Mail suspect

Bonjour,

Courtesy of Google Translate:
I have twice received an email from [email protected] is mandating under the apple name and asked me to verify my account information apple that supposedly would come to an end soon. It already seemed strange but also said email contains spelling pretty ...
When I click on their link takes you to a page authentication insecure?! it seems frankly strange especially that authentication page is under the following URL: http://itunesparibas.altervista.org/Phone/0b1a5b56f955fe5d368b6c8b59719975/conne xion.html
Someone has already heard you speak of expiry identifiers apple?
This is a scam, 'phising' for your personal details. You are wise to ignore it.

  • Odd crash after SU 2006/QT 7.1 - NOT VersionCue

I started a thread here: http://discussions.apple.com/thread.jspa?threadID=482611&tstart=0 because I thought it was just Mail misbehaving. But there's a deeper problem: something to do with com.apple.security, that occurs when (I think) QT 7.1 is installed on my Intel iMac.
Here's the critical bit of the crash log:
    Exception: EXCBADACCESS (0x0001)
    Codes: KERNINVALIDADDRESS (0x0001) at 0xb363f560

A similar error occurs when QT7.1 and SU 2006-003 are installed, on launching keychain access or trying to send mail. And it's all users on the machine, not just me. I've tried a whole bunch of things, including deleting the usual mail suspects, com.apple.security.whatever, and I have nothing in the Startup items. Everything else I've tried seems to be fine, it's just those two applications. And I think it occurs after updating to QT7.1, but I can't prove that yet. Maybe on Friday I'll look at installing SU and not QT; in the meantime, does anyone have any ideas?

I may be experiencing a similar problem - I have one application (FontDoctor 6) that will not launch without a crash and an HP Color LaserJet 3800dn network printer that will crash any application if you select it to print - all other printers work fine. Our WinXP and Win2K machine print to the HP ok.
I was running 10.3.9 and the printer and all applications worked fine.
I purchased the 10.4.3 Tiger retail upgrade disk, backed up all important data, ran Disk Utility until it ran clean and then installed. After install I ran Software Update and am now at 10.4.6. After Software Update FontDoctor crashes on launch every time and am unable to print to that one printer. I have noticed that other threads comment on HP printers causing problems, but have seen them referenced only to OS'es 10.2 and 10.3 - not 10.4.
I have also ran Disk Utility again and it comes up clean.
The crash log from launching FontDoctor:

    WITHAPPLE.
Sounds like a phishing attempt. They want your Apple Store information in a reply to the e-mail to steal your identity. Apple generally is good in their e-mails about spelling, spacing, and punctuation. Whenever you see something remotely unEnglish about an e-mail, suspect it to not be real. Verify with the store you ordered from that there is an investigation. DO NOT RESPOND TO THE E-MAIL directly or through links in the e-mail.

  • Mail malfunctioning. Cannot Send. Suspect Virus. Need Help.

Mail malfunctioning. Suspect virus. Affects my Macbook and Mac Mini, not iOS devices. Mail is received, cannot send.  Sending is "blocked". Also, one addressee of a message I sent was renamed by Mail with the name of an unrelated entry in Contacts.  I'm running 10.10.3.  Many thanks for your help.

    Hi Linc,
This is what it says in the window
"Cannot send message using the server iCloud (iCloud)
The server response was: Blocked -- see **********
It's the same regardless of the addressee. Above is just one example.
Connection doctor, by the way, says all is OK in re: SMTP server.
    Does this help at all?
    Thanks

  • Internal user sending e-mail with MailChimp identified as Suspected SPAM

Just wondering what people do when they have e-mails detected as SPAM or Suspected SPAM from spam houses like Mail Chimp.  Is it effective to just report the false positive to [email protected]?
I started down the path of adding the sender to a policy that isn't scanned for SPAM, but they use a different sender address for every e-mail.  I think looked at adding their hosts to a different policy but they have a lot and I would like to still scan their e-mail in general.
    Appreciate any input,
    Jason

