  • HELP! Mail receives but will not send

Mail will receive but it will not send.
When I try to send I get the following pull down window.
"The sender address (sender name)@cox.net was rejected by the server smtp.west.cox.net"
Anyone have an idea why this is happening?
    Thanks

I have had this problem intermittently with my ISP (SBC).
Evidently at some point they upgraded security at their server so that the server rejects email addresses that it thinks are inauthentic to prevent Spammers from using these addresses -- all of my .mac email addresses were being rejected because SBC servers thought a SPAMMER was "impersonating" my computer to get through their server. I am sorry I can't explain this better.
It took quite a few phone calls to clear it up and I also had to move up the technical support food chain. Request a MAC technician and then keep requesting that person's supervisor.
All of my .mac email addresses had to be validated on their servers.

  • Mail receives but  will NOT send out

I've never had a problem but now the mail app for apple no longer sends. I get it fine, forwarded and synched to mobile me and gmail accounts fine. When I try to send out of the account I get the message "cannot send message using the server smtp.east.*$&.net When I click on "connection Doctor" Connection status-"mail was able to connect to the internet. Any ideas? thank you

It could be that your ISP wants you to use a specific outgoing mail server. Check with your ISP. Sometimes they will only allow you to use their outgoing mail server when you're on their network and not your own. For example, if you use Optimum Online they may only let you use mail.optonline.com for outgoing so you couldn't use mail.yourdomain.com.
They do this to cut down on people sending spam from their networks.

  • My mail will only receive but will not send

my mail will not send i get a message saying it can't send the message using server stmp......
    i can receive mail though
    HELP?

Ok, several servers seem to have grown more restrictive about the From-addresses they accept and about demanding passwords. There are no open servers anymore that you can use when your own doesn't work. I'm currently busy adding passwords to the servers I'm using after reading advice on these pages. I'm somewhat annoyed that no server ever told me that they wanted passwords, only sending back blunt rejection messages. But my domain server seems to work now at least, hope it lasts. It's only the last week that the server has stopped working completely, and the web hotel never sent me any message that they had started demanding a password for the outgoing server. (The incoming server of course always demanded a password.)
Another big source of annoyment is Gmail, whose outgoing server always works without asking passwords, but it automatically changes the From-address to my gmail-address. It caused me a lot of embarrassing trouble communicating with my clients recently before I discovered it through finding all their missing answers in the Gmail-folder...

  • TS3276 Receive but can not send email

I cannot send email. I used the connection doctor and it shows a green dot for my esp but send button is still dimmed. In the Accounts section Outgoing Mail Server it says "off line" but I still can receive emails.

Yesterday outgoing mail couldn't recognise my outgoing mail server so wouldn't send. I deleted the outgoing mail sever for the account (having first written down what it was (smtp.talktalk.net in this case), and made a new one with the same server, so basically just duplicated it. This allowed me to send mail.
This morning the send button was greyed out, and when I went to the outgoing server settings it said 'None'. Selecting the new version of the outgoing server I typed in last night, quitting and restarting Mail has my send button back.
I know these aren't quite the symptonms you have, but it may give you a clue since no-one else has more specific instructions.

  • TBird will receive gmail but will not send emails with TBird wants new password..

I can send and receive gmail online OK. I have a problem now that used to work. When I want to email a link to a page or send an email directly from TBird I get and error message. I tried retyping the gmail password but I get the same error message. I tried following some of the instructions on other pages, but I got all tangled up in all the words and examples not matching what is on my TBird
    Please answer in simple English,
    Thanks,

  • Mail received but will not appear

I'm running OS v10.5.8 and Mial v3.6.  When opening mail I see incoming message totals next to the inbox but no messages show up in the preview pane.  If it is an Apple mesage [via RSS] it shows up. i've tried Rebuilding, Reindexing, importing my POP mailbox, and have plenty of disk space. Any suggestions?

Didn't try that,  with Apple Supports' help pulled the Mail folder out of my Library folder & apple.mail.com.plist out of Preferences folder and placed them on my desktop.  In short, rebooted my Mail program.  What ever was fired with my Inbox is now fixed & everything is working [after importing the old sent & deleted messages from the old Mail folder].
    Thanks for your help.

Try this first - Reset the iPad by holding down on the Sleep and Home buttons at the same time for about 10-15 seconds until the Apple Logo appears - ignore the red slider - let go of the buttons. (This is equivalent to rebooting your computer.)
Or this - Delete the account in Mail and then set it up again. Settings->Mail, Contacts, Calendars -> Accounts   Tap on the Account, then on the red button that says Remove Account.

  • I have a tiscali email account set up on my iPhone it receives emails but will not send - any one had the same issue ?

I have a tiscali email account set up on my iPhone it receives emails but will not send - any one had the same issue ?

Of course you can't it is a generic document for use worldwide on every carrier mail service
The link will tell you how to set up with the info you will have received from TalkTalk when they installed your broadband
You just add that info for SMTP settings
    in iPhone
settings>>>>mail contacts a7 calendars>>>chose relevant service (tiscali or TT which ever it is called >>>outgoing mail server
all as decribed in the above document
now read the doc again and follow the instructions once you have established the correct settings from your
    TT documentation

  • My ipad receives email with the hotel wifi but will not send.  The error message is "user name or password for ........is incorrect" but both are correct and unchanged.  Restarting iPad didnt help.

My iPad receives email on the hotel wifi but will not send.  The error message reads "user name or password for smpt......is incorrect" but both are correct and unchanged.  Restarting iPad did not help.

I did try this too, but when I access my webmail on the iPad, the iPad doesn't allow me to type my message.  I am able to enter in the "to" address and the "subject" line, but then the keyboard will not come up for me to type my message.  Is there some trick to this?  Very frustrating!

  • Mail receives OK but will not send for smtp account.  Exchange server receives/sends OK

mail receives OK but will not send for smtp account.  Exchange server receives/sends OK  I'm away from home, using a family-member's wireless network that has always worked OK in the past.  Today, the same problem occured while waiting in a hospital waiting lounge.  Any ideas?

The outgoing mail server may be rejecting mail from your network address. Typically that happens when your mail service provider is also your ISP, and you connect to it from another network. The SMTP server will allow connections without a password from anywhere, but it will only relay mail from within the ISP's network. It could also be that your account on the server has expired or been suspended.
If you need to send mail from outside your ISP's network, use an independent mail service provider. I don't have a specific recommendation.
