"Mail send" sounds upon wakeup

Sometimes when I wake my Mac up in the morning, I hear several "Mail send" sounds in a row. This morning it was 15. When I go to Mail I don't see any activity, and there's nothing in my "Sent Mail" box to show for all those sounds. What's the deal? Is this a known issue? Have I been hacked?

SusPup--
Have you set up automatic notifications in iCal?  I have that set to send me emails in the morning.

  • Yosemite causes Mac Mini to send sound to wrong System Setting choice

I have a Late 2012 Mac Mini that I run/upgrade with every OS that comes along. Until Yosemite, everything was fine.
After upgrading to Yosemite, the system Sounds (like a boing when a file is copied or moved, or the flyaway sound when a mail gets sent, etc) always come out of the (lame-o) speaker on my HDMI monitor, whereas the other sounds, like youtube videos, the volume up/down click sound, etc, all come from the choice in my systems settings: headphones.
I have tried changing the setting and power off/power on, and even a restart. But nothing seems to make the system sounds come out the headphone jack of my mac mini. Believe me, this has always worked. In fact, I didn't even know I had a speaker on my monitor until Yosemite made it speak!
I tried using apple support chat, but they kept telling me to check the connections, as if my audio wasn't working. It IS working, but it seems that some OS thingys are disobeying the System Setting of 'headphones' and still (always) sending the sounds out the crappy speaker in my monitor.
    Has anybody else noticed this?

    I found it!!!
Alert sounds (the ones that always go out my HDMI display's (crappy) speaker) are controlled through the Sound Effects pane of the Sound System Preferences window:
System Preferences -> Sound -> Sound Effects -> "Sound effects through:"
In my case, I have two destination choices for these sound effects: Headphones, and HH281 (my HDMI capable monitor, which is my main/only display).
IF I choose HH281 here, then it doesn't matter if I have System Preferences -> Notifications -> Mail -> Play sound for notifications turned OFF. The sounds still come out my HDMI display's speaker.
IF I choose Headphones in System Preferences -> Sound -> Sound Effects -> "Sound effects through:", then the sounds come out the headphones ONLY IF System Preferences -> Notifications -> Mail -> Play sound for notifications is turned ON.
So, it appears that alert sound effects have their own setting for how/where they get played. Perhaps this wasn't the case in prior to Yosemite, or perhaps these choices were available in Mavericks, and Yosemite changed the default setting on me. I dunno. But I believe I have it working the way I am accustomed to it working.

  • Mail notification (sound) will not change

I cannot seem to get the mail sound to change (on my iPhone5) from the sound I had on my 4s (backed up and reloaded through iCloud).
I have changed the sound in "settings" and regardless of that sound is chosen, the "News Flash" WILL.NOT.GO.AWAY
I even changed it to "None" and the "News Flash" sound still chimes.
    Anyone have this issue?

Ok so the first things that you would need to determine are as follows:  This is the best way to get this to test and see if it works for you.   First things first, set aside all the notes on configurations that you would need for 2 Accounts to configure with email.  Prior to doing this, do the reset as listed above in the directions of this post's reply.  Once you have it reset, then do the following steps:
    1.   First , set the mail notification Sound by going to Settings > Sounds > Mail , and change this here to something other than default.
    2.  Add your first email account first to the phone using the Mail Accounts and do New.  Once you have added the new account, just this first one, send a mail message to it from a PC/MAC and test to see if the sound is working other than the default meaning the sound you changed it to.
    3.  Once you have conifrmed that it's working this way, next you will need to do, is add the 2nd account to the phone, and test that you can get mail on it.
    4.  Now that you have both accoutns, you can go into Settings>Notifications>Mail>and you will see both accounts listed there .   For me it's : Exchange, LiveMail, Icloud in that order.   All of these are clickable with touch.
5  Touch one of them it will open the menu to allow you to change notifications including sounds.
CHANGE all 3 accounts sounds using step 4 listed and then after you have done this for each of them accounts, test by sending emails to them.
Let me know if you need help.
    Thanks.

  • Mail - sends but not visual signal

    Hello,
We've got mac OS X Tiger mail sending mail perfectly well. I hear the little air plane sound go on, but the little gear next to "sent" does not show. Does anyone know how to make it happen? Thanks

What do you see for that account if you invoke Mail's menu option Window > Connection Doctor?
Pay particular attention to the settings under the "Advanced" tab for that account in the Mail preference "Accounts" panel.

  • Yahoo! Mail send problem

Hello all, anyone know when we will see a fix for the Yahoo! Mail sending problem? (This is when the iphone appears to have sent an email by playing the "swoosh" sent mail sound, but the message was not sent, the way users have been getting Yahoo! Mail to send again is by turning their iphone off then back on).
    Cheers

For what it's worth I also had this problem with Yahoo mail on my iPhone. After getting tired of waiting for Yahoo to do something about it, I decided to cancel my Premium Yahoo account and switch to Gmail. I have to tell you Gmail has been amazing and I haven't looked back since. IMAP Gmail on my iPhone has made my email experience a pure joy.
BTW - I had my Yahoo account for over 7 years. And did you know that Yahoo is an acronym for You Always Have Other Options? Well I took them up on their advice since I wasn't too impressed with their service! My 2 cents.