    Hi Jason,
in general, it's good idea to submit false positives to [email protected] In case your settings are to send suspected Spam and positive Spam into the Spam quarantine, you can enable the checkbox in the quarantine settings to submit messages automatically to Cisco once released. I would recommended to deliver suspected Spam messages in general to users and only send Spam messages into the quarantine. Suspected Spam is merely a grey zone which means that the messages flagged at that are mostly not Spam but share some common similarities with typical Spam messages.
If the Safelist/Blocklist feature is enabled users can add senders in the safelist to ensure mails are delivered to the inboxes. Otherwise you could add the domain name with a leading dot ".example.com" into the Withelist sendergroup or any other sendergroup that still does Anti-Spam scanning, but with throttling policy applied.
    I hope this helps.
    Best regards,
    Enrico

  • Opening suspect e mails on a Mac

Hi. I have recently been receiving lots of e mails that have .zip files attached, from postmaster@....., the FBI, CIA etc. I have read on the net that these all contain the sober worm in various forms. I normally just delelte them. Today however I received one from a company that I deal with, postmaster@ the company name.com saying that a mail that I sent was undeliverable. The message had an attached .zip file which made me suspicious. so I deleted it.
My question is.. If this contained some sort of worm or virus, although I don't think that it can affect my Mac, could it affect any e mails that might send to PC's? By that I mean infect or attack the Pcs that received the e mails? The amount of these things floating about on the net is astonishing.

Because I also run Office for Mac, is it likely that any virus or worm
could then attach itself to any windows files or folders?
You can potentially infect a Windows user if you forward a file that is infected with a Windows virus.
If you open a file that is infected with a Windows virus, it cannot automatically attach itself to any other files on your Mac since a Windows virus is written for and only affects Windows users. Opening a file attached to an email message that is infected with a Windows virus has no effect on OS X.
The following was copied from Macs, viruses, and anti-virus software.
A Mac can spread a PC virus to a Windows user. There are two ways this can happen. The first way is via an email attachment; if a Mac user receives an infected file in an email, and then clicks the Forward button and forwards it on to a friend, then that friend might become infected.
The second way a Mac can spread a Windows virus is in a client/server or LAN environment. If a Mac is acting as a file server on a LAN that has Windows users, a Windows user can copy an infected file onto the Mac file server, and then another Windows user can copy the infected file off.
The easiest and most low-impact way to stop a Mac from spreading Windows email viruses does not rely on software; it relies on common sense. Do not forward messages with attachments to other people. No matter who you think they are from and what you think is in them. If you do not know, personally, what the file is, or you did not create it, don't forward it. Even if it has the Microsoft logo and official looking text saying "This is a Windows security update." Even if it just looks like a harmless joke. Even if it promises hot pictures of Britney Spears naked in unbelievable oral XXX action. Do not forward emails with attachments to other people. If you are on a Mac, on a Windows machine, on a Sun, it doesn't matter...Do not forward emails with attachments to other people.

    Hi Allan.
As has been mentioned, the underlying html is not that shown in the text. This is the normal phishing system, with people clicking a link that isn't actually what is shown on screen. There is no actual problem with www2.bt.com, but the other, well that's another story.

  • E-mail campaigns how to avoid being suspected for spamming

    Hi,
We plan to launch e-mail campaigns, but we fear that we may be tagged as a spammer.
My best guess is to throttle down sapconnect for INT to max. 1.200 mails per hour that way the different ISP shouldn't tag us as a spammer.
Have anyone of you had experience with that, and how did you solve it?
    Best Regards

Created by own variant of sapconnect sap&crm with only 800 items per 10 minuttes, that way we will not be marked on the blacklist

  • Why Am I Getting Suspect Mail

If imac Mountain Lion is so good at preventing antivirus and malware, why am I getting scam emails, ones that are telling me that a problem has been detected and that I should click a link to solve the problem? I never used to get these sort of emails when I had my Windows computer with antivirus and anti maware software installed.

