Mail sending Blank messages

At the moment many of my clients are sending me back messages saying: " the last message you sent me was blank" this happened for a while after leopard came out and often seems to happen after an update. Often the message will appear as an attachment but now people say they can't even find them. I'm assuming the people having problems use windows.
Why is this happening and how can I fix it.
It is fundamental that I'm able to send messages to people.

David,
I would guess you are sending messages composed in Rich Text Format, and somewhere along to the path to the recipient, the RTF, which will convert to HTML, has been removed by a SPAM filter. Try sending a Plain Text to this recipient and check the result.

Mail sends my messages a billion times!

Well, not a billion. But it sends my message even when I'm not done typing it. If I pause and come back later to the message, mail will send it without me pressing send. How do I stop this?!

Another problem I am having is that when I reply to messages in Apple Mail it usually puts a little curved arrow next to the original message that I can click on and see my reply, but now it doesn't! So it looks like I didn't reply to the message. I can actually view my reply if I go in the sent folder. Pretty annoying... Now when I go to my Gmail account on the google mail server, I can see that I did reply to that particular message (i.e. I don't have to go to the sent folder to view it!). It seems that the problem comes from Apple Mail app. I have heard many people having this problem... Any fix would be really welcome.

I just watched Mail send two messages I did not initiate.

When I tried to see what on earth they could be, as I was only trying to send one message and had no others waiting, I had no Outbox listed on the left. Under Mailbox -> Go To -> Outbox {command 2}, it was greyed out and wouldn't even let me see what I was sending, there are no apparent records of any other emails beyond the one I was trying to send. I'd turned off airport and was hooked up to an ethernet connection only to be able to send this email. What could that have been? I watched a progress bar show two and then three messages being sent out before I interrupted it pulling out the plug, but have no idea what or if I stopped anything. Is there a way I can find out what it was sending, other than the Sent folders which are playing innocent?

If you were composing a message and your Mail preferences for the account are configured to save drafts on the server, then what you observed was simply your draft being sent to the server's Drafts folder.

I was trying to email a link from a webpage I loaded in safari. The email sits in my outbox with a red exclamation point. WIll not send. Keeping getting an error message sending the message failed because you have exceeded your sending limit

I have to change (in my outgoing/unsent folder) my sending address from .mac to me.com. After reading the following helpful post:
To get outbox individual mails sent, Try going to outbox, opening each email to edit and change sending email to [email protected] by clicking arrow in from line. If [email protected] account does not show, go to settings > mail > icloud account > add "[email protected]" And, until this issue is resolved, set mail to send from [email protected]
(and you should be using smtp.mail.me.com)

TS2755 phone sending blank messages randomly, i did not compose

last week i sent a text to a contact and since sending it, every day at least once or twice, my log shows i sent a message to that same contact, but there is no message in it, and the really weird part is that I have not composed a message to this contact since the original text a week ago.
I spoke to the person and they had not received any messages from my phone, blank or otherwise since last week either.
Any idea of why or how this could happen? is it possible for the phone to generate and send a message arbitrarily?
if not what are other causes or possibilities?

How else? HTH should I know. You're the one that said "my log shows i sent a message"... No idea what "log" you're looking at. You want to cop an attitude... fine. Figure it out yourself.

Iphone error yahoo mail- sending the message content to the server failed

yesterday i changed my yahoo password (because my yahoo email acct started spamming all of my email contacts) and i also changed password on my iphone 4s settings but now cant send emails (can get them just fine)
i get the error "sending the message content to the server failed" and the email gets stuck in the outbox.
i have deleted the yahoo acct multiple times, rebooted the phone and restored network settings, added other yahoo smtp.mail.yahoo.com server, went to the genius bar for an hour, but no luck. tried a new iphone at apple store and added my yahoo account, but still had the same error from their phone.
they said contact yahoo- currently awaiting that reply.
my gmail acct sends emais fine thru iphone.
any help appreciated

hi - i posted this in another thread but meant to post it here - oops - i've been following this thread and others for days now - i also have been having safari/email 'sending message content to server failed'/flash 10 plugin problems since latest security/java/qt software update - here's what i recommend and what i'll be doing from now on - before i install any updates via software update i'll be saving the download/installers to a folder as suggested in another topic thread - next i'll be disconnecting my router - and connecting the modem directly to the computer - bypassing the router - once i'm sure configurations/internet/mail are functioning correctly i'll connect the router - all this time my problems were with my router port settings - not safari or flash 10 plugin or mail app - go figure - hope this helps - peace!

