Mail Signature issues

I'm having the exact issue described in this article:
http://theappleblog.com/2005/12/18/mail-signatures-suck/
I've tried all the solutions suggested in the comments (including http://discussions.apple.com/thread.jspa?messageID=1485526&#1485526 ) but none have helped.
As a general note, on my Dual 2Ghz G5, Mail is by far the buggiest app of the OS X suite. It often beachballs when I try to quit, necessitating a Force Quit. It also tends to lose my GMail SMTP account configs randomly.
I should probably also mention that I’m far from a “casual” Mail user; I have a half a dozen accounts of different types, IMAP server-side folders with thousands of messages and probably three dozen different rules. I also run it 24/7. So there's a lot going on that could be causing the problem. At the same time, I'm kind of hesitant to do a full reinstall or something and go through all that setup again.
Thanks in advance for any suggestions.

Your signature at the bottom of your post indicates that you are still at OS X 10.5.2. Is that correct?

  • Mail Signature Issues (multiple)

Cumulatively I have spend 20-30 hours trying to make a signature and continue to have issues (never see this experience in APPLE holiday commercials!). I have researched this Board and there are a few cross-overs, but I am including them all here to be complete. I am hoping someone at APPLE adds these to their list and addresses the many issues in creating a signature. As a small business owner, I do not have time or money to invest in a simple e-mail signature and should not be spending this much time on something so simple.
    1) Icons w/hyperlinks launch safari when viewing the email on IPAD/IPHONE, but do not launch when viewed on MAC
In my signature I have a row of social media icons with hyperlinks. If I send an email to a iPad or iPhone, the recipient can tap the icons and the sites open just fine. However, if I send an email to someone on a MAC, clicking those icons only opens up image viewer (showing the icons). I can tell they have hyperlinks by mousing over them, can even copy and paste into safari and open the sites. But for some reason viewing them on a Mac does not open the sites. Any thoughts?
    2) Cannot Control Hyperlink Placement Well
As stated, toward the bottom of my signature I have a row of 6 social media icons, each with hyperlinks. I successfully inserted the icons, edited the hyperlinks, etc. Just below this row of icons, I have additional signature text (my address, a paragraph of privacy/legal language). Upon hyperlinking the last social media icon in the row, ALL text below it (my address, legal language, etc.) assumes the same hyperlink of the last icon in that row. As much as I am careful to only highlight the icon when applying the URL, I cannot limit the hyperlink to only apply to this last icon, it is as if it applies to that icon and everything down the signature. I have tried reserving a few lines of spaces between that icon and the text before applying the hyperlink, etc. It has not worked.  Extremely frustrating - this one has cost me 8 hours at least.
    3) Icon Images Not Displaying (Not Locally Stored or Imbedded?)
I created the signature on my MAC, and when I send an email the icons display on the recipient devices (but as stated in #1, only an ipad/iphone can tap and actually activate the hyperlinks). I wanted to have the same signature on my IPAD and IPHONE. So I copy and pasted the signature from an email (sent from my MAC) into the signature section of my IPAD and IPHONE. Sending a message from either device then does not display the graphics/images. This is very frustrating. I have read that images must be on the local device (or something like that) in order to display. Can someone please help me replicate the signature I have on my MAC for my phone and iPad? Do I have to hire someone to do an HTML version?
I sincerely hope APPLE improves signatures. This experience is honestly making me regret converting over to APPLE as I bet Outlook & Windows devices would not have these issues.
Thank you anyone who can help.
    Best regards.

  • How do I get Apple to pay attention to IOS Mail Signature Issues?!!!!!

