Mail suddenly not exporting messages as PDFs

I think this is related to recently upgrading to OS X 10.9.3, but lately Mail seems unable to export a mail message to PDF.  I just started using this feature a few weeks ago regularly and now I am unable to use it.  I am almost dependant on this feature now too.
When I select Mail > File > Export to PDF it shows the box to enter the file name to save to, but when I do so, suddenly it pops me over to the Print dialog box.  When I select Cancel to cancel printing, it puts me back at the beginning with no exported file.

I did not know that.  I've had Macs since 2005 though I've never really learned much about the opersating system enviroment itself. Such knowledge I'm sure would help me out if I took the time.
Regarding all those things you suggested, haha, I was already just doing all that, likely while you were typing that out.  I tried a new folder in finder, tried moving the files to it.  I could move the files but would stilll get the print dialog box when trying to save to PDF.
Okay, so here's another development.  I've tried adding another new folder and it also will not let me save as PDF, going to the Print Dialog box.
The Path is  myusername > Documents > Business > Receipts > Meetup > filename.ext
I've tried to add new folders to the Documents menu, so
myusername > Documents > Testing out PDFs > filename.ext
and it's not working for that one either.
Just a reminder that I added the "Business" folder recently, like a few weeks ago.  I have a few receipts saved under Meetup already further along that path, but I'm unable to save new PDFs anywhere under the Business heading.  I also can't save them to Testing Out PDFs folder as I've said.  However I can save them to the Documents > root folder.
I just checked and I am able to Export as PDF from Safari to the Business folder, so it looks like it's specifically an issue between Mail and that Documents folder and subfolders.
Ooh, even more information.
Okay I've tried saving to other subfolders under Documents, but when I do that I get the following error message:
Could not save to path /Users/myusername/~/~/Documents/Family Info/Bridal Shoot 2014-06-15.txt. Choose a different path.
The weird thing is that I wasn't even trying to save them into my Documents > Family Info subfolder, I was trying to save it into my Documents > Models subfolder.

This is not usually related to AD issues, but it may be more of a DNS issue. I posted a request in your other thread to post an unedited ipconfig /all of the DC and of the client.
This may help use diagnose this issue and your other thread's printer issues.

  • Mail is not downloading messages from two accounts but the messages are in the server.

Hello, I'm having this problem. Mail is not downloading messages from two accounts. I don't know why but there're two accounts working so bad. If I click with the right button on the account and click to see the account details, I can see the messages on the server but not in inbox. I made a sync with this account and my iphone and then the iphone downlad the messages with out problems. Not my imac at work or my imac at home... what can be wrong?
    Thanks.

For Gmail, this is normal, there is nothing you can do about it -- just type Mail AND Gmail in the search box to see threads discussing how Gmail works.
As for the other accounts, this shouldn't happen. I wonder if what you're seeing is just that Mail is ignoring this setting for mail that was already on the server when you started using it. I've seen something like this happen when playing with that setting, e.g. changing it from "After one day" to "After one week". Mail would just ignore messages that fell in the timeframe where the two settings could interfere and I didn't notice it until some time later, when Mail "forgot" those messages had already been downloaded and, being faced with them again, dutifully downloaded them as if they were all new.
I believe that, if you leave the setting however you wish and stop playing with it, then Mail shall correctly process any mail that arrives from now on. In order to manually delete old messages that Mail seems to be ignoring, you can invoke the Account Info window (this is probably what you meant when you said "I can delete messages individually"; if that's not the case and want more info on this, just ask).

  • Mail will not mark messages as read after being opened

Mail will not mark messages as read after being opened... the blue dot will NOT go away, no matter how many times I open the e-mail.
It's a simple pop account. I AM able to mark messages read with the message menu item (mark as read.) I also have nothing synced with it, no iPhone, no IMAP accounts, no .mac account, nothing.
But this is a real pain to have to do manually, when it used to happen automatically upon clicking the e-mail, it opening in a window to read, and then closing it.
All was working fine up until the 10.5.7 update. I hoped the 10.5.8 update would fix the problem, but no change. Everything else is working perfectly (I do the permissions repair/disk verify procedure before and after each update.)
Can't seem to find anyone else with this problem in here either, through search or just going through hundreds of messages.

