Mail suggestion

Is there a suggestion box on this site? I have one for Mail. If I remember correctly, in 10.4 or 10.5 you could designate incoming mail as Junk by just dragging it to the Junk mailbox. That no longer works. I would like that to be restored.
The advantage of this is that you could drag a message to the Junk box without opening it and taking the chance that by doing so you would alert the sender of something, such as that your address was correct, or get a nasty by just opening the mail.

I am receiving e-mails suggesting my apple account has been signed in to on devices I don't have. Are these genuine? How can I check or stop without resetting passwords etc?

You can view what devices your Apple ID has been associated with by using iTunes on your computer. Just navigate to the drop down menu Store > View My Account, sign in and click the Manage Devices section to view all devices and when they were associated. You will also have the option to remove them as well.

Where to send Apple Mail suggestions & new ideas.

Hi, I have one fast Question.
Does anyone knows an email from somebody at Apple that I can write some suggestions for the Apple Mail application?
I have been using this app for the past four years and I think it REALLY!!! needs some easy add-ons and fixes to make it better.
I really appreciate the help.

Mail suggestions

how do you inform apple on suggestion for improving the e-mail app. I have more than one e-mail account and its frustrating that you have to go back several times to get to the accounts page. It would be nice if their was a home button to take you back to the accounts page from anywhere in that app.

When I type in the email address I want to send an email to, mail suggests email addresses i never use

I am using Apple's Mail application on my MacBook Pro for 3 emails. One personal, one for my work place and one for my university email address. From the university I receive lots of emails which isn't sent only for me, but every student on my course, so I am not the only receiver.
When I am sending an email, from any of my email addresses and I type in whom I want to send it to, it shows a bunch of email addresses that I have never sent an email to. They are all university email addresses and I want to get rid of them, but they are not in my address book and I have no clue how to delete them / where to find them.
For example: I wanted to send an email from my work place email to James Fox. He's email is [email protected] (just an example). When I start to type in James.f, about 100 email addresses pop up, but none of them is the one I need and I will never need those and I CANT GET RID OF THEM.
Please help me, how to get rid of all these unwan

How is the university account added to your system? (You should be able to find it in either System Preferences - Internet Accounts, or Mail - Preferences). Is it an Exchange account, perhaps? I wonder if you're seeing a centralized contact group that can't be controlled from your computer (but you may be able to turn it off completely).

How do I remove an email address MAIL suggests?

silly question. A friend has changed his email address. I have changed it in my address book.
However when I compose a new mail and start to type the name of my friend, the OLD email address appears in a drop down list as much as the NEW address. How can I make it so that the OLD address wont show anymore? Sillylie enough the old address is listed first so I always end up sending mail to the wrong address.
The old address is not in any part of my address book.
Where is MAIL getting the address from and can I stop it showing the old address?

Go to Mail's Window menu and select Previous Recipients. Seek and destroy.

Mail suggestion for Apple

It would be nice if Mail had global mail settings for all email accounts, or the ability to update all email accounts to the same outgoing mail server, so you don't have to go into each email account to change the outgoing mail server settings when you move from one location to another.

Mountain Lion Safari doesn't allow Yahoo Mail address suggesting

Yahoo Mail suggests addresses as they're typed into the To: field, drawing from the list built in Yahoo Mail. I know this feature works with Internet Explorer in Windows, with Safari in Snow Leopard, and with Firefox in Mountain Lion. But it doesn't seem to work with Safari in Mountain Lion. Any ideas for enabling the feature? Apple Tech tried to tie Yahoo Mail to Contacts but I don't want that - because I also use Yahoo Mail in a Windows environment I'm resigned to having built a separate Yahoo mail list. Thanks for any help you can provide.

I'm the OP and I'm the one that listed the problem originally. I spent an hour with apple care and the genius level two guy suggested I wipe my whole system. LOL, for a 40MB app, yeah right. The issue with Safari 6 is javascript, according to yahoo javascript is turned off. If you try to change your classic yahoo mail to the newer version it will give you a javascript turned off error. So for whatever reason Safari 6 has javascript turned off even though it is clicked ENABLED in preferences. Crazy. I did find my solution though and that was to dump Safari 6 by giving myself "read and write" permissions and then dumping the safari chache, plist, and preferences files. Then I installed Safari 5.17 by downloading the dmg from the net using PACIFIST. I had complete directions but somebody at apple decided to delete the whole post.

