Mail replies with super tiny font

I'm using the Mail software that comes with my macbook.
My setting for the fonts are
Mailbox font: Lucida Grande Size 11
Message list font: Lucida Grande Size 12
Message font: Lucida Grande Size 12
However, the font size of email replies from friends who are using MS Outlook are super tiny. And this happen only to those who use MS Outlook to reply to my emails. Why is that so? Is there anyway I can fix this?
Thank you.

I just started using Mail in a work environment and have the same problem--e-mails sent by others from PCs (usually using Outlook) appear tiny in mail. You can make them larger by changing the overly simplified "message font" in Preferences, but then all the mails you compose will be that same large font size.
Fortunately, others have had the same problem and there is a better solution--increase the minimum font size in Mail.
Go into Terminal and enter the instruction described here:
http://www.macosxhints.com/comment.php?mode=view&cid=73652&query=mail%20font
I did it and it works like a charm. Can't help you if you want to switch back to whatever the minimum size was before though.

  • Java 7 Update 7 and 9 on Mac Lion OS 10.7.4 - Applet printing tiny fonts

As of Java 7, when you go to print from an Applet the fonts are no longer readable (super tiny). A preview of the same on content on the screen is not an issue only show a font issue when you print the contents.
To see this failure in action you can test using this page:
    [applet demo|https://www.peernet.com/PEERNETReportsServer3/ademos.htm]
    On this page,:
    1) press the preview button to show the page to be printed
    2) press the 'Print...' button, print to any printer and you see the textual information is just printed as dashes (super tiny font).
Any suggestions on how to correct Java 7 printing from applets.
BTW: Works fine from a full Java application.

  • TCS3 Frame Conditionl text causing tiny fonts in RH Topics

With a linked FrameMaker book, in the Conversion Settings dialog box > Other Settings, I've selected Apply FrameMaker Conditional Text Build Expression. In FrameMaker I've selected Show as per Expression.
The results are disappointing. In apparently random paragraphs in topics that include conditional text, RH is inserting this in the html:
    <span style="font-size: 4.0pt;">
Sometimes it inserts it alone, and sometimes it includes it with other extraneous information such as:
    <span style="font-style: normal; font-weight: normal;
    font-size: 4.0pt; letter-spacing: 0.00em;">
There are no paragraph ovrrides in any of these instances, and it only happens when Apply FrameMaker Conditional Text Build Expression is selected. I could build my expressions in Robohelp, but I'd prefer to manage conditions in Frame for reasons such as excluding many sections (topics in RH) that are conditionalized as "print only." With this check box selected, they don't appear in RH; but without it selected, I'd need to conditionalize the topic again in RH.
    Any thoughts?

I just wanted to update in case anyone else has a similar issue.
The problem has gone away and I'm not entirely sure how I did it. I suspect it has to do with how I displayed the conditional text in FrameMaker. Typically I'll just use the Show/Hide dialog box to move conditions to the Show or Hide areas. When I instead built an expression that excluded the conditions (e.g, NOT"Cond1"ANDNOT"Cond2" etc), the problems with the tiny fonts ended. Interestingly, the problem persisted when I built expressions that included conditions.

  • Tiny font on Menu Bar & on window when using Apple Mail on new Macbook Air

I have a new MacBook Air and all is good - except my Mail window has tiny fonts, including on the tool bar, and the Menu Bar is also has smaller fonts when Mail is active. I have made the actual messages readable but the rest of the screen is almost too small to read.

I just got my new MacBook Air and I was also really, really disappointed that the menu bar fonts - and all default text sizes in general - are much too small. I wonder if it has to do with the fact that the optimal resolution for the monitor is now 1440x900 instead of 1280x800 as it was in the older MacBook Air models. I guess I just have to go to the optician and get myself a pair of glasses...
But I think this is clearly a design -related problem that Apple should fix asap!

I like the mail feature with one exception; I cannot figure out how to change the font size of incoming mail permanently.  And, when answering an email I have to highlight the first few words and zoom it so I can see what I am writing.  what am I missing?

You can type the email using what you set in preferences and then highlight the text and use command - minus sign (or command - + for larger) to reduce the size of the text.
You can also type command - T and a window will appear allowing you to select fonts/sizes/color/ background highlight.
The above works in Notes also. I haven't tried to do this in any other Apple application.
For incoming emails, you can use the above to reduce font size, but I don't know of a way to permanently set the incoming font size to a default.

