGroup is in MB’s and not GB’s
    MaxDumpsterTime : 7.00:00:00
    b. If not, we run the following command to modify:
    Set-TransportConfig -MaxDumpsterSizePerStorageGroup <size> -MaxDumpsterTime    <timespan>
3. If it still does not work, we can manually reset the Mail.que and then monitor if it is still increasing:
    a. Stop Transport service on the server.
    b. Move the folder C:\Program Files\Microsoft\Exchange Server\V15\TransportRoles\data\Queue to other place.
    c. Start the Transport service on the server.
    d. If there is no related issue, just delete the previous Queue folder.
    e. Monitor the new Queue folder size.
If there are any questions regarding this issue, please be free to let me know.
Best Regard,
Jim

  • Why have file sizes in Pages increased since upgrading to latest version?

Hi, I use Pages to compose a monthly newsletter for my yacht club. For that purpose I preferred it to Word because it was so easy to add, resize and position photographs. Before circulating the newsletter to club members, I convert the file to PDF format using the print as PDF option. Last year I was able to put 25 or so photos along with text over 5 pages and finish with a file size of less than 5 MB, which is about as big as I can send without dozens being bounced by members' email filters. Since upgrading my Mac to "Mountain Lion" (and then to "Mavericks") and upgrading Pages, I can't include more than 7 or 8 photos on 2 pages without going over my 5 MB limit. The finished file size seems to be two or three times the combined file sizes of the photos that I include.
Any suggestions for reducing file size? I already use as low a photo resolution as I can.

Peter - thank you so much for this very helpful reply. I had assumed that having "upgraded" I would be condemned to putting up with the Pages 5. I would never have thought of looking in the iWork folder for an older version. Needless to say I can't use Pages 09 to open documents written in pages 5 - but that's no loss. I note that January's newsletter was a hefty 15.5 MB in size, whereas December's, which contains more pages and many more photos was only 2.5 MB.
    Thanks again.
Fruhulda - I look forward to reading more of the discussion of the last few months. Being new to the forum it may take me some time to find it.

  • Batch file size reduction is increasing file size

CS3 on G5 dual. I am prepping images from my clients catalog for the web. Large image and thumbs. I batch converted the large images for web and have a bunch of images at roughly 24k-56K. I duped the folder, renamed to add a T to end of file name to signify thumbnails. I have an action to reduce file size 50% which is about what I want. I ran a few test files and all 6 of them blew up to 96K-124K even though the file is half the size (5x8 to 2.5x4) while remaining 72 dpi.
Client *thinks* the hosting software will generate thumbs for images from the larger images but isn't sure and is requesting I supply thumbs just in case.

The client has a shopping cart and I would have assumed giving her one size (5x8) which strikes me as overly large but she specified that size (or the nearest proportional equivalent) would be sufficient and the database for the web store would generate thumbs on the fly but the support at the hosting company is abysmal and she doesn't want to pay me to spend a few hours figuring this out.
I don't know what SFW is. Here's a screen shot of my settings for 50%:

I posted this over in the Lounge as I didn't get a reply here. Here's a link that shows my action in a QT movie. Weirdly enough, I accidentally deleted my save for web action and can no longer batch export a folder to web jpegs:

  • TUXLOG file size is strangely increasing.

    Hello,
I'm new in peoplesoft technology, Here is something that i'm not understanding.
In my peoplesoft demo environment at following path "....../appserv/prcs/HCM85DMO/LOGS/" a file called TUXLOG.051713 size is strangely 38G.
Please suggest me solution or please give your view/correct me if i'm wrong.
    Thank You
    Neeraj

Could you tail that file to get the last 10 lines?
    tail -10 TUXLOG.051713
It is good to know what is getting logged and then it would be easier to suggest what could be done.

I am trying to clean up some previously scanned images containing mainly text. The original file sizes are 80K. I use the optimise pdf tool to 'despeckle' with all the other option set to off. When I save and then check the new file size it has increased threefold. Any ideas as to what I am doing wrong?

That being said, have you done a "save as" on the files?

