Mail reverts to default layout when closing

Whenever I quit Mail while having one or more minimized messages opened, it reverts to the default layout when I open it again. I don't use the bottom pane for viewing messages, rather I open them by double clicking on messages.
Any ideas? I tried trashing the prefs, with no result.
Repro:
1. Open Mail and make sure messages are not opened in the bottom pane of Mail, but rather by double clicking the respective message (message appears in a new window).
2. Add one or more columns to you In mailbox, like Flag, Size, Attachments etc.
3. Double click a Message and minimize it to the dock.
4. Quit Mail
5. Start Mail
results in the default mail layout (Flag column etc. have disappeared).

  • Is there an about:config option to change FF's default action when closing a tab so that it displays the previous tab rather than the next tab?

With the new 3.6 tabbing behaviour (new tabs open to the right of the current tab, rather than at the end of the tab list), the old default behaviour when a tab is closed is no longer appropriate. Instead of displaying the next tab after the one that was closed, FF should display the previous one. Is there an about:config option to change the default behaviour upon closing a tab?

    Try one of these:

  • Why does the string indicator revert to default value when it's not being used?

Can anyone explain to me why one of the two string indicators in the attached VI reverts to it's default value (empty) when the case structure is false?
    Attachments:

String 1 is wired to the connector pane...that's why you're seeing this behavior.  Disconnect String 1 from the connector pane and it will behave just like String 2.  Likewise, connect String 2 to the connector pane and you'll see it get blanked out too.  I'm not really sure why we empty the value when it's wired to the connector pane, but the behavior goes back to LabVIEW 8.0, maybe earlier.

  • Is there any way to change default layouts when making a book?

I'd like to move thing around on the page. Is there any way?
I'd also like to make a whole picture that is in the ratio of 2x3 print that way, but the program crops the ends to fill the space. Is there some way? (If I just add white to the top and bottom of the file will it print some kind of very light white there?

I have noticed this too, i.e. the captured background is BMP, and the capture images are PNG. For example, my command line terminal window backgrounds are 4070.57K versus about 32K to 65K when I convert them to PNG files. Our demonstration files can be enormous because of the BMP backgrounds. It would definitely be advantageous to have a recording setting for PNG versus BMP for the backgrounds in Captivate.

  • Website symbols in "bookmarks" return to default mode when history cleaned

Website symbols in "Bookmarks" revert to default mode when I clean History.  Very irritating!

In Firefox 4 you can press F10 or use "Firefox > Customize" to make the Menu Bar and other toolbars visible and remove the check-mark on "Tabs on Top" to place the tab bar in the old position.
You only see the orange (on Linux gray) Firefox button if the Menu Bar is hidden (View > Toolbars > Customize or right-click a toolbar).
If you need to access the hidden Menu bar then press the Alt key or the F10 key to make the Menu Bar appear temporarily.

In order to better troubleshoot, we need additional information. Can you please advise what E-mail provider you are using? Can you advise where and when this has happened most recently? If the issue persists, please contact us while you are in the area affected, as we would need to determine what network you are accessing at the time, along with additional information. You can feel free to call us from a secondary phone at 800/922-0204 or DM me with a secondary contact number (other than your wireless device) so that we can conduct additional troubleshooting.

  • Who knows how to make Word the default when closing Apple Works documents?

step by step if you don't mind? i've never used Apple Script. is this the solution?
    thanks and Happy New Year

Your question about making Word "the default when closing AW documents" is a bit unclear.
An AppleWorks document is an AppleWorks document. If you want it in Word format, you must explicitly save a copy of it as such (and also append the .doc suffix to the proposed file name).

  • Default Layout for Mail

A friend was on my new iMac (Never Again) - and my Mail app has changed appearance to a list form. I wish to know HOW to get the default layout of the Mail back? I have looked and looked. As a newbie to MAC it is probably right in front of my nose. But I cannot find it. Can you help, please?

Thank you both. I thought it was going to be one of those NEWBIE mistakes that was in front of me. Much appreciated. Now I can go and tell my friend he is BANNED from my new iMac. LOL.