  • Help with Super Annoying Issues: Mail and Speaker Buzz

I'm about to throw this phone through an Imac Store Window. It's cool 'n all BUT, when checking my mail messages, MAIL automatically goes into retrieval mode and keeps downloading JUNK Mail. How do I turn this mofo off if I just want to look at my messages? Also, do i have to delete each frickin message individually? Can I delete a whole file of messages? I figured the geeks at Apple would have figured this out. This is annoying and NOT cool. Lastly, my speakers at my computer, in my car and at my home stereo pick up this hella irritating buzz/crackle whenever the phone is around due to its continually bluetooth download-search feature. Anyone else experience this? Honestly, the phone is overrated. Thanks. Robert

The iPhone's Mail client is no different from every other email client on the planet in this regard. If there are new messages available at the incoming mail server, junk or otherwise, it will download them. You need to address your junk mail problems with your email account provider and your habits, which play a part.
If your iPhone is causing a speaker buzz, you have cheap or improperly shielded speakers or wiring/connections, and you can turn off Bluetooth access when not being used, which also conserves battery consumption.

  • My email page is suddenly super tiny! I cannot read it! HELP!

All of a sudden, my email page is super tiny. I cannot read my emails and cannot figure out how to bring my page back to normal size. None of my other pager are tiny. Please help!

Hold down CTRL and hit the "+" key several times to increase the font size.
Also, click the Firefox button, go to Options | Options | Content and in the Fonts & Colors menu, click the Advanced button. Where you see "Minimum Font Size", set it "9" (or higher).
Also, remove the checkmark from "''Allow pages to choose their own fonts''...."
I've included a screenshot of my own setup in case you want to try experimenting with fonts as well.

  • Is there a way to prevent Mail from loading non system fonts?

For over a year, and a system OS upgrade, Mail has been taking 7 - 10 minutes to load all the thousands of fonts I have on my computer for graphic design. This started with Snow Leopard on my 2009 Mac Pro (10 GB RAM, 2 TB HDD). At first I didn't know why the computer was taking such a long time to finish boot up. So I reformatted the drive--zeroing it out. Then I installed Mavericks and reinstalled everything else. Finally I tried logging the system activity during startup and noticed that something to do with fonts took up the biggest chunk of this time. Because Mavericks loads any programs you leave running at shut down, I saw that if Mail had the fonts window open, the list of fonts would slowly grow, filling up with the many font families I use for my work. I called tech support for my font management utility but they say the fonts are not in the system and and shouldn't affect the system during startup. In the end I gave up and just go drink a few coffees after hitting the start button. It's like going back to the early days 25 years ago.
Can I stop Mail from loading any non-system fonts? I never use anything but the default font.

    Hey SchenkerBob,
It is possible to disable non-system fonts temporarily for all applications using the Font Book application. This article explains how to do so -
Mac Basics: Font Book - Apple Support
    In particular -
    Disable and enable specific fonts
In situations where you'd like to prevent a font from being available in applications, but you don't want to completely remove the font from your Mac, you can use Font Book to disable the font.
In Font Book, click "All Fonts" in the Collection column.
Click the name of the font in the Font column.
Choose Disable "Font Name" Family from the Edit menu.
Since it might be problematic to have to disable each font individually, you can create a collection of fonts and disable the collection. See the article for how to create a font collection -
    Organize fonts as collections
When working with fonts, you may discover that you use certain fonts frequently, but rarely use others. To make it easier to find the font you are looking for, you can organize your fonts into collections.
From the Font Book File menu, choose New Collection.
Type in a name for the new collection.
Click "All Fonts" in the Collection column.
Drag the fonts that you want from the Font column onto the name of your new collection in the Collection column.
You can then disable collections of fonts -
You can also disable or enable all fonts in a collection: Click the name of the collection in the Collection column, then choose Disable "Collection Name" or EnableCollection Name" " from the Edit menu.
Thanks for using Apple Support Communities.
    Happy computing,
    Brett L

  • E-mail replies ===   time lag  !!

