Mail search does not hold results

Since ios8 update, when I search in mail, I get a list of the results I am looking for until it finishes looking. The displayed results then revert back to the list of all emails as they came in and the search results are gone.
Search for "Julie"
Shows all the emails from "Julie"
After 15 secs or so (when the search has finished), the sorted list is gone and it shows all emails received and list is greyed out.
iphone 6

IMAP account
no rules or folders active

Using latest software, have had every iPhone since the first one so I know how to search, etc. also, bookmarks don't save on the iPad.

Today, my email search for the Apple Mail appli does not function. I have mail in my boxes, but when I try to search the contents, the results are "0" -- for any type of search in any box.

Hi Jon,
I think Spotlight or it's index is messed up, might try adding your drive to Spotlight Pref Pane's Privacy tab, then wait a bit then remove the drive from there & give Spotlight a chance to rebuild the Index.
Might even have to use Spotless...

Mail search does not allow by to, from, subject anymore. Is this the way to improve a product?

The new iOS7 brought a lot of cool features, but one of them was not so cool. THe mail search options in iOS7 were dramatically reduced. Now, thre is no more option to search by to, From and Subject. It probably searches everything, but if the sender has an actual address that is different from his name, there you go again, and you will not find it.
I would appreciate if someone would just bring back the old and good ways to search for messages in Mail for iOS7.

Google search does not produce results but goes to an 'untitled document' blank page

Computer just automatically updated Firefox and now when I search in google no results are produced when I hit enter or click on search. Instead it just produces a black page with the label 'untitled document'.

Spontaneously fixed itself. Now seems fine - but I didn't do anything to fix it.

I am using FF 17.0. This just started recently.
When I go to Google and enter a search word and hit "enter" the results page loads with just the top header and a blank screen otherwise. I need to hit the RELOAD button in the address bar for everything to complete with results..
Then, after scrolling thru the results to the bottom of the page and hitting ENTER to go to the next page, again the same thing happens. I need to hit the RELOAD button again for more results.
This happens for every search I do when using FireFox.
It works perfectly fine in IE. I hate IE.
Any help would be greatly appreciated.

Is is best not to use extensions like Fasterfox that change network.http settings. 
You should leave them at the default as changing them can cause problems with some servers.
You can check the network.http.* prefs on the about:config page. 
Reset network.http prefs to the default value via the right-click context menu -> Reset if they are user set (bold).

Do a malware check with some malware scanning programs on the Windows computer. 
You need to scan with all programs because each program detects different malware. 
Make sure that you update each program to get the latest version of their databases before doing a scan.

My macbook pro with OS 10.6.7 'mail' program does not send my mail through the IPS wireless, I am connected to. The message is my 'e-mail is rejected by the server'. It has been working until 5 days ago. The connection doctor says I am connected and no log in required.
After trying lots I found now in 'Airport Utility is 'unable to detect any airport wireless devises.....'
There is no provider to be seen in airport utility and only 'rescan' is an option with no results...
even so I am connected and can browse the net receive mail etc. and the outgoing 'mail server' is set to the internet provider I am connected to.
Can you enlighten me what can I do I need to use my e-mail program urgently !!!

I'm not sure what "IPS wireless" is, but unless you have an Apple Wi-Fi base station (such as a Time Capsule, AirPort Extreme, or AirPort Express), AirPort Utility won't see anything.
You might try defining a new SMTP server to see if that will work any better.
By the way, the subject field for these messages isn't intended to hold a lot of text. Put a short description of your problem in the subject field and save the rest of your message for the body field.

Launch the Console application in any of the following ways:

There is an option of embedding index for faster search while converting email to a PDF .
However I am not sure that will serve your purpose or not .
I would recommend you to get in touch with Microsoft support as well .
Meanwhile I'll work on it and get back to you in case I get a desired solution .

Plug your phone into the wall charger for at least 30 minutes...make sure you have a sim card in the phone...then:
Leave the USB cable connected to your computer, but NOT your phone, iTunes running, press & hold the home button while connecting the USB cable to your dock connector, continue holding the home button until you see “Connect to iTunes” on the screen. You may now release the home button. iTunes should now display that it has detected your phone in recovery mode, if not quit and reopen iTunes. If you still don’t see the recovery message repeat these steps again. iTunes will give you the option to restore from a backup or set up as new.
Make sure you have no anti-virus software running or any firewalls...turn all of that stuff off.

Content scope document library does not return result for non farm administrator

I have a situation where I had to go with a unique permission applied subsite to store 1000 documents in the document library. This site has a set of 50 users. I was able to create content scope and library path for search. It returns results for me(creator/owner/administrator)
however if I add other users as contributor or full permission, even after full crawling it does not return result for others.
I saw some article that security broken site wont be indexed normal way and to include and I did that as well but no result for other users. I always get result.
Please suggest if there are any specific security permissions that I need to include, so the document library target search will return result for others.