  • Large Mail.que database in Exchange 2013

    [Background]
Since Exchange 2013 is released, some user may come across the following situations:
The space of disk C is used up.
The transport service stops processing messages.
    The Mailbox server is crash.
In this case, the issue can be resolved with checking with the mail.que file which is in the following path on the Mailbox server:
    C:\Program Files\Microsoft\Exchange Server\V15\TransportRoles\data\Queue
    [Symptom]
The Mail.que file on all Exchange 2013 servers grows very large and it’s even over 20 GB.
    [Cause]
    It’s a by design behavior.
Different from the previous Exchange server, Safety Net which has the same function with the Transport dumpster in Exchange 2013 takes up the volume of the mail.que file and
it’s the feature which is responsible for the large size of the mail.que in Exchange 2013.
And here is a reference about the feature Safety Net in Exchange 2013:
    http://technet.microsoft.com/en-us/library/jj657495(v=exchg.150).aspx
    [Workarounds]
    1. Allocate large space for the Exchange 2013 installation or increase the volume for Exchange 2013.
These articles will also provide further detail of size calculating:

    (See section: “Transport storage requirements”)
    2. Moved queue database to another drive by using
    Move-DatabasePath
    3. Reduce the SafetyNetHoldTime and MessageExpirationTimeouton values to one day (default values are 2 days). And these commands can be in use:
    Set-TransportConfig SafetyNetHoldTime 1.00:00:00
    Get-TransportService | Set-TransportService -MessageExpirationTimeout 1.00:00:00

You cant move the queue database with move-databasepath. You have to follow this method:

    Hi Inder,
As per sap recommendation we would be able to handle 100 MB, you need to tune your server by increasing the [arametersso that you would be able to handle the messages with big payload.
By default the parameter  icm/HTTP/max_request_size_KB will be 10240 which can handle 100MB of file size.if you increase the parameter value by tuning ur system you can process a file bigger than that..
Please refer to the below links for reference....

  • File sizes shown to be twice as big in Finder

I work with 2 different Mac Pro towers.  The one at my home has Photoshop cs4 and the one at my studio has Photoshop cs6.  The other day I noticed that Finder on my studio computer shows the file size to be twice as big as the finder on my home computer.  The pixel dimension size doesn't change, just the file size.  It shows up that way after I save it on my studio computer. If I take that file home and resave it on that computer then the Finder shows the smaller file size again.  I guess the questions I have are: Is the file size is actually increasing and if so, what could be causing that to happen?  Photoshop shows the files to be the same size, but in the Finder window is where I see the difference.  Holla!!

Sounds like you have "Maximize Compatibility" enabled in the Photoshop which saves the bigger files, and have it disabled in the other Photoshop.
See the control in Preferences > File Handling.

All email service providers have a size limit on sending an email.  See the following link for info on yahoo mail's file size restrictions, and ensure you are within this restriction.

  • File size limit

    Hi All,
I am just asking this question about the file size which we can upload to BI cubes . Is there any file size limitation for the same.
I have not experienced any thing like this in past but just want to know incase anthing has been mentioned by SAP any where as I could not find any figure for the same.
Secondly if there is a DB connect between a source system and SAP BI , is there any size consideration for data transfer .
I tried to surf around and i have not experienced any thing such in the past .
    Will appreciate your replies

Considering the new recommended specifications for video podcasts and Apple TV, will this file size limit be increased?

  • HT4863 How can I increase the file size limit for outgoing mail. I need to send a file that is 50MB?

How can I increase the file size limit for outgoing mail. I need to send a file that is 50MB?

You can't change it, and I suspect few email providers would allow a file that big.  Consider uploading it to a service like Dropbox, then email the link allowing the recipient to download it.

  • Index file increase with no corresponding increase in block numbers or Pag file size