Mail: 'Sending the message content to the server failed'

My wife has a MacBook Pro and I have an iMac, both using Tiger and both using Mac Mail with Gmail accounts. We frequently get errors when sending mail - mail cannot send so it puts the messege indefinately in my Outbox. We both recieve mail just fine.
The exact error is:
'This message could not be delivered and will remain in your Outbox until it can be delivered.
Sending the message content to the server failed.'
I tried changing my port 25 to 587 and it did not seem to work. Any ideas?

Mail sending 2 messages for every 1 sent ("sending 2 of 2 messages")

hi... did a search, but it was a tough one to search for.
an odd problem: mail says it's sending 2 messages for each message i send. for instance, i type a note to my mom (because i'm a good son) and hit send on the one email... the status bar at the bottom left of the panel says: "sending message: 2 of 2" or "outgoing messages: 2 of 2"...
however, in checking the sent folder, only 1 message sent.
it does not do this all of the time, but about 1 out of every 5 messages, it seems...
i'm worried about malware, spyware, etc... would there be such a thing? why is mail acting weird?

There are no viruses for Mac OS X, and no malware can be installed without you providing your Admin password, so you don't have that, either.
This is normal behavior, because you have an IMAP email account. In order for everything to be in sync, the mail server and your Mac must communicate very frequently, and that includes whenever you send or receive email. The message may say one thing, but unless you see multiple, identical messages being sent or received, it's not happening. There's no such thing as invisible email.

Sending blank messages

How do I send a blank message(no text, no characters whatsoever)?

This is more like a workaround because the white space is actually a charater (so called whitespace charater). I want to send a completely blank message(no text, no characters whatsoever) and since this looks impossible with the built-in messaging program, I am wondering if there are any apps that can do the job.

Hi Anil,
There are several OSS Notes that relate to CL SMTP RESPONSE ESMTP, as well as several that appear to be related to XS829. You should try looking at those first - or if they don't apply, please let us know.

Mail sending new message notifications for Old Messages

Hi,
Since upgrading to Mavericks I've been having a ton of problems with the Mail App.
I'm running on a Macbook Pro (13-inch Early 2011 Model) with 4gb of RAM and OS at version 10.9
I have Mail connected to two different accounts 1 Gmail and one Exchange. The recently released "Mail Update" has not fixed these issues.
The primary issue is that every time I have Mail open it constantly pops up notification badges to say that I have new messages. In fact it is sending these notifications for messages that are in most cases months old. Moreover even after confirming these the next day it will repeat this for the same exact messages. I've attempted to rebuild the index by deleting the Envelope files in the Library as suggested in another discussion topic. This didn't correct the problem. The result of this beyond the annoyance of having the notifications constantly popping us is it also seem to make my system grind to a halt - while it is parsing these sometime 100's - of notifications.
I believe related to this (but not clear) is that in many cases delivery of messages to my exchange account is very very delayed. I will receive a message on my iPhone Mail app sometimes hours before it syncs into my Laptops Mail app (even with attempts at Manually checking mail.)
Anyone have any suggestions on how to repair this issue?

Try this:
Go into Preferences -> General and uncheck the box that says "Play sounds for other mail actions".
I'm not sure if it will work since that's really still "new" mail, but it might be worth trying.

