Mail setup help - cant see my mail

Ok I am using leopard and I have set up mail for the first time (I do not have a .mac account)
I have configured a 1and1.co.uk account via pop and that seems to work, i have downloaded and can view all my mail.
I tried setting up a googlemail account via pop and had some difficulty, after following googles online instruction I got mail to recognise my googlemail and go and check that I had 439 messages (not new just in there) but they are not listed in my mail - just that there are 439.
Can anyone help with this please?

The receiving email ports are:
IMAP is port 143
IMAP-SSL is port 993
POP is port 110
POP-SSL is port 995
Outgoing ports are...
SMTP and SMTP-SSL is on ports 25, 587 and 465. Port 587 has to be SSL, and port 465 is enforced TLS-wrapped and is generally used by Outlook users.

Outlook 2013 and exchange. Cant see new mail in subfolders.

In our company we have exchange 2010 with sp3 and all clients with windows 8.1 and Outlook 2013. Problem is that clients have problem with new messages in their mailboxes. they cant see new messages in subfolders. In Outlook 2010 everything worked fine,
and after migration to 2013 this problem started.
For example:
There is user mailbox. He have a lot of subfolders. All subfolders is for varies companies. So he created rules, then someone writes from campany, mail goes to its subfolder. Problem is that then user opens Outlook in the morning, he can't see that
new mails are arrived to those subfolders. User must open that subfolder and only then, inside that subfolder he can see unread message. But how user can know, that inside is unread mail? :) Sometimes everything works fine, and sometimes user can't see new
mails. Then he opens OWA, all new mails is marked as unread and there is number near subfolder with unread mail count.
And this problem repeats to all users. I updated exchange to SP3 update 6. Operating system and Outlook is up to date. Recreation of profile helps for a week or two (Or user do not notice problem), and after that user calls me again with the same problem.
And this happens not for one user but for all. Sometimes restarting Outlook helps, after restart number with unread mail count appears near subfolder. There is no addins or other changes in Outlook. Search folder is not a solution, because there is a lot of
subfolders, so it would be a mess.
Can you advice me? Where can be problem? Is it global for all users who are using exchange 2010 and Outlook 2013?

I tryed using search folder but this solution didnt helped. Then user opens Outlook he sees unread mail count near subfolder, and sum of unread mails in search
folder. But somefing happens and new mails does not appear neither in search folder neither near subfolders. But then client opens subfolder there are unread mails. In OWA everytime everything is OK. So user must check in OWA is there new mails and in which
subfolder, then he opens that subfolder in Outlook, and uhnread mail is here.
And another thing. Now one of clients have this problem. There is no count of new mails in subfolders, outlook does not show it, but OWA shows. In rules, client created few rules, near rules in action section,
there is icon, it looks like screwdriver and wrench, i went to propeties of those rules and removed "Stop processing more rules", and this icon disappeared. All rules updated to server, and after that, new messages counts appeared near few subfolders.
Is it possible that somehow this message count is combined with rules? Ant what does whis screwdriver and wrench icon means?

POP users cant see new mail on OSX 10.5 Server

Hi All,
I have just upgraded my 10.4 server to 10.5. I had to do a clean install due to some problems with the upgrade. My problem is, most of my POP3 users can not see any mail. The mail is being collected and can be accessed with the users login details via web mail. When the user login in using Outlook, it checks and finishes as if there is no new mail.
If the user reconfigures their mail client to IMAP is work just fine, but IMAP is not good for some of my users needs.
I found that there are no error messages at the user end, or on the server logs. Any help would be greatly appreciated.

I have exactly the same problem with some POP3 users that use as mail client Microsoft Outlook 2003 and 2007. Up to now I don't have problem with Apple and Linux clients. I found out that users in which the alias differ from the shortname in the Open Directory record (which is the first shortname and mailbox identity) can't see the incoming Mail. For example, if the first shortname is user0001 and the alias is tony, I set [email protected] as the email address and user0001 as the User Name in the login information of Microsoft Outlook Configuration.

I was reading another person changed their storage settings And I remember I had to do something with my manager so I went back to the flash manager to check my settings and I CANT SEE IT! It is a blank space......Please help.

Help - cante see developed images

Sorry about this one - there has to be a simple answer for a new user. I have exported developed images from RAW(NEF) to JPG and put them back in the same folder as my RAW files (I want to keep them together so I know where to find them) but Lightroom cant see them. I know they are there as Finder sees them and they open in Preview. Using MacPro & Lightroom 1.0, Mac OSx4. A quick answer?

Several things -
1) When you export to the same folder as the RAW, you would have to import to get the image back into LR. LR does not automatically read in files in one of its listed folders.
2) However this may not work - I know you can't get RAW and jpg from a camera card together into the same folder during import, because LR doesn't import two files of the same name (different extensions). This may be the problem in your case. If the jpg files are named differently, then item (1) applies to you.
3) Why do you want to reimport a jpg derived from a RAW in the library? That's not the LR philosophy! When you have edited a master file to a point where you want to "save" it, make a virtual copy of it. This is how you get a derivative file in the library. Better yet, whenever you begin editing a master (RAW in your case) with the goal of producing an image that you want to save, create a virtual copy first, then edit it. The idea is that a jpg is a format that you want to use in the "outside" world, like a file to print or one to attach to email. All of these "exports" should come from a negative (a master or virtual copy). But you shouldn't have to reimport one of these "exports".

Cant see some mail.. something about the email wasnt downloaded.. help..