    IOS Signature.....
OK, so I know this has been answered a number of times before and I have posted this at the request of senior advisors at Apple Customer Service who are also fed up with people complaining about the lack of basic functionality with IOS Signatures.
So the issue for me is that, with IOS8 Apple introduced continuity. I can sit on my MacBook Air in the lounge, my phone on charge in another room, and genius, I can take a phone call right from my Mac. Perhaps the cynic in me thinks this was designed for the American market and those too bone idol to get of their fat A***'s and answer their phone (Hey every calorie counts after all). But what I continue to fail to get is why I can have a beautiful, Professional signature on my MacBook Air. I have a JPEG of my signature, my details, Facebook and linked in Logo's. It looks very good and often people ask me how I did that!!! But when I am out and i want to send an e-mail from my iPad Mini w Retina or iPhone 5s. Apple think that I don't need that professional signature and that basic text will do! Apple, it won't, its a basic function and you need to do something about it!!!
This has been a common complaint and oversight from Apple since the original iPhone.
I have to wait to get home to send a business e-mail from my Mac using the signature. I can cut an paste the signature from an e-mail, it works for 1 or 2 e-mails and then reverts to replacing the images with little grey boxes. I have tried all the workarounds, spend hours, probably days trying to do this and the same result overtime. Clearly Mail can send jpeg, gif, bmp etc.... just not as a signature through the settings menu. This must be a simple fix!!!
I have come to the conclusion that:
1/. Tim Cook and the executives at Apple do not use iPads for business use, or this would have irritated them and it would have been resolved. Surely while they are jetting around the world promoting the generally useless Apple Watch they would have noticed this problem?!
2/. Or Tim Cook and his gang do not use iPads!!!!!!
So Apple, please, Please, PLEASE fix some of these basics... PDF management in IOS, iCloud management on IOS and let us have more than simple text signatures in Mail in IOS. Its a basic, necessary business function!!!!!!!
These little things have stopped me upgrading the iPad and iPhone and like others I know who were Apple loyalists and promoted the virtues of Apple products, we now consider other options, with basic functionality. Stop chasing the next major release and give us the basic functionality.
Please if you know a way of doing this that works time and time again that doesn't mean opening an old e-mail and pasting every time I send an e-mail, let me know...

  • TS3276 Mail signature issues / attachments

I can setup Mail to use embedded or "attached" attachments, but when I attach files (my preference for business use) my signature becomes an attachment - is there a fix for this?

  • Apple Mail Annoyance... Mail Signature Issue

I didn't see a Mail forum, so I'm posting here.
When I check the box for "place signature above quoted text", the signature is still displayed at the bottom of the email. This is really frustrating since I respond to a client and then use a signature at the end of the email in all of my emails. Currently, when the box is checked, the signature is always placed at the bottom. Is there anything I can do about this? If I cannot resolve this, I'll have to move back to Entourage and all of the work moving will be wasted. Any help would be greatly appreciated.

  • Mail Signature Issue

I seem to have a bit of problem with my email signature. I have a IMAP account setup for my job and a signature created. When I send emails out to all my colleagues who sadly use windows my signature can only be viewed as an attachment and not at the bottom of the email text as it should be. Could anyone point me in the right direction into solving this problem.

  • It seems cranky sometimes works, somtimes not.  My other issue - is there a way to create a mail signature using the font I use in Outlook (or can I import that signature)?

I have a new iPhone 4s - having lots of trouble with Siri.  It seems cranky - sometimes works, somtimes not.  My other issue - is there a way to create a mail signature using the font I use in Outlook (or can I import that signature)?  How can I find fonts availble on my phone?
    Thanks for any help

Not in Acrobat unless your image is already in the PDF format.
This is a feature of forms created with LiveCycle Designer.

  • Is it possible to include the device name in an e-mail signature?

    Greetings,
I am currently managing 150 iPads we have deployed in our school system.  The iPads are on carts of 30 which are moved from classroom to classroom as needed. For student work I have set up Dropbox and it has been working fine.  However, a few teachers requested the iPads be set up with e-mail which can be used to prevent filling up our Dropbox space.  I have successfully done this using a shared Exchange e-mail address between all the devices.  However, this has begun to cause some minor issues as the students can send an e-mail essentually anonymously from any of the iPads.  We are trying to avoid creating e-mail accounts for all the students or iPads and I figured the easiest way to do this would be to add the device name to the e-mail signature.  After searching for a while I have not come up with a yes or no as to whether this is possible or not.  If it is not, are there any other solutions that don't involve a lot of work after reimaging the devices.  Thanks in advance!
    ~Cameron

You can set the signature for an email to be anything you want it to be. Go to the Mail, Contacts, Calendars setting and go to the Signatures area. There is however no way I know of to lock this setting, so the students can just remove the device name if they know about the setting. I also don't know if there's a way to automate the configuration so you don't have to do this manually on each iPad. Perhaps someone else here will know.
    Regards.

  • My mail signature links no longer work

my mail signature links no longer work

    Hello Immunetoall,
    What video links?
Are they stored locally on the computer or are you visiting a website?
    What browser do you use?
Where do these videos link to? (e.g. youtube)
What happens when you click on a video link? Saying "it doesn't work" doesn't really tell me what you are seeing to be able to accurately understand your issue.

