Mail rules, edit header list and search full content?

I'm deserately trying to filter my emails.
within the raw source of my emails I want to filter the emails that contain file:/// this is in the body of the email or the html part.
Under
Preferences > Rules > in the drop down menu edit header list, but what should I use to make it search this deep in the mail?
This is an example of the email, and highlighted in BOLD is the area I wish to filter out into a separate email

You need to copy the XSL files from
/usr/share/wikid/lib/apple_templates
to
/Library/Application Support /Apple/WikiServer/Themes/custom theme
and then modify default.xsl in your theme folder.

[Mail] change RSS header font and color

Hi.
I use Mail.app to read RSS and have some troubles with it. Let me show how does it looks like:
As you can see, RSS header at Mail.app use very large fonts for RSS title and entry, some about half of the header is the date. Hmmm. This is wrong. And I want to change this UI behaviour, but Mail.app doesn't contain settings for this option.
So, I looked Raw Source of RSS at Mail and saw some additional information about RSS and Mail:

Before starting to complain, I have to admit that Mail.app made me switch from other rss and mail applications. It works well and I like having rss and mail in one program.
But I totaly agree with you, I found this post by trying to find a fix for this ugly header. Also it's a mistery to me why the source name is the main title and the subject is the smaller sub title...
And while I'm at it, just one more thing, this rss header or at least the title should be a link. So that if you want to open the selected post in your browser, you don't have to scroll down to the "read more" link.

Mail 5.0 mailbox list and message list 1 and 2

my mail had three columns ; mailbox list, message list and then individual message. the individual message disappeared and i don't see anyway of getting that column back! now i have to double click a message to see its content whereas before i could see the content before just by selecting it. how do i get that column back?

Mail Rules have stopped working and I can't restart them.

Generically it looks like Mail is trying to bind and listen on port 8089 but that something is already bound and listening on that port. This could be a zombie process or something that appears to be listening when it actually isn't or a conflict raised by some other process being bound to the port first before Mail tries to bind.
Has this survived an actual restart? A restart with Mail not running and then started after restart? It's possible for a port to be bound by a process and remain bound when if that process exits unexpectedly and then interfere with the same process rebinding to the same port. This can also come in form or a file that signifies a process being bound to a port and deleting the file while the service is off can free up that port.
Also there is are groups specifically for OS X Server 10.6 and 10.5 (whichever you are using) that would probably be more appropriate for your post since this isn't an Xserve or Server problem specifically. You may get more eyes associated with Mail conflicts over there.

IMAP message list and search missing messages

I access an IMAP server from my MacBook and iPad. When I look in folders on the server other than the inbox, the MacBook shows all the messages but the iPad is missing many. When I compare the two, the iPad has all, one-for-one, for the past four days or so. Before that, the list on the iPad is spotty. I have touched the update and download more messages buttons.
Searching on the iPad also misses messages, but different ones. I can search on the iPad for messages I see on the Mac, and sometimes find them, although they don't show up in the message list (for example, the message from about five days ago, immediately before the last message which shows up consistently on both the Mac and iPad). In other cases, I can do a search on the Mac and iPad, and the Mac will show more hits from the search than the iPad.
So, mail on the iPad, at least with an IMAP server, is unreliable. Is this well-known? Will this improve on iOS 4.2?

I did an experiment with the IMAP server I have which stores the mail in mbox format in the home directory of the Linux server I have a login to. I can drag messages in any order I want from the inbox to a folder, and can verify that in the mbox file, they are stored in the order I dragged them in. Yes, those messages are shown in the iPad message list in chronological order, regardless of the order I dragged them into the folder.
But, earlier messages are not shown in the iPad message list in the order they are in the mbox file or chronological order. Well, they are in chronological order, but with big time gaps. For example, the iPad shows a message from April 6 followed by April 1. But, I can see on my Mac that I have many messages between April 1 and 6. They do not appear on the iPad.
Ah, I think I see something. Some of the messages in this mailbox are log files with timestamps at the beginning of the line. The iPad mail program appears to be taking the time from the first line in the body of the message rather than the timestamp in the mail message envelope.
No, it just got stranger. I selected another mailbox, and then went back to the mailbox with the log files I was looking at before and the order of messages has changed! Now there are messages from May where there were messages from April. Still might be the timestamps in the body of the message because those are the first messages shown in the list after the last non-log-file messages.
Now there are messages missing between April 30 and May 4, where I can see that the messages exist by looking in the Mac mail program. I can see that all the missing messages on the iPad are the ones for which the body starts with a timestamp.
Perhaps the iPad has trouble with an IMAP server using mbox format.
Another complication in my case is that the messages in the mbox file are not stored in the order they were received. I suspect this is because I copied them there, using Apple Mail, from previously being stored on my Mac. That is, I had all my mail On My Mac, and then selected all the messages in the folder and dragged them to the IMAP server folder. That put them into the mbox file in an unusual order. But, on the Mac, they show chronologically, regardless of the order stored in the file.
The iPad also does this, for recent messages (which don't contain those log files with timestamps), but the timestamps in the body of the message may be confusing it.

