Mail service SSL doesn't work after migration

Well, the migration worked well, EXCEPT that I cannot get SSL to work for the mail service.
The same SSL certificate that works fine for the web service doesn't seem to work properly for mail. Prior to the in place upgrade, everything was fine, now, mail clients get the message that certificate may have been issued by an unknown authority -- BUT ONLY FOR IMAP and POP. Using the same certificate for SMTP seems to work just fine.
My working theory is that at one point I had to reissue the certificate completely, and that somehow, Cyrus was using the older certificate and private key, and that during the migration, things got really hosed.
Is there any way to get the new dovecot service to use the same cert? The GUI suggests it is, but I suspect some command line trickery may be needed.
On one final note: how does one run Keychain First Aid on the system keychain?

For reasons I cannot explain, dovecot.conf contains a line commented out specifically excluding the CA chain file -- saying it usually isn't required.
Removing the comment from this field (the installer generated a new file and created it on the disk, it's just commented out) resulted in SSL magically working again.
Now the bigger question: why was option in the dovecot.conf file intentionally disabled, even though the correct information (correct imported file path, correct imported files) were populated?

• Windows users doesn't work after migrating from old to new server!

We have done a complete re-install on our XServe with OD. We have about 10 Windows users, and after the installation all their settings and mail are gone. All the "normal" files are there though.
I'm not sure we have done it the right way though: We did a backup from the old server (a bootable copy with Super Duper), then we formatted and installed everything. We made new accounts (with different names if that's good to know) and copied the users home folders to the new location. The Mac clients seem to work good, but all the settings on the Windows clients are gone...
Is there an easier way to this? We still have the workable copy from the old installation. There seems to be some kind of export/import way to do this, but I haven't got a clue how to do that...
Please help!

davidh,
We didn't reintegrate smb.conf, but set the new server up just like the old one. We did however compare these files to see that the vital parts (netlogon, shares and so on, and of course basic settings) were correct.
We also copied the user files and profiles and made them identical on the new server, except for placing them under the new usernames.
Regarding the Local Settings folder, it doesn't exist on the old server, that's one of the weird things. We've checked the profile for a user on the client machine, and it is a roaming profile. That's why we're a bit puzzled as to why the login works and all files are there, but the user preferences and Outlook doesn't work.
I know I've read somewhere that the Local Settings aren't replicated like the other files in a roaming profile, but I haven't finished checking up on that. I wouldn't expect anything else than that Windows takes care of Outlook e-mail for a roaming profile as well though; I mean, the user must be able to read his/her mail from any computer in the domain, what else would the purpose of a roaming profile be?
Except for the weird thing about us not being able to find the user preferences or Outlook files for the client amongst the files on the server, I feel we're missing something; Apparently Windows isn't as straight forward as one would expect (not sure why I did expect anything, come to think of it).
We're going to give it a new go next weekend. Except for doing further research we're thinking of copying /etc/smb.conf and the files in /var/samba and /var/db/samba to the new server, along with exporting and importing the old user accounts to the new server, and then see if everything works as expected.
If so, we'll see if we can change the account names in a nice way, it's really desired to do so.
If not, we really need to do some more research, but if I'm not mistaking, the Samba-related files I just mentioned are the ones that pretty much make up the Windows Services in OS X, isn't that so?
Thanks!

Dear experts:
We started to migrate from WLP7.0 to 7.02(Service Pack 2).
After that, the following code in JSP doesn't work anymore. It did workbefore
we do migration.
<webflow:setProperty property="CHANNEL_ID" value="CHANNEL_NAME"scope="session"
namespace="main"/>
It genrate the exception like this:
javax.servlet.jsp.JspException: Invalid argument to pipeline sessionsetter method

etPropertyTag.java:68)
at jsp_servlet.__splash._jspService(splash.jsp:180)
We did replace all the jars within our Enterprise App, and all the jsptags within
our web application. But we could not figure out what's happenning here.
Any help would be great appreciated.