Dear Adobe team. e-mail replies more or less work now (apart from the still unfixed formatting issues).
But ... sometimes there are considerable delays between the e-mail reply and the time that it's posted to your website. Sometimes 10-30 minutes. Of course, nobody can prove that it's Adobe servers not being able to catch up with all the e-mails. It might just as well have been delayed on it's way through "e-mail cyberspace" ...
But I was writing mails to other people at the same time and they did reply back immediately ...
... still no proof of anything.
Just saying that you might want to check your server load, etc., because it happens that users don't find their e-mail reply here on the forums and then double post via the web interface (only to see their message posted a second time via e-mail then) ....

  • Sending a document as an mail attachment with approve and reject button

    Hi all,
i have an infopath form where a user fills the form and on submit the form is saving as an document in the document library,
now my question is, how can i get this document as an mail attachment with approve and reject option.

    Hello,
You need to hide them on form load for user. Add one more hidden control in form and keep control value blank initially. Now add rule on button submit to set the control value to some other so you can hide/show the button.
Now add rule on approve and reject buttons that, if field1 is blank then hide this control.

  • How to use's mail's "perform mail action with message"

I can't for the life of me figure out how to use "perform mail action with message", I basically want to create a script that get's used on a rule from Mail, but nothing I try will work.
This is what I started with...
    tell application "Mail"
perform mail action with message msgs for rule theRule
    end
    end
This doesn't compile i've seen an example of it being used like this...
    using terms from application "Mail"
perform mail action with message msgs for rule theRule
    end perform
    end using
this also doesn't compile, so I'm not sure what it's wanting

This is one of those annoying things about programming - you have to arrange and spell things exactly right (this gets worse if you have fat fingers). You can look at the dictionary for Mail to see the specifics - in your example you are missing an "s" at the end of the word "message":
<pre title="this text can be pasted into the Script Editor" style="font-family: Monaco, 'Courier New', Courier, monospace; font-size: 10px; padding: 5px; width: 720px; color: #000000; background-color: #E0E0E0; overflow: auto">tell application "Mail"
perform mail action with messages msgs for rule theRule
    end tell
    </pre>

  • Tiny fonts in non-global zones in JDS

I have installed the u5 image and configured it to run trusted extensions. I have 3 labeled zones and am running the JDS. Everything seems to be working great with one exception. The non-global, labeled zones' JDS workspaces all have tiny fonts, tiny icons, etc. In fact, in the case of the "computer" icon for "This Computer", it is a completely different icon.
When I look at the desktop preferences, they are the same for each of the zones, including the global zone. All of the font sizes, the display size, dpi, etc seem to be the same (gathered from the Desktop Preferences/Fonts tool). I can make the font on the screen appear larger by increasing the size to something fairly big - a 16 point font setting renders like a 10 point font. xdpyinfo output from each of the zones are the same as in the global zone.
I also noticed that the /etc/X11/.xorg.conf file is only in the global zone. For grins, I copied it to each zone but that didn't solve the problem.
    Anyone have any ideas?

    Hi!
    For example: http://wikis.sun.com/display/SAMQFSDocs/New+Features
You can configure QFS at global zone and then delegate some QFS-FS to local-zones over lofs.
    Regards.

  • Message filter replies with wrong template?

I have filters that search the body for a keyword and reply with a template. No matter which template is selected it replies with one template everytime.

Here is the reply I sent to the OP by private mail (while my account was mistakenly blacklisted):
I think the search that worked was with the Quick Filter Bar, which searches downloaded mail. The "Run search on server" setting is in the window that appears when you right-click an IMAP folder, Search Messages (this type of search is similar to the filter dialogue).
But even if you have everything set up properly to search or filter according to body text, I can't explain why each filter replies with the same template. Perhaps you are experiencing this bug: https://bugzilla.mozilla.org/show_bug.cgi?id=533229

  • Tiny Font in PowerPivot Field List

PowerPivot looks like a powerful tool for my users but I can't introduce it to them with such a tiny font in the pivot table field list. I'm using Windows 7, 1920x1200 screen resolution, Excel 2010 (EN-US), and PowerPivot 10.50.1747.0. Raising the magnification
on the document does not affect the field list.
Thanks in advance for your help.
    Cindy Winegarden

The PowerPivot Field List follows Excel font. So while a smaller smaller font is used by default you can increase the size without having to change
the system font size by modifying the Excel font (File | Options | General | Font) .
