Mail refuses to show messages in one mailbox but is working with another?

I have two mailboxes in Mail, a gmail one and a .ac.uk one from my university. The gmail one appears to be functioning as normal. However all the messages present in my .ac.uk mailbox have disappeared. I have logged into that account through the university web system and the messages are all still there. How can I get them to reappear in the Mail app? I was able to send a message from the ac.uk account through Mail but don't know if I can receive messages.

Try Rebuild. Click on the Mailbox. The last item in the Mialbox menu is Rebuild. Select that.

Tonight I used my scanner and it worked fine. Then a few minutes later I tried to scan another documentand it wouldn't work. I finally logged off, and switched users (to Administrator) and I was able to use thescanner. I don't know why it works for one user but not the other. (This is very inconvenient.) A couple of questions...
1. Does the unit immediately kernel panic when power from the bus hits the drive?
2. Does it happen in multiple users?
3. If you startup, interrupt the boot process and boot to the startup manager (by holding option on startup) and then plugin the SuperDrive does it kernel panic there as well?
When a peripheral causes a unit to go into this state, there's little that can be done to troubleshoot from a software perspective. Especially if your answer to all three questions above was "yes." You can certainly try resetting the PRAM & SMC, to see if there is any change. But, I think the next best step might be to bring the machine and this optical drive to see a qualified technician.

It could be a firewall issue. Try disabling the firewall and see if that helps.

Do you have that person blocked? Set to Do Not Disturb (Open the conversation thread, tap Details in the upper right, check that DND is set to Off)?

Unable to connect mac OSX 10.4.11 to wireless network (virgin media) even though iPad, iPhone and laptop ok. Get message 'password incorrect' even though it works with other devices. Keep getting message connect to BT unrestricted access.

Keep getting 'do I want to connect to BT unrestricted network' which I have never used before. I can get my ISP details input but get message 'incorrect password' even though it works with 3 other devices. My network provider, Virgin Media, sent an engineer but he couldn't solve the problem - said network was all ok so problem must be with my iMac (OSX 10.4.11). When I try to use internet I get BTWiFi is current wireless network - I've never used this! I've tried to change this and virgin media details are accepted, it's just the password stage that prevents me from connecting. Excuse me barging in on the thread, but I have a lot of experience with Telus, and roaming with my BlackBerry (currently a Z10). In short, you've been fed some outdated info by the Telus rep. Telus has become very Android-centric, and it seems like a good number of Telus CSR's are still reading from a Legacy BlackBerry trouble-shooting guide.
My Z10 is unlocked, and I periodically use an AT&T sim when traveling in the US. I have never had to change an email setting to get full email function -- including the SMTP settings. To put it simply, your device first connects to a network using credentials provided. At most hotels, for instance, your device will scan for and pick up a WiFi network. The hotel will tell you the WiFi network name and give you a password to use. You simply enter the password when prompted, then you may have to agree to certain conditions. That's it.
Your email settings are just that. Using whichever network to which you are connected, the user name and password give you access. The settings coincide with the email provider's server settings. These don't typically change with the location from which you are connecting.
I'd suggest you take a look at this very helpful email settings tool provided by BlackBerry, if you are having difficulty: http://helpblog.blackberry.com/2013/03/email-account-validation-tool/
It helps you determine the possible settings for connecting to your email provider. Different providers offer different connection options, sometimes more than one. Opinions vary, but my preference in descending order is: ActiveSync, IMAP, then POP if required. ActiveSync (aka EAS) and IMAP will offer 2-way sync.

I have since fiund out that the talk to text feature is only available on devices that support Siri, iPad3, iPhone4 and later. Hope this helps someone else.

You cannot merge Apple IDs but you can go to Settings > iCloud and 'Delete Account'. When prompted to turn off documents and data, choose the only option which is Delete from my iPhone, but on the other prompt for Contacts, Calendars, etc you can choose 'Keep on my iPhone' Then once the Account is Deleted form the iPhone, log back in with the correct Apple ID and choose Merge when prompted. This will merge your data from this iPhone with that iCloud account effectively putting your devices on the same account.

