Mail Sender Communication channel not polling

Dear all,
In our PI 7.1 Sever, we have observed a issue.
Sender mail communication channel status is green in RWB-->Channel monitoring but the channel does not pick up any mails form the mailbox.
After we stop and then start the channel, it is picking up the mails.
Any pointers on the root casue for this issue and any resolution steps or any SAP Notes to implement will be of great help.
Regards,
Younus

Hi,
Is it like everytime you have to restart the mail channel again and again?
Sometimes it happens, a quick restart will refresh the adapter cache and the messages are processed.
So, its not a problem.

Sushama

  • PI sender communication channel not reading files from NFS directory

    Hello,
I have a sender communication channel configured to read file from NFS directory which is on ECC server. A program in ECC generates the file and puts it on the ECC server in the output directory. PI sender communication channel is supposed to pickup this file and process it. If I give the NFS path as the source directory, I am getting error: Configured source directory '//Server/DIR/OUT' does not exist. I tried putting '
Server\DIR\OUT' too but same error. Do I have to add the NFS path of ECC into PI as logical path?
    Any suggestions?
    Thanks,
    Sangita

    Hello Sangita,
Your ECC server is an external system, therefore you need to activate FTP service in that system and use the transport protocol FTP:
    http://help.sap.com/saphelp_nw04/helpdata/en/e3/94007075cae04f930cc4c034e411e1/content.htm
You can use NFS protocol when you have a local directory in XI server.

  • Why is a sender communication channel not required for IDOC and PROXY ?

    Hello,
In case of IDOCs, metadata will be available in PI for the IDOCs used both at inbound and outbound.
Why is a sender communication channel is not required in case of IDOC and PROXY outbound scenarios (i.e. IDOC to File or PROXY to file ..)  when a receiver channel is required for scenarios like file to IDOC or file to PROXY.
Though this might be a regular question, I am not able to find a proper reason.
Please let me know the reason for the above request.
    Thanks & Regards.

You will create RFC destination in ECC , it will have details about PI system details, when ever you send IDoc, ECC will use Port and RFC destination to connect PI Integratiion engine to deliver data to PI.
But when receiver side you will create RFC destination in PI with ECC details, but to call RFC destination and Port we need medium that was the reason we create IDoc communication channel.
Even the same case for Proxy also, but HTTP deastination establish the conection between ECC and PI, but receiver side you have to create XI channel with PI integratioin engine adress to post data.

  • Mail to File Integration(Mail Sender Communication channel status RED)

    Hi all,
I am doing  Email to File Integration Scenario, XI is reading mails from an particular exchange server mail id & putting it in to a file. now all IR & ID configuration is done.
But in  RuntimeW Bench -> Adapter Monitreing The Sender Mail Communication  Channel is RED with error occured: exception caught during processing mail message; j<b>ava.io.IOException: invalid IMAP status response; not finding * STATUS, but 00KC NO The requested item could not be found
    </b>
We check the Exchange Server login Acess through TELNET ,as suggested from SAP Service marketplace
and login is successfull, with details  available of Inbox
but in TENET when we try to execute the<b> IMAP Status command error message comes
    " expected space not found"</b> .
Since XI is not able to read the inbox mail, so Sxmb_moni is blank.....
can any body suggest that this issus is related to that <b>IMAP Status</b>..........or some thing else..
    our URL is correct.
    Regards,
    Ashutosh

    the URL path was wrong...
                          it should end with   .......<b>exchange/Inbox/</b>

  • File Sender Communication Channel not working

    Hi All,
We have one file sender channel which sends file after every 3 hours.
But currently it has stopped the processing of file.
If we see in RWB it shows that "Correctly configured and started",but if we start and stop the chanel it doesnt show any processing started message.
File is there in the folder but the channel doesnt poll the folder to pick up the file.
We have refreshed the cache and activated the channel again.
But still no luck, does anybody have any idea?

    Hi Shweta,
Please check the parameters of your File adapter. There can be following  possibility if File adapter is not picking the file :
    1. File adapter is not active
    2. Incorrect File name, Directory name or path,
    3. File does not exist in the source directory.
    4. If you are accessing file from other server (use FTP protocol) check you have READ and WRITE access.
    Thanks
    Farooq.

