Mail Sometimes Fail to close

Sometimes mail doesn't close, intermittently. have to force quit. any suggestions would help

Do you have any third-party Mail plugins? Do you have either a /Library/Mail/Bundles or a ~/Library/Mail/Bundles folder in the Finder?
Go to Apple Menu > System Preferences > Accounts > Login Items. What do you see there?
In Mail, open Window > Activity Viewer. What do you see there when Mail refuses to quit? Actually, you may be able to avoid having to force quit Mail by canceling whatever it's doing (by clicking on the red stop icon of the activity).
Note: For those not familiarized with the ~/ notation, it refers to the user's home folder. You can easily locate any of the folders referred to in this post by copying the file path here, doing Go > Go to Folder in the Finder, and pasting the file path there.

Send mail sometimes fails

Hi
Im using a class to send email and after compilation and deployment the first time I try to send an email it fails with the follow error:
javax.mail.SendFailedException: Invalid Addresses; nested exception is: class com.sun.mail.smtp.SMTPAddressFailedException: 550 5.7.1 Unable to relay for ***@***.**
At the second try it works fine.
If i try later, without new compilation or deployment, it fails again.
If anyone know what is the problem I appreciate.

I try to use this properties:
mailProps.put("mail.smtp.host", smtpServer);
mailProps.put("mail.smtp.auth", "true");
mailProps.put("mail.debug", "true");
The variable smtpServer is the ip of the smtp server that I set out of the class.
My smtp server actually dont need authentication. This property mailProps.put("mail.debug", "true"); I try with and without it but is the same.
Did have any logical reason for this problem?

Xterm sometimes fail to wrap when typing

When typing a long command (beyond the window edge) xterm will sometimes fail to wrap to a new line and instead begin writing over the current line. It's like it does a \r (carriage return) when it should have done a \n (new line).
The result is sort of what you'd get if you did 'echo -e "SOME_COMMAND_BLAH_BLAH_BLAH\rTHIS_SHOULD_BE_WRAPPED"'.
Of course this scrambles everything I do to an extend where xterm becomes unusable and often I have to close the corrupted xterm and open another. It's really starting to annoy me. I can't image what might cause this, but the problem seems to come up when I've been using the xterm for some time (some different tasks). Newly opened xterms are always fine.

Use 'reset' to fix a "broken" terminal instead of opening a new one, this should ease things. Terminal state can be altered by certain control sequences/characters, e.g. if you cat a binary file you're likely to end up with a terminal that needs a reset. Other than that, a bad PS1 string may cause readline to get confused about the available line space if escape sequences are not wrapped in \[ and \].

Thunderbird 31.6.0 sometimes fails to word wrap properly

Text lines sometimes fail to word wrap properly. Example: a sentence that contains the words "foggy bottom" , where the "foggy" is at the end of one line (when composing) and the word "bottom" is wrapped to the beginning of the next line appears like this: "foggybottom" when it appears in the "sent" folder. The two words were separated by a single space when composing. Does not happen all the time, only occasionally. I cannot reproduce this problem on demand - it only happens at random.

Can you confirm that you are using Plain Text, not HTML?
do you use Plain Text all the time?
Can you check the following and say what you have as settings:
Tools > Options > Advanced > General tab
or
Menu icon > Options > Options > Advanced > General tab
click on 'Config Editor' button
it will tell you to be careful :)

select the email so you can read contents in message pane
click on 'Other Actions' and then 'View source'
where it says 'content type does it also say 'format-flowed'

Why does my iCloud mail often fail to load?

Lately, my iCloud mail often fails to load on my MacBook Pro OS X 10.6.8 or on my MAC mini, same OS. It loads OK first thing in the AM and works for maybe fifteen minutes then won't load mail messages. Restarting computer and rebooting network does not cure the problem. Other non-Apple applications, i.e. Google, etc. are working fine.
Also, mail is ok on my iPhone.
I'm on a local Airport (only me) and using Comcast cable. Any ideas?

Settings > General > Reset > Reset Network Settings.
Try reseating or replacing the SIM card.
Basic troubleshooting from the User's Guide is reset, restart, restore (first from backup then as new).

Firefox 3.6.3 fails to close itself, leaving an open instance in Task Manager of Windows 7 x64 each time the browser is closed. The instance needs to be closed manually in order to successfully start new browser session. This seems to happen in OEM version of Windows 77. There are no issues with a retail version of the OS. The problem started with a fresh, new install of Windows 7 with no other software installed.

Mail window does not close anymore

When I press the red dot or type CMD-W, the mail window does not close anymore. It just stays open, everything else works as usual. Any ideas, how to close the window again?

Look at the bottom frame of the Mail window; it may display a small dot thingie in the middle of its bar, something like this -
If so, try clicking on that dot and dragging upward.
If that works, you should have both panes present again. You can adjust the size of the window as a whole by dragging the bottom-right corner (where the hash marks are).

You don't need iDVD unless you are going to make DVDs. If you are just trying to share files, iDVD won't help you at all.
What you want to do is in iMovie, choose File/Share/File, and export that way. It creates an .mp4 file that should be readable on Macs or Windows.
You could also File/Share/YouTube if you don't mind posting them to YouTube, because of course YouTube videos are watchable by any Mac or Windows computer made in the last 10 years.

First of all, this is completely normal behavior, although it's a bit irritating, I know. What happens is that when you close Firefox, despite the window disappearing right there and then, Firefox keeps running for a little bit until the whole closing procedure is completed. This can take a fraction of a second on fast computers, or can take a few seconds on slow computers or when Firefox is storing a large session (if you save your tabs). All you have to do is wait a bit until Firefox closes, and then open it again.
To see if it's still running, you can press CTRL+SHIFT+ESC and then, under the Processes tab, you can see if firefox.exe is still there. If it's taking an unusual amount of time to close (which happens very rarely, and only if the browser freezes on exit), you can force the application to terminate from this application (task manager).
Firefox 4.0 will reduce by 97% the time it takes firefox.exe to close, so this problem will be basically erased for Firefox's next version.

Running an old beta version of RHEL is a bad idea. If you are concerned about security and operation of your OS I suggest to use a more recent release version. You can download, install and use Oracle Linux for free.
Mail processing of failed login attempts is not a good idea and to my knowledge there is no such built-in system setting. I suggest you read the standard documentation or search the Web for information on how to set up a mail system. You will probably need to create a custom script to process failed login attempts.

When composing a message under Mail it happens that a word needs to be cut from a place and paste somewhere else in the body. Instead of cutting&pasting most text editors allow the user to drag the selected word (or consecutive words) and drop them as desired. Well, why on earth Mail sometimes actually moves the selected words while sometimes it copies words?
I reported this bug already under Mountain Lion, but it hasn't been fixed yet. Text Edit, built in as well as Mail, works properly.

Press the Option key to force a copy, or the Command key to force a move. Pressing both at once will create an alias.
