Mail settings: Where's my trash?

I don't know where my deleted emails are. I do not have a "Trash" mailbox on my iPod Touch.
The iPod Touch 4th Gen. manual says: Go to Settings>Mail, Contacts, Calendars>[select the account]>tap Advanced, and choose a location for Drafts, Sent, and Deleted mailboxes. But when I'm in "Advanced" the only option available is to choose how long messages remain once deleted - I can't find how to make the Deleted or Sent or Draft boxes visible.
Can anyone help?

I had similar problem with iPad and it turns out my trash was being sent to my server.
The problem was rectified by going to:
Settings
Mail, contacts, calendar
Click on the account where emails from
Account
Advanced
Under mailbox behaviours click deleted mailbox
under on my iPad Tick trash.
This solved my problem. Maybe it's similar for you.

  • Where are the e-mail settings?

Hi, I have an E72, I have set up a POP3 e-mail server and I can receive e-mails with no problem, but I cannot send any! Now, I know how to solve the problem, I simply have to change the outgoing port number to the new one given by my e-mail provider, but I CANNOT FIND WHERE ARE THE OUTGOING SERVER SETTINGS!
The E-mail -> Settings -> Mailbox name -> Mailbox settings tab only has one server setting in it, and it says "Server name". There are no separate settings for Incoming and Outgoing servers! Where can I change them? In the Advanced mailbox settings there is only one setting - for the port number, but again not a thing about which are my ingoing and outgoing servers.
    Pls help.
    Solved!

    thanks albyzas, thanks thetao.
I have the last version (3.21 I think) and I know where the in/out settings should be located, but here is no such thing under the "Advanced Mailbox Settings"! The only settings I have are the port number and the secure connection on/off. I have this problem since I bought the E72. Previously, I had E71 and it had the in/out settings there!
BTW the provider I use is listed automatically for my country, just below Hotmail, Gmail and Yahoo (I don't have to click "Other")
    So I have some questions:
    2) Delete and remake the mailbox.  Don't use Nokia Messaging (their push service) by Declining the terms of service.  Maybe that provides more control?
If I decline them, what client will I be using then?
    3) Can you remove the email client?  I hesitate suggesting that because some people have reported being unable to reinstall...but you can try if you feel daring.
If I remove it, how can I reinstall it later?
    4) Do you recall when the problem started?  If it happened after a firmware update, a hard reset ( *#7370# , default password 12345) will sometimes fix weird issues that occur after installing new firmware.  Be sure to make a backup first.
The Problem started when my e-mail provider decided to change the numbers of their ports several months ago...

  • Unable to open "compose mail/settings/contacts" in standard view in 2 out of 3 Gmail accounts

Unable to open "compose mail/settings/contacts" in standard view in 2 out of 3 Gmail accounts. When "compose new mail" is selected "loading...." appears at the top then the page is frozen. ie you can't select inbox etc. Changing from standard to basic h/ml then clears the Loading... and gmail can be used (without spellcheck etc).
This might not be Mozilla, but I can access these accounts in standard view on another computer.

Your Gmail account may well be an IMAP account, just like the iCloud mail account. In which case it will work in just the same way as iCloud mail, except that you will have to set it up manually on each device, where as iCloud mail adds the account itself when you log into iCloud.
Whilst it works the same as iCloud mail it isn't iCloud that syncs it for you.

  • Bugs? can't change the time ... Can't view all mail settings

Am I the only one with this problem? I changed my iPhone with an I phone 3G.
when I go to change the time... it sends me back to the main screen. same with mail settings. I am running on ver 2.1.

Go to Settings > General > International > Region Format
I selected United States and then was able to set my Date & Time no problem. What was interesting was that my region format was set to English but there is no option for English only UK or US. That's probably where the bug was.

  • How to recover mail settings in Yosemite

I am running a number of mac computers all having the same IMAP email accounts on them. I had an issue with two of the mail accounts where the emails were getting stuck in the outbox. I read a couple of posts that suggested deleting the mail boxes and starting again. I did this, but low and behold, when i inputted the mail settings again they did not work at all. I messed about with it for a day and even tried apple support (I have an apple care pack) but they couldn´t help me. All i want to do is recover my mail settings from the last time I knew they were working fine, I have a time machine (one apple official one and two other external hard drives that I use as time machines, just in case)
any ideas? i´ve searched the forums but no one has had this issue resolved via TM recovery and Yosemite.
    Many thanks
    Dave

Hi Dave, I have this issue too and wondered if you had to call your Internet Service Provider or how you solved your dilemma.

