Mail -- Stuck in E-mail window -no return back
Every time I enter in my Mail I get the standard Email window including only From, To, Subject and the Mail body fields data -and no buttons to get back to the Account mail list. Where did the Back?! button go? If I delete the message I get the previous message open as the previous was. I am stuck on the same mail window and can't get to other Account messages nor to other Accounts' which I have 4 alltogether! Does anyone have samekind of problems? Thanks for comments!
There is no Back button.
With a received message selected, there should be a menu bar above From with an Inbox button on the left to return to the account's Inbox mailbox, and and up or down button on the right to go to the next message in the Inbox mailbox without returning to the Inbox mailbox.
When the Inbox mailbox is selected, there should be a menu bar above the most recently received message with a button named by the account on the left and an Edit button on the right. When selecting the button named by the account, this reveals all mailboxes for the account.

For reasons I have not yet understood, my 10.5.2 mailserver stopped delivering mail. After a few restarts it is now running again but;
All the mail that arrived while it was stopped is now stuck in the Mail Queue. How can I get it to deliver thisstuck mail?pterobyte wrote:
If they can't get to the content filter on the first try, maybe it's overloaded? How busy is your machine?
It's a new installation of Leopard Server on an internal drive, the CPU navigate from 0 to 20% so it's not here. I used spamtrainer to import the database from the old drive (Tiger Server) and the mail store is on a RAID disk so I just had to change the default mail location in the right pane. I just restarted the server on the Tiger Server disk and everything is fine there.
Requeuing does not start the content filter, so if it were off, it'd still be off. So since it is running, it look like it can't keep up.
Sorry, I do my best to be understandable :->
I just made tries to see if mails would be delivered once the spam and virus filter is off and saw that mails were not delivered at all.
Is this the normal behavior ?
This problem of the content filter is probably linked to what I said in another thread.
I cannot uncheck "Attach subject tag" in Server Admin. If I uncheck the spam filter and virus filter then mails are not delivered too.
I doubt it is linked (unless you "play" with Server Admin while troubleshooting the queue). As I mentioned above, amavisd, doesn't run just "a bit".
You can always change the amavisd and postfix settings yourself.
If I knew what to change and where I probably would do it :->
I'm just scared about how many things don't work as expected once Leopard Server is installed.
Lot of problems with SMB too and as we have only one machine here I must reboot the server on Tiger if I don't want everybody here to kill me :->>
Maybe some files cannot be read/write...
If it was a permission issue, requeued mail would still hit the same issues.
Yes... I thought about that.
Do you think that it could help to download the 10.5.2 combo update and to reinstall it ?
Doubt it, but it probably won't hurt.
Will try it as soon as I can reboot the server on Leopard. I seems that someone will not leave the office like others will do today
Thanks for your help. -
How to get rid of Mail stuck in Apple Mail Exchange Inbox?
I have my Exchange 2007 Account set up in Apple Mail. Recently, there is one email (duplicated about 10 times) that I can't delete. Every time I try to delete, I get an ambigious Exchange error message. I've tried deleting and re-provisioning the account, but that doesn't work. I don't have this issue when accessing my Exchange account from a PC or other Apple Devices, only from my MacbookPro Apple Mail. How can I clear this and delete these stuck emails? Thank you.
Click and hold an icon until they all start jiggling and a X appears. Click the X to delete the partial download.

Mail stuck - Cant download mail for one use
My mail server running 10.4.8 was running fine, until yesterday I cant download mail for one user. I know there's mail in the account verified by the usage in Server Admin.
Using Mail a second account I have still works fine, but one of them wont retreive my mail. For that one account Mail has a spinning wheel for half a minute at least whereas the working account stays on for half a second. Both accounts are POP only.
I've tried Reconstruct on that account via Server Admin. I've also installed mailbrf and ran -m on that account and -f on the database. I've also restarted my machine. No change.
I've turned on POP logging to debug, and the log is identical for the working and non-working account.
Any suggestions?MY GAWD! I just got all my mail! lol. Here's what changed....
Nothing at all was changed with the server.
However I recently got a new wireless router and swapped them, and after that all my mail came through. I dont understand this.
Before cloning the router to get it to work, I plugged my new wireless router to my ISP and I was assigned a new IP, so that was one change. Another change is the brand of the router and possibly the settings, however I think I set it up identically (ie. same WAN/LAN IP, same ports forwarded, server still has the same static IP.
Both mydomain.com and mail.mydomain.com point to my server via my router, and even though I check my mail from within the LAN side, I connect to mail.mydomain.com so it connects outside my network. And nothing changed with my domain settings other than me changing the IP address for both my domain and subdomain.
So in summary the changes are:
1. New wireless router (but same configuration for the most part)
2. New IP address
I still dont understand why I was unable to retrieve my mail before. I'm going to leave his question as 'unresolved' to see if I can understand what happened so I know for the future.
Thanks for all your earlier suggestions and I look forward to figuring out what the problem was. -
I have been using firefox for years to read my email. recently the size of text became small and hard to read. I would like to get the text size large again, so I don't have to use the other browser. I have a att yahoo email account and subscribe to at&t uverse for internet service.
I tried both of your suggestions and neither one worked. I found the solution by clicking on the "View" button, then "Reset". This put my email back to the original font/text size. Somehow the screen had been Zoomed in, so to change it, follow the instructions above.

