MAIL: The upgrade failed - error occurred during upgrade. launching Mail Import assistant  to repair damaged index did not work

After installing Yosemite, the Mail required an upgrade. the upgrade was completed but resulted in a message: The upgrade failed. error occurred during the upgrade, check continue to launch Mail Import Assistant.
This resulted in an instruction: Your mail index has been damaged. To repair it quit mail. Mail will repair index next time you open mail.
Following this instruction resulted in the same failure message being repeated continuously.
How do I proceed to upgrade the Mail app.?

If doing as the alert directs (relaunching Mail) has no effect, see below.
The new version of Mail stores its database in a different format than the old one, so the database has to be converted before Mail can use it. Sometimes the conversion fails because the old database is corrupt. The easy way to recover is to discard the old database and start afresh. You can do that without losing any messages, provided that:
☞ All your incoming mail accounts are on an IMAP or Exchange server
☞ You store sent messages on the server
☞ You don't have any "On My Mac" mailboxes
Most well-known independent mail services such as iCloud and Gmail are based on IMAP. On the other hand, ISP-hosted mail services almost always use POP. If your ISP is one of your mail service providers (or the only one), you probably can't use this procedure. Ask for further instructions in that case.
If you know that the conditions above are satisfied, continue as follows.
Quit Mail if it's running. Back up all data.
Open the Library folder in your home folder by holding down the option key and selecting
          Go ▹ Library
from the Finder menu bar. Inside it is a subfolder named "Mail." Move that folder to the Desktop. You're not moving the Mail application; you're moving a folder named "Mail."
Open the Internet Accounts pane in System Preferences and recreate your mail accounts other than iCloud with the same settings as before. To recreate an iCloud mail account, all you have to do is open the iCloud preference pane and check the box marked Mail.
Launch Mail. If all goes well, your mailboxes should be restored automatically. The messages will be downloaded from the servers, so it may take a long time if you have very large mailboxes. Some people have mailboxes in the gigabyte range, and that may be a problem if your bandwidth usage is metered.
If the mailboxes are created successfully, you can delete the folder you moved to the Desktop. You may have to recreate your Mail rules, signatures, and custom stationery. If it's very important to you not to have to do all that, ask for instructions before deleting the folder.

Ok I cant find a way to fix this so I basically cant use my Verizon Iphone 4 because it wont connect on an old version...

OK.  You may have to reinstall everything from scratch but follow following steps:
    1. Go to Microsoft website to fix install and Unistall problems. Click "Run now" from Fix it to remove all iTunes & related installer files:
    http://support.microsoft.com/mats/Program_Install_and_Uninstall
Be aware that Windows Installer CleanUp Utility will not remove the actual program from your computer. However, it will remove the installation files so that you can start the installation, upgrade, or uninstall over.
    2. You should remove all instances of iTunes and the rest of the components listed below:
it may be necessary to remove all traces of iTunes, QuickTime, and related software components from your computer before reinstalling iTunes.
Use the Control Panel to uninstall iTunes and related software components in the following order:
    iTunes
    QuickTime
    Apple Software Update
    Apple Mobile Device Support
    Bonjour
Apple Application Support (iTunes 9 or later)
Follow the instructions from Apple article listed here: http://support.apple.com/kb/HT1923 to remove all components
    3. Reboot your computer. Next, download iTunes from here:http://www.apple.com/itunes/download/ and install from scratch

These ones are typically caused by underlying problems on the PC that also often cause Windows Updates to fail to install. If we can fix the Windows Update trouble, we can usually get the iTunes trouble cleaned up en passant.
Go into your Windows update and try to check for new updates. If updates install, stock up on the ones you're behind on, restarting the PC if requested to do so. After the restart, try installing iTunes again. Does it go through this time for you?
If windows updates fail to install, go into your Update History and doubleclick the failures. What alphanumeric codes appear for you? (For example, 8007000B.)

    Hi Gurmo,
HRESULT: 0x80073712 means ERROR_SXS_COMPONENT_STORE_CORRUPT, and it is one of the error codes listed at this
    KB article.
I suggest you run the System Update Readiness tool and check if the error still persists.

