Mail shuts down after 3 secs on ipad 1

Can anyone help with this, my mail shuts down after approx 3 secs of opening on my ipad, have cleared all mail from desk top pc but still happens??

Try turning the account off and on : Settings > Mail, Contacts, Calendars , then tap the account on the right, slide Mail to 'off', exit settings and go back into the Mail app, and then go back to Settings and slide Mail back to 'on'
If that doesn't work then try closing the Mail app completely : from the home screen (i.e.not with the Mail app 'open' on-screen) double-click the home button to bring up the taskbar, then press and hold any of the apps on the taskbar for a couple of seconds or so until they start shaking, then press the '-' in the top left of the Mail app to close it, and touch any part of the screen above the taskbar so as to stop the shaking and close the taskbar.
Also do a reset : press and hold both the sleep and home buttons for about 10 to 15 seconds (ignore the red slider), after which the Apple logo should appear - you won't lose any content, it's the iPad equivalent of a reboot.

Have you tried closing the Mail app completely and then seeing if it works when you re-open it? From the home screen (i.e. not with Mail 'open' on-screen) double-click the home button to bring up the taskbar, then press and hold any of the apps on the taskbar for a couple of seconds or so until they start shaking, then press the '-' in the top left of the Mail app to close it, and touch any part of the screen above the taskbar so as to stop the shaking and close the taskbar.

  • Mail shut down after launch

Even after Recovery installation of OS X, Mail on ly worked one day before Mail again shut down after launch and receiving incoming mails. Any who have a functionally solution to fix this subject.

    Do a backup.
    Quit Mail.
Go to Finder and select your user/home folder. With that Finder window as the front window, either select Finder/View/Show View options or go command - J.  When the View options opens, check ’Show Library Folder’. That should make your user library folder visible in your user/home folder. Go to Library/Containers/com.apple.mail.  Move the folder com.apple.mail to your desktop. You must move the entire folder, not just the contents.
Restart, re-launch Mail and test. If the problem is solved, recreate any required Mail settings and import any emails you want to save from the folder on the desktop. You can then put the folder in the Trash. If the problem remains, return the folder to where you got it replacing the one that is there.

  • Mail Shuts Down After Opening

When I open my Mail, it shuts down after about 5 seconds. This has recently started happening. Could it be that some of my folders are too full? I barely have enough time to get to the folders since it shuts down so quickly.

    Hi Adamguy,
Sounds like a corrupted preference file.
    Open HD>Users>Your_Name>Library>Preferences folder
Now loo for the com.apple.Mail.plist and drag it to the desktop *DON'T TRASH IT*
    Now open Mail application again.
Is it still crashing ?? When Mail stays open than you can trash the Mail.plist file from the desktop to the trash can.
Post back with the results ...

  • Please help: programs shut down after 60 sec's

*Please help me:* Since two weeks or so (may be, after I updated my QuickTime), every program I opened *shuts down after roughly 60 seconds*. It is not closed but it gets out of the writing mode so that I need to click on the page first before being able to continue writing again (Word, email, also this thread). If I do not always look at my page I loose words and have to retype them again. Also, with backspacing it occurs: it gets out of the enter mode. I am not aware I changed anything in the user mode of my dear power book.
    Thank you for helping! rororoger

    Welcome to Apple Discussions.
Try starting up in Safe Mode. If can do so successfully, log in, Empty Trash, Restart normally and log in.
    If issue persists Repair Disk
Insert Installer disk and Restart, holding down the "C" key until grey Apple appears.
Go to Installer menu (Panther and earlier) or Utilities menu (Tiger) and launch Disk Utility.
Select your HDD (manufacturer ID) in the left panel.
Select First Aid in the Main panel.
(Check S.M.A.R.T Status of HDD at the bottom of right panel, and report if it says anything but Verified)
Click Repair Disk on the bottom right.
If DU reports disk does not need repairs quit DU and restart.
If DU reports errors Repair again and again until DU reports disk is repaired.
If DU reports errors it cannot repair you will need to use a utility like Tech Tool Pro or Disk Warrior

  • Shutting down after 10 sec of inacivity and can't put to sleep

New computer, have been using for about 1 month. Anyways, nothing I've noticed that could have trigerred this change...
When the computer is inactive for only 10 sec it will shut down. Losing all my unsaved data. Really annoying. I can't do anything. When writting an email, I can't stop tyoing because my computer will shut down.
I have also tried setting it to sleep but it will not. It only shuts down.
I have changed the Energy Save to a schedule. It does not work either.
Any ways to change the shutting down feature to never?

Are you certain you haven't downloaded/installed anything lately? It's not normal for the Macbook to shut down without warning and as frequently as what you describe. Is the battery fully charged - and the power supply shows a small green light on it? I'd suggest an SMC and Pram reset for starters (links below). After this, launch DIsk Utility (in Utilities Folder) and verify/repair both the hard drive and permissions.

