Mail Rule to SET OFF ALARM

i am reading up on mac mail rules and see there is an option to make a SOUND.
is there a way to get this to happen on my iPhone?
i have an RSS feed set up in craigslist and i would like to be alerted when an incoming mail with a certain header term comes into my mail account.
TIA

On iPhone mail rules there is none. However, you can change the audio that is played on the iPhone Mail.
Settings / Sounds / Mail
Choose a new sound you want to be played in specific to all messages (or buy new ones) You might be able to import some as well if you can find an application that allows you to install non-ringtone tones.
Note however this doesn't keep you from using your webmail service that is a small charge for SMS alerting to play a specific sound. Review your webmail services to see if they have "Send me a text message" that sends you an SMS each new message.

  • 1 Mail Rule automatically turns off upon launching Mail

I have recently upgraded to Snow Leopard (10.6.4) from Tiger. I moved the "Mail" & "Mail Downloads" folders, as well as the "com.apple.mail.plist" preference file, from the old system into the new one in the appropriate user folder. I also rebuilt all the mailboxes once this was done. So far, everything's there and functioning great with one exception.
The problem I am having is that every time I launch Mail, there is 1 mail rule which is turned off upon launching, forcing me to manually turn it on. It stays on until I quit the program, and the next time I launch it's off again.
I use about 25 rules total, and none of the other rules display this behavior.
Am I missing something obvious here?
    Thanks in advance!

I have exactly the same problem. I have moved from a G5 with Leopard to a Mac Pro with Snow Leopard. I have about 8 rules, one of which turns off after I quit and then launch again. I have tried to recreate that rule manually and it still occurs. I think I'm going to fill out a bug report.

  • Why do Mail rules turn themselves off?

I have a rule set up in Mail (v6.6 (1510), but this issue has happened in previous versions as well) to automatically move emails from mailing lists, etc., out of my inbox and into another folder.
I am using this same account on a variety of devices: my Mac Pro (early '08, extensively modified) workstation, my MacBook Pro, my iPhone, and my iPad.
I will often (sometimes every day or two) notice that the rule is not functioning, and when I go into the Rules preferences pane, I will see that the rule has been disabled (the check box unchecked).
    Why is this happening??
Could it be that there is some conflict with the various different devices using the account? If so, how to do stop that from happening?

    Hey Chris,
i do have exactly the same problem that you are describing. I believe that it showed up suddenly which may be a clue.
I recently exported all my archived mail from Eudora and the rules(Filters) came across as well. I soon decided that the rules moved from Eudora were not useful so I eliminated them. Then I set about creating two or three dozen new Rules using the Mail application. All of these rules were working a few days ago. When I looked at the Rules panel, all of my new rules had check boxes checked.
Today, I discovered that only 2 or 3 still had the check boxes checked, The remainder of my new rules were no longer checked.
In general, all of my rules look to see the email address from whom the email came and routes the incoming email immediately into the mailbox corresponding to that person. That is the way that I previously used Eudora and hoped to make Mail work for me approximately the same way.
So, I've been poking around all the visible menu items in Mail trying to find one which would suggest that it turns off the Rules.
My previous operating system was 10.6.8 and I jumped all the way to Mavericks at the same time that I abandoned the use of Eudora. I have no experience using Mail in Lion or Mountain Lion so I don't know if Mavericks is causing Mail to work more poorly now than it might have in Lion or Mountain Lion.
    Regards,

  • How do I activate a mobile phone when say a level in lookout goes high and sets off alarm.

I require to alert a user to an alarm condition both by web and mobile phone. I am not using a network just standalone PC

If you're using a standalone PC, then you can send SMS messages to cell phones using the ASCII Object when an alarm occurs. You'll connect a modem to your Lookout PC and use the ASCII Object.
You'll need to implement the SMS protocol in the ASCII Object.
I am not sure how you can update a web page from a stanalone PC tho'.
    Hope this helps!