• Mail in Mavericks is not working after migrating from MBA to new MBP

I've just bought a shiny new 15" MBP and migrated the installation from my MBA. After tweaking a few settings, pretty much everything seems to be working fine, except Mail.app. Not only won't it install any Gmail accounts, it won't even add my iCloud mail. The accounts exist in System Preferences / Internet Accounts and sync with my other devices & computers, but won't show in Mail on the MBP, along with a couple of POP accounts. When I sign the MBP out of iCloud, I can add the miscellaneous accounts, but no Gmail or iCloud. Does anyone have any advice? I have installed Airmail to get me by, but I'd like to be using Mail on all my devices, just for consistency.

The warranty entitles you to complimentary phone support for the first 90 days of ownership.

• Compressor doesn't work after migrating

I just bought a new MacPro 2.66 Quad Core and migrated everything from my old Mac Pro (Dual). I had to re-enter my FCP serial - FCP works fine. Compressor does open but when I want to submit a job it tells me "unable to submit to queue", make sure compressor is installed correct. Any clue? Since I hace compressor 3.0.5 installed I hate to go back to the DVD's.

ProApps work better with a fresh install. Migrating has been known to cause problems. But since you're already there, try this: http://www.digitalrebellion.com/compressor_repair.htm

• Mail and iCal doesn't work after restart

Hello, after rebooting my Macbook Air I can't use Mail and iCal, which is starting automatically in the background. Please help me. Thanks

Try these things:
First, restart the computer, test. If the problem persists:
Test in a new user; if the problem persists, reinstall your OS (boot up the computer holding "option". Click Recovery HD, then click "reinstall Mac OS X". This will not delete your data, but I'd recommend a backup beforehand anyway, just in case). You can also click "Disk Utility" in the Recovery HD, and attempt to repair your boot disk (Macintosh HD), and restart and test before reinstalling.
If the problem does not happen in a new user, try pulling the preference lists for the two programs. You can find these by clicking Finder, going to the Go menu, hold option and click Library. Click Preferences, then scroll down to "com.apple.mail.plist" and "com.apple.ical.plist". There should be a few of each, pull these to the trash. Restart and test. If the problem still happens:
Safe boot the computer by starting up holding Shift. Test. If the problem still happens, there is some interference from a third-party program, and you might need to disable or uninstall it. You can disable third-party items on startup by going to Apple menu>System Preferences>Users and Groups, then clicking "login items", and removing (not un-checking) the third-party programs from the list. I'd remove anything that isn't absolutely necessary to start up when the computer launches. Note: This does not delete or uninstall a program, but only prevents it from opening when the computer first boots up.
Restart and test.
If the problem still happens, reply and list the steps you have done.
Good luck!

My Mail server doesn't work after upgrading from SL to ML
Mail client connects with the Mail Server wich seems to run but then they can't receive any email...

• Has anyone got Push mail to work after migration t...

Has anybody sucessfully got Push mail working after migration from BT Yahoo mail to the new BT Mail server?
I'm still on the old BT Yahoo mail server and Push mail works fine on my iPhone
But people have told me that once migrated to the new BT Mail server, Push mail isn't available
BT tell me that it is, but there's a couple postings on the web saying Push mail won't work
So, my question is, is there somebody out there who who has been migrated to the new BT Mail server and who can confirm they can still get their @btinternet.com address post-migration to work as Push mail on their iPhone or ipad devices?

There is no push mail on BTMail. Once you have been migrated to BTMail you will need to have your devices fetch emails. There is apparently no plans to change this.

• After downloading Firefox, my e-mail spell check doesn't work

for years I had used IE. I recently installed Firefox and now my e-mail spell check doesn't work. The dictionary is loaded but cannot figure out how to resolve this. It still works when using IE, so am assuming it's a Firefox glitch.

