Mail Slow to Load Images

I've gotten MOST issues addressed/fixed since Mavericks came out, but one I've noticed that is a bit annoying. Images in emails are slow to load. Not just with Gmail account, other accounts as well. Any others getting this? I'm on a MacBook Pro Retina Late 2013.

I'll try to submit this as a bug report when I get a chance.  The desired behavior would be to show as much of the message as possible without blocking the application...the way a web browser normally does when rendering a web page as elements come in.
One other quirk: in the case of the email tracking example I gave, it does not help to disable "display remote images in HTML messages" under Mail...Preferences...Viewing.
Actually, when disabling this feature, it seems like Mail downloads the images, but simply does not display them.  It takes a while to display some emails without displaying the remote images when the feature is disabled, then I hit "load images" and the images instantaneously appear.  They must have already been downloaded.  If true, then this is undesirable behavior indeed, e.g., when trying to minimize bandwidth during travel or when trying not to be tracked by email senders!

  • Mail Not Caching Loaded Images

Running Leopard and Mail 3.1 with multiple IMAP accounts:
So I like Mail's ability to NOT load images when I first view an email... it's a great way to avoid massive amounts of junk mail. My problem exists when I've told Mail that I DO want to load the images... they aren't being cached. So if I quickly view an email... load the images... jump to another email... then try to come back to the first one... none of the images are still there. Requiring me to reload them.
Is anyone else experiencing this? Am I missing a setting somewhere? It seems to me that these images should be cached by Mail somewhere on my machine so that I don't have to load them every time I view an email.

Bump again. I can't seem to get Mail to load inline images no matter what I do. Mayday.

  • Facebook slow to load images

I am currently running iOS 8.1.3 on VZW iphone 6. When in Facebook app the images are slow to load if they even do. I have rest network settings, forgot the network and reconnected. I have uninstalled the facebook app as well. all other internet usage is fine on the phone. Wifi router is Netgear WNR1000v2 set to WPA2-PSK(AES), auto channel.
    Any ideas?

    Hi nevr4get911,
Thanks for participating in the Apple Support Communities.
It seems like the Facebook app is not loading images reliably, and you've tried many good steps to troubleshoot the app and your network connection.
Since you have isolated this behavior to the Facebook app, you may want to contact the developer for more help:
If you see this issue again, contact the app developer for help:
Find the app in the App Store.
Tap the app, then tap Reviews.
Tap App Support under App Store Ratings.

  • Slow in loading images

    Hello Aperture users,
When I move from one image to another (one image displayed at the time) in my Aperture (version 2.1) each image take a little time to load in full resolution (1 second or so). This sounds long to me (especial when moving from one pic to another) - would someone know how this speed can be increased? More memory ? or is it a HD issue (too slow). Or a configuration thing in aperture....thanks for your idea, lights & time.
I use a nikon d300 jpg file (7 meg approx per picture: high quality variable file size)
Computer: Imac, alu, 3.8GHz, 4G memory.

Press "P" which puts aperture into Fast Preview mode - faster switching between pictures. You have to press "P" again to get out of preview mode before you can edit a picture.

  • Mail Dosn't load images

Hi I have been having this problem for quite some time now, it happened out of the blue and can be annoying. When in Mac OS X mail and I select an message the content loads a a simple text message I think have to select load best alternative from the menu to view images and the content of the email. Anyone know what it could be? Thanks Gautam

    Abigail,
It could very well be that something went awry as a result of installing the latest update, not because of the update itself, but rather because there was already something amiss on your system (in which case installing the update can only make things worse), or because the update wasn't installed properly. Read the following articles for guidelines on how to properly install system updates:
    Troubleshooting installation and software updates
    Installing software updates
Basically, you should verify/repair the boot volume (not just permissions) before installing the update and no applications should be running while installing it.
If you suspect your problems could be related to the latest Security Update, I'd suggest to properly reinstall it, or even reinstalling the latest Combo Update followed by the Security Update (assuming the version of the Combo Update is newer than the version of Mac OS X that came with your computer):
Mac OS X 10.4.6 Combo Update for PPC
Security Update 2006-003 Mac OS X 10.4.6 Client (PPC)

  • Mail Slow to Load and Running Slowly

Yesterday, I tried to copy a block of text from Sarari over to an email. Something I have done many times, but this time, Mail hung up with the spinning beachball and I eventually had to force quit Mail. Since that time Mail has taken minutes to load and runs slowly. I have trashed caches, repaired permissions and repaired the disk. Talked to Apple Support for 30 minutes or so this morning and tried all the stuff they suggested.
Now Apple Support is suggesting archive and reinstall.
    My questions are:
    1. Does anyone here have an idea to try?
    2. Any thing to look out for on archive and reinstall if it comes to that?
    Thanks,
    Bob Crites

As a more convenient alternative to a full Archive and Install, you may try reinstalling just the Combo Update for the type of computer and the version of Mac OS X you’re using, unless this is the version of Mac OS X that came with the computer:
About the Mac OS X 10.4.8 Combo Update
Mac OS X 10.4.8 Combo Update for PPC
Mac OS X 10.4.8 Combo Update for Intel
Take a look at the following articles for guidelines on how to properly install system updates:
    Troubleshooting installation and software updates
    Installing software updates
Basically, you should verify/repair the startup disk before installing the update, no applications should be running while installing it, and you may experience unexpected results if you have third-party system software modifications (not normal applications) installed.

