Mail signature problem

I have problems with mail sigantgures with a new created IMAP mail account. I have created a signature for this account in the signatures tab and have then added that to my new account and choose this signature in the account in the popup tab.
the signature will not show up when I create a new e-mail, nor am I able to choose it in the signature tab. What did I do wrong?

Hi David,
In Mail>Preferences>Composing>Composing:, is that set to Rich Text or Plain Text?

How come when I purchase the 5, my mail signature now has a line in front of it, as if its been forwarded? It never did that in any of the other operating systems... How can I fix that?
I don't want to have to type my signature every time, but it looks unprofessional with the line in front of each line...

I do know the line you're talking about.
My signature on my iPhone 5 does not have this line.
So my recommendation is that you go to Settings > Mail, Contacts, Calendars > Signature and clear out whatever you have there and enter it again.

  • Mountain Lion problems with Mail Signatures, Pages, Numbers, Keynote - This quick fix solved all my problems with these. Pages etc wouldn't launch and needed to be force quitted. Mail signature changes wouldn't save.

The solution was simple in my case. I don't know why it worked and it may have been entirely coincidental but its worth a try.
Close all applications and restart Mountain Lion.
Log in as Guest. I opened Pages at this point but I don't know if that's required.
Log out and then back in as your normal user.
Pages, Numbers and Keynote now were fine for me and Mail signature changes were saved and available for later use.
For those trying to edit the signatures to get their old ones back - I just found an old sent mail and copied the signature there into the newly created one via the normal preferences. No need for opening .mailsignature files and editing them. This included various colours, sizes, an image and a link with no problems.
I hope this helps anyone having some of these problems.

  • Mail signature saving problems

Hi! My mail signature changes are not being saved? This just started happening... I have Lion. Please help. Thx!

I was having the same problem - some accts would lose the signatures when Mail would quit, some wouldn't. I have 8 POP accts and 1 IMAP, and 11 signatures.
The thread Austin Kinsella1 suggested above was very helpful, specifically this suggestion from Zyfrog:
" Re: Can a "signature" disappear?
    in response to: socalm
    Basically:
Go to Mail Preferences -> Accounts -> Advanced and uncheck "Enable this Account". Exit the preference dialog so it saves the changes, then go back and re-enable the account.
Do this for each account whose signature is broken. "
I found that only forcing the preference pane to Save was not enough - as Zyfrog says, I had to close the preference window for the change to set. I even quit and restarted Mail in between each account I updated (I had 5 that would randomly reset to 0 signatures each time Mail was quit). I found it also helpful to have the Activity window open (Window>Activity Viewer) during this, so I could wait until Mail was done syncing before I quit it each time.
Seems to be working perfectly now! Thanks all, for your assistance - this was one of those super annoying little glitches.

  • How can I create an HTML Mail signature?

I've spent the evening searching for a way to create an HTML Mail signature with no luck.  My problem is that when I create a new signature in Mail and close mail I try the following:
    1.  Create an HTML signature in Dreamweaver CS6
    2.  Open it in Safari & save it as a .webarchive to the desktop & close Safari & Dreamweaver
    3.  Open the signature folder (through Finder) and copy the Mail generated name (.mailsignature or it could be .signaturemail - can't remember) & delete the file
    4.  Click on the .webarchive and replace the name with the .mailsignature
    5.  Copy the new .mailsignature file & paste it to the signature file
    6.  Open mail and try to use the signature
    7.  NOT WORKING
THANK YOU IN ADVANCE FOR ANY SUGGESTIONS!
PS  I use iCloud if that makes any difference.

  • How do I change line spacing in a Mail signature?  Where's the formatting menu?

I want to reduce double-spacing in my Mail signature to single spacing so it's more compact and doesn't take up all kinds of vertical space (more than the email itself--I've had recipients complain about this--and it's a business email).  I have a logo (.png) in the signature that I've been using with no problem.  I have text above and below the logo.  It's just too widely spaced.  Surely there must be a formatting menu that I can use to shrink the line spacing in Mail Signatures?  Or elsewhere, then reimport and have the formatting stick?  This is a pretty basic feature for an email client to offer.  Is there a simple solution to this?

  • Does anyone know how to restore mail signatures in Mavericks?

Does anyone know how to restore mail signatures in Mavericks?

Please follow these directions to delete the Mail "sandbox" folders. In OS X 10.9 there are two sandboxes, while in earlier versions there is only one.
    Back up all data.
Triple-click anywhere in the line below on this page to select it:
    ~/Library/Containers/com.apple.mail
Right-click or control-click the highlighted line and select
    Services ▹ Reveal
from the contextual menu.* A Finder window should open with a folder named "com.apple.mail" selected. If it does, move the selected folder — not just its contents — to the Desktop. Leave the Finder window open for now.
Log out and log back in. Launch Mail and test. If the problem is resolved, you may have to recreate some of your Mail settings. You can then delete the folder you moved and close the Finder window. If you still have the problem, quit Mail again and put the folder back where it was, overwriting the one that may have been created in its place. Repeat with this line:
    ~/Library/Containers/com.apple.MailServiceAgent
Caution: If you change any of the contents of the sandbox, but leave the folder itself in place, Mail may crash or not launch at all. Deleting the whole sandbox will cause it to be rebuilt automatically.
*If you don't see the contextual menu item, copy the selected text to the Clipboard by pressing the key combination  command-C. In the Finder, select
    Go ▹ Go to Folder...
from the menu bar, paste into the box that opens (command-V). You won't see what you pasted because a line break is included. Press return.

