Mail shows attachment on desktop, but not on laptop

I have received emails than when I check MAIL on my Mac mini the message shows an attachment. I can read it, preview it, etc.  However, when I then check MAIL on my MacBook Pro the same message does not show it has an attachment.
Any insight is greatly appreciated.

I guess it turns out that upon attempting to register my iPod Shuffle, Apple says that I have a counterfeit item. Here's their reply to my registration:

  • 3G iPod Shows up on Desktop but not in iTunes

    I am having the same problem with my 3G iPod. It has been working flawlessly for many years but I tried to mount it and update my songs and it will show up on the desktop but not in iTunes. It does show up in the system profiler. I reset the iPod via the updater and keypresses. I trashed the plist files for the iPod and iTunes. Still nothing. I switched my firewire cables to different ports. Nothing.
    What was strange was that Yami-pod does not see it as an iPod either so it is not just iTunes.
    My iPod shuffle works just fine and mounts right away in iTunes.
    This is on my eMac where I store my music. I have not tested it yet with the Macbook.

    I tried hooking the iPod to the MacBook and it worked like a charm. I then moved the iPod back to the eMac and I still had the same problem. At my whits end I decided to zap the PRAM with the Command-Option-P-R trick and to my surprise the iPod launched iTunes and started syncing when I restarted the eMac.
    I had no reason to think that there could be a problem with the PRAM as I did not have any other problems but it does seem to have been the problem.

  • Mail shows up in sent but not in inbox

    just setting up the mail function - I am a mac.com member and using 10.3.9 - trying to send messages to myself to test it out. They show up in my sent folder but not in my inbox. Also - where should my mailboxes be located - under on my mac - or the other icon which mine is labeled home.
    As you can tell - I don't know what I am doing.

    In your Mail Preferences you have the option to forward your self the message you sent.
    By default it will only show up in the sent folder.
    The options that you have available will allow you to change these settings.
    Open your Mail and then click on the Mail Icon in the Menu Bar and then choose Preferences.

  • NANO SHOWS UP IN DESKTOP BUT NOT IN ITUNES

    I have a Mac OS X computer. When I plug in my iPod nano to the computer, it shows up on the desktop, but it will NOT show up in iTunes!!

    If you use USB instead of FireWire to connect, it won't appear in iTunes unless you update to Mac OS X 10.3.4 or later. If you can't update your software, then use FireWire instead. Note: iPod shuffle, iPod nano, iPod (5th generation), and iPod classic can only sync via USB.

  • Ipod classic shows on mac desktop, but not in itunes

    I have an ipod classic that connects fine to my dell computer (with Windows 7) but when I try to connect it to my MacBook Air it shows up on my desktop but won't connect to itunes. I've made sure I have the most current version of itunes, and have tried multiple ways of plugging it in and have restarted my computer, but I still can't get it to show up. Please help!

    Hello!
    You need to put your iPod into Forced Disk Mode and restore it using iTunes.
    Try resetting your iPod by following these steps:
    1. toggle to hold switch on and then off again
    2. press the Menu and Center/Select buttons together until the screen goes black (should take no longer then 30 seconds)
    3. as soon as you see the Apple logo let up on the buttons and press down the Center/Select and Play/Pause buttons until a checkmark appears on the screen.
    4. connect your iPod to your computer and restore thru iTunes

  • New mail shows up on iphone but NOT mail.app

    Not sure if this belongs here, sorry if its the wrong place.
    I have a mobile me email, and iphone, and an imac. when new mail comes in it shows up fine on iphone and when i FIRST launce mail.app. However, if a second email comes in, mail.app will not 'see it'. iphone will.
    how is this possible? and how do i fix it?
    thanks

    On my set up, with the mobile me sync panel set to automatic and mail accounts ticked, I recieve incoming mail instantly. (on phone and mac)
    Mail Accounts under the Sync tab for your MobileMe account settings is for syncing email account settings with the Mail.app between multiple Macs only. This has nothing to do with Fetching messages or new messages being pushed to the Mail.app or to the iPhone.
    The iPhone includes a Push setting, which can be turned on or off. Are you saying if you turn Push access off on your iPhone and leave Mail Accounts selected under the Sync tab for your MobileMe account settings on your Mac, new messages will be pushed to your iPhone with your MobileMe account even though Push access is turned off on your iPhone?
    +There is no setting at System Preferences > MobileMe under the Sync tab that has anything to do with the Mail.app.+
    +The Fetch setting for the Mail.app is at Mail > Preferences under the General tab.+
    +The Mail.app setting that allows for Push access with an IMAP account is available under the Advanced tab for the account preferences - use IDLE command if the server supports it.+
    The iPhone includes a Fetch setting, which is used if Push access is turned off. The iPhone includes a global push setting - on or off, and you can enable or disable push access separately for received messages, contacts and calendars with a MobileMe account. I don't have push access enabled for received messages with my MobileMe account on my iPhone, but I do have push access enabled for contacts and calendar events.