As others have indicated, spam/scam emails are not viruses and depend for their success on naivety, gullibility or unawareness on the part of the recipient. Such emails range from those that require little more than a pulse and an IQ in double figures to recognise, to those that are very convincing and appear to be genuine. Previous posters have suggested various ways that you might be able to filter out at least some of such emails but, to borrow terms from the world of radar, there is a trade-off between the Probability of Detection (ie. the likelihood that a spam/scam email will be spotted and quarantine or deleted) and the False Alarm Rate (ie. the likelihood that a genuine email will be wrongly identified as spam/scam). The only way to stop all spam/scam emails is to stop all emails! If your Windows system never showed you a spam/scam email, then it is almost certain that it stopped some genuine ones as well - did you ever check your junk or quarantine folder? Personally, having been caught out by an occasional important genuine email being classified as junk, I leave all the filters on my ISP server open and simply delete junk after it has been downloaded to my Apple email. It takes very little time and gives me satisfaction that others can then have the benefit from all those mega-millions that just need their bank account details to be provided that the money can be transferred to them.

  • How can I migrate my junk-mail settings from one Mac to another?

I would like to move my junk mail settings from one Mac to another. I found this article (https://kb.siteground.com/how_to_synchronize_the_junk_email_settings_in_mac_mail /), but can't locate the file indicated in the article, so I suspect that the article is out of date (though it's not dated).
    Both machines - MacOS 10.9.5; Mail 7.3.
    Any insights much appreciated!
    Best,
    Doug

Make your user library visible and see if you can find it.
Go to Finder and select your user/home folder. With that Finder window as the front window, either select Finder/View/Show View options or go command - J.  When the View options opens, check ’Show Library Folder’. That should make your user library folder visible in your user/home folder.  Select Library.

  • Can't setup BT Mail on iPhone or iPad after workin...

Having been asked to change to the new look BT Mail (had to change password, for some reason) on laptop on 19th Sept, noticed on Friday 26th that I couldn't send emails from iPhone (receiving OK).  Ran throught the steps suggested on several threads on this forum but kept getting error message "password or usename is incorrect...".  Tried deleting account, etc - no good.  Saturday morning, tried again - worked perfectly - able to set up BT Mail as described and send emails.  Saturday afternoon, tried to retrieve mail - got the error message again - could not receive mails now!  Ran through the steps again and again.  Cannot complete setup.  Checked on iPad - same issue.  Checked settings against my wife's phone and ipad - she has no issue and settings are the same.  She hasn't changed to the new BT Mail.  Suspect that something hasn't synchronised on server side with the new password.
Have checked login to My BT, BT Sport, etc and all OK.  Checked my BT profile and looks OK.  As I said, it was working fine for a few hours yesterday but then failed again.    Any ideas?

SORRY, Please read this one I sent it too early...........
Hi, I have had the same issue for the last few days. However today I set up a mail account on my ipad & iphone with my previous password and it works! make sure you put your previous email password under the outgoing server details too. It worked for me so I have now contacted BT again to ask why it is allowing me to use old passwords on the iphone/ipad but can only use the new password on the laptop webmail. Good Luck

  • Cannot send email with any of my accounts on Mail 5.2

I have a Mac Book Pro
    Mac Os X 10.7.4
    Mail 5.2
I have many diferent email accounts (gmail, hotmail, prodigy.net.mx, etc)
Some are POP, some are IMAP
I have another computer, an iMac with older system and older Mail app. and used same setup for all accounts
I can receive emails, but I cannot send emails on any of the accounts. I have quadruple checked all settings and all seems to be ok.
All smtp connections appear as not connected, yet different servers, or email suppliers, this makes me suspect something else is wrong.
Any ideas? Help would be appreciated.

Just FYI, I've had the same problem for months now. I have been accessing my hotmail via the web, but decided to try the OS X Mail app.  I could get emails into the account with no problem but couldn't send.  I read all the blog and support entries and have tried everything they recommended, like changing my computer name to one word, without success.  Then last night, it just so happened that my broadband provider had to change out my wireless modem.  As soon as he plugged in the new one, some emails that had been in my outbasket for a month went through instantly and all of a sudden my Mail, both incoming and outgoing now work.  So I think people need to look at their router settings for the a solution to the problem.