Do you have a dictionary installed and selected?
* You can see which dictionary is selected if you right-click in a text area and open the Languages submenu.
* Open the "Add Dictionaries" link to install a dictionary if you do not have one.
* Make sure that [X] "Check Spelling" in the right-click context menu is check-marked.
You can enable or disable spell checking globally:
* Tools > Options > Advanced : General: Browsing: "Check my spelling as I type"
You can look here for dictionaries:

• IMac - Display doesn´t work after restart

My iMac 21 Display doesn´t work after restart. If I turn it off and 1 hour later I want use it again the iMac shows the white screen with the mac logo and then the display goes off. I connected an external display to check if the iMac was ON and with the external display I can login and do everything but the iMac Display doesn´t work .
If I turn it off and wait 3 or 4 hours and then turn it back on the display works OK.
This is very strange behavior I have spent hours and hours trying to fine the solution or a similar issue but nothing so I am looking help here at apple.com
BTW When I bougth the iMac 21 there were some spots over the display so the display was replaced by the provider. The warranty has expired by now.

To tell you the truth, I don't know if they have to repalce the LCD panel or what they do for a bad backlight. In this reality of block or assembly replacement it probably involves repalcing the panel and not the backlight component. Don't know what it would cost. You'd have to ask that of a service center.

• [Solved] Network doesn't work after hibernate?

Hello! This is my first legit Linux install so excuse me if I'm a bit slow. I installed Arch last night and everything went smoothly. However, after I tested out hibernate on my machine, the network doesn't seem to work. Just prior to the hibernate, I installed Pidgin and Skype but they worked alright, so I think that the hibernate caused a problem on eth0.
I have an Asus P8Z68-V Pro motherboard with an Intel 82579V Gigabit Ethernet Controller that's using the e1000e driver. Running "dmesg | grep e1000e" says that it is up.
I'm not entirely clear here, but from reading, I think that I have several ways of connecting to the network, including network, dhcpcd, networkmanager, and wicd. I am using wicd so I did the following (or at least I think I am only using wicd):
#rc.d stop network
#rc.d stop dhcpcd
#rc.d stop networkmanager
Similarly, I put a ! in front of network in rc.conf:
# /etc/rc.conf - Main Configuration for Arch Linux
# LOCALIZATION
# LOCALE: available languages can be listed with the 'locale -a' command
# DAEMON_LOCALE: If set to 'yes', use $LOCALE as the locale during daemon

Restarting eth0 through wicd-cli still did not work. I also tried resuscitating the network via instructions on the configure network page before trying to focus solely on wicd.
I found a few similar problems on the forums by searching "wicd hibernate" and tried several solutions but they did not work. Several problems seem to be that the network doesn't work after a suspend because I guess the stuff in RAM did not get saved? But people were able to restart the network by running "/usr/lib/wicd/autoconnect.py" and I wasn't able to get this to work. As a final effort, I added "resume" into mkinitcpio.conf and placed the machine into sleep again to see if it may magically reset something but of course this did not happen .
mkinitcpio.conf:
# vim:set ft=sh

Not sure if my fstab.conf is useful but if this has something to do with settings getting "lost" in swap, here it is. Linux is on an SSD and HDD (sda and sdc) and Windows 7 is on a HDD (sdb).
fstab.conf:

Is wicd causing these problems or did I configure something else improperly? Would appreciate any help to get eth0 up again!

Ok, I think I've made some progress! Hibernate definitely affects my network connection. Could this be a kernel 3.0 problem?
I noticed that ifconfig showed eth0 without an inet addr, just an inet6 addr for the longest time. e1000e seemed to be loading up ok. I'm not certain here, but I think that meant the dhcp settings didn't stick, or something along those lines.
Trying to use dhcpcd like the instructions here did not work. By some chance, one attempt did work and while it did, I downloaded and installed dhclient. After that one successful attempt, renewing the DHCP lease via dhcpcd did not work again.
Luckily though, I found that running "dhclient eth0" worked. My DHCP settings seemed to have somehow gotten messed up after my initial, problematic hibernate to the point where none would stick, even after a reboot. Manually typing in "dhclient eth0" would get eth0 working, so I decided to add it to the bottom of /etc/rc.local, like in the example on the networking page.
Now, eth0 works after a boot. However, after the daemons load up during the boot process, my computer takes a long time to get to the login prompt (this is relatively speaking, since I am on a SSD and the boot process used to be blazing fast before). I'm pretty sure it's because I added "dhclient eth0" to /etc/rc.local.
I should say that even with these changes, after a hibernate, my eth0 still does not work and if it weren't for the edit to /etc/rc.local, eth0's inet settings would still not stick after a reboot (that is to say, the hibernate does do something to my network settings).
Is this the correct/most efficient way to fix my DHCP problem? Can I fix my "eth0 after hibernate" issue? Also, can I make my DHCP settings boot up without changes to /etc/rc.local so that I can get a fast boot again (still not sure how it was able to work before without my edit)?