While using Gmail, when I print e-mail I can't return to my inbox or any other Gmail option. I am left "stuck" at the print window and have to open another browser window each time and go back into e-mail. Usually, I am still logged in after doing this, but sometimes I have to login to e-mail again. Thanks.
How are you trying to change it ?
You should be able to log out of an account by clicking on it at the top left of the store's pages on your computer's iTunes, or via the Store > Sign Out menu option (if you are using a PC and the drop-down menus aren't showing at the top of iTunes then control-B should get them to show). You can then sign in with your own account (the Store > Sign Out menu option should change to a Sign In option) - does that work ? -
How to open multiple mail messages in their own windows
All:
Anyone know of a keyboard command to open several Mail messages in their own windows? For example, I can't highlight all messages in the Inbox and then double click one of them to open them all in separate windows.
Surprisingly, Mail lacks an Open... command.
TIA,
Mike
Mac OS X (10.4.4)Just select multiple messages and hit Return.

Mail stuck in outbox. Mac locks up
I know there is a known issue with mail and there are numerous threads on the mail memory leak. I am amazed a core app like mail has been neglected by apple for so long but anyway. I have a mail stuck in the outbox and cannot get rid of it due to the memory leak. Within a few seconds of launching mail the app hogs 10gig of ram and counting which doesn't give me change to get to the offending message. I cannot rebuild mailboxes either. I have been told it might be a gmail issue but I cannot do a thing once I click the dreaded mail icon. Any pointers would be appreciated
Launch the Console application in any of the following ways:
☞ Enter the first few letters of its name into a Spotlight search. Select it in the results (it should be at the top.)
☞ In the Finder, select Go ▹ Utilities from the menu bar, or press the key combination shift-command-U. The application is in the folder that opens.
☞ Open LaunchPad and start typing the name.
The title of the Console window should be All Messages. If it isn't, select
SYSTEM LOG QUERIES ▹ All Messages
from the log list on the left. If you don't see that list, select
View ▹ Show Log List
from the menu bar at the top of the screen.
Click the Clear Display icon in the toolbar. Then launch Mail and wait for it to do whatever it's doing. Select any lines that appear in the Console window. Copy them to the Clipboard by pressing the key combination command-C. Paste into a reply to this message by pressing command-V.
The log contains a vast amount of information, almost all of which is irrelevant to solving any particular problem. When posting a log extract, be selective. A few dozen lines are almost always more than enough.
Please don't indiscriminately dump thousands of lines from the log into this discussion.

Hello,
We have an issue where outgoing mails for specific only domains are stuck in queue (Snow Leopard Server 10.6.8)
Here is the SMTP logs for those specific messages:
Aug 30 13:42:51 mail postfix/smtp[2230]: 9D3C2B6A007: to=<[email protected]>, relay=mailgate2.DOMAIN.gr[194.x.x.x]:25, delay=350529, delays=350385/0.05/145/0, dsn=4.4.2, status=deferred (lost connection with mailgate2.DOMAIN.gr[194.x.x.x] while receiving the initial server greeting)
Aug 30 13:42:51 mail postfix/smtp[2230]: 9D3C2B6A007: to=<[email protected]>, relay=mailgate2.DOMAIN.gr[194.x.x.x]:25, delay=350529, delays=350385/0.05/145/0, dsn=4.4.2, status=deferred (lost connection with mailgate2.DOMAIN.gr[194.x.x.x] while receiving the initial server greeting)
I have disabled ClamAV and Spam. I have tried to release the queue again using postsuper, but no luck.
Messages stuck in queue.
Any help will be appreciated.
Best regards
KostasThanks. I have used mxtoolbox.com to check for blacklisting. It reports this:
NOMOREFUNN
LISTED
Dynamic IP or generic rDNS. Use your ISPs mail service, or whitelist at: Detail 1177421238
Return codes were: 127.0.0.3
1927
62
UCEPROTECTL3
LISTED
Your ISP FORTHNET-GR FORTHnet/AS1241 is UCEPROTECT-Level3 listed for hosting a total of 1334 abusers. See: Detail
Return codes were: 127.0.0.2
But nomorefunn indicates that the blacklisted IP is a result of blocking the whole ISP subnet.
I asked for a whitelisting from nomorefunn, but in uceprotectl3 does not have that option.
What else should I do?

Mail stuck in queue - NEED HELP QUICK!
So I am completely stumped here. My mail server has been running fine since last fall. There have been no changes to it in weeks and suddenly it just stops working. If I send mail to a user on a different server they get my mail just fine. If I send mail to my self or from any external account to my self it just sits in the queue. I have verified that I have MX records for every domain on my internal DNS server. Again, everything worked fine until yesterday so I doubt that this is DNS related.
The strange thing is that after I stop and start the server mail will flow for about 30 seconds. After that the only way I can force mail in the queue to move through the server is by stopping the mail service again, instantly restarting it and hitting the retry button in the queue window in server admin.
I am in a bug hurry to get this working and I really don't want to reformat the box due to some major custom configs on the web server. By the way, the mail server has not been modified in any way outside of server admin. Thanks.