    Okay, then lets try this:
    1. Select all your messages in the Inbox; then use the contextual menu or the Message > Mark menu to mark them all as Read.
    2. Quit Mail.
    3. Go to Home/Library/Mail and delete the Envelope Index file.
    4. Restart Mail, wait for the index to rebuild and retrieve any new email you might have, and see if the problem contineus. Hopefully it will not.

Mail will not send messages. Help please: it receives OK but parks my outbound stuff in either Drafts or Outbox

Thanks for your answer. Apprciate it very much. Just prior to receiving your email, I got back online. However, as I had tried what you suggested (and a lot more as I am 'reasonably' competent), and had been so doing since yesterday afternoon, I do believe that what you suggested was correct - that it was my third rate ISP that was at fault.
    Nevertheless, many thanks once again.

Mail suddenly not being received from server. The ISP tells me there's nothing wrong at his end. I can see emails on the server if I look up WebMail; they don't come into Mail. I haven't changed anything lately. The incoming server details haven't changed; the Connection Doctor shows the accounts are connected; I've turned everything off including the modern. Have exhausted my limited knowledge. Anyone with something similar?

I have decided to dedicate this thread to the wonderful errors of Lion OSX. Each time I find a huge problem with Lion I will make note of it here.
Today I discovered a new treasure of doggie poop in Lion. No Save As......
I repeat. No Save As. In text editor I couldn't save the file with a new extension. I finally accomplished this oh so majorly difficult task (because we all know how difficult it should be to save a file with a new extension) by pressing duplicate and then saving a copy of the file with a new extension. Yet then I had to delete the first copy and send it to trash. And of course then I have to secure empty trash because if I have to do this the rest of my mac's life I will be taking up a quarter of percentage of space with duplicate files. So this is the real reason they got rid of Save As: so that it would garble up some extra GB on the ole hard disk.
So about 20 minutes of my time were wasted while doing my homework and studying for an exam because I had to look up "how to save a file with a new extension in  mac Lion" and then wasted time sitting here and ranting on this forum until someone over at Apple wakes up from their OSX-coma.
are you freaking kidding me Apple? I mean REALLY?!!!! who the heck designed this?!!! I want to know. I want his or her name and I want to sit down with them and have a long chat. and then I'd probably splash cold water on their face to wake them up.
I am starting to believe that Apple is Satan.

My Mail program is not receiving messages all of a sudden. But I can send.
I have to get my mail at .Mac. Just tried fixing permissions. No luck yet. I just sent myself an email and it came into .Mac but not to my Mail program.
    What have I done?
    PowerBook G4   Mac OS X (10.4.9)

    You're welcome.
More than likely .Mac but to confirm, at the menu bar for the Mail application go to Mail > Preferences > Accounts.
Under the Account Information tab for your .Mac account preferences, what is shown next to Account Type?
If .Mac, a .Mac type account with the Mail application is really an IMAP account and behaves in the same way so try using the Rebuild Mailbox function on the Inbox mailbox for your .Mac account.
If there is a black triangle to the left of Inbox in the mailboxes drawer, select it pointing it down to reveal your .Mac account named Inbox mailbox. Select the mailbox and at the menu bar go to Mailbox and select Rebuild.
All messages in the message list for the account's Inbox mailbox will disappear temporarily and the mailbox will be resynchronized with the server.

  • Mail suddenly not connecting to outgoing gmail server

For some reason, my Mail app is suddenly not sending outgoing messages from my gmail address via the gmail server.
No trouble using the web mail service on the browser, or even using the Mail app on another computer, but this one is continually ending up in an endless pause with no messages going out.
    Any thoughts greatly appreciated.

  • Hotspots not exporting to interactive PDF

Am using Fireworks CS5 and have created a interactive image map, whereby hotspots link out to url's.
I have exported it to html, which works fine.  However, I also need to export it as an interactive pdf. I can't not do this.
When exported to pdf, all the links are lost.
I created another test file using buttons instead of hotspots, when exported to pdf the interactions remain, but using hotspots they are lost.
    Can someone assit?
    Cheers
    Robin

I was looking for an answer to this issue too and someone mentioned in this thread http://forums.adobe.com/thread/787195 that the Polygon Hotspot tool does not work for Interactive PDFs when exporting, so make sure that your hotspots are set to Rectangle on the bottom properties palette if they are rectangle. If they are for a polygon shape, then I guess you should export to HTML&Images instead of PDF to preserve the polygon hotspot.
It's probably irrelevant to you now (sorry), but hopefully this helps anyone else looking for a similar solution.