  • Mail send issues

Every once in a while, I have problems with an email not being sent. It doesn't seem to matter if the email has an attachment or not.
When I click send, the email starts being sent as normal. Then the transfer rate slows right down and stops altogether. It doesn't pick up again, but eventually Mail makes its "mail sent" sound.
However, there is no sign of the sent email in the sent mailbox, nor in drafts. Also, if the problem email was a reply to another email, clicking on the curvy reply arrow brings up a message saying that the reply is missing.
Does anyone know why this may be happening, and of a way to find the missing email so that I can attempt to send it again?
    Thanks

That doesn't seem overloaded. However, that depends on the amount of space your provider gives and how much is in the inbox.
If the message was sent, then it should have been in the sent folder and on the server. The first place it's copied to a sent folder is through the IMAP server, not the MAC. You only see it on the mac when it syncs. Check the website for that account and verify the message doesn't appear there. You might also check other folders at the IMAP site that it may have moved to such as archive that may not show on your Mac. Also check the IMAP folder for the account in the bottom of the sidebar for folders there that it may be in.
What you can do is is uncheck to store messages on the server for the IMAP account. That will take the IMAP sent messages mailbox for that account out of the main Sent Mailbox and put it back under the IMAP folder. It will create a local mailbox for that account when you send the next message. That will save the sent messages locally. If it happens again, you will know it's not your providers problem.
If that clears it up, then I would persue the problem with your provider.

  • Loss of Mail Action Sounds

Since downloading Yosemite, I have lost all my mail action sounds, including the "swosh" on sending an email.  Are these sounds not available with Yosemite?

  • Mail alert sound doesn't stick

I chose a doorbell sound for mail notification on Mail, but half the time I get the old mail sound instead. It seems to switch back and forth. How do I resolve this? Thanks in advance for any help.

    Hola chicos, (OK guys)
Here’s a solution to the (simple) Mail Notification Sound problem that most people are furious over. Whether it’s plays a sound occasionally or not at all, clearly there is a bug in Mail which prevents it playing sounds alerting you to any incoming mail.
There is even a rule you can apply in Mail>Preferences>Rules called Play Sound which SHOULD play a AIFF file of your choice on receipt of Every Message. But I’ve found this not to work too!
So, here’s a workaround in 2 easy steps:
(You need an AIFF sound file. Got it? Good)
_*STEP 1 - Modify & Save this tiny Applescript:*_
Imagine I have the following AIFF on my HD.
    /Users/mrlinguafranca/Library/Sounds/doorbell.aiff
    A. Copy n Paste the following into the ‘Script Editor’ application on OS X.
    tell application "Finder"
open document file "doorbell.aiff" of folder "Sounds" of folder "Library" of folder "mrlinguafranca" of folder "Users" of startup disk
    end tell
    B. Change the parameters with the location of YOUR AIFF file
    C. Click ‘Run’ to test that it plays the sound file. (Success? Good).
    D. Save it somewhere and exit.
_*STEP 2 - Setup a Rule in OS X Mail*_
    1. Open Mail.
    2. Click Mail>Preferences>Rules.
    3. Click Add Rule.
    4. Set up the rule as follows:
Give the rule a meaningful description e.g. PlayMailNotificationSound
“If ANY of the rules are met” select (Every Message) from the drop down.
Perform the following actions select (Run AppleScript) select (THE LOCATION OF YOUR APPLESCRIPT)
    Click OK.
    5. Restart OS X Mail.
    6. Send yourself a mail and listen carefully.
Hopefully it’ll work for you as it works for me.
(If even I can think of a workaround, what are the guys at Apple doing?)
    Buen dia.
    Mr Linguafranca.

  • Status of the mail sending option using SO_NEW_DOCUMENT_ATT_SEND_API1

    Hi experts,
I m using SO_NEW_DOCUMENT_ATT_SEND_API1 function moduel for sending mails to dealers. That is, whenver i execute a Z transaction, the customer invoice details are getting displayed in report output. At the same time, the same output data is sent as mail to the respective dealers.
Now teh user is asking whether there is any possiblity for the end users to have a proof of the mail which is being sent from the Z transaction. If the mail is sent, the end user who executes the Z transaction (mail sending transaction) should have that mail in his/her SENT ITEMS. If the mail not reaches the dealer, then the user must identify the mail bounce identification.
Pls tell me how to achve the same..
    Regards,
    Shanthi

    Hi,
    Yes it is possible..
Just pass 'X' to the exporting parameter 'put_in_outbox'. The user can check the send mail in 'sost'. All the details of the mail will be there. This will be the proof that the mail was sent.
Reg the 2nd part of your query, if the mail is not delivered to any reciepent or to particular recipient, the details will be there in the SAP outbox, that also you can see through transaction 'sost'.
    Thanks & Regards
    Rocky

