Mail sent items problem
Hi everyone recently bought my first mac and been having problem setting up my imap email accounts, the problem is my sent messages are not showing up even tho they have been sent and received, I have 3 imap accounts all the account details are correct the left hand menu looks something like this, with the following inconsistancies
Mailboxes
inbox
[email protected]
[email protected]
[email protected]
sent
[email protected] .......................(SOME ITEMS)
[email protected] .......................(SOME ITEMS)
..............................(MYEMAIL2 IS MISSING FROM HERE ALTOGETHER)
[email protected]
deleted items
junk E-mail
sent .......................(EMPTY)
sent items .............(FULL FROM SERVER BUT NOT UPDATING WITH NEW SENT MESSAGES)
spam
trash
[email protected]
deleted items
junk E-mail
sent .......................(SOME ITEMS)
sent items .............(FULL FROM SERVER BUT NOT UPDATING WITH NEW SENT MESSAGES)
spam
trash
[email protected]
deleted items
junk E-mail
sent .....................(EMPTY)
sent items .............(FULL FROM SERVER BUT NOT UPDATING WITH NEW SENT MESSAGES)
spam
trash
Also when I send an email it doesn't show up in sent items therefor its not backed up and saved to the server it only appears in the largely empty sent folders
I would like every sent item to be sent to the sever "sent items" folder and have my "sent" folder for [email protected] appear under mailboxes like the other 2 email addresses anybody know whats going on and how to rectify it
Thanks
Ok I solved the problem for the benefit of anybody who might find this post and have a similar problem.
The problem was I used windows mail and later windows live mail for years and they had created a lot of different folders which synced with my imap folders, my host default folders were as follows
drafts
inbox
sent items
spam
trash
other folders which appeared in some of my accounts depending on which mail programs I had used to access them were as follows
deleted items
deleted messages
junk E-mail
Notes

sent messages
1) I deleted my accounts from my mac and other devices such as my iphone in mac mail this is under
Mail menu----preferences-----accounts highlight the acount and press the minus button
2) then I logged into my online mail account for my host, moved items from folders such as "sent" and "sentmessages" to my default "sent items" folder, they had been placed in these odd folders by various email clients and deleted those non default folders
3) I then re set up those accounts in mac mail and highlighted the "sent items" folder in the left hand menu in each case and then went to the
mailbox menu---- use this mailbox for-----sent
4) then finally re synced my iPhone mail accounts, now it all works and my mail accounts are nice and clean
hope this helps someone

On OSX 10.6.8 Mac Mail sent items do not show the Bcc field. Adjusting settings in mail/prefs/viewing/custom/bcc has no affect on Mail, ie Bcc still does not appear on sent items. Yet another example of Mac caring not a jot about the performance of versions of OS and software running on on older hardware. Anyone got a fix by any chance? Oh and fyi I need to see the Bcc in sent items to confirm sent email is attaching to Salesforece - when I see the Bcc I know I can delete it as a copy will be in SForce. Big thanks W.

Office 365/Outlook 2013 Shared Mailbox Sent Items Problem
I've only been able to find an answer for this problem for Outlook 2010, and that doesn't work for 2013.
I'm trying to make the sent items for a shared mailbox save to the sent items of that mailbox, not my mailbox. I got the deleted items to finally work, I just need to get the sent items to work now.
I've read about this key:
HKEY_CURRENT_USER\Software\Microsoft\Office\15.0\Outlook\Options\Conversations
But I don't have the conversations folder, should I make it?
I've also seen this:
HKEY_CURRENT_USER\Software\Microsoft\Office\14.0\Outlook\Preferences\DelegateSentItemsStyle
But that doesn't seem to work with Office 2013.
Any ideas?
ThanksWe have the same problem with a client. We are using Office 365 with Outlook 2013 on a RDS Windows Server 2012 R2. I can't find the HKEY_CURRENT_USER\Software\Microsoft\Office\15.0\Outlook\Preferences
folder in the registry. HKEY_CURRENT_USER\Software\Microsoft\Office\15.0\ is as far as it gets.
Even when we sent from the Office 365 online mailbox and fill in the from address, the sent mail is stored in the sent items folder from the user instead of the shared mailbox.
I've searched everywhere for a solution, but I haven't found one yet.
Regards,
Steve

Yahoo mail sent items confusion.
I'm confused with how yahoo mail is working and syncing between webmail/mac mail and ipad mail.
Inbox seems to work and sync fine.
However re sent items yahoo mail seems to have 2 folders - one titled 'sent' which is mac/ipad/webmail appears near the top and another titled 'sent messages' which appears as a folder.
Messages sent from the ipad/mac i think appear in the folder 'sent messages' but from the web in 'sent.
Why can't it just sync/work with one location for all sent items?
Can gmail work with just one sent items folder? if so i may well migrate!I'm having the same problem, and the only help I ever seem to find suggested anywhere is "make sure its set up as an IMAP account"
BUT it is! Mail automaticly sets all yahoo accounts up as IMAP. So is this just a yahoo problem? Is there anyway to fix this?
For me the bigger issue isnt that I need to be able to check my e-mail through a web browser regulerly, but on my Iphone and Ipad the account, which is through the mail app, also dosnt show sent mail sent through the mac app.
I agree this makes mail on my mac totally usless. -
Synchronise ios mail sent items with yahoo?
I have got a new iMac and have my Yahoo email account synchronised with iOS Mail. The inboxes across my devices are the same but any emails sent from iOS mail do not appear on my Yahoo account or on my iPad or iPhone. Has anyone come across this before? Is there a solution to synchronise Sent Items?
Thanks