Solution for Windows 8.1: Locate the C:\Users\USER\AppData\Local\Adobe\OOBE folder. Log out of Creative Cloud and from Task Manager end task for Creative Cloud. From the OOBE folder delete ALL files. Do not delete folders (com.adobe.accc.apps & com.adobe.accc.home). When complete, restart Creative Cloud and log in with ID and Password.

Junk Mail folder refusing to show messages from a particular account

So, I have a weird problem with Leopard Mail (3.2) - when I click on the junk mail folder, 99% of the time it won't show messages from my Yahoo POP account. The only way I can get messages from this account to show is by expanding the junk mail folder, clicking on a different sub-account, then clicking on my Yahoo account. This will show the messages in its junk folder, and if I click on the combined junk folder they will show up inside it. This will work until I click away from junk - say, to my inbox - at which point the procedure will need to be repeated if I wish to see my Yahoo junk mail.
I've only noticed it very recently, but I'm not sure how long it's been going on. Unbelievably annoying. I deleted the junk folder, no luck. I toggled the account off/on - this seemed to work for a day, but the behaviour's back and I can't make this work again. I rebuilt the mailbox... Even deleted and added the account again, but it still did the same thing.
Has anyone else experienced this? Is it just a bug in Leopard Mail? Something specifically with POP accounts, perhaps? (My 5 IMAP accounts seem fine). If anyone has any further suggestions I'd be really, really grateful.

Ok, so, something in way of an update: Normal behaviour appears to be restored after Mail detects a piece of junk mail and puts it in the junk folder for this account (manual marking of junk doesn't do the trick). Then it works ok until I quit Mail.

Mail: no content in messages in one folder - disappeared

I have one mailbox that lists the mail in the folder but has no content in the text.
Text encoding is automatic - no idea why only one mailbox has this problem.
I can see the mail, the subject line, to and from, and if I open a message it's blank.
If I try 're-send' the message part is also blank.
I MAY (not sure if I was in this mailbox at time) have done an accidental 're-build' last week. But nothing else.
Anyone any ideas?

I'm having the same or similar issue. New erase and install off of 10.5.1 dvd on to Aluminum G4 Powerbook. Previous to that I copied all old mail to our NAS. Updated 10.5.1 to 10.5.3, setup the Mail program and it went to our mail server (1and1) and downloaded all the messages that were on it. Seemed to work fine, it downloaded a few weeks of old mail and they were listed as new messages in the inbox of Mail - all good so far. Then I used the Import menu item to import all the old messages I'd placed on the NAS. So using the import Mac OS X Mail selection, I got busy importing thousands of old messages. Again it looked like everything was working correctly.
However, the content of the messages on the main Inbox - the top inbox that initially downloaded the mail off the server - was missing. The details still showed the messages as having content such as attachments, but nothing showed up on the lower pane of the Mail program, like your issue.
Long story a little bit longer, I also noticed that in the newly imported mail from the NAS there was the original Inbox from my old version of mail that was doubling up what was just downloaded on the new install.. hmmm.. so looking in there, the same messages were listed as in the top level Inbox and they had content. Seems like something is screwing up, but I found the content of my old messages in the imported mail.

Encrypted message on one Mac, but not the other, from same server

I run Mail.app on two Macs, both getting mail off the same Exchange server. Multiple times in the last few weeks, a message will download to one Mac and be fine, and then the other Mac will retrieve the message, and it will suddenly be encrypted. Before a bunch of garbled text, something like the following always appears:

If you go to Webmail on the server, the message reads fine. And it is readable on the other Mac. I tried going to View/Message and choosing "next best alternative" but those options are grayed out. Could there be anything else set locally that is making the email unreadable on one machine but not the other? The unreadable version is always on this Mac (a Mac Mini) and not the other one (a MacBook), even though both are running the same OS version and Mail.app version.

Navigate to your Applications folder.
Right Click on iTunes and select Show Package Contents.
Navigate to Contents/MacOS/
Double-click on iTunes Helper(to get it running). This allows iTunes to start when you plug in your iPhone.
Open System Preferences and go to Users & Groups.
Select the Login Items tab to view the list.
Drag iTunes Helper from the Finder into the Login Items to get it to run at login.
Delete it from Login Items on the Mac you don't want it to start iTunes on.
