Mail repeatedly asks me to enter password

Every time my sysem checks for new mail it asks me to enter the password.  As far as I can tell all the information is correct in account setup.  This is very tiresome.  what's the fix??

Until recently (last couple of weeks), everything wasworking fine on my MacBook Pro (2.66 GHz Intel Core i7). I’m running OS X Lion10.7.1. Now, Mail intermittently (though annoyingly frequently) throws up thefollowing dialogue box:
Enter password for account “Yahoo!”
The Yahoo! POP server “plus.pop.mail.yahoo.com” rejected thepassword for user “account name”
Enter your password again or cancel.
Remember this password in my keychain.
Completing the information requested and checking the boxfor the password to be remembered isn’t solving the issue.
I’ve reviewed my Keychain and Mail settings and all appearsto be fine. I’m a Comcast customer. I’ve reviewed postings and suggestedremedies, but haven’t gone as far as deleting the offending Yahoo! account andsetting it up again (I’m scared of losing emails, don’t quite understand theexport function to archive emails, and don’t get what setting it up again woulddo anyway). Has anyone found a solution to this issue? Or should I do theexport, delete the account in Mail, and set it up again?
Please help! Thanks.

  • I changed my Apple ID password and validated it OK but when I try to update or download apps now it asks me to enter password and then says it's not been validated.  how do I get out of this?

I changed my Apple ID password and successfully validated it.  Problem is the iPad App Store won't recognise me anymore.  if I select an App to update it asks me to enter password, then says "You have not verified your Application ID.Tap OK to view the instructions on how to verify your ID.".
A new pop up box then appears saying an email has been sent to my address.  The box to resend this is greyed out and the bottom line says "your email has already been validated successfully. thank you."
Any suggestions on how to solve this problem and force the iPad to let me update or download Apps again?

Same issues here. I try and log into face time and cloud, it tells me my email is not veryfied. I go back through the link sent in the verification email and, low and behold, it tells me my address has already been veryfied.
Getting really annoyed now. I have tried using a different email to log in with, but not even getting the verify email in my inbox, even after it states it has sent one.
CMON APPLE!!! Please resolve this glitch.

  • HT5622 I had to change my iTunes password. Now, when I try to download a song, it repeatedly asks me for my password. This is frustrating! Can anyone tell me what I can do about this??

I had to change my iTunes password. Now, when I try to buy a song, it repeatedly asks me for the password and doesn't seem to register it and go to the next step. It's becoming very frustrating. And, equally, if not more frustrating, is the fact that there is no simple way to contact Apple to find out how to fix the problem. I hope someone here has the solution.
    Thank you!

After you changed the PW did you go to Settings>iTunes and App stores and sign out and sign back in?

  • New update are listed on the app icon. When I click update all I'm prompted to enter password. When I do, the progress bars go away and nothing gets updated. Tried logging out, reset iPad, and nothing seems to work. Keeps asking me to enter password.

I've been having the same problem for days and just solved it. Tried going to Apple ID and had all the same problems you did in the second paragraph. I signed out with my current username on the ipad under settings--->store and signed back in with my oldest apple id and password. Now the apps don't ask for a password to upgrade. I too had a username that wasn't an email address and had to change to one that was at some point. That's what caused the problems. Hope this can work for you.

  • Apple Mail keeps asking me for my password ... over and over

    Hi,
I am having an issue that is driving me crazy on my macbook.
I have set up my mail password without issues and was accessing this until a month ago on a regular basis. Now, when I access it, it asks me for my password every 30 seconds - I have tried entering it, validating it, changing it, deleting past the message, resetting the entire account from the preferences ( including deleting the account and re-adding it ) but nothing seems to work.
Does anyone have any what I need to do to get this to work? I'm wondering if I need to start deleting keychains but surely the system should use the latest version and I should not need to. This is driving me crazy - all I want to do is write a mail and I spend 30 mins tryingt to get past this message.
    Thanks for your help,
    Matthew

    go to Applications/Utilities/Keychain Access
on the left, for Keychains, select login
    for Category, select Passwords
use the search box to search for all keychain entries related to the passwords in question
    delete those entries
in the Keychain Access menu, scroll down to Keychain First Aid
enter your password, select repair, and start
I don't know if a restart is needed at this point but it wouldn't hurt.
you will have to enter your passwords again but this time they should stick.

  • Mail keeps asking for my Yahoo password all of a sudden???

Anyone else suddenly have to enter their Yahoo password everytime mail checks for updates?  This has just happened recently, after the last update and is driving me nuts.  Help?

Ok so apparently I have been having this question & issues for months. I got so tired of pop up for pw screen. So i did my research with yahoo....
Apparently if you have a FREE yahoo account (email)  , well then your SOL.... Basically....  You now  have to   upgrade to Yahoo Mail Plus ( http://mailplus.mail.yahoo.com/ ) the cost shows $19.99 p/yr. and in reading ABOUT Yahoo Mail Plus it mentions,  the ability to use email clients such as outlook ,etc..
A BIG DISAPPOINTMENT for me, but THANK GOD I finally decided to seek help and now I got my answer. Hope this helps other frustrated YAHOO'ers that were having the same issues with Mac Mail on OS Mountain Lion for Macpro

  • Trying to use the Airport Utility it repeatedly asks me for a password

It has the trying to access loading bar pop up for 10 seconds, then asks me for the password, which I type in. It then accepts it and loads some more.... and then asks for the password again.
One time it eventually loaded up so I could configure, but most of the time it just repeats this indefinitely, and when the loading bar finally hits the end (after asking 15 times for the password) it goes back to the beginning.
This repeats until I get frustrated and quit trying or it gives me an error message telling me to make sure the connection is valid (error 10057). Obviously its a valid connection because I'm posting this right now.