  • Server Admin cannot update any mail settings on nearly fresh 10.4 server

I can no longer use the Server Admin application to change settings under Mail (and I need to make some changes - would like to change logging settings and require authentication for SMTP). I made some initial settings with no problems, but now it chokes...
For example, I click on Mail, Settings, Advanced... and then try to click the box to require Kerberos Authentication for SMTP-- everything is normal until I hit SAVE. Then there is a delay of 10 or 15 seconds, followed by the error message:
"A connection with a server or service was lost. Try to disconnect from XServe.local and then reconnect, or contact your network administrator."
At this point the mail indicator is red, not green... after clearing the message the changes I've made to settings appear intact, but if I quit server admin the truth comes out... I'm asked would I like to save changes, if I say yes the error will repeat-- I have to quit without saving. Relaunching Server Admin reveals that indeed the changes have not been made.
I've heard of this type of problem when hand editing config files, but I've not done that with any mail-related files (I made two minor changes to a http config file a while ago, otherwise it's all been through Server Admin).
Is there any way to reset the mail-related files so that Server Admin will return to life, or do I have to reformat the drive and reinstall OS X 10.4.4 hoping it doesn't happen again?
By the way, the problem started a few days ago, and the upgrade to 10.4.4 didn't magically cure it.

I'm having the same problem (and updating to 10.4.5 did not fix it either).
In my case, it takes 30 seconds for the "A connection with a server or service was lost." to come up; I have a lot of mailing lists, and was wondering if it was some sort of timeout value on the server admin server end. (I hope that Server Admin doesn't write out every mailing list's membership every time you change any Mail setting!)
You can make some changes using the serveradmin command line tool. For example, I noticed this problem when trying to turn on log-rolling.
First, to find the appropriate command:
sudo serveradmin settings mail > mailsettings
    I grepped for "log":
grep "log" mailsettings | grep -v mailman
(grep -v mailman drops any mailman settings, such as all of the users where "log" appears in their e-mail address)
    And found:
    mail:postfix:logrolling_daysenabled = no
    I then ran the command:
sudo serveradmin settings mail:postfix:logrolling_daysenabled = yes
to turn log rolling on. Quitting Server Admin and getting back into it showed that logrolling_daysenabled was enabled.
So that might be a temporary solution for simple changes.
In my case, this is a very fresh server: purchased and put into play over a period of three weeks. It worked until I copied the mailing lists over, but a small number of mailing lists copied did not trigger the error. This is what leads me to believe there is some kind of timeout happening.

  • Poll: Mail settings changes by itself

Now I want to make a poll to know how frequent this bug is:
Mail is unexpectedly changing settings in the "Preferences"-"Accounts"-"Advanced" from "Password" to "APOP"
(When this happens Mail is immediately asking for "Password"and nothing works anymore)
This applys to POP-accounts where the ISP-provider tells you that the setting is supposed to be set to "password".
Please reply to this subject to confirm the frequency of this bug.
    Michael

I got this problem after istalling Leopard ( clean). Mail settings for password can´t be saved and changes itself to apop. And then mail asks for password when I open mail. This is a problem specific to pop accounts. Beccause it affects popusers all over the wolrd this is an apple issue BUG!!!!
I have tried all remedys suggested, changing intervals for mailchecking, new account, keychain, etc etc but nothing works. There are many more having this bud.
There are two other topics about this a.o mail not remembering pazzword.
I.M.H.O it could be worth to tell your ISP provider that you can´t use their APOP because Apple is refusing to react about this bug. So we don´t even know if there is a fix going on.
APPPLE officials! -Good morning! It´s time to get up and go to work!!!-

  • In mail settings is not listed sent fodera (imap)

Differently by my IMac and IPhone, on my IPad seems not to be possible to sync sent mails with imap server because in "settings" are only available trash and drafts folders but not The sent one.
Furthermore in Mail in each account are listed more copies of the same incoming folder...
All the settings on gmail server are right infact I already correctly set all other devices.
    Tank you for helping!!!;)

Thanks for your response. The sent mails are stored on server, and deleted is sent to Never. No rules that would impact sent emails. I do have rules, but they are pertained to moving emails to projects folders after assigning tags to them. I did a spotlight search, and the sent emails are not found by spotlight. Apparently, my email program has been doing this off and on for some time; I just did not realize it because I have not cleaned out my sent box in the past 6 weeks or so. As such, I have just turned off the option to save emails to server, and everything is saving fine locally. I really do want to be able to save my emails to the .mac server though, as I don't always have my computer with me, and may need to access something that I sent to someone. Thanks for your time.

  • Third party E-mail settings

I use work e-mail from home where I use Verizon FIOS for internet connectivity. I've been having problems sending e-mails recently from my work domain. I'm trying to find the most current third party e-mail settings I should use in my Outlook program to be able to send and receive work e-mails on my work domain.
All FAQs I see related to this subject are dated back in 2009. Is that info still correct or is there new information we should be using for third party e-mail accounts. I'm trying to verify not only ports to be used but also proper setup to send e-mail through FIOS on my work domain. Thank you!

