Mail randomly not delivered

I am having problems with Mail.  Randomly, my mail does not reach it's recipients.  According to my service provider, they say a bad URL gets attached to my email and the message gets put into their spam filter.  I must stress that this is random problem.  It occurs mostly when I do a reply or a reply all, but has also happened on a newly composed email.  I have downloaded Sophos anti-virus and have done a scan.  This found one trojan which I deleted.  Further scans have yielded a clean system.  At one point I sent a test email to myself and did not receive it.  I have worked with the service provider quite extensively and the only thing they have come up with is this bad URL occasionally attached to my email.  I have set up a mail account on my son's mac to see if the problem occurs there also.  I'm guessing if the problem does not occur using my son's computer, the service provider will say the problem is with my computer.  I am most frustrated at trying to solve this problem.  Can anyone please advise?

There are no exceptions thrown. This is what is puzzling me so badly. As far as I can tell, the mail is being delivered to the mail server properly, but its rejecting some messages, and accepting others. Like for instance, if i put gibberish in the email, like 7000 characters of gibberish, it forwards the email fine. Then I try to use a normally formatted HTML email, and I never end up getting it (I'm sending it to myself for testing purposes).
Any ideas?

    Hello,
Are they just regular size eMails?
Do you have more than one eMail account setup?
    Next time it happens, get...

Hold Option or alt key when selecting Find to Find All.
Use it to Find All, for Name ends in...

  • Cron mail is not delivered, but can from command line

Hello, I have a strange problem with cron and sendmail that I cannot understand.
On my Solaris hosts, running Solaris 9 and 10, I have setup sendmail to masquerade to a Solaris zone acting as a mail relay.
This works fine, I can send mail from the command line using, for example:
    # /usr/bin/cat somefile | /usr/bin/mailx -s "test message" usernameAs I said, on all hosts, this works fine.
When I add the above command to a cron job, to email me a log for example, the mail is not deliverable and comes back to me (an alias as root).
Is this a mailx/cron thing or am I missing something??
I have copied the sendmail.cf file from a working machine to one of the ones with a problem and still the same problem exists.
My config file (relay.mc) for sendmail is as follows on each host that attempts to use the relay:

  • Sent e-mails are not delivered

A couple of months ago the e-mails sent from my Nokia E63 stopped being delivered. I get no error or warning, but they do not reach their recipients. Before, I had no problems in receiving and sending mails.
I updated the software of my Nokia to the latest available version (410.21.010), together with Nokia Messaging (9.7.0.21), but the issue has not been solved.
Both my accounts are set with blank outgoing servers, because my SMTP servers do not allow relay (error 500). Following the advise on Nokia website, I therefore used this setting (blank outgoing servers) successfully in the past, up to a couple of months ago.
Is there anyone else experiencing this problem?
Is there anyone from Nokia that could give me support on this issue?
    Solved!
    Go to Solution.

All of a sudden, today I received the e-mails I sent to test the Nokia server ten days ago!
After two months, the server appears to work again, as I checked by sending new test e-mails.
I don't know what happened in these two months, and Nokia only contacted me once to my e-mails (the official support website does not appear to work any more), telling me that everything was fine.
Let's see if this is the final word on this problem. In any case, I'm sorry to say that the service offered by Nokia (both the e-mail service and the support) is really too poor for such a leader brand.

  • Why some emails sent with OS X Mail is not delivered, and if I send the same e mail from the website of my hosting provider, to the same recipients, they are delivered?

Sometime, when I send an email with my Mac Book Pro, i receive the message:
Hi. This is the qmail-send program at smtplqs01.aruba.it.
I'm afraid I wasn't able to deliver your message to the following addresses.
This is a permanent error; I've given up. Sorry it didn't work out.
But if I try to send the same messagge, at the same email address, from the web site of my hosting providere, ther are not problem...
    Someone can help me?
    Thanks!!!

Could be a number of things, among them the fact that the recipient's inbox is full, or his/her ISP email server is a bit slow at hand-shaking with yours, and this of course can vary depending on the fact that the recipient's account is IMAP or POP.
When you send an email from a webmail, the grunt work is done by the SMTP server, and it's up to it to manage the multiple requests, their number, their frequency, their routing, etc... When you send an email from your Mail app, it'll send it once to your SMTP server, who'll process it a certain number of times before giving up, but you'll receive only one failure message.
If the recipient's an Microsoft Exchange account, you must know that those servers sometimes send and receive email in bulk, and at a variable refresh rate, hence the "Sorry, your email couldn't be distributed...".

  • Sent e-mails do not deliver in th same format

Using windows 7 with aol, I recently have been sending e-mails that do not arrive in the same format that I sent. Spacing is out of line, columns are out of order and the page is almost unreadable.

    Hi mjmarcus,
Firefox is a web browser. It displays the content of existing sites. Things like email or page contents come from the content provider. Who is your email provider? You'll probably have better luck consulting their help documentation. You might want to try from another browser as well so you can see if this issue is only happening in Firefox. I'd image that there is just some extra encoding being added to your emails if you are using the wysiwyg editor.
    Hopefully this helps!