With the phone connected look in iTunes. Click on the phone's name. Is Encrypt Backup checked? At some time in the past it was checked and you entered a password to encrypt the backup. In general this is a smart thing to do, but you need to remember the password. After the first time it will not ask again. If you have a Mac the password may be in your keychain. The good news is that you get as many tries as you want to guess the password. Think about what you might have entered as a password the first time you backed up the phone. To speed up the process uncheck "Encrypt backup". It will immediately prompt for the password.
If you have a corporate Exchange email account on the phone the requirement to encrypt may have come from your Exchange administrator. If this is the case try some old domain passwords.

I have several accounts downloading into my IMAC Mail.  Recently, it started randomly asking my for my password on one or more of the accounts.  Although I have checked the box to tell it to remember the password in my keychain, it's memory is only temporary.  Any suggestions on how to fix this?

  • Mail repeatedly asks to verify certificate

    Hi
    Using Mail 3.6 on 10.5.8
When I send from my .me account I am repeatedly ask to verify the recipient, with an oval connect button.
Can I stop mail from asking me this every time?
    AS

    To Clarify,
"Mail can't verify the identitiy of "smtp.mail.me.com".
The certificate for this serve was signed by an unknown certifying authority.  You might be connecting to a server that is pretending to be "smtp.mail.me.com" which could put your confidential information at risk.  Would you like to connect to the server anyway?
I get three balloons to chose from, show certificate, cancel, and connect.

For about the past week or so Mail has trouble with a gmail account of mine.  I'll try to send an email with the account and the 'select server' dialog will pop up.
Weird because I have 2 other gmail accounts in Mail (screenshot) and 1 of 'em ALSO is having problems but the other is NOT.

  • Repeatedly asked for encrypted drive password

Hi - I've just partitioned an external drive into two and encrypted each seperately by right clicking on them and choosing encrypt drive - all went well. One partition is for time machine and the other for random files. Then the first time I reattached the drive I was asked to put the encryption password in again, so I did and asked for it to be added to keychain - now everytime I plug the drive in it asks for the password again even though it is in keychain. I've deleted them from keychain and started again but I still end up with the same problem. Also, if you click cancel when it asks you for the password it goes ahead and mounts the drive using the keychain password anyway! What gives? Is there something wrong with the encryption or keychain? What am I missing?
    Thanks!

    Back up all data.
Launch the Keychain Access application in any of the following ways:
☞ Enter the first few letters of its name into a Spotlight search. Select it in the results (it should be at the top.)
☞ In the Finder, select Go ▹ Utilities from the menu bar, or press the key combination shift-command-U. The application is in the folder that opens.
☞ Open LaunchPad. Click Utilities, then Keychain Access in the icon grid.
Select the login keychain from the list on the left side of the Keychain Access window. If your default keychain has a different name, select that.
If the lock icon in the top left corner of the window shows that the keychain is locked, click to unlock it. You'll be prompted for the keychain password, which is the same as your login password, unless you've changed it.
Right-click or control-click the login entry in the list. From the menu that pops up, select Change Settings for Keychain "login". In the sheet that opens, uncheck both boxes, if not already unchecked.
    From the menu bar, select
Keychain Access ▹ Preferences ▹ First Aid
If the box marked Keep login keychain unlocked is not checked, check it.
    Select
Keychain Access ▹ Keychain First Aid
from the menu bar and repair the keychain. Quit Keychain Access.

  • Facebook app keeps repeatedly asking me to enter my password since changing my password

I've seen similar issues to this here and there, but found no solutions that actually worked for me.  I changed my Facebook password the other day, and ever since then, my Android phone keeps prompting me to re-enter my Facebook password several times.  I've tried:
Pressing the Log Out button and then logging back in with my new password.
Uninstalling the Facebook app and reinstalling it and entering my new credentials.
Going into Settings->Applications->Manage applications->Facebook and pressing Force Stop, as some  have suggested.  However, the Force Stop button doesn't do anything when I press it.  I haven't seen anyone else mention this issue.
I can use the Facebook app once I re-enter my password, but it's a major pain in the butt to have to enter it so many times, plus the fact that Facebook e-mails me every time I do to inform me that I logged on from the Android app.  Anyone have any suggestions, or know why the above solutions don't work?

Lets have you try two things.
go to Settings > applications > manage applications > facebook > clear data/cache.
Also, inside of manage applications, click "ALL" on the top of the screen and locate facebook and try to clear it here - just to make sure you don't have multiple facebook applications.
Then, go to your browser, click the menu button on the bottom of your phone, then click on more in the bottom right, then scroll down and click on settings.
Click the following buttons:  Clear Cache, Clear History, Clear all Cookie Data, Clear form data, Clear Passwords.
Note:  You will have to enter in your passwords at least once for each account you have (except email accounts).

  • Mail keeps asking for SMTP account password

My mail has quit working and prompts me to enter my password for the account. I enter the password but the prompt comes back every 40 seconds asking for the password again. Mail does not function at all now. Problem started about a month ago. How can I fix this?

Mail asking for a password that you had previously had no problem with usually means the mail server at .Mac/MobileMe is on the fritz. These things usually resolve themselves on their own, but if it persists you may not be making contact with the mail server and may need to restart your computer. Sometimes just logging out of your account on your Mac and logging back in will fix it too.