  • Mail accessing the internet all the time and hangs when closing or deleting

Why is it every time I look at my DSL modem when Mail is open there is activity and when I close Mail it stops? It's only set to get the mail every 5 min but it's constantly accessing the internet. The other problem is that it seems to hang when closing and sometimes it takes several mins before it will delete an email that I wanted it to delete. Any ideas? I'm running 10.4.4 with a FRESH install, not an upgrade. I only have .Mac mail accounts so there is no other active accounts that Mail has to access to get mail.
This has only been going on since I upgraded to 10.4+ so I tried to reload the 10.4 several times without any change.
    Thanks, Jason

Okay I used the Activity Monitor to check out mail while it was using the DSL connection. It was using 1.20% CPU and receiving 7 packets/sec. It's memory usage was slowly but steadily climbing until I shut it down. Then all the network activity stopped. As I said before this seems to start after mail has been open but not used for about 20-30 min and doesn't stop until I close mail.
Any ideas. Initially I was worried that there was an exploit in the new mail and someone was using it to access my mac. Is this something worth worrying about or is this a Mail quirk that will be patched later? Anyone else having this issue. I'm not even sure it's a problem but I don't see why Mail would be constantly downloading packets????

  • When clicking on an email address in a website, and Yahoo web mail is the default mail client, the TO address is prepended with the "mailto:" tag, and of course bounces. Why and what to do about it?

In a website, when an email link is clicked, the "mailto:email@address" tag is called, which opens the default mail client.
A friend has Yahoo web mail as his default mail client. When he clicks on such an email link in a website, the TO address appears in the new email form prepended with the "mailto:" tag, as in mailto:[email protected] This of course bounces.
I don't use web mail, so can't help him, but maybe you can provide a reason or a cure for this. Thank you.

  • Keyboard keymap reverted to default (US), ignoring xorg.conf

    Hello there fellow Archers!
My first post on this forum but certainly not the last! I'm a new user of Archlinux, just switched from Xubuntu so bear with me if I seem a bit lost.
Update: I might have posted this in the wrong forum. Wasn't really sure where to post it since my problem is dealing with both unstable and git packages. If so, plesae move it to where it's best suited!
Anyway, this is just one of the few problems that I haven't managed to figure out on my own, yet. I'm a proud owner of a Acer Aspire One, but since not everything is working out-of-box I'm experimenting with git packages that I've been compiling with the help of ABS.
Whenever I start X, the keyboards keymap is reverted back to default (US), even though it seems it does read the xorg.conf, as seen in the log below. Funniest thing is, when I run 'setxkbmap -v 10' this is what I get:
    Setting verbose level to 10
    locale is C
    Applied rules from xorg:
    model: pc105
    layout: se
Trying to build keymap using the following components:
    keycodes: xfree86+aliases(qwerty)
    types: complete
    compat: complete
    symbols: pc+se
    geometry: pc(pc105)
Suddenly the keymap is set correctly, according to what I've specified in xorg.conf.
    Anyone got any ideas?
    Cheers!

I presume you won't jump to testing straight away coming from Ubuntu, so I will move this. If you *are* running testing please state so explicitly in your post so we can set things straight (again ). The testing forum is intended for people using that repository. If you build a package using git or whatever version control or snapshot thingy out there and it is *not* in the testing repository (as in: the exact same version you are using) then it is not a testing problem. That is, after all, why it says [Testing] Repo Forum.
While the fact you use unstable stuff might be related to your problem, it is more probable the shift from Xorg.conf-based device handling to HAL-based device handling with the latest Xorg is the culprit . These are things Ubuntu will obscure easily, to not bother the user (or it might not have the latest Xorg yet alltogether, I don't keep in touch with Ubuntu's packages).
As for the solution, mektub pointed you to it. As for your other problems: consult the wiki and the Acer Aspire One thread in these forums, be sure to read the beginner's guide in the wiki too, so you have some background on how things work in Arch (and how we expect you to use it; the package manager is not the only thing that sets Ubuntu apart from Arch).
Also - I think mektub was relating to your fresh appearance on the forums rather than to your skill level. He can't see that, he can see the date on which you joined .
Have fun, and welcome to Arch .