Apple Mail shows Blank Messages on Exchange Account

I have three email accounts. Normally, they all work well but more and more frequently my Exchange account shows a message in my inbox but when I click on it, the body is blank. I've clicked to check messages, resynchronized the server even deleted the account and reset it again. The problem still returns. Here is the oddest thing. I think it is only for email sent internally. That is email from outside of the organization don't exhibit this problem. Also, once I view an email from outside the organization, the internal email shows up again.
Another issue is that when I send an email using exchange to an internal recipient, I often receive the challenge to select a server and then it fails and I have to select it again. After selecting the Exchange server two or three times, it sends. Unfortunately, my recipients receive the message every time so they will get two or three copies of the same message.
We are using Exchnage server 2007.
Any thoughts?

I manage an Exchange 2007 and I have been having this issue for over a month. It was effecting all of the Mac Computers that we support. The good news I was able to fix it last night after reading about a similar problem with Blackberry phones. Unfortunately, you will need to either be the Exchange admin or have influence in your IT Department.
On the Exchange server the Performance Counters need to be verified and it is found in the following registry key:
HKEY_LOCAL_MACHINE\Software\Microsoft\Windows NT\Current Version\Perflib\009
When you viewing the key in explorer mode I found that it was basically blank. It should read like the following:
1 1847 2 System 4 Memory 6 % Processor Time...
If its blank it corrupted.
Supposidly this was caused by the update to Service Pack 2 upgrade... However, I did that a 6 + months ago. The only change since then was that the server was virtualized to VMware.
Here is what you do to fix this:
(Note: This was done on a Windows 2008 R2 Sever... However, it should work on 2003 and 2008 as well)
Launch the Windows Command Prompt (cmd), ensure that you run the Command Prompt as the Administrator. For example, click Start, click All Programs, click Accessories, right click Command Prompt and click Run As Administrator.
Change Directory to <root drive>\Windows\System32, the root drive is typically C:. Run the following command
lodctr /R
This will restore the base or core counters
Check the registry value under HKLM/Software/Microsoft/WindowsNT/CurrentVersion/Perflib/009 and ensure that the value Counter is no longer corrupted.
In the Command Prompt window, run the following command:
wmiadap /f
This will force the reload of all counters in to the WMI repository.
Open Performance Monitor (perfmon.exe) and click the green + to Add, this will open Add Counters. Verify that the MSExchange counters exist and have Instances populated.
Restart the Microsoft Exchange Server computer.
NOTE: This step is required.

Mail inbox - blank messages

A strange one: I upgraded to 10.5.5, and now I can't view old mails in the inbox. They are all there, and the headers are fine. But clicking on them just opens a blank window.
All mails arriving AFTER the upgrades are fine - they can be viewed as normal. It's just the old ones.
Also, the same mails are OK when viewed through Gmail. So it's clearly a Leopard/Mail thing. What's going on?

OK, I did the rebuild. Now I've lost all the old mails! Only the ones that came after the upgrade are now visible...help!

Mail displays blank messages after upgrading to mavericks

In Mail some, but not all emails display with no content at all. This is extremely frustrating and embarrassing when I have to tell my clients I can't read my email!
Has anyone else got this? Is there a solution?

I have worked it out a bit.
I can now read my emails.
The problems only occurred to emails with rules applied to them, and the particular client I was having issues with was nested within another folder.
I had done some housekeeping and moved all my filtered clients emails into a parent folder named 'clients' with all subfolders within named after the particular clients.
I have now dragged the child folders out of the parent folder and can now read my emails. I have no idea why it caused these problems, I have a 'suppliers' parent folder with supplier child folders within and they're all visible.
Frustrating, but at least I can do some work now…

Why did Mail send a message unasked?

Checking my mail the other day I heard the Mail Gone sound although I had no mail scheduled to go. When I checked the Sent folder there was no record of any mail having been sent. I'm a bit suspicious of a bug and checking through various folders came across something called 'pkcs11.shlb' in Library/Applications Support/Mozilla. Should this be there? What exactly is it?

Hi ernie, thanks for your speedy reply. That sounds reassuring, though I don't have firefox. I opened a copy of the document using TextEdit and it started off with the word 'Joy!' before it got into all its code which was what made me think it could be some kind of virus. I've tucked the original document away somewhere safe while I wait to find out if it does belong to the system...