  • My Mail rules keep "breaking"

I'm using Mail on OS X 10.4.10, with the Mail Act-On plugin installed. (This lets me trigger specific rules with key shortcuts.) I have 4 IMAP accounts in Mail, one of which is .Mac. The others are on my own server, provided by a hosting service.
I have set up several rules to automate moving messages from one folder to another. But each time I start Mail, it changes several of the rules, so they don't point to the mailboxes I want. Rather than pointing to the mailboxes under the "Inbox" at the top of the list, some of them point instead to IMAP boxes at the bottom of the list (featuring a grey globe with the @ symbol). The problem seems only affect the accounts that are on my IMAP server, not the .Mac account. Other rules that don't point to mailboxes in the Inbox don't have this problem. Any ideas about what could be causing this?
    Thanks,
    Jack

I had Mountain Lion on two Macs. Mail rules were set up on a third Mac running Lion.  I migrated everything on the Lion Mac across to a new iMac running Mountain Lion so now I have Mail rules on a Mountain Lion Mac.  At least I should have. Several times a day the rules disappear.  I assume this is iCloud synching messing up.  I keep re-entring the rules but they vanish again and I'm getting tired of the game.
Large chunk of my Safari bookmarks bar also disappear at random intervals.  It seems that iCloud can handle two Mountain Lion Macs on the same Apple ID, but can't cope with three.

  • How to u set your alarm clock but not have the phone or txt go off

Hi, My old phone Blackberry had an alarm. I would set it and then shut the phone off. The phone would turn itself on when the alarm had to go off.
IPone 4 will not do that. So, how do I set the alarm and not have the phone ring or get text alerts. I cannot figure out how to do this.
How do you delete pictures that are not on the camera roll there is a garbage can for those but not for other picture. I have double from synching too many times, this is my first Apple and I am not finding it easy to use.
    Thank you

You can select whether or not it will vibrate when the mute switch is engaged. Settings>Sounds>Silent. Turn Vibrate on or off.

  • Why do the iPhone 4 set off store alarms?

Why do the iPhone 4 set off store alarms?

It is not the iPhone that is the problem. It is the store's equipment. Since I have gotten my iPhone, I must have walked through 100+ different stores and never set off an alarm.

  • Setting up mail rules on icloud

I have just migrated from mobileme to icloud - a scary exercise which seems to require quite a lot of tidying up.  Here are some questions relating to using mail.
This is what I would like to happen:
    1.  When I read a message for the first time - whether on my Mac, iPad or iPhone, I want it to be moved to a number of mailboxes I have set up (or to trash).
    2.  When I read the same message later on one of the two other devices, I would like to see it mark as read and filed in the appropriate mailbox
    3.  When I send a message or reply (on any of the three devices) I would like my message to be moved to an appropriate mailbox, rather than remain in Sent.
    4.  When I set up a mail rule on iCloud I would like the same versatility as on my current Mac mail rules, with interaction between the rule and the address book, ability to have boolean rules with lots of either/or/and components.  For example, on my Mac I have a rule moving all messages from anyone in my Family group in the Address book to a mailbox called 'family'.  I have a rule which says if the subject contains x and if the sender is y then move the message to mailbox z. I have another invaluable rule which moves any message from a sender not in my Address book to trash.  Once a day I skim through trash to pick up any messages which should not be there and then can empty the remainder with one click.
    So--
1-3  Am I right in saying these can be done?  (I'm not sure whether the To: rule works - if it does, that is an improvement over the Mac mail rules).
    4.  The mail rules on iCloud seem incredibly limited compared with those on Mac Mail.  Am I missing something?  How for example do I set up the three examples I have given?  (A related question - can Trash be moved to iCloud and how does it get emptied.)
Sorry for this collection of questions.  What I wanted from iCloud was that I can continue to manage my email in boxes and trash, as at present, and that when I am away from base and my iMac, I see all my past correspondence for the year, and that I dont have to housekeep mail three times on the three devices.  I do hope this will be possible and appreciate anyone pointing me towards tips/answers to my requirements.