Couple times a day, I get this message:
The message from "amber ruiz" <[email protected]> concerning “Customer Contact: Website Time-Out” has not been downloaded from the server. You need to take this account online in order to download it.
Not that exact message mind you, as its for different emails from different people. The only way to see the email is to restart mail. Then I can see it just fine. Anybody know why this is happening?

When I open the folder "INBOX.mbox" I see two items. One is a file called "Info.plist" , and the other is a Folder named "Messages". With-in that folder named "Messages" is nothing,,, it is empty. Which bothers me because I HAD 5 messages in that accounts box that I was holding on to because they said that thing (about not being downloaded from server, etc..)...
BUT then like I said, I "Rebuilt" that accounts mailbox thinking that would help me, but with no warning alert or anything, it just seemed to clean up that box and the messages just disappeared in front of my eyes !!
But I thought for sure they would still be somewhere on my hard drive.....
Am I mistaken ?? And because there is no files in that folder named "Messages" does that mean I have absolutely NO messages from that account to dig up from anywhere ??

Cant see my mail message

I know there is a simple anwser to this but i cant find it . On my mail page I use to see the list of mail to the top and the one I had high lighted I would see on the bottom of the page. Well some thing happen and now I only see the list of mail unless i open in new window can someone tell me how to fix it back so i dont have to open a new window.

Clear the cache and the cookies from sites that cause problems.
"Clear the Cache":
*Tools > Options > Advanced > Network > Offline Storage (Cache): "Clear Now"
"Remove Cookies" from sites causing problems:
*Tools > Options > Privacy > Cookies: "Show Cookies"
Start Firefox in <u>[[Safe Mode]]</u> to check if one of the extensions or if hardware acceleration is causing the problem (switch to the DEFAULT theme: Firefox (Tools) > Add-ons > Appearance/Themes).
*Don't make any changes on the Safe mode start window.

Mail setup help...Please!

I know there have been similar posts to this question, and I have tried the posted advice that I have seen and have not gotten the results I have been seeking. Here is my situation. Maybe I am missing something...
I use charter for my email. I have successfully been able to set up my charter account through Mail on my MacBook and in the past, iMac. Yesterday, I got the MacBook Pro (and ran all software and system updates). I have been trying ALL day to get my charter account set up through Mail (4.5) by talking with Charter (pointless) and Apple, very helpful but still unable to get it to work.
At this point...I am able to send emails and receive...however...to receive new emails, I have to close Mail and reopen. Clicking the "get mail" button does nothing.
Current settings:
Set up as IMAP account (POP recommended settings did not work at all)
Email address: full email
Incoming Mail: imap.charter.net
User Name: full email address
Outgoing Mail Server (smtp.charter.net) clicked to use only this server
Advanced: clicked use default ports
Use SSL: unchecked
Authentication: None
Advanced Tab
Enable this account: check
Include when auto checking new messages: check
Port: 143
Authentication: Password
I have changed the port to 110...that made my account go "offline" and could not get it to go back online. I have tried POP and used the recommended incoming as pop.charter.net w/ outgoing smtp.charter.net....that also resulted w/ the account being "offline" regardless. Additionally tried POP with mail.charter.net and smtp.charter.net with the same "offline" results.
Absolutely any suggestions or insights is GREATLY appreciated!

Had the same problem. I changed my incoming server to: imap.charter.net (Port: 110) with SSL checked: "on". Changed my outgoing to: smtp.charter.net (Port: 25) with SSL "off" or left blank or "none". It worked. Good luck! I used my whole email address where it asked for "User Name".

HT2500 Mail setup help.

Although I have never set up my Mail account it requests a password to access it (which I don't know) and won't give me the option to 'add account' or send a password reminder. Is there anything I can do to reset the password to be able to access Mail?

Any ideas what do to if that only deletes the mailbox from your list of mailboxes...not off the shortcuts bar?
I made the mistake of trying gmail imap, and now my phone is full of old messages (around 5000 of them), and i can't do a thing with it. Only had the thing a month and it's basically a glowing paperweight because I can't delete the old messages - i hit delete, and nothing happens.

Can I restore Mails that I still see in Mail from cache?

When I connected a new iPhone to my macbook (Os X Lion) Mail duplicated my email account. The "new" duplicate said all mails were new and unread and the account used some pop and smtp settings that had changed months ago. So I deleted the unwanted duplicate. Now, Mail seems to have deleted all the messages in both accounts.
Mail is still open. And I can see all my messages in the remaining "old" correct account. I can still see all the sender adresses, the title of the emails, even the text is displayed in the short overview in the left pane. When I maximize the left pane by shifting the "complete mail text pane" to the right the text displayed for each mail is even extended. So the info is still all out there somewhere in my cache. However I cannot open the single mails. He just can't load them.
I went to the apple store yesterday and they had a look but not the slightest idea how to deal with the problem.
I had a look at the mail library folder and except for the new mails I recieved after doomsday there is nothing at all. The "com.apple.mail" folder in the cache wasn't of any help either.
Has anybody an idea how to save/restore my mails as long as they exist in the ominous cache I didn't find yet?
It's just so annoying to see all the mails still in front of you, see the text and not knowing how to make a quick backup or restoration of them.

Why is the 'send' icon greyed out in mail? I cant send any mail.

Recently bought bought a Macbook pro so i'm new to this! My mail has been working fine both sending and receiving but recently the send icon is greyed out and I cant send anything! Any help would be appreciated.

Thanks for your reply. I tried it but it didn't work. After some playing around I found that the outgoing mail preferences had altered. Not sure why the setting changed but never the less its working again. Thanks again