  • Mail will not go out

I have several email accounts, including google and use two servers for outgoing mail, one a cable comlany and the other google. They have worked well for years.I recently upgraded to 10.8.4 and now I cannot send out email. I deleted all accounts, reset them and tried all sorts of other tricks. Diagnositcs shows green dots and says the connections are good. But the mail will not deliver. I am circuvmenting right now by going onlne with google. I reasd some discussion about ports and am wondering if there is a special port number. Or, has Apple screwed up and has yet to come up with a bug fix?

    Step 1
Take this step only if you have more than one incoming mail account, and only some of them are affected by the problem.
From the Mail menu bar, select
    Mail ▹ Preferences ▹ Accounts
From the account list on the left, choose one of the accounts that is not giving trouble. Select the Account Information tab if not already selected, and then uncheck the box marked
    Enable this account
Repeat with each of the other well-behaved accounts. Don't disable the problem accounts.
    Step 2
From the Mail menu bar, select
    Window ▹ Connection Doctor
Click the Show Detail button. A drawer opens. Try to send a message and post the text that appears. Anonymize any personal information before posting.
    Step 3
If you took Step 1, re-enable the disabled accounts.

  • Emails not delivered on Laptop once I read on BB

I have recently added my company email on Blackberry Torch 9800. Whenever I get any mail on my BB and I read it, while Outlook is not open on my laptop, the mail is not delivered on my laptop at all. I have already ticked the "leave a copy of messages on Server" in accounts settings.
Further, I receive mails on my BB in bunches after a gap varying from 20 mins to 1 hour after the sender has sent the mail to me. I receive from 4 - 10 mails at one single time, but not as and when they are posted.
After facing these problems, I upgraded the OS to 6.0.0 bundle 2647, however the behavior has not changed.
Is it related to BB or my company email server settings ?? Please help.
    Thanks in advance.

Hi and Welcome to the Community...and apologies for the delay!
Given your description, I deduce that you have integrated your company email via BIS rather than BES. As such, certain limitations exist that you should be aware of. But first, some clarification please...

    Please refer to this KB:
KB05133 Email reconciliation features for the BlackBerry Internet Service
I have no way of knowing which of the service types your company email is, but how it functions will be governed by that KB. Not all services are capable of placing Sent Items from the BB onto your mail server Sent Items.
You are further limited to the capabilities of Outlook to reconcile against your email server. If, for instance, you integrated to Outlook via POP, then that has no ability to show you, in Outlook, things placed into the server Sent Items folder by BIS when you send from your BB. Some IMAP email servers can integrate to Outlook well enough to display such items, but most actually do not. Your limitation here is one of Outlook and it's ability to show changes at the server to you on your computer... The BB interfaces solely with your email server...likewise Outlook interfaces solely with your server...your BB and Outlook have zero interface between each other...so what can work is governed by the capabilities between BIS and your server and separately between Outlook and your server.
I'm also confused by your wording in what I quoted above. If Outlook is not open on your laptop, then you quite naturally cannot see anything that goes on since Outlook is not open. Further, from your wording, one could surmise that something different happens when Outlook is open on your laptop, but you did not state that, so I can't conclude anything. Lastly, what you say about the "leave a copy of messages on the Server" should have no impact on what you've presented...that's a setting strictly inside of Outlook, and would govern what Outlook does when it retrieves messages from the server...in some cases, if you have Outlook removing from the server when it retrieves, they can be subsequently removed from the BB when it reconciles (again, governed by the KB above regarding the ability to reconcile Deleted Items from the Server to the BB). So, I'm not quite sure how this plays into the problem as you have presented it.

    This is normal...see this KB:
KB13374 Delayed email message delivery to the BlackBerry smartphone
Instant delivery/reconciliation is not a feature of BIS-level service...you would have to obtain BES-level service (both from your carrier for your BB as well as from your email service provider) in order to improve things. Based on what you have presented, I'd say it's WAD -- Working As Designed.

Yes, the OS on the BB would make no difference whatsoever...the limitations are those of BIS, and that would remain consistent regardless of what OS you run on your BB.

  • Mail hangs when it receives a report that an e-mail could not be delivered.