  • Mac Mail Signature Font

    Hello Everyone,
I am having a very strange problem in my Mac mail program and was wondering if anyone had any advice.
Our company has new customized email signatures and whenever we use this signature in an email it changes the font in the body of the email to match the font contained in the signature which is too small to use for an email.
I was just wondering if anyone has come across this problem before and if so, how did they fix it?
    Thanks!!

  • Image in Mail Mail signature is pixelated. How can this be fixed?

    Hi there,
When I create a mail signature with image (72 dpi) in Mac Mail, the sent image looks very pixelated to the recipient. When I use a higher res image (150 dpi), it looks clear but then the image is huge to the recipient. To try and solve this issue, I have created an HTML signature and image looks fine, but since I have to impletment this across a large organization, having to go in and alter everyone's mail settings is not an option.
Does anybody know why this happens?
    Many thanks!

If you are asking how, while creating a email message, can you switch from the current outgoing email email message and look up a previous email to reference a line to include in the outgoing email without having to "save as draft or cancel" and the go back to the email message I am creating, this is my problem too. If the is not what you meant, consider this a new topic as I did not find an answer without going 10 pages deep in "topics".
    Thanks

  • Mail Signature Replacement

I have a weird signature problem. I have 3 real IMAP accounts set up, and 4 signatures. The relationships are:
    Account
    Email Addresses
    Signatures
    Default
    Account A
    Address A
    Signature A
    Signature A
    Account B
    Address B1, Address B2
    Signature B1, Signature B2
    Signature B1
    Account C
    Address C1, Address C2
    Signature C
    None
An email has been sent to  Address B2 which has gone into Account B. Good.
When I reply to this message, Mail replies from address B2 and inserts Signature B1 as the default for this account. Good.
If I change the signature in this email to B2, this is added below Signature B1 rather than instead of. Bad.
I would expect Mail to remove signature B1 which it added, and then insert signature B2.
    Any ideas?

  • Mail signature dropped and randomised

I have recently had problems with my signatures in Mail. The signature is ok on my default mail account but for all my other addresses it is as if Mail cannot hold them. In my Mail preferences they are sitting there but won't stick to their relevant accounts. I re-assign the signatures to their accounts and that works until I exit the programme but then they go missing.
    Any ideas out there?
    Thanks in advance
    Mark

    Hi Mike,
Safe Boot from the HD, (holding Shift key down at bootup), run Disk Utility in Applications>Utilities, then highlight your drive, click on Repair Permissions, then move this whole folder to the Desktop & reboot, setup a Signature or 3 again & see if they hold...
    /Users/YourUserName/Library/Mail/Signatures/

  • Mail Signature not working

Ever since I did the update my mail signature will not load its there under the prefereance but you can not add it to any mail

    Same problem.
Removed the account, closed mail, re-opened mail and added the account back - same name and password.  It's worked since then and the password box in preferences is no longer there.

  • Mail Signature issues

I'm having the exact issue described in this article:
    http://theappleblog.com/2005/12/18/mail-signatures-suck/
I've tried all the solutions suggested in the comments (including http://discussions.apple.com/thread.jspa?messageID=1485526&#1485526 ) but none have helped.
As a general note, on my Dual 2Ghz G5, Mail is by far the buggiest app of the OS X suite. It often beachballs when I try to quit, necessitating a Force Quit. It also tends to lose my GMail SMTP account configs randomly.
I should probably also mention that I’m far from a “casual” Mail user; I have a half a dozen accounts of different types, IMAP server-side folders with thousands of messages and probably three dozen different rules. I also run it 24/7. So there's a lot going on that could be causing the problem. At the same time, I'm kind of hesitant to do a full reinstall or something and go through all that setup again.
Thanks in advance for any suggestions.

Your signature at the bottom of your post indicates that you are still at OS X 10.5.2. Is that correct?

  • Mail signatures seen as attachments in PC's.

    Hi there.
I am using Mail for a .Mac, Hotmail, Gmail and a company account and when I create a signature it is seen as an attachment on Windows machines.
Is it a Mac thing, and Intel thing (since the MacBook is a fairly 'green' machine so far) or just a setting I am not aware of.
I ask the wise online Mac wizards for guidance...
MacBook   Mac OS X (10.4.6)   1GB RAM, 120 GB HD

    Hi Ernie.
Thanks for your reply. I had heard about rich text/plain text approach and when I try your suggestion and I go into Format the only option is 'make rich text' and it is greyed out. If I go into Mail preferences I can chose "make plain text" under Composing, which is what I just did.
So you know, I was having a problem with spaces in my email compositions that were showing up as question marks on Windows machines since buying my MacBook. I posted to this forum and a user suggestion switching to plain text but if I really wanted to use rich text, that I should go into Terminal and type: defaults write com.apple.mail NSPreferredMailCharset "UTF-8"
I did this and it worked great. No more spaces, however I just noticed recently that it did not fix the signature problem. Based on the above and your suggestion I just switched to plain text and some of my old email now look really crappy, like MSDOS characters from the '80s. Is this really the only option? Will my outgoing emails look like this on other peoples screens?
    Any info would be appreciated.
    Thanks.

  • Images in Mail Signatures are squished

Has anyone experienced this issue? I have an image in my mail signature and it's squished down to a set size of about 100x100 pixels. Regardless of the image I use, it's always compressed down incorrectly after upgrading to leopard. This happens on more than one machine.
    Is there any workaround?

I fixed my squished problem, but the recipients of my emails tell me that the signature looks blurry. I created it in Illustrator, saved fonts to outline and saved it in various file formats, jpg, png, gif. It always looks fine on mail that comes back to me or that I send to my self from another accounts.
Is there a guideline anyone can point me to that describes the resolutions, file formats and other settings to prevent this? My experiments haven't yielded any success.