  • Markers/cue points suddenly not exporting to flv

    hello one and all,
i have been using soundbooth cs4 to edit and set cuepoints/markers withing audio narrations and then triggering off of them in flash.  which was working great until it suddenly stoppped working.  so i tested an old flv file under flash to make sure flash was trigger properly and it is.  thus i must conclude that soundbooth is not exporting the markers/cuepoints out to the flv file as supposed to.  please advise and thank you in advance.
    lucas

    hello one and all,
i am just adding more information to my prior thread because i have more information now.  i forgot to mention that besides running soundbooth cs4, it is on a mac pro under snow leopard.  originally, i recorded a test audio using garage band directly into my macbook, which was in stereo.  then i transferred the stereo wav into my mac pro and added the cuepoints in soundbooth, which i exported as a mono flv.  the cuepoints triggered great within flash.  then, i directly recorded into soundbooth with a logitech usb mono microphone on only the mac pro and again exported as a mono flv.  this was when i lost the cuepoint triggers in flash.  so, then i ridded myself of the logitech mono and replaced it with a m-audio mobilepre usb stereo preamp and recorded into soundbooth on only the mac pro again and again exported to a mono flv.  the cuepoints again worked fine in flash.
so, at this point, it seems that the recording must be in stereo, which i store the raw stereo in asnd files, and then export to a mono flv for the cuepoints to trigger properly in flash.  but that shouldn't be, it shouldn't matter whether i record in mono or stereo for the cuepoints to be properly stored in the mono flv file.  i think somehow there is a bug in soundbooth or its export from mono asnd to mono flv.  but i am not completely sure about the latter statement because i did not program soundbooth.  anyway, those are my observations and i am a little distressed because stereo usb microphones are much more expensive then mono.  could it be perhaps the logitech mono microphone had something to do with it?  that doesn't make much sense either because the audio side came over fine.  anyway, some feedback would be nice.  have a nice day.

Please help!!! Ever since I upgraded to 10.5.2, Mail would not let me send any messages, attachment or no. If anyone wants to know, I use .Mac mail.

You have a .mac account, which you are accessing with the the application Mail?
If so, what Port are you presenting the outgoing server smtp.mac.com on? Have you checked that Port 587 is being used?

  • Mail app not deleteing messages in trash like it's supposed to

I have a .mac email account. In "Mailbox Behaviors" I have checked "Move deleted messages to the Trash Mailbox" and "Store Deleted Messages on Server". I also have selected "Permenantly erase deleted messages when: one day old".
The problem is that mail is not deleting my messages when one day old. The messages just sit there in the trash forever.
Anyone else have this problem or have any ideas on how to solve?
    Thanks.
EDIT: The message was deleted when I quit mail and restarted. I don't understand. Usually I leave my mail app up and running 24/7. I thought that selecting "Permenantly erase deleted messages when: one day old" was supposed to do that even if the mail app was running all the time, when it syncronizes? But I have to quit mail and restart it to get it to do that?

    Hi, McToast.
I don't use .Mac mail, but I've noticed the same behavior w.r.t. "Delete messages when one day old." Personally, I think it's a bug. I just press Command-K every once in awhile in Mail to delete all the Trash: I have mail set up to move everything that is considered Junk to the Trash vs. a Junk mailbox.
I submitted a Mac OS X Feedback on this months ago. You may want to do the same.
You might want to check the Mail & Address Book Discussion, which is where Mail-related questions should be posted.

  • AIM mail suddenly not received by mac mail

    Hi-
I have been using my new AIM account on my Mac Mail for about 6 months now with few problems.
The other day Mail decided to not send out any of my AIM mail although it was able to receive them. This lasted for a day and a half and then corrected itself.
Last night Mail is not receiving any of the AIM mail, although it is able to send it out (although VERY slowly). It is still trying to receive mail but cannot as of this morning.
I have checked the Mail settings and they seem fine. Mail is still able to be sent and received without a problem on the AIM mail site.
How can I see if the problem is with Mail, AIM, or even just me?
    Thanks!

    Orono, Maine

I discovered the problem. I had tried to send some photos that made a very large file. Mail tried and tried to send it but I finally stopped it. In the meantime it had copied the 44.1 M email 260 times! I deleted and emptied the trash and now all is well!