  • Send E-mail Send E-mail question

    Hi,
Im trying out the Developers Toolbox and am trying to figure out if its right for me, and have very basic - beginning MySQL and php skills.
The tutorial at http://help.adobe.com/en_US/Dreamweaver/9.0_ADDT/help.html?content=ch12_send_email_01.htm l is rather sketchy, when I follow the tutorial on that page:
"The Send E-mail trigger allows the site developer to automatically send an e-mail when a form is submitted. It is an AFTER trigger, and it can be executed after insert/update/delete/custom transactions.
This trigger is accessible from the Application panel, Server Behaviors > + > Developer Toolbox > Send E-mail > Send E-mail."
well, when I try that, I get an error on the page which says:
"There are no insert, update, custom or login or delete transactions on page. Please insert an appropriate transaction first."
OK I am assuming that I need some kind of an html form open and on a page, however where do I start? Its as if the tutorials left out a huge chunk of the instructions. I realize I am no expert but if someone was buying the toolbox for the first time how would one know where to start? Do I need to create a new database table first? What kind of table? Can it be a table that is part of the site database for the shopping cart database that I already have linked to the store? Or does it need to be a seperate - database, table? Or just a php page with the form in it? Or does the form page need to be .html?
Or is the toolkit only for advanced developers with advanced php and MySQL skills and should I not even bother buying it?
Anyway can someone please give me a hint?
All I am trying to do is construct a simple email form for my web site which I have created in Dreamweaver and I need a php script to process the data inserted into the form and send it off to the mail server to forward to the webmaster's email address. I have the form created and brought up the form page, but then the Server Behaviors > + > Developer Toolbox > Send E-mail > Send E-mail. Tab is not accessible, and I am assuming that it wont be unless I have a .php file open, so I dont have a clue as to where to start.
So Ive got 27 days left to determine if its worth buying the toolbox, if I cant figure it out by then then I guess Ill buy some easier to use extension or stand alone to create my email form and other scripts.

    Hi DBS,
    just some thoughts:
So Ive got 27 days left to determine if its worth buying the toolbox, if I cant figure it out by then then I guess Ill buy some easier to use extension or stand alone to create my email form and other scripts
honestly said: if sending form data via email is about all you want to achieve, buying ADDT or even trying to learn it would be overkill, as it comes with heaps of features which you´ll probably never need -- in this case investing in a stand alone form-to-email script seems a better solution.

Dude, netiquette. Messages like "i need this now! Do it!" are really offensive and no one here is being payed to answer anyone's questions. We're here because we like to contribute to the community.
Anyway, in your case, just perform some search on how you could filter the files that are attached to the message. The sample module is just an example, you'll have to implement your own. Tips would be to query the filename of the attachments (or maybe content type) and for the ones which are not text, remove them.

  • Mail Sender adapter issue in PO7.4

    Hello Experts,
We are migrating from PI7.0 to PO7.4, where in we are struck up with an issue of Mail Sender Interface.
Here we have a scenario of Mail to Proxy where we are processing attachment(CSV file). But here when I we run the interface mail body is being processed not the attachment. Also could nt see the Payload as when I click on the Attachment payload a pop up is coming and closing automatically.
Can someone please suggest where it went wrong as this is working in existing PI7.0 version.
    Thanks.
    VR

    Hi VR
Have you tried swapping by Payload name?
Please try it out with the following configuration, and remove any extra lines - there are duplicate key names and values in your configuration.
You should be able to see the successfully swap by payload name in the audit log as shown below.

  • Mail Sender Adapter - Attachment Handling

    Hello,
    I 'm using XI 3.0 SP 14.
I have problems with my Mail-Sender-Adapter.
The mails, I fetch, have an xml-attachment which
    represents an IDOC-structure (ORDERS.ORDERS05).
I want to sent this attachment as payload to an SAP-System.
The problem is now, that I have 2 Payloads (SXMB_MONI).
One for the normal email-body and one for my original
    xml-attachment. See below:
    - <SAP:Payload xlink:href="cid:[email protected]">
      <SAP:Name>MailMessage</SAP:Name>
      <SAP:Description>mail message</SAP:Description>
      <SAP:Type>Application</SAP:Type>
      </SAP:Payload>
    - <SAP:Payload xlink:href="cid:[email protected]">
      <SAP:Name>MailAttachment-1</SAP:Name>
      <SAP:Description>mail attachment</SAP:Description>
      <SAP:Type>ApplicationAttachment</SAP:Type>
      </SAP:Payload>
      </SAP:Manifest>
      </SOAP:Body>
The XI Runtime Workbench (SXMB_MONI) takes (in my case)
the wrong one (email-body-attachment) and gives me
an parsing error. (Error occurs at my IDOC-Receiver-Adapter)
    Now my question:
Can I remove the email-body-attachment, so that
the further processing works with my xml-attachment?
Or how can I resolve my problem.
    best regards
    Marcel Reichert

    Hi Marcel,
use the PayloadSwapBean module to get the attachment as main payload.
    http://help.sap.com/saphelp_nw04/helpdata/en/2e/bf37423cf7ab04e10000000a1550b0/frameset.htm
    As parameters use:
    swap.keyName = payload-name
    swap.keyValue = MailAttachment-1
    Regards