  • Error in Mail Sender communicational channel

    Hello!
We have an XI scenario, which should take emails from the mail server and transfer them to SAP. For this purpose the configuration channel has been configured with the following params:
    Transport protocol: IMAP:
    Message protocol: XIPAYLOAD
    Configure user authentification: checked.
This channel stopped working about two weeks ago after a kernal patch (notes 1436917, 1441654, 1424397 and 1443925). The error is the following:
exception caught during processing mail message [44]java.lang.ArrayIndexOutOfBoundsException: Array index out of range: 0
Application log gives only this information:
    1.5 #16F1003D6202007C00003680001470F4000484907936C6A6#1271655950632#/Applications/ExchangeInfrastructure/AdapterFramework/SAPLibraries/SAPXDK##com.sap.aii.messaging.srt.xmb.XMBIMAPInitiatorServiceImpl.invoke()#J2EE_GUEST#0##bxp45ci_BXP_505494050##91fa4cf04b6e11dfae4616f1003d6202#XI Mail[Mail_Sender_MailFIBeleg/S36_SECURITAS/]_800280##0#0#Error#1#com.sap.aii.messaging.srt.xmb.XMBIMAPInitiatorServiceImpl#Plain###exception caught during processing mail message; java.io.IOException: unexpected list response;
I don't have an access to the Adminiatraion Viewr by now and can't activate any other traces. What is the most interesting - the error is occured only for definite sender, if the email is sent from another address, the processing works without errors.
Do you have any suppositions why could it be so and where should we search the reason of problem?
Your help will be very appreciated.

  • Restrict E-mail sender in the Mail sender communication channel.

    Hi All,
My scenerio customers want to Email with attachment to PI server. I've successfull tested this scenerio without one open issue. Right now anyone having email id can send mail to PI server.
I want to restrict the senders list. Is this possible in the sender Mail adapter configuration.
    Thanks,

    Hi,
    Its possible.
You need to configure 2 receiver
    1)MailA
    2)MAILB
    in receiver determination.
then you need to route it based on Subject using condition in receiver determination.
Use the below XSD to create your sender mail message type
    <?xml version="1.0" encoding="utf-8" ?>

and use mail package in sender mail adapter.
Then your mail will come in XI in the above format.
then based on subject field you can conditionaly determine the receiver.
    Message Protocol
    u25CF      XIALL
In this mode, the content of the RF C822 e-mail matches the content of the XI message. The XI message is a multipart MIME message with a SOAP envelope as its first part. See also: Messages, under XI Message Protocol.
    u25CF      XIPAYLOAD
In this mode, the content of the e-mail is put in the payload of the XI message. If you do not set the Use Mail Package indicator, the information about the sender (From), receiver (To), and subject of the e-mail is lost.

  • 2 JMS Sender Communication Channels polling 1 MQ Queue

    Hi Experts,
I have a situation where 2 JMS sender communication channels are polling 2 different message type data (via content conversion in JMS) from 1 MQ queue.  However adapters are having problem polling the right message from the queue.
Is this something that is not possible?
I know that we can possibly use 2 MQ queues - one for JMS 1 with message type 1 and the other for JMS 2 with message type 2
    OR
1 JMS with 1 common message type with 1 MQ queue.
But I want to confirm whether my current situation is suppose to work or not.
    Thanks,

Maintain different queues for different message types.
The adapters else will just pick the message that comes to the queue first based on the polling time irrespective of the message type. It is not intelligent enough

  • Sender communication channel stopped after error "Connection Timed Out"

    Hi experts,
in our scenario we have an asyncronous sender communication channel with polling every 6 seconds to an external FTP server.
Yesterday evening a "Connection Timed Out" error came.
After this error the polling stopped but channel in communication channel monitoring still remains green.
So status green but no polling.
To solve this problem we stopped and then restarted channel from CC monitoring.
    The channel is configured "manually".
The question is: Is it possible to avoid this problem? Maybe there's a parameter in configuration to set?
After a time out error the channel must go on polling, it should not stop. Or it must shows red status.
    Thanks

  • Files not getting picked up using Sender Communication Channel frm MDM sy

    Hi Experts,
XI sender communication channel is configured to pick up any files coming from MDM system from the following path
    /XXX/XXX/mdm/mds/XXX/XXX/Material_Master/Outbound/P33/P33_R3_PORT/Ready
Earlier we had the scenario working properly that created idocs in R3 system.(MDM>XI>R3)
Currently i tried to test the scenario again but i don't see an entry in the sxmb_moni or tried checking whether the sender communication channel is working properly it showed polling correctly in RWB.The files are already sitting in the the above path.XI should be picking it up but don't know what the problem is?
I also tried a test in RWB>Integration Engine>Test Message  put the payload and it was able to create idocs in R3.So i concluded there is an error in picking up message from MDM.
Is there any log available for the commmunication channel where i can see error info of whether any files picked up or not.
Please suggest me what all can be done to to ensure the CC is picking up the files.
    Earlier responses highly appreciated.
    B'Rgds,
    Sudhansu

