Mail rules and Iphone

Hi, I use Mail on my Mac with rules set up to automatically sort my messages into folders as they arrive. Problem is that once a message is moved into a folder, it never arrives onto my phone. I can see messages that aren't set up to move from my top level Inbox, but not those moved due to rules. Is there any way i can use the rules and still have the messages on my Iphone? Right now my only solution seems to be to quit mail each time I walk away from my desktop but sometimes I forget.
thanks!

On your iPhone mail with rules will go to your "All Mail" folder while Mail.app is running. When mail.app is closed they will all go to your inbox.
Are you using gmail with IMAP? If you are then you can mirror the rules you have set up on your mac to be identical in the gmail server. I believe this will make your iPhone look like your mac does with the "labels" becoming folders. I have not tested that, so try it and see if it works.

  • Mail rules and iCloud

Is there a way of copying mail rules in one mac to keep them alive on my macs after iCloud?
    I would appreciate any help,
    Thanks!

I'm using the same Apple ID for both accounts to allow syncing.
I use QUICKEN to track finances.  The main reasons I set up two users is to separate fishing club finances from my personal finances and to separate documents.  At this point I have decided to combine the two accounts; sort documents; and open separate QUICKEN accounts as needed.  I do think that Apple Mail needs attention to correct inconsistencies such as the one I pointed out.
    Thank you for your Comments

  • Deleted mail rules and they are still being applied

I created a few mail rules to change the colour of certain emails from different senders. I then deleted the rules and the emails are still colour coded differently and I can't seem to reset it.
Anyone run into this before on 10.6.2?

    Hi,
Try restarting your Mac. If that doesn't help...
Go to the Mail Menu Bar, click Mail/Preferences. Make note of all the preferences under each tab.
    Quit Mac Mail.
Go to ~/Library/Preferences and move this file com.apple.mail.plist to the Desktop.
    Relaunch Mail.

  • Using .mac with mail.app and iphone...problems with mailbox folders i think

Is it normal in mail.app for my folders to be as follows: Under the heading Mailboxes, I have Inbox folder and Sent folder and trash folder. Then, instead of a junk folder under that, it is below all of that under the heading Chris's Email (obviously my account). Why is this?

Who is your ISP used for connecting to the internet?
Are you also accessing an email account and SMTP server that is provided by your ISP with the Mail.app and if so, are you able to send messages with your ISP's email account?
Most if not all ISPs used for connecting to the internet now block the use of SMTP servers that are outside of their network (or not provided by the ISP) on Port 25 which is the default port for SMTP servers.
Some ISPs allow the use of an authenticated SMTP server only (such as the .Mac SMTP server) on Port 25 but some block its use regardless.
These restructions are in place as part of an overall effort to prevent spam emanating from the ISP's domain.
    First thing to try.
Go to Mail > Preferences > Accounts and under the Account Information tab for your .Mac account preferences at the SMTP server selection, select the Server Settings button below the the .Mac SMTP server.
Enter 587 in place of 25 in the Server Port field and when finished, select OK to save the changed setting.
If this doesn't work, you need to contact your ISP. If you are accessing an email account and SMTP server that is provided by your ISP used for connecting to the internet with the Mail.app, in the interim select/use your ISP's SMTP server to send messages with your .Mac account which is invisible to all recipients.

  • Mail notes and iphone notes

Not sure if anyone else has noticed this. Since installing snow leopard I've found that when my iphone synchs with my mac the notes on the iphone, which with leopard were put into mail's notes folder, now also appear in the inbox. If you delete them there they also disappear from the notes folder. Then if you synch again with the iphone, they're deleted there too, forcing you to retrieve them from backup files. (Which for various reasons is quite a complicated process)
Notes created within mail on the mac also now appear in the inbox in the same way.
You can stop the iphone synching notes by removing the check mark from the relevant pane when the iphone is connected, but there doesn't seem to be any way to turn this feature off. Does anyone know of one? I've asked in an apple shop and they think this is a new feature of snow leopard (ie not a bug).
I use the notes app on my iphone a lot for reminders, shopping lists, ideas and so on, and it's sometimes useful to be able to transfer text to my mac via synching notes, but I can no longer do this without the notes cluttering up my inbox. It's a trivial problem but quite annoying.

Since my post I've been reading others' posts on the subject (which I probably should have done first) and discovered the solution. You can switch off the feature through mail preferences>accounts>mailbox behaviors, where you de-check the 'show notes in inbox'. I've also discovered this feature exists in leopard, but am guessing it was off by default in that, and on by default in snow leopard, which is probably why so many people only noticed it after installing snow leopard, as I did.

  • Mail Rules and Forwarding

I use Mail on my iMac to receive mail from a number of accounts - POP3. On one account I have a Rule set up which forwards received mail to a web mail account. The account Inbox in Mail shows the incoming message and it can be opened. It then shows an arrow next to the message. Clicking on this does not state that the message has been forwarded. Instead it gives an error message "Mail was unable to find your response ....." Why is this and can it be fixed?