• Wake up doesn't work After IOS 7 with my Philips clock radio AJ3270D

Wake up doesn't work After IOS 7 with my Philips clock radio AJ3270D!
The other function is OK(listen music like an Ipod or charge)
Can you help me?

Apple did update their help section on the app. I found this trying to figure out why my Find Friends wasn't working after the update to iOS 7.
"Find My Friends is turned on in Background App Refresh (in Settings > General in iOS 7). When Background App Refresh is turned off, Find My Friends can’t use Location Services in the background. If Background App Refresh is turned on, but you quit Find My Friends via the multitasking interface, location updates won’t be sent to your friends until you open the app again."
Hopefully Apple will update this as it was not this way prior to iOS 7. Killing the app didn't prevent your location from updating in iOS 6 as I constantly killed the apps running in the background and never had this problem till the update. Hope this helps! Just make sure to not kill the app as of now and to tell everyone you follow not to kill their app and locations will continue to refresh. Otherwise it won't update locations till the app is opened again.

• Macbook air adoble flash player doesn't work after installation

macbook air adobe flash player doesn't work after installation

If you're sure you've installed the latest version of Flash, take each of the following steps that you haven't already tried. After each step, relaunch Safari and test. For a "missing plug-in" error, start with Step 7. Back up all data before making any changes.
Step 1
You might have to log out or reboot before a Flash update takes effect.
Step 2
In the Safari preference window, select
Privacy ▹ Remove All Website Data
Close the window. Then select
 ▹ System Preferences… ▹ Flash Player ▹ Advanced
and click Delete All. Close the preference pane.
Step 3
If you're only having trouble with YouTube videos, log in to YouTube and load this page. You may see a link with the text "Leave the HTML5 Trial." If so, click that link.
Step 4
If you get a warning of a "blocked" or "outdated" plug-in, then from the menu bar select
 ▹ System Preferences… ▹ Flash Player ▹ Advanced
and click Check Now. Quit and relaunch the browser.
If the warning persists, triple-click anywhere in the line below on this page to select it:
/System/Library/CoreServices/CoreTypes.bundle/Contents/Resources
Right-click or control-click the highlighted text and select
Services ▹ Open
from the contextual menu.* A folder should open. Inside it, there should be a file named "XProtect.meta.plist". If that file is missing and you know why it's missing, restore it from a backup or copy it from another Mac running the same version of OS X. Otherwise, reinstall OS X.
*If you don't see the contextual menu item, copy the selected text to the Clipboard by pressing the key combination command-C. In the Finder, select
Go ▹ Go to Folder...
from the menu bar and paste into the box that opens (command-V). You won't see what you pasted because a line break is included. Press return.
Step 5
Open this folder as in Step 4:
/Library/Internet Plug-Ins
Delete the following item, or anything with a similar name, if present:
Flash Player (failing).plugin
You may be prompted for your login password.
Step 6
Re-download and reinstall Flash. Download it from the domain "get.adobe.com". Don't click a link from any other website, including this one, because you can't trust links. They may be an attempt to trick you into installing malware masquerading as Flash. Type the address into the browser window. Never download a Flash update from anywhere else.
Step 7
If you get a "missing plug-in" error, select
Safari ▹ Preferences... ▹ Security
from the Safari menu bar and check the box marked
Allow (or Enable) plug-ins
Then click the button marked
Manage Website Settings...
if present and make sure that the website is not blocked for Flash.
Step 8
Select
Safari ▹ Preferences... ▹ Extensions
from the Safari menu bar. If any extensions are installed, disable them.