  • Mail shuts down after creating POP account

Every time I set up my POP mail account using Mail version 2.1.3 on my iMac running OS X version 10.4.11 it shuts down when I try to get mail. After that it shuts down when I open it. I have to go in and delete the account immediately for it to remain open. I have the same setup on a MacBook running OS X version 10.5.6 without any problems. The setup is as follows:
    Account type: POP
    Description: jlsweden
    Email Address: (my email account)
    Full Name: (my name)
    Incoming Mail Server: mailin.telia.com
    User Name: (my email)
    Password: (email password)
    Outgoing Mail Server: mailout.telia.com
The port setting is 995. The Use SSL is checked and the Authentication is password. I'm not sure what else to do.
    jlsweden

Hi jlsweden, and a warm welcome to the forums!
First, Safe Boot from the HD, (holding Shift key down at bootup), run Disk Utility in Applications>Utilities, then highlight your drive, click on Repair Permissions, then move these +folder & file+ to the Desktop.
Move this Folder to the Desktop...
    /Users/YourUserName/Library/Caches/Mail/
Move this file to the Desktop...
    /Users/YourUserName/Library/Mail/Envelope Index
    Reboot.

  • Itunes shuts down after 2 sec. into import

    Gateway   Windows XP Pro

Sorry experiencing the same problem. I also have a Gateway computer. While importing I noticed that some songs will only be imported for 6 sec. but all the songs that follow will be imported completely. Now I can't import songs at all. iTunes freezes and slows down my computer. If you get an answer to your problem please let me know.

  • FSB Overclock, Computer shuts down after 15 sec

    Hello All,
I'm putting together a computer together with the K7N2 Delta board for a friend of the family.  It's a XP2800 chip, with a PNY GeForce Fx 5800, and 256 Crucial mem.  Here's my prob:
The processor wasn't running at full speed so I went into BIOS, changed bus speed to 200MHz.  It obviously should be set to 166MHz, which I learned later.  I was successfully able to set the jumpers for the bus speed back to Safe Mode at 100MHz and then boot back into the BIOS.  Now my problem is that the Motherbaord doesn't stay on more than like 30 secs without shutting off and the only way to restart it is to kill AC power to the board.  At which point, start it again and the process repeats itself.
Does this mean I fried the board and CPU?  I sure as hell hope not
    Thanks
    Lue

    Ok:
Power Supply is 400W max output, it came with the case.
    PNY GeForce FX5200 128MB DDR
    Crucial 256 DDR2100 Ram
    Standard Floppy
    LG CDRW
    Sony DWD+-RW
    WD 120 Gig Hd
    WD 40 Gig Hd
    SB Audigy2 MP3
The computer WAS working with everything in it. Loaded XP pro fine, did initial driver installs.  Then I went into the BIOS and set the buss to 200MHz.  Then the problems start.
Now, I also checked the CPU fan cause I saw other articles were the CPU was overheating and shutting the computer down.  I booted the it up and went into the PC Health in the BIOS and watched the CPU Core temp go to 45 celcius before I turned it off.  Could it be the comp is overheating and shutting down?
    Thanks again
    Luke

  • Why does my mail shut down after a few seconds on the ipad

Try rebooting the device.  Press the home and power buttons until the Apple icon appears.  Then let go.

then new little window " The program ist not correctly executes and will be closed"

    my OS is win 8.1
    mozilla browser
    ACER Laptop
AVAST virus protection up and running
    nobody complaints on the system
will try now on anothe laptop
anybody a clue - help is needed :-) thanks everybody

Try opening iTunes in safe mode (hold down CTRL+SHIFT as you start iTunes) then going to Edit > Preferences > Store and turning off Show iTunes in the Cloud purchases. You may find iTunes will now start normally.
If not try working through TS1717: iTunes for Windows Vista, Windows 7, or Windows 8: Fix unexpected quits or launch issues.
German version: iTunes für Windows Vista, Windows 7 oder Windows 8: Fehlerbehebung bei unerwartetem Beenden oder Startproblemen
Otherwise for general advice see Troubleshooting issues with iTunes for Windows updates.
The steps in the second box are a guide to removing everything related to iTunes and then rebuilding it which is often a good starting point unless the symptoms indicate a more specific approach. Review the other boxes and the list of support documents further down the page in case one of them applies.
Your library should be unaffected by these steps but there is backup and recovery advice elsewhere in the user tip.

  • Several Apps seem to just mysteriously shut down after using for a while. Same with Safari, I will be using Safari and it shuts down. Face book too. I've reset and shut down my iPad 3 and restart it, but it stills shuts down. What to do?

Several Apps seem to mysteriously shut down after using them for a while. Face Book shuts down , netflix, Safari, and other Apps. They work fine for a short while, or a long while, and then shut down and it brings me to my regular desktop screen. I've tried restarting by completely shutting down the IPad until I see the apple pic and turned it back on, but the shutdowns of apps continue. Anyone else have this issue? It generally started shortly after downloading and installing IOS 7......

    Hi jennyoutwest,
    Welcome to the Support Communities!
The following articles will provide some troubleshooting steps for your iPhone.
iPhone, iPad, iPod touch: Turning off and on (restarting) and resetting
    http://support.apple.com/kb/HT1430
If that does not resolve the issue, refer to page 146 in the iPhone User Guide to Reset All Settings:
iPhone User Guide for iOS 7
    manuals.info.apple.com/MANUALS/1000/MA1565/en_US/iphone_user_guide.pdf
The final troubleshooting step would be to restore your device:
    iTunes: Restoring iOS software
    http://support.apple.com/kb/ht1414
Restoring your device will delete all data and content, including songs, videos, contacts, photos, and calendar information, and will restore all settings to their factory condition. Before restoring:
Verify that you are using the latest version of iTunes.
    Back up your device.
Transfer and sync content to your computer.
    Cheers,
    - Judy

    2. Hold the Sleep and Home button down for about 10 seconds until you see the Apple Logo.