It looks as though I have maybe solved the problem.  I just kept forwarding each one to aol_phish abuse, one after the other.  It took about an hour a day just to do this.  For four days.  I was half expecting to be reprimanded by aol.  I was not.  And this morning I got up and instead of 16 or so, there were three.  That was hours ago and no more have appeared.

  • Yahoo Mail Plus and iPhone (UK)

    Hi
I recently bought a macbook pro and apple mail wont work with yahoo free mail, I understand it will work with mail plus. Does anyone know if mail plus will be ok on my iPhone before I pay to upgrade?
    Thanks
    Matt.

There's a setting in your "Mail" settings that says "show To:cc label". I have that turned ON.
Now, when I go to an email, and reply to it, I can just Tap the "cc/bcc/from" field with my finger, and it suddenly expands the cc, bcc, and from fields onto their own lines.
The "from" field is now editable.
Touch it, and you get a nice list selection to send 'from' any of your configured email accounts.
    Does that work for you?

  • Mail Rules and tracking the filtering

In Mail, you set up "rules" to filter incoming messages, but I can't find any way to see what the rules actually do, ie: how many messages were filtered into what mailbox? (Has anyone used Eudora before?)
    Any ideas??

When you setup Rules in Mail, it doesn't tell you how many messages were moved to a particular mailbox or folder. Part of creating the rule is deciding where you want these sorted messages to go, and creating the folder you need for that to happen. Then, if a message is sorted and moved by these rules, the total number of unread messages should be displayed for each mailbox or folder.
Apple has already setup some rules in Mail for you; you should look at those if you haven't already to get an idea of what you can do.
    Hope this helps,
    Mulder

  • Exchange e-mail issues and iPhone 4s

  • Mail Rule to SET OFF ALARM

i am reading up on mac mail rules and see there is an option to make a SOUND.
is there a way to get this to happen on my iPhone?
i have an RSS feed set up in craigslist and i would like to be alerted when an incoming mail with a certain header term comes into my mail account.
    TIA

On iPhone mail rules there is none. However, you can change the audio that is played on the iPhone Mail.
    Settings / Sounds / Mail
Choose a new sound you want to be played in specific to all messages (or buy new ones) You might be able to import some as well if you can find an application that allows you to install non-ringtone tones.
Note however this doesn't keep you from using your webmail service that is a small charge for SMS alerting to play a specific sound. Review your webmail services to see if they have "Send me a text message" that sends you an SMS each new message.

  • Mail confirmation in iPhone

I've configured one exchange account on my iphone, being the secretary in a private office, and used to BCC emails I send out of my boss's account to the one I configured on iphone for a reason.
But whenever I request a read receipt upon composing emails, and read that message in the other account on my iPhone, the Mail software in iPhone does automatically confirm back reading the message without my interaction or knowledge.
Now the boss has known that the message was being BCCed to that account cause he received in his inbox an email saying:
This email ID "bla bla" has successfully read your message at this time "bla bla"
I know he can see this in his sent items, but isn't the "Auto confirmation" from the Mail software a significant security hack?
Hope Apple does something regarding this.

    Welcome to the Apple community.
Put in a request for another verification e-mail to be sent to you.
Start here, change your country if necessary and go to manage your account.
Also check your Mail rules and filtering, the verification mail may be going to a junk folder or even being deleted altogether.

  • Why does iCloud not sync mail rules?

This seems like a no brainer. When I view my email on my Iphone, I see all my Spam, which would already be dispatched to the Junk box on my desktop, had I looked there first. Why does iCloud not sync my Mail rules, and is there a solution for this?

It is not Mac to Mac.
Why not look up iCloud support, it was never offered as anything outside iOS 5 supported devices.
Maybe if you would stop reading into things what isn't there.

  • Cannot sync mail rules

I have an iPhone 3G and use mobile me. The phone and my mac are all up to date. Everything syncs fine with my mac, contacts, mail, calender. The only thing that will not sync are some mails rules, even when the "sync mail rules, signatures" box is checked in the mobile my preferences. Anybody having a similar problem or know a solution?
    Thanks,
    Chris.

The sync mail rules, signatures is for keeping mail rules and signatures synchronized with the Mail.app on multiple Macs.
This does not apply to the iPhone and the iPhone's mail client which does not support rules.

  • Synchronizing rules and signatures in an IMAP account?

    Hi,
I have several rules in Mail that control where emails from certain people are stored. How do I apply these rules to my IMAP account so that when I login through my browser based webmail interface, I see an identical file structure?
Also, how do I use signatures if I'm not checking email through Mail. Is this possible?
    Thank you!

neither of these is possible. Mail rules and signatures are stored locally and are only usable in Mail.app.