  • Mail stopped loading images...

Over the past few weeks, my mail has stopped loading images - they are there if I go to www.me.com, but not on my Powerbook. Over the same timescale, the regular Apple Hot News feeds on RSS have stopped and I cannot access iTunes store - get the message 'error-2094'. Any help....?

When you receive email in HTML format (that is, as a web page), the message will usually contain links to images hosted on a remote server. When you display those images, the sender of the message will know that you've read his message, when you read it, who your ISP is, and approximately where you are. You may regard this as an invasion of your privacy. If the message is spam, then your address has been confirmed as valid and you've been confirmed as someone who opens spam messages. That will ensure you get even more spam.
If you don't care about the above, select
              Mail ▹ Preferences... ▹ Viewing
from the menu bar and check the box marked
Display remote images in HTML messages

  • Script to load images in Mail

For some reason unknown to me, in Lion 10.7.5 and using Mail 5.3 I no longer can show images in emails that I want to show images in = not as a default [I have remote HTML turned off] but when I choose.  There is no blue bar and Load Images across the top of the message [as I find on my Air with ML and Mail6] - I found a script here to do what I want, allow a Rule to show images for that message - which would be fine = but It doesn't work, the Discussion is archived and I don't know how to AppleScript [I gather the green lettering means something but what I don't know.  What can I do to either get the blue bar and Load Images button to be shown or to run the thing as a script???
    The Script is -=

No, this brings up 3 choices: open, save and copy the picture. This is not what I want, sometimes. I would like to see the picture instead of the placeholder. Any idea?

  • Safari, at times does not load images on webpages, is very slow, or doesn't work at all. Rarely does it operate as one would expect.

iMac 27" 2009 intel core 4 gigs of ram, 1tb HD, Current operating system. 2 user accounts, myself, my fiancee's. Each with iPhones so each setup to utilize iCloud. I have disabled 3rd party plug-ins once with only short-term effects. There are other issues with the computers performance and I have spoken to apple support regarding them multiple times. Some include iCloud not syncing properly to the iMac (though it does to phone and online), Finder windows getting "lost" between "digital desktops". Desktop image not syncing across all "digital desktops". iTunes often has issues with syncing with and playing from my iTunesMatch account.
Safari's issues include it not loading any images on a website, when trying to load a new page by typing a search in the the url it won't even begin to load a page, sometimes it is very slow to load a page, a lot of time it will spend 5+ minutes "attempting" or not even visually attempting to load a webpage without warning the page can't be found, and then of course there are the "page can't be found" warnings as well.
    Very much thanks in advance,
    AK

Safari 5.0.1 or later: Slow or partial webpage loading, or webpage cannot be found

  • When i use IE9, i go to my emails and any pics in the mail open with the mail but with FF i have to download them is there a way to make the pics open in the mail, i set yahoo to load images automatically in the options menu this has had no effect, thanks

some pictures(jpeg or gif) come as part of email if i use IE9 these images open as part of the mail, but with firefox i have to download them separately and then they don't appear in email. i have been in the options menu and allowed yahoo.com to automatically load images but this has had no effect, thanks

Sounds like you did this on the fly.
MM is supposed to open the Marker Panel Dialogue
    M just sets a marker
Not sure if either are intended for on the fly during playback .
There is also a Marker Icon on the Source Window Pane  >>

  • Can you auto-load images in junk mail?

Am I wrong in thinking that once you could make a choice to load images automatically when opening junk mail? Can you now?

No, there is not. It wouldn't be reliable or useful. If Mail filters it as junk, presumably you won't be opening it, and thus loading the images, anyway. On the other hand, if it fails to recognize one message as spam and you open it, you'll load the images and become a "marked man." (ie, your address will be tagged as one where the spam is opened)

Some email images do not show while using the icloud web app.  I can see the images on my IOS devices and in gmail but I only see a small gray box in the icloud web mail app.  Load HTML images is checked in preferences.  Is there a solution to this issue?

I've seen the opposite issue.  My wife recieved an email with jpg attachments.  She couldn't see or print them on her iPhone 4S but they showed up fine in iCloud or in the mail app.  I had her forward the email to herself and then they showed up.  I assume there is an issue with how Apple is processing the attachments and resending causes them to get reformatted in a way that makes them easier to handle.
So yeah.  Seems like some bugs.  Hope Apple fixes them soon.