  • HT3951 I purchased a tv show on my iPad, and it shows up on desktop but not on my phone or Apple TV

    I have checked for downloads on the Apple TV but do not see anywhere where I can re down load purchased items. When I asked the iPad to play on the Apple TV it didn't work (it found it and said it was playing, but it wasn't on the screen)

    I had a similar issue with a purchase of tv shows on ipad, but they didn't show on other devices. I eventually got other devices to recognise them by changing the sort information to movie rather than tv show.  Select  'get info' on title in itunes and choose 'options' then change 'media kind' to movie.
    Hope this helps your situation.

  • E-Mail shows up on alert, but not under mail

    First time owner of an iPhone...I have the 4S.  I setup my personal and work e-mail.  The "front page" shows 100 new e-mails, but when I go into mail it is on the "welcome to mail" page.  I found one thread that suggests going into Settings...Mail, Contacts, Calendar...choosing account and then going into advance settings and directing e-mail to in-box...but there doesn't seem to be this option.  Any ideas?

  • Mail showing emails as 'sent' but not arriving with the recipient

    Hi, I have had this problem before and it seemed to clear itself up after a few weeks, but I wonder if there is some way I can clear it up now.
    I send emails from Mail as normal, and they are shown as 'sent'. But only some get through, and the majority don't. Is there some setting I can change, or some way I can see if my mails have arrived?
    Many thanks, Rose

    Same happened to me twice.  1 Message showed up days later.  also using iPhone

  • Mavericks Gmail account - new mail showing up in Archive but not in Inbox

    For a Gmail account, new mail seems to be showing up in the "Archive" folder for that account (which seems to be mapped to Gmail's "All Mail").
    However it isn't showing up in the Inbox for the account.
    The settings seem identical to another Gmail account where mail is showing up in the Inbox.
    Any thoughts of what I might do to get these mails to show up in the Inbox?
    Thanks,
    Doug

    I don't know. I've given up for now and am using Mailplane. I will be doing a write-up on it, but it seems to be working much better than Airmail even.
    The funny thing about using Mailplane, which is a lot more directly connected to Gmail than any of the other clients, is that for the first time I'm seeing that even the iOS Mail app, which I thought had no problems, is actually lagging quite a lot behind the actual Gmail contents!
    I think Mail.app is hopeless at this point. Maybe it's good if you want to transfer an an entire IMAP set of folders between accounts if you are migrating (as is Thunderbird). But basically it's become extremely unreliable under Mavericks. I can't believe Apple let it out of the door.

  • Plugin works on desktops but not on laptops

    Windows XP
    CS2
    It makes no sense for it to just not work on laptops, but this is the pattern I've seen so far. When it errors out on the laptops, I get a "Dr. Watson" error: "InDesign.exe has encountered a problem and needs to close..." When I look to see what the error report contains, it mentions "AppName: InDesign.exe AppVer: 4.0.5.688 ModName: widgetbin.dll ModVer: 4.0.5.688". I've Googled for "widgetbin.dll" but nothing looks relevant.
    I have put in MessageBoxes to see how far it gets in my plugin code. It exits the constructor but does not enter the AutoAttach (AutoAttach being the very next routine in my code that gets called on machines where the plugin does work), so I assume it is not being caused by any code I have written.
    I know this is not much to go on, but I welcome any suggestions.
    Thanks,
    Miles

    I have now installed Visual Studio 2003 on one of the laptops and this did not correct the problem. (I would be using VS 2005 but Microsoft's lousy wizard does not completely convert the 2003 project; it leaves errors including "external symbol not defined" or some such, so I got lazy and stayed with 2003).
    Anyway, I've stepped through the code on the laptop and it apparently gets caught when it tries to open an ADODB connection. I am using a Database class that #imports msado15.dll (this file exists in the same location on both machines), only because I found it easier to integrate into my plugin project than say, CDatabase, or System.Data namespace. The "m_Cnn->Open" in Database.cpp executes just before the comutil.h code, which is where it breaks on the laptop:
    Database.cpp
    bool Database::Open(char* UserName, char* Pwd, char* CnnStr)
    try
    HRESULT hr;
    hr = m_Cnn.CreateInstance( __uuidof( ADODB::Connection ) );
    m_Cnn->Open(CnnStr, UserName, Pwd, NULL);
    comutil.h
    inline _bstr_t::_bstr_t(const char* s)
    : m_Data(new Data_t(s))
    if (m_Data == NULL) {
    _com_issue_error(E_OUTOFMEMORY);
    On the laptop, it just enters "inline _bstr_t::_bstr_t", throws an Access Violation error, and then goes into disassembly. When comparing the variable values in the Autos window between the desktop and the laptop, everything looks the same up to and including the line where it breaks. I can't see any difference. For example, the previous line in Database.cpp, "hr = m_Cnn.CreateInstance( __uuidof( ADODB::Connection ) );" returns a "success" value on both machines.
    Still lost,
    Miles