    Hi All,
Just wondering if anyone else has experienced this issue and/or can help explain why it is happening....
I have a BSO cube fronted by a Hyperion Planning app, in version 11.1.2.1.000
The cube is in it's infancy, but already contains 24M blocks, with a PAG file size of 12GB.  We expect this to grow fairly rapidly over the next 12 months or so.
After performing a simple Agg of aggregating sparse dimensions, the Index file sits at 1.6GB.
When I then perform a dense restructure, the index file reduces to 0.6GB.  The PAG file remains around 12GB (a minor reduction of 0.4GB occurs).  The number of blocks remains exactly the same.
If I then run the Agg script again, the number of blocks again remains exactly the same, the PAG file increases by about 0.4GB, but the index file size leaps back to 1.6GB.
If I then immediately re-run the Agg script, the # blocks still remains the same, the PAG file increases marginally (less than 0.1GB) and the Index remains exactly the same at 1.6GB.
Subsequent passes of the Agg script have the same effect - a slight increase in the PAG file only.
Performing another dense restructure reverts the Index file to 0.6GB (exactly the same number of bytes as before).
I have tried running the Aggs using parallel calcs, and also as in series (ie single thread) and get exactly the same results.
I figured there must be some kind of fragmentation happening on the Index, but can't think of a way to prove it.  At all stages of the above test, the Average Clustering Ratio remains at 1.00, but I believe this just relates to the data, rather than the Index.
After a bit of research, it seems older versions of Essbase used to suffer from this Index 'leakage', but that it was fixed way before 11.1.2.1.
    I also found the following thread which indicates that the Index tags may be duplicated during a calc to allow a read of the data during the calc;
    http://www.network54.com/Forum/58296/thread/1038502076/1038565646/index+file+size+grows+with+same+data+-
However, even if all the Index tags are duplicated, I would expect the maximum growth of the Index file to be 100%, right?  But I am getting more than 160% growth (1.6GB / 0.6GB).
And what I haven't mentioned is that I am only aggregating a subset of the database, as my Agg script fixes on only certain members of my non-aggregating sparse dimensions (ie only 1 Scenario & Version)
The Index file growth in itself is not a problem.  But the knock-on effect is that calc times increase - if I run back-to-back Aggs as above, the 2nd Agg calc takes 20% longer than the 1st.  And with the expected growth of the model, this will likely get much worse.
Anyone have any explanation as to what is occurring, and how to prevent it...?
Happy to add any other details that might help with troubleshooting, but thought I'd see if I get any bites first.
The only other thing I think worth pointing out at this stage is that we have made the cube Direct I/O for performance reasons. I don't have much prior exposure to Direct I/O so don't know whether this could be contributing to the problem.
    Thanks for reading.

I haven't tried Direct I/O for quite a while, but I never got it to work properly. Not exactly the same issue that you have, but it would spawn tons of .pag files in the past. You might try duplicating your cube, changing it to buffered I/O, and run the same processes and see if it does the same thing.

  • Increase in file size worse in XI Pro when signing.

    Hello there,
We started using AcrobatPro X for making, securing and signing PDF files of our test reports. The validity of these reports is not limited in time.
So we include this revocation information at time of signing. We use our Belgian eID-cards and place 2 signatures.
Recently I've noticed that when I use XI Pro (Win7, 64-bit) to sign the PDF (it does not matter is the file is made in X Pro or XI Pro) the size increased to 10MB.
When I sign the same file with X Pro (Vista, 32-bit) the file size only increases to 2MB ! (Here the revocation info was also included.)
(I am still looking into whether we need the LTV (or if OCSP can be used), so I did a test on XI Pro where I did not include revocation information, with the result: 4MB.)
The 10Mb file size is a problem for us as our test reports must be able to be send by e-mail.
How can the increase in file size (when signing with including the revocation information) between X and XI be explained?
How can this issue be resolved?

    I have several questions:
    1. What is the size of the original (before the first signature) file?
    2. Do you sign with Acrobat X and Acrobat XI at the same time (you may get different CRLs with different lengths at different times)?
    3. What is the PDF size after the first signature using Acrobat X?
    4. What is the PDF size after the first signature using Acrobat XI?
5 and 6: the same as 3 and 4 but after the second signature?
It does not make sense to me that with Acrobat X you get 2 signatures with LTV and the total PDF size is just 2MB and with Acrobat XI you get 2 signatures without LTV and the total PDF size is 4MB. This doesn't make sense. Are you sure you're signing the same PDFs with the same credentials at about the same time in both cases? Or did you mean that PDF size increases by 2MB in the Acrobat X case and by 4MB/10MB in Acrobat XI case? I'd prefer to have the total PDF sizes not the increases.
Another test you can do is this. Turn off "include revocation information at time of signing" on Acrobat preferences, sign your sample PDF with the same 2 signatures, then right-click on each signature and select "Add Verification Information" command for each signature (this is a new way to add LTV available in Acrobat/Reader 9.1 and later). Then save this PDF and check (and report back to this forum) the PDF size. You cannot use this LTV method if you expect that some users will open this PDF with Acrobat/Reader versions prior to 9.1. Those versions will not use this LTV type.