I formatted the mirror and reinstalled 10.4.4 from scratch. Dropped the plist files back into server admin and started all the services. The attempt was only partially successful.
Mail will now go through but it takes a very long time. For example, if I send a test mail to my own account it will take over 10 minutes for me to receive that mail back. Sometimes it takes 25-40 minutes! This even occurs if I hit the retry button in server admin. What could be causing the delay?
The really odd part is that a few accounts seem to work fine. I have looked everywhere to see if I could find a difference between the accounts that forward immediately and the accounts that have the long delay and there is nothing obvious. By the way, this is very reproducible. If I send email to my personal account and cc one of the accounts that work fine I will get one email back immediately and the other back after a long while. I have many domains hosted on this server (all with good MX records) and it doesn't appear to make any difference which domain I use they all have the same results.

My iPhone is getting slower, because there is an email stuck in my outbox. iPhone is trying to send it al the time (which makes other apps slower).
it is not possible to delete the email.I have an answer to the problem. I used Apple WebChat and was assisted by an agent who stepped me through the following solution. This described how to backup mail, trash the preferences files and then setup mail again. And it worked like a charm.
First, you have to backup your Mail folder by opening the "user"/Library folder and copy the entire Mail folder to the desktop.
In the search field of the Finder window type "com.apple.mail". It should show a single file, "com.apple.mail.plist". ".plist" file saves the preferences of Mail. Trashing the file and creating a new set of files should resolve the issue.
Trash the file and then quit mail if it is open. Reopen Mail and this will recreate the plist files and clear the problem. You will see a Welcome window and possibly anothers about Outbox Renamed. Just click OK or whatever appropriate to move past these.
Recreate your Accounts in Mail by clicking on Mail | Preferences | Accounts.
Now you import the old mail boxes from the Desktop. From the Mail menu, choose File | Import Mailboxes...
Select "Mail for Mac OS X" and click Continue.
The Import window will appear for you to select the files to import. Navigate to the Mail folder on the Desktop and select the various POP folders. Select each individual .mbox files one by one to import them. Repeat this until you have imported all the mail boxes you would like to, such as Sent Messages.mbox, INBOX.mbox, etc.
Once you've imported everything you need, trash the Mail folder on the Desktop.
That's it! Good luck.

When I opened mail today the incoming mail has become stuck. Initially mail activity window said incoming mail 1 of 16 and then it switched to 1 of 415 (way more than is likely). It got thru to 21 of 415 and then just sat there. I forced quit (mail would not quit normally) and restarted it. The same thing happened so I did a complete reboot and then restarted mail again. Same thing only this time it says 32 of 842. No mail is being received on either of the pop accounts I have set up despite both working fine yesterday. Mail from both accounts seems to be coming thru fine to my iPhone. Can anyone help with this or offer any suggestions??
Thanks
DuncanThanks for the response. I am running version 3.6 and I checked for software updates and there was nothing for Mail so I would guess that means I have the latest version. I restarted my iMac and relaunched Mail today and there is no change. Haven't received any new messages into Mail for 2 days now.......
Does anyone have any other suggestions??
Thanks

I have a spinning wheel in Mail - stuck on trying to load a new message. I've force quit both Mail and my whole computer, but when I open mail again, it brings up the same new message - and the side bar curser is stuck in Drafts. What else can I try to cancel
Can you log on to the email account via webmail in a web browser, view the email and delete it from there if necessary.

Hi there
I just upgrade to 10.8.5 (from snow leopard on an '08 iMac 2.4 GHz Intel Core 2 Duo with 4 GB memory) and I have a problem with Mail
While during migration there was no problem and it looks like all my massages was transferred (more than 17.000 mails) when I open Mail there is no "Message Viewer" window and if I try to open it from menu "Window" I have the message "Mail quit unexpectedly" (I have report it to Apple).
So I can not see my mails!!
Otherwise everything looks "OK" with Mail. I can see all my accounts in Preferences, I can see other windows like Activity, I can even see the red indicator with he new mails on the Mail icon on the Dock… But I can not quit Mail, only Force quit…
Thank you in advance for your help.
I am really sorry but If there will be no solution I am afraid I will go back to snow leopard…Hello
and thank you for your help

How to e-mail/not e-mail a scheduled report based on records returned
Hi Everyone,
Is there a way that there can be logic performed on a report that has been scheduled and ran before it gets sent via e-mail to the end users? We have scheduled reports that often end up with 0 records returned but users still get the e-mail with the report that contains 0 records. I would like to e-mail the reports only if the records returned is greater than 0.
We are on v3.1 so if there is a solution for 3.1 that would be great. If this capability exists in 4.0, that information would be very helpful as well.
Thank you for your time.
David HellingerApply an event on your report.
First go to Cmc, create an event based for example on a file that should be created in certain route if the query won't return 0 rows.
Then apply this event in your report Schedule option Event.