Mail filling disk space

Looking at a friends mac air, her aol account is up the spout. Mail has created many duplicate recovered messages.
In system log I get
RecoveredMessage: Error deserializing message property list for file ...
Unexpected character M at line 1 ...
PLAIN security layer: no] Failed to start the SASL connection
so I followed a command to rebuild the mail index
mdimport ~/Library/Mail/ suggested in another post
Terminal says

I resolved this by deleting the mail account and re-creating it. It was an IMAP account on AOL so mail just resynced again.

My MAIL is GONE !!! ... how do I get it back

I just upgraded to TIGER and I have "lost" over 6000 emails .... ;o( .... I have done a "get info" on my mbox and it shows it contains over 800 mb of files but I don't know how to access or open it .... HELP PLEASE! .... and yes I have tried to "rebuild" ... nothing happenned ... ;o(

Similar problem here. I've lost most of the email I've received since buying the computer. Very. Disappointing.
I did an upgrade installation of Tiger on 12/20. When I opened Mail the first time it managed to import everything okay except the Inbox. There, everything before June 20 was missing. The Apple web page for Mail suggested "Rebuild Mailbox" as a cure for missing messages. This caused the rest of the Inbox to disappear! It now has only the mail I received after installing Tiger. The Applecare phone support was not much help. They directed me to try re-importing from my "home folder"/Library/Mail/"account folder"/INBOX.mbox. With "Mac OS X" selected as the import mode it saw nothing. With "Other" selected it managed to import just 18 messages from between 12/12 and 12/18. The thing is, in that account folder there is a large file simply called "mbox" which is 92 MB and has a mod date of 12/19. I opened it with TextEdit and I can see that the old mail is in there, probably all of it. Does anyone know how to recover it?

Source of the triggered mail in SAP (SCOT)

I want my old mail setup

I had my Mail set up just fine. All my stuff was stored on gmail and not on my computer. Now Mail suggested I sync gmail. I did and now I think I have an IMAP set up. Its downloading gigs of old messages on my computer. I DONT WANT THIS! Help me get it back please

That has always been visible for any GMail account, since at least Mac OS X 10.5 (aka Leopard), as far as I recall. I'm not sure what you did to not have that visible.
One way that you can get rid of some of those mailboxes is to set Mail to use them. For example, click the triangle to expand it and then select the Drafts mailbox. Then choose Mailbox -> Use This Mailbox For -> Drafts. It'll disappear, but now Mail will use that mailbox as your Drafts folder for GMail. Same with Sent and Trash.
Others, you can log on to your GMail account, click the "gear" icon and choose Mail Settings, then the Labels tab, and uncheck the Show In IMAP box next to any mailboxes you want to hide from Mail.

How do I edit suggested email addresses

When creating a new message Apple Mail suggests an email address as I type even if this email address has changed in Address Book. How do I edit this suggested list? I have done it before but can not remember how.

I realize that Mai+ uses the "previous" recipients list and the address book (and LDAP, if configured), but shouldn't it "learn" and suggest the moat used. How can I make Mail suggest the most used and correct name/email (mine!)?
I have removed all the emails from the "previous" recipients list and emailed myself several times, only to continue to have the incorrect names/emails pop up. Any ideas?

Thank you.....to be more precise....the id and password assigned to itunes is correct and works..but....when I hit 'update all' and get the small inset screen to sign iin....it is asking for a password to a different email address. I need it to use the icloud address I always use to puchase from itunes. I don\t know where it found this new email address?

Yahoo mail not updating on iPad.

My iPad stopped updating Yahoo mail last week, no warning, just won't update and now says 'updated Saturday' and won't reconnect. Have deleted and reinstalled account numerous times but no joy. Explored with Yahoo Mail who said talk to Apple. Any advice? Driving me a bit mad now.... Exchange account is working fine and can send from Yahoo but no new mail.

Suggest you use the yahoo mail app. Heard there is bug in the Yahoo Mail Server that prevents the regular apple mail app from working.