    Hi,
In addition to the RWB channel check suggested by Aamir, you should also check if the channel is
    1) Active in ID
    2) Channel is not locked in VA, if it is locked then your status in RWB will show processing started but the files wont be picked up...for more details check the unlocking procedure mentioned in this thread:
JDBC Sender Adapter -  NOT FETCHING RECORDS -PROCESSING STARTED
The unlocking procedure is the same for FILE and JDBC....

  • File sender Communication Channel is not working

    Hi friends
we  Created File sender Communication Channel and Activated but It is not picking up file

Perosnally, I would recommend setting a trace and letting the system telling you exactly why.
Traces are used to analyze runtime errors.  By setting a specific trace level for specific locations, you can analyze the behavior of individual code segments at class and method level.  This is done with the help of the log configurator service:
Log onto the Java Admin Console
    &#61680;     Services
    &#61680;     Log Configurator
    &#61680;     Locations
&#61680;     Choose the location (Java package) and the tracing level (severity)
    (for example, com.sap.aii.adapter.file)
    &#61680;     Root Location > com > sap > aii > File
&#61680;     Set the severity and choose Copy Severity to Subtree

  • Sender agreement & communication channel not needed in case of IDOC adapter

    Hello everyone ,
I am new to xi , as far as i know a communication channel cannot be created in ID when using IDOC adapter , the answer for this question is like , the idoc adapter resides on the integration server & not part of j2ee AF .
Can some one explain me in the terms of a laymen , its not clear to me.
    Thanks & Regards,
    Reena.

    Hi ! Reena
IDOC adapter resides on Integration server, so Integration engine takes care of the conversion format from IDOC to XML, hence there is no need for sender Adapter .Also since its residing on Integration server you can directly post the message in the Integration engine.
well lemme explain a little bit,the main reason for sender agreement is to associate namespace with the sender adapter, now when we shoot IDOC from R/3 it already contains its standard SAP namespace so no need of sender agreement.
now comes the sender CC,main use of sender CC is to identify the sending system and the adapter.the IDOC header contains details of all the this,so again there is no need for sender CC
loook at this thread discuss the same

  • Error in communication channel " not initialized"

    Hi All,
I'm working in FIle to mail scenario. In this scenario whenever i upload a text file to the R/3 application server. that file should be sent (as a attachment with a mail) to any email id. I did all the required configuration in IR. but i'm verymuch confused in ID configuration. I have created both sender and receiver communication channel in the same business system which refers a sender (R/3) System.sender communication channel is working fine. but when i activate the receiver communication channel it shows an error "not initialized".
    So kindly let me know,
    1. Should i use business system for my receiver end?,If so how do i create it?
    2. is receiver agreement, receiver determination, interface mapping necessary? If so, how do i configure it? because i'm not using any recever service since i'm sending mail to my mail box.
    note:
It would be very helpful if u refer any link to find out the recever determination and interface determination configuration for this type of scenario.
    Thanks & Regards,

  • XI-Multiple instance scenario -File & SQL sender communication channels

    Hi
i have a basic question regarding how file sender communication channel ( where we poll for a particular file pattern either using file/ftp types in a particular subfolder ) or a sql sender communication channel - ( selecting records from a sql source ) would work in a scenario with two active XI instances and j2EE file and sql adapter services running on both of the J2EE servers ?
    1. How would the file polling from both J2EE servers - avoid a conflict looking for the same file pattern ? Is there any inbuilt mechanism from SAP to make multiple instances work with the file polling - without a confict ?
    2. Simlar question for SQL sender type communication channel ?
If SAP does have a mechanism to handle multiple instance scenarios for file and sql sender adapter based communication channels, is there a link/document on this ?

    Hi Karthik,
    Please see my comments.
I am just wondering aloud - what will happen if we use a select for update clause in the sql sender adapter communication channel -
Gouri: Yes you can use select + update. In fact that is the right way.
will this ensure that polling from one J2EE instance will lock the selected records so that the second instance does not select the same set of records from the sql server ? Or should we not use a select for update and use a simple select statement ?
Gouri: Yes. SQL DB will ensure that same data will not be picked by another node. As I mentioned earlier use serilizable option from advanced mode.