Hi Shri,
For administrator search results, it looks like the documents could be crawled and searched.
For other users you grant full control permission on subsite with unique permission where you store 1000 dcouments in document library, please make sure these 50 users have access permission(at least view permission) on documents from the
library, then test again.
Also test if users search on search center site without search scope, see if it's scope issue or search web part issue.
If above doesn't work, please check ULS log for related useful information around the time when users search the documents, there should be more info to verify if issue is related to unique permision.

Mail search don't return results in chronological order

This change completely voids my ability to find an email using my IPad. I need to be able to sort by newest to oldest. Lots of threads on this it just needs to be fixed! Good thing I still have my Android phone.

Apple Mail STILL does NOT sync with GMAIL...even with Mavericks 10.9.2...why?

Apple MAIL still does not sync well with Gmail.
I have to close Apple Mail program down, re-load it, select "synchonize all accounts." Then MAYBE it will finally sync up. If not, I do this again and again. Then, randonmly it seems, it finally syncs.
My iOS devices sync instantly and accurately 100% of the time. When I pull down the inbox to update, it does so almost at once. Accurately.
WHY does Mavericks APPLE MAIL have so many issues STILL!? Worked fine before Mavericks? Is there a solution?

I'm not sure if you were seriously asking or just looking for a place to vent, but I've read a lot about this topic and so I'll give a brief reply.
Unfortunately, I've not seen a solution to this problem. Many people have had success with various "voodoo" solutions (re-starting or some variant) but there's really been no reliable, consistent answer to this problem. Most people seem to think that syncing was improved (but was not completely fixed) with the 10.9.2 update. The only "solution" I've seen is to move off of GMail.
As to WHY this is happening, well, again I've not seen anybody diagnose the problem in any scientific way, but the consensus seems to be that this problem started because Apple modified the way the Mail program stored and indexed a GMail account. Many people (including you) say "it worked fine before" and yes perhaps it did, but there was a big problem lurking.
As you might know, Google moved off the mail standard when they created their mail system. Now, this is a rant for another post, but IMO by doing that they should have provided code for 3rd-party mail clients to use their new mail system properly. But of course that would defeat any competitive advantage their own client had, so instead all they did was support an IMAP interface.
The problem is that when an email arrives at your GMail account, it is in your Inbox and also in the "All Mail" folder. This is not in concert with IMAP protocol where a message is only in one folder. So a naive IMAP email client downloads such a message twice. If a message happens to be in a several folders (tags in GMail-speak), an IMAP client downloads it several times. It might have looked like it was "working fine" to you, but for people who have many gigabytes of mail, this duplication is a big problem.
Likewise, if you search for an email, an unaware IMAP client will find it in multiple folders, and report back each copy. Anyway, you get the idea. Apple tried to improve their Mail client to support this, and unfortunately they have a big bug. Well, I say "big" because it really annoys me. Apparently it must be not be affecting a large percentage of Mavericks users or else they would have fixed it by now. Even more annoying, there's no "switch" to get Mail to act like a dumb IMAP client again. It appears to detect that it is talking to GMail and this new system kicks in automatically. (Perhaps this could be tricked by using some kind of proxy?)
So why is this not happening on iOS? Well, again, nobody knows for sure (and Apple isn't saying), but the theory is that they didn't implement this complex scheme on iOS (yet). Maybe they were first testing it out on Mavericks, or perhaps they didn't think it was worth the trouble because on iOS the Mail caches are typically much smaller. On a desktop machine, usually there is a copy of all your IMAP mail sitting on the disk. On a mobile device, only a few messages are kept around at any time.

CQWP does not return result for a specific query when filtering on a managed metadata field.
ULS log:
The Uls logs provides 3 different messages that I could relate to every time the query is executed. The last item(level Medium) is displayed 14 times. For readability I've moved the ULS logs to the bottom of this question.

When I modify the query settings to search a specific library the CWQP also does return the correct document! (In this case I am filtering on a managed metadata field).

I recently upgraded my IMac to Lion and have found that my mail account does not include a "mail trash" category similar to "mail sent", making it difficult to retrieve mails I might have sent to trash but find I need some information from. Suggestions?

I recently upgraded my IMac to Lion and have found that my mail account does not include a "mail trash" category similar to "mail sent", making it difficult to retrieve mails I might have sent to trash but find I need some information from. I've searched in settings and preferences and cant seem to find a way to add "Trash" to my Mail categories/folders.