Help with linked lists and searching

Hi guys I'm very new to java. I'm having a problem with linked lists. the program's driver needs to create game objects, store them, be able to search the linked list etc. etc. I've read the API but I am really having trouble understanding it.
First problem is that when I make a new game object through the menu when running the program, and then print the entire schedule all the objects print out the same as the latest game object created
Second problem is searching it. I just really have no idea.

Mail rules question on subject and sender fields are empty

I am getting blank messages delivered to my mailbox and the subject and or sender's name are empty, how do I set up a rule to just delete them?

You know, the messages might not actually be blank. I've been steadily getting more and more coming in blank what when I view the source, the messages is there but Mail isn't displaying it. I'm still trying to find some fix for this, but thought you might like to know before you delete them all.

Dynamic lists and Searches

more than likely im being a bit simple about this but im
pretty new to asp/sql so please forgive me!
Im making a search page for the database im working on which
is fine if i want to search single fields or two fields but where
im stuck is if i want to search accross all fields but be able to
leave some blank, ie search by author and company but not project
name. At the momment i have to select something from each.
The other problem i have is that im using dynamic lists to
populate the search fields (a couple of the fields have about 300
items in them) but when i come to view it everythings ok except it
displays the last item in the list. How would i go about making it
so that it displays blank or "please Select" as the default?
hope someone can help and thanks in advance! My code for one
of the simple pages is below but i need to apply the same
principles to much bigger projects.

That doesnt work, it just inserts it into the list (if static
then at the top) or dynamic then at the correct alphabetical place,
either way the default value is set at the last entry in the list
ie one beginning with z

Rules are not applied - though I confirm they should.

After re-creating all of the 30 some rules I used in Snow Leopard in Mail in Lion, I discovered that many of them were not working properly.
The rules that specified relatively simple criteria to match, such as specific strings to search for in the From, To, Subject fields, were working OK.
The rules that weren't working properly were the ones for Apple Developer mailing lists, in which I look for a string value in the custom List-Id header. For example, if the List-Id of the email contains cocoa-dev.lists.apple.comcocoa-dev.lists.apple.com, move it to such-and-such a mailbox. I noticed after I added the custom header field to the list of rule headers (by using the Edit Header List… command), that List-Id was sometimes changed to just plain List. After quitting mail and looking at the saved version of Mail's rules (in the file /Users/<username>/Library/Mail/V2/MailData/MessageRules.plist), I found that Mail was saving the rules as List rather than the proper custom header of List-Id. As a result, the rules appeared not to work because, obviously, there was no List header value. After editing the MessageRules.plist manually with Property List Editor, and replacing List with List-Id, all of the rules started working properly.
Just wondering what types of rules you guys had and whether it might be the same inability to save headers with a - in them.

How do I apply a Mail rule to only a certain mailbox?

I want to put certain messages into a mailbox and have them "expire" (be deleted) in 30 days.
For example, I want to put all my "email receipts" in a folder after I complete the transaction and have Mail automatically delete them after 30 days. That way, if I ever need them (for returns or whatever [which I would do in 30 days]) I have them, but after a point (when I don't need them) Mail would delete them for me.
As a side note, is it possible to create a rule that meets ALL of some criteria and ANY of other criteria?

How do I set a mail rule to select msgs on which i am BCCd?

Went to set up a rule for a particular address as 'Any Recipient' but this does not work if the sent mail had me in the BCC list. How do I filter on this?

Add(Copy)/Change/Delete in editable ALV list

I want to add a column to my ALV list where the user can enter an 'A' to Copy, 'C' to Change or 'D' to Delete. If the user enters an 'A', the code needs to insert a new line into the ALV list. After the user makes the changes on the screen and selects Save, I need the program to perform different functions depending on whether the user entered an 'A', 'C' or 'D' in the column. I have never used an editable ALV list and would like to have some sample code to get started. Does anyone have any code similar to what I am trying to do?

VS2013 Csutom List and Field issue

Hi Folks,
I have a VS2013 project for SharePoint 2013. In this project I have a custom list with several general columns in it (name, address, telephone number). I have also created a custom Field that has its own user control.
If I deploy the solution I can then edit the list and add the custom field to the default view within SharePoint.
What I would like to do is add this custom field to the list definition within Visual Studio. However, I cannot find out how to do this. If I double click on the list in visual studio, choose columns, how do I add the custom field (lets assume
it is called bob).

According to your description, my understanding is that you want to add custom field in a custom list definition in Visual Studio.
Can you find the field in the columns of schema.xml ?

Unable to sync Mail rules

I have activated the .Mac "sync Mail Rules, Signatures and Smart Mailboxes".
But the Mail rules on my home and office Mac are not synced by iSync.
Everything else is synced fine (iCal etc.) Any suggestions ?

Welcome to Apple Discussions.
With the release of iSync 2 and Mac OS X 10.4, iSync no longer has anything at all to do with synchronizing .Mac data types like Mail Rules, Signatures and Smart Mailboxes. Actually, it never did have anything to do with those data types, because they were not available before the release of Mac OS X 10.4 almost a year ago.