Yeh thats where they make the big bucks.... we have managed up until not to share apps, either a 2nd account or my wife just goes without the cloud
I'm still confused as to how i can setup my [email protected], can i have both the iPad & iPhone on the same @me.com email address. Dis regarding the 2nd phone at the moment. presume i had [email protected] on both ipad & iphone i should receive emails at both devices

  • Help setting up mail rules

I have an iMac (main computer for storing emails/set to remove Mail from server when read) and a MacBookAir (set to leave messages on server/used for checking and sending emails out of the office). I was Bcc'ing to myself messages sent from the MacBookAir, so that when I get mail from my iMac, my mail rules sort the message into various project folders etc.
The problem is I quite often forget to Bcc myself.
Can anyone tell me if & how to set up a mail rule on the MacBookAir that will automatically resend me any messages in my sent box. Iv'e set up a Rule to 'if Date sent less than 7 days, redirect mail to XYZ'. I tried applying Rules to the Sent folder but nothing happens. If there is a better/automatic way to get rules applied to Sent messages, please also let me know!

  • Do sounds in Mail Rules override the General sound setting?

In Mail v.7.3 (1878.6) if I apply a sound for a rule in Preferences/Rules using "Perform the following action: Play sound" will that sound override the sound chosen in Preferences/General/ "New messages sound"? Thank you for your help.

Not certain, but this can fix myriad Mail problems...
Safe Boot from the HD, (holding Shift key down at bootup), it will try to repair your Disk Directory while the spinning radian is happening, so let it go, run Disk Utility in Applications>Utilities, then highlight your drive, click on Repair Permissions, then move these folder & file to the Desktop.
Move this Folder to the Desktop...
    /Users/YourUserName/Library/Caches/Mail/
Move this file to the Desktop...
    /Users/YourUserName/Library/Mail/Envelope Index
    Reboot.
If that doesn't help & you can afford to redo any Mail Rules...
    Trash these files...
    /Users/YourUserName/Library/Mail/... MessageRules.plist and MessageRules.plist.backup
Also, Is there a sound icon which I could put in the dock at the bottom of the computer? Where can I find a sound icon, and how do I move it to the dock?
Not sure what you mean, but you can have Sound sort of in the top Menu bar... System Preferences>Sound> check the box that says Show Volume in Menu bar.

  • Anyone else having to re-do Mail Rules after MobileMe updates?

Hi, everyone. After making the MobileMe updates, my mail wasn't being filtered to the right folders. I saw that I had to reset the rules and was wondering if anyone else experienced the same issues? There was a 2nd update that happened yesterday, and I had to go through the same process of re-directing my Mail Rules again this morning. I was able to fix things manually, but does anyone know of a way where we don't have to keep resetting our Mail Rules after future MobileMe updates? Thanks!

which LTE app do you use?  does this work for you and your connectivity issues?
i have the LTE OnOff app and it only allows switching between 3G and 4G which doesnt help with when the phone is stuck on 1x and im on a 'CDMA auto' setting, for example...  switching to allow LTE doesn't change the connectivity to 4G, let alone 3G for that matter, when im only getting 1x in a 3G or 4G area...  only a manual restart works...  oh well
    EDIT
actually, i can switch between all 3 options!  sorry!  will try this instead of a manual restart
I was using LTE on off but I have switched to Network both do the same thing and take you to the Phone Info menu that where you to change your preferred network type. I just like that Network has a cleaner looking icon and doesn't pop up instructions.
The CDMA auto setting is 1X so if that's what you have it set to you are only going to get 1X. The setting I use when I don't want to worry about losing connection is CDMA auto (PRL) and that will keep it on 3G unless 3G is unavailable. Sometime when I'm set to CDMA +LTE/EvDo auto I have problems with my phone hanging up on a poor or none existent 4G signal and wont switch to 3G that's when I will switch to CDMA auto (PRL) to get off the failing 4G signal. It usually takes a 10 seconds for the 3G to pop up. This is my experience with the Thunderbolt I know a lot of people are having different experiences and have their different trick but I find this works most of the time. Good luck

  • I set an alarm with Siri. Can she only set one at a time, and how can I see/cancel it?

Title. I set an alarm, then shortly after asked her to set another alarm.
    1) are both alarms in effect?
    2) where can I see/cancel them? It says it can't modify or delete them.

Go to the Clock app and see if they are listed.  I just set two via Siri on my iPad and both are listed. I can turn them off or deleted (via edit button) the alarms.