    Hi Guys :o),
One bug which is really bugging me is that every time I receive a bounced e-mail report, with a subject line containing words to the effect of:
    "Undeliverable. Return to sender."
    or:
"The message could not be delivered."
Mail is unable to pull any subsequent e-mails down from the POP server.
So I junk the report, and then I delete it.
However, lo and behold, the errant e-mail is INSTANTLY back in my Inbox, plus there's now AT LEAST one copy in my Mail Junk, and also AT LEAST one copy in my Mail Trash.
Round and round I go, junk, delete, junk, delete, but the errant e-mail refuses to go away, and Mail continues to be unable to pull any new e-mails down from the POP server.
Eventually, Mail just hangs, with a spinning disk.
Even a force quit and relaunch of Mail doesn't resolve the spinning disk.
The errant message just sits there, REFUSING to be deleted.
The only way to get round this bug is for me to go up to my POP server, delete the report, and then PURGE DELETE the report - on the POP server !
I then have to go in to my Mac, and go:
--> Users --> Home --> Library --> Mail --> Account --> Inbox, Junk, and Deleted
and then manually drag ALL copies of the report into the trash on the Desktop.
It happens so often (pretty much every day) that I've had to create a shortcut in my Dock which leads straight to the Account folder.
Mail has always been buggy under ALL versions of OS X, but this ongoing bug drives me crazy, mainly because there's NO logical reason for it.
Just because I receive an e-mail message from the Hotmail server, for example, which says that my e-mail could not be delivered, usually because the recipient's inbox is full, or because no such address exists, on paper, that's just another e-mail which Mail is pulling down from the POP server.
However, EVERY TIME I receive such a report, Mail hangs.
I'm reluctant to rebuild my Mailboxes, in case I lose any messages, but I will if you advise it.
Any workaround would be gratefully received.
With best wishes to everyone in the Apple community, especially those on the Infinity Loop.
In particular, I wish Mr Jobs a very speedy recovery.
    Cool,
    Michael T

Quit Mail, Right click on that Mail folder, choose archive, you'll get everything in the folder, and the folder itself in a file called Mail.zip, move it to a safe place, same for the Mail Downloads folder... only the plist is separate.
    /Users/YourUserName/Library/Preferences/com.apple.mail.plist
Not certain, but this can fix myriad Mail problems...
Safe Boot from the HD, (holding Shift key down at bootup), it will try to repair your Disk Directory while the spinning radian is happening, so let it go, run Disk Utility in Applications>Utilities, then highlight your drive, click on Repair Permissions, then move these folder & file to the Desktop.
Move this Folder to the Desktop...
    /Users/YourUserName/Library/Caches/Mail/
Move this file to the Desktop...
    /Users/YourUserName/Library/Mail/Envelope Index
    Reboot.
If that doesn't do it and you can afford to redo all your Rules, try these & reboot...
    /Users/YourUserName/Library/Mail/MessageRules.plist
    /Users/YourUserName/Library/Mail/MessageRules.plist.backup

  • Icloud mail, some forwarded messages not delivered

    Dear all,
I do forward my two professional mailboxes to icloud.com so I have all my emails centralized in a single location.
Since a few days, some of the messages forwarded are not delivered to my icloud inbox; I assume they are blocked by the spam assassin.
What is possible to do to avoid messages to be blocked ?
Is there a way to view messages blocked on server side ?  (messages do not arrive in Mail app as spam, it is not delivered at all!)
Is it possible to change the spam assassin working level ?
    Thanks in advance,
    Lionel

I have the same problem. E-mail messages from the website www.hotelkamerveiling.nl do not arrive in my iCloud mailbox. With Gmail, there is no problem. I contacted Apple about this. The say that they can't do anything about this problem. I think that is strange. As a user, you should be able to alter spam settings.

  • For the past day or 2 mail sent from .Mac Mail is not being delivered.

I have been using .Mac Mail and Apple Mail application on my computer for about 10 months. The past 2 days when I go to .Mac Mail online, compose an e-mail, click on send, get the message that says, "Your message has been sent." The e-mail is also in my Sent folder but the e-mail message is not delivered. I sent an e-mail this way to my Hotmail account, my Yahoo account and even to myself at my .Mac Mail account and none of them were delivered. I tried several times at different times and I just tried again now. Still no good. They never went to any of the inboxes even hours later. Is there something wrong with the outgoing .Mac Mail sever? Or what else can it be?

You didn't say what troubleshooting you did after the firmware update and problem...
    To get started...
Verify your drive with Disk Utility.
Repair permissions with Disk Utility (probably not the issue, but won't hurt)
    Try:
    mailbfr -o
    mailbfr -f
If you are still stuck, you'll need to post more detail about your configuration, hopefully more log detail and the contents of imapd.conf and the output of postconf -n

  • Procmail not delivering to Cyrus instead to /var/mail

    Hey guys,
I really need some help on this one.
Basically I have a postmaster user setup, which uses a .procmailrc file to dish emails out to the correct people. It used to work fine on my old 10.4 client system. But now using 10.4 Server I have ran into a problem.
Procmail manages to resend the emails to the correct people but all other emails are then moved to /var/mail/postmaster instead of going to the Postmasters inbox. Cyrus does not seem to use /var/mail/.
How do I tell Procmail how to leave the remaining messages in the postmasters inbox and not deliver to /var/mail/postmaster?
I don't need this for all system wide users, just this one account.
Does it make a difference if I tick "Deliver to /var/mail when POP & IMAP are disabled"?
    My .procmailrc file is below:
    SHELL=/bin/sh

    Just an update...
I gave up with Procmail in the end.
After much reading I realised that the Sieve scripting is much more powerful and userfriendly (once you get it going). You can use Squirrelmail to add and edit rules, even vacation messages too!
I had a clean install of 10.4.7, using Open Directory authentication and had no hiccups.