  • How do I add a link to my website in mail signatures

Hi all I am new to Apple Communities - I am trying to add a hyperlink to my website address in my Mail signature. I have had a look at so many posts and found this fairly useful:  http://mydesignpad.com/create-a-complex-html-email-signature-for-mail-on-mac-os- x-10-9-mavericks/. I have also looked at other sites but keep getting stuck at step 6:
I have located the Library in Finder
    Go to ~/Library/Mail/V2/MailData/Signatures/
but this is nowhere to be found. How can I get over this issue?

    Hi again,
I can't think what I'm doing wrong... I upload the image - and I've tried this on our own webserver, imageshack, photobucket -, then copy the image location from the address bar en paste it into Sea Monkey for the image location... and broken link after broken link...
Isn't there another quicker fix for this issue?
<edit> ok i'm one step further. I've now got an image uploaded that actually shows up in Sea Monkey.
Now, for this to work, do the resulting html file and web archive also need to be on a remote computer???
No that's not necessary. those can be on your local computer. I think you are almost there. save the html file, open it in safari, save it as webarchive and substitute it for the webarchive with the dummy signature.

  • Image in Mail Mail signature is pixelated. How can this be fixed?

    Hi there,
When I create a mail signature with image (72 dpi) in Mac Mail, the sent image looks very pixelated to the recipient. When I use a higher res image (150 dpi), it looks clear but then the image is huge to the recipient. To try and solve this issue, I have created an HTML signature and image looks fine, but since I have to impletment this across a large organization, having to go in and alter everyone's mail settings is not an option.
Does anybody know why this happens?
    Many thanks!

If you are asking how, while creating a email message, can you switch from the current outgoing email email message and look up a previous email to reference a line to include in the outgoing email without having to "save as draft or cancel" and the go back to the email message I am creating, this is my problem too. If the is not what you meant, consider this a new topic as I did not find an answer without going 10 pages deep in "topics".
    Thanks
    SK

  • Images in Mail Signatures are squished

Has anyone experienced this issue? I have an image in my mail signature and it's squished down to a set size of about 100x100 pixels. Regardless of the image I use, it's always compressed down incorrectly after upgrading to leopard. This happens on more than one machine.
    Is there any workaround?

I fixed my squished problem, but the recipients of my emails tell me that the signature looks blurry. I created it in Illustrator, saved fonts to outline and saved it in various file formats, jpg, png, gif. It always looks fine on mail that comes back to me or that I send to my self from another accounts.
Is there a guideline anyone can point me to that describes the resolutions, file formats and other settings to prevent this? My experiments haven't yielded any success.

  • Image won't save in my e-mail signature

Hoping someone can help me, I have tried adding an image to my e-mail signature by going into mail preferences and then dragging and dropping and image into an existing mail signature that I have created previously.
The thing is, every time I close mail and open it back up again the image never is saved to my e-mail signature.
The account I have set-up is link hosted by GoDaddy with my own domain name.
I have 5 accounts set-up and each account has it's own assigned mail signature.
I don't know why the image won't save in my e-mail signature????

I am having this same issue.  I am not using a pic or html.  Its just Text.   This is on my .ME Email Account.

  • Mac Mail signature: hyperlinks?

i had my signature set in my Mac Mail (on my G4 iBook) to include my homepage, written as such: www.ctfoto.com
...without the 'http://' included, it nonetheless appeared in emails i sent as a highlighted hyperlink.
now though, with my new PowerPC G5, this doesn't appear as a hyperlink unless i include the 'http://'. for esthetic reasons though, i'd rather have it without the 'http://'.
    so, two questions:
    a- can i do such a thing? is this a G5 issue?
b- will html work in the signature pane? or another similar language?
    (i guess that's four questions...)
    -thanks,

Here's what I do & a solution to all who want to use an HTML signature with links and even CSS in-line formatting. FYI Mail uses the web archive format to produce the signature file.
It looks more complicated than it really is:
    1. CLOSE THE MAIL APP
    2. Create the HTML you want to use as a signature.
    3. Open the file using Safari and save it as a web archive onto your desktop.
    4. Go into mail and create a new signature. This doesn't have to be anything special since you are going to overwrite it anyway.
    5. Open finder and navigate to Username > Library > Mail > Signatures
    6. Copy the name of the new signature (it's long!) you just created there (the one with today's date and time you created it incase there are others).
    7. Rename the webarchive you created on your desktop from the HTML signature you created in step 1 with the name of the 'Mail-created' signature.
    8. Copy that webarchive into the Signatures folder and replace the other one with the same name.
    9. Reopen Mail and assign your new signature to your account(s).
I even use images in a few of mine. Have a blast.