As I said the fact that 110 seems to work and 995 doesn't PROBABLY mean you haven't turned SSL on in Outlook (lots of version of Outlook by the way).
The step by steps are described for various version of Outlook on pages off http://verizon.com/emailsettings
The settings are the same in any case and summarized as
Outgoing server smpt.verizon.net 465 SSL plain text password required
Incoming server pop.verizon.net 465 SSL plain text password required
    Outlook 2010
    Outlook 2007
    Outlook 2003
    Outlook 2002
And of course it still may be restrictions by your Employer.  e.g. my former company blocked ALL email they could except using their EMAIl.   They had to under the law as they were required to keep  copies of all emails to be presented in case of Government enquires.

  • What happened to the "show" option in mail settings (ipad2)?

WWhat happened to the "show" options in mail settings (ipad2 8.1.1)?

    Nothing at all.
It still works the same way for me as it always did. It might help if you specified which email provider you use - for instance I believe that Gmail has its own way of deleting/archiving emails so you need to be more specific than ..."what happened to the trash option in the new iOS mail".

  • E7-00 can't change e-mail settings

I'm running sw 022.014 anna with the first service pack from sw updater.
I wanted to check my email account settings to make sure that they're valid since my emails are not going through. This is what I get:
    I go to the E-mail-Settings-My Inbox-Account settings.
I get settings for mail address, pw, mailbox name, signature info, name, read status and limits.
Where can I check for SMTP server settings like server name, port and ancryption?

    @minumant
Admittedly this is upon N8 a similar device but as you don't mention Incoming and Outgoing Mail Settings perhaps it is different upon your E7:

  • Need some help with Mail settings

I need some help on what mail settings to use. Basically I want my Mac's Mail.app synced with my iPhone's mail.app and everything on the gmail server to be archived and have it so that i do not need to download all the archived emails that are on gmail to either mail.app, if anyone could help it would be appreciated.

You are not alone. I can't get mail to work with our exchange server no matter what I do. I set Entourage up in less than 2 minutes by entering some simple information. I am using the latest versions of Leopard and Mail and it just refuses to connect.
For instance, in Entourage I entered my user name, password and the exchange server name and that was it. Got my mail and it works great. Mail wants to know the SMTP server name? What SMTP server? No matter what information I put in that field it gives me an error saying it can'tr connect to the SMTP server. That is because it is an exchange server not an SMTP server I guess. Also, even when I enter the exact same information as I did with Entourage, mail refuses to connect with it saying to "check the connection". The connection works fine, as Entourage is having no problems sending or receiving mail. With Entourage there is a LDAP setting but no where in Mail can you enter what the LDAP server is. At least is doesn't use that terminology anywhere.
What do you have to do to get Mail to work with an exchange server?

  • What is this "cube" icon in Outlook Mail in place of the trash can delete icon.

What is this "cube" icon in Outlook Mail in place of the trash can delete icon.

Is it a gmail account ? If so then you've probably got archiving enabled on the account in Settings > Mail, Contacts, Calendars - in which case you should be able to change it back to a trashcan : http://support.apple.com/kb/HT4207

  • I don't understand how to sync settings in mail settings to fill lesser number of emails in my inbox

i don't understand how to sync settings in mail settings to fill lesser numbers of emails in my inbox

OK and when I run desktop manager then what do I do?  There are no instructions after this setup with my mobile carrier, they just leave me hanging.  Also, is my phone going to be wiped or will it just update the OS?  I don't want to lose all my settings that took me hours to setup on this thing and have to redo everything all over again.  Backup?  I don't understand how to do that either (again all of this is new to me).  I don't have a second phone where I can call T-Mobile on the phone and have them walk me through it, I only have my cell that's it.  They refuse to give me instructions unless I'm on another phone when I call them, why they won't let me write them down is beyond me...these carriers are getting mighty picky these days on customer service/technical support.

  • Mail settings keep disappearing

Randomly, the 'view' mail settings keep disappearing. I'll set them to show date recieved, date sent, etc etc and once or twice a day, Mail will revert to having no settings and I have to reset.
    Not serious, just annoying
    Thanks
    Bruce Black

Your Preferences file could be corrupted. Try quitting Mail and go to Users/Library/Preferences and look for the com.apple.mail.plist file; drag it to your Desktop. Now relaunch Mail and set those parameters again, then quit Mail.
Relaunch Mail and see if your parameters stayed this time. If they do, then you can Trash the old preferences file on your Dekstop.