Mail Sent Items not Syncing with Rackspace Server
Hi,
My sent items are not fully syncing with my rackspace email account. Some items sent through Mail show up in the rackspace sent items and some do not. I am worried that emails are not being sent. Also, when replicating, Mail will show something like "outgoing messages 35 of 35", when I send a single email to a single individual. What is that all about?
Any help would be much appreciated. Thanks in advance.Hi All
Just to add my solution in here. I was gaving the issue where all of my mail had synchronised, and all of my ical and all of addressbook. However, my sent mail folder was not syncing, and worse still, no new sent mail was being saved off in sent mail.
Initially I thought it was a mailbox size thing, so I archived off the majority of my mail on another machine, deleted the sent mails, and then let the other machine sync with Exchange.
However still the same issue on a tiny mailbox. After seeing this thread (pointed here by Apple Tech support - thanks Clement) i deleted all sent mails on another machine, jumped back onto mac mail.app and all was well.
I still have a weird issue with delinquent emails in sent mail that wont delete, but I can live with that.
I too wish that Apple would make a more robust mail application - Apple ProMail as part of the iwork suite anyone?? -
After the latest E72 firmware update, when sending email, the message that I have sent does NOT appear in the sent items box. This is only the case with the "master account" with which I registered at email.nokia.com. When sending emails from one of the other accounts that I added later, the emails DO show up in the sent items box after I sent them.
Okay, picture this: when I send an email from an OTHER nokia phone (N82) with Nokia Email on it (different version of course), it shows up in the sent items box. And when I open Nokia Email later on the E72, the message sent with the N82 shows up in the sent items box of the E72 (so indeed nice synchronisation)!
But no way that if I send from the E72, it shows up in the sent items box. Someone has the same? Thanks all! This seems to be a general problem with the S60 email implementation.

IPad and iPhone mail sent items does not synch with exchange 365
This has been a longish term issue that vue ignored till now but...
I run exchange 365 hosted service from Microsoft, own domain.
It synchs all no issues with iPad and iPhone mail, contacts calendars etc all except sent items on mail.
My last synced sent items mail is 2012.
It tries to synch ie connecting etc, then fails, locking up mail synch for about an hour then on all folders.
Just want to be able to see sent items stuffThis was a user issue. The webmail account I have stored the Mails other folders under personal folders and there I found that my sent mail had been getting sync'd.
The answer is on the server not the OS Mail -
Apple mail - sent item duplicates
I have two computers with osx 10.4 installed.
Each has a unique imap account. Somehow, within the last few months some sent message (particularly ones with attachments) are duplicated in the sent items folder.
I setup a rule that emails the person sending the email a copy of the same message. Sure enough, when an email is drafted and sent 'once' it occasionally sends twice to the recipient.
This happens most often when an attachment is included with the email, but not always.
Any ideas?
I have rebuilt mailbox indexes and installed all current updates.Hi s_smith, and a warm welcome to the forums!

I posted in October my problems with iMac mail in that some emails I send do not appear in my Sent folder. In fact they do not appear anywhere, trash, junk, bulk mail etc. In the case of business emails this can prove to be serious. I have spent a total of nearly five hours on the phone to Apple at considerable cost. In each case they took over my PC but still the problem persists. I did learn during these sessions that the mail service on iMac is different from that on iPhones and iPads where my same email service (Sky Yahoo) works perfectly.
Why can't Apple come clean and accept this systemic fault on iMacs mail (others have reported it also) and really do something to put it right? I have spent nearly £1,200 plus phone calls on my iMac and certainly expect it to put Sent emails into my Sent folder. There is a fault obviously with the iMac mail service which I thought Yosemite had corrected but it is still hiding some Sent emails although not quite as bad as at one time - may be one in ten. But it is always that one ing ten which is the most important.Try rebuilding the mailbox. This can take awhile if you have a lot of mail.
Rebuild mailbox
Two possible workarounds.
1. If the account is an IMAP account, Mail/Preferences/Accounts/Mailbox Behaviors - see if there is a Store send messages on server option.
2. CC/BCC yourself and then create a mailbox under On My Mac where you can drag sent e-mails to for storage.
Send Apple feedback. They won't answer, but at least will know there is a problem. If enough people send feedback, it may get the problem solved sooner.
Mail Feedback
Or you can use your Apple ID to register with this site and go the Apple BugReporter. Supposedly you will get an answer if you submit feedback.

How can I clear out old apple mail sent items?
If I delete them, they just move over to mail trash. If I try to empty the trash it toggles the same mail back to the sent folder?
Mail/Preferences/Accounts/Mailbox Behaviors - check to see if store sent messages on server is checked. You can also set a delete time there.

E72 IMAP email sent items sync broken - Tech Suppo...
After a frustrating 30 mins on the phone with a level 2 tech support and being fobbed off with an unnecessary patch for MfE I emailed tech support
“i have an imap email account with GMX set up on my e72 using nokia messaging. it sends and receives email fine. however, any email sent from my phone goes into the sent items folder on my phone, but not into the sent items on my email account. there is no option to tell the phone which folder to use as the sent items folder”
The reply was
“In response to your concern, please be advised that the phone's function to save your sent email to the phone's sent items folder and not on the email sent item folder is a default setting which cannot be altered.“
Brilliant eh? I have asked if there will be a fix in future firmware, but no response. This is a serious issue for anyone using the E72 for email.
I know I am not alone. Will keep you updated if I get anything elseCheck this lot and tell me its not a Nokia problem.