  • The following syntax error occurred during parsing: Invalid token, Line 1,

    Hello Experts,
I hope someone could help me. I am trying to create a MDX formula in Account dimension (Cuenta).
When formula created use "Iif" syntax, system give the following error:
      - [CUENTA].[H1].[#X000] Parser: The following syntax error occurred during parsing: Invalid token, Line 1, Offset 15, [.
My Account dimension (Cuenta) has 3 parent, and the formula introduces is:
    'Iif([Cuenta].[H1].[BLOQ_FASEC]<0.5 and [Cuenta].[H1].[BLOQ_FASEC]>-0.5,0,[Cuenta].[H1].[BLOQ_FASEC])
    We try another syntax
    'Iif([Cuenta].[BLOQ_FASEC]<0.5 and [Cuenta].[BLOQ_FASEC]>-0.5,0,[Cuenta].[BLOQ_FASEC])
    But same error persist.
    Could you have any idea?
    Thanks

Can you check into dimension properties what is the size of FORMULA propertiy?
Make sure is bigger than number of chars from your formula.
Do you have multiple hierarchies for CUENTA?
The formula which you mentioned it has to be into column: FORMULAH1.
Also make sure that your formula doesn't have an end of line at the end. That can cause again problems.

  • How to find the List of Errors occured while Upgradation

    Hi All,
I am working on Upgrade Project from 4.7C to ECC 6.0. I need to find out the list of all errors occured custom objects while doing Upgradation. I heard abt tool Uptimizer but our company is not using that tool, is there any other way to find out the list of errors.
Can anyone please give me some suggestion how to proceed further tht would be great help.
    Regards
    Yathish

Most of the development issues can be identified by SAMT and UCCHECK in the upgrade sandbox. There may be a small percentage of runtime issues not identified but they will be covered during the testing phase.

  • "The installation failed" error message during software install.

When trying to install software, I get the following error message:
    "The installation failed"
"The installer can't install some files in "/". Contact the software manufacturer for assistance."
I am attempting to install a 3rd party (Gutenprint) driver.
I know the software isn't corrupt because I installed it on another MacBook Pro.
The Mac I am trying to install it on (both MacBook Pros) are running OS X Yosemite, but that doesn't make any difference. I got the same message when it was running  OS X Lion.
    Any suggestions?

    Try following steps:
    Delete the following preferences folders:
         a) ~/Library/Application Support/Adobe/Acrobat/
         b) ~/Library/Caches/Acrobat/
         c) ~/Library/Caches/Acrobat/
         d) ~/Library/Preferences/Acrobat Distiller Prefs
         e) ~/Library/Preferences/Adobe/Acrobat/
Here ~ represents your home directory.
Then Goto Applications Folder, If Acrobat folder or application is present there then delete it,
Empty your trash, Restart the machine and then reinstall the Acrobat.

    Hello, PriestessJeanann.
Thank you for visiting Apple Support Communities.
Here is an article I would recommend going through when experiencing issues with mail.  The usual fix would be to delete the email account in question and add this account via the preset AOL option.  I would also recommend checking with your email provider for security procedures such as two-step verification as this could cause this issue.

  • My Macbook Pro runs VERY slow when unplugged. The battery charges and runs ok. Ran an SMC reset (no success), Safe mode (did not work), and hardware check (came back ok). What can I try next to fix this?

    Hello all,
I am new to posting on this forum but I really hope that someone out there can help me out. I have a 13" MacBook Pro, 2.53 GHz Core 2 Duo, 4GB 1067 MHz DDR3, running OSX 10.6.8. My problem is that when I unplug the laptop form the charger and run it on the battery, the computer becomes unresponsive to any commands at all. It basically really slows down to a crawl. Even when rebooting it will take 5-10 minutes or more to do so. The odd thing is, when it gets plugged back in while any of this is going on, within a minute or two it works perfectly. It has been in a mac authorized repair shop for 7 weeks and has had a new logic board and a new hard drive replaced. The battery was tested and charges fine, holds a charge when unplugged, and the system profile shows the battery at Normal. Recently, many knowledgeable mac enthusiasts gave me tip that might help. Here is what I did: Ran an SMC reboot (no success), rebooted the computer under safe mode then unplugged it to test (no success), and ran a hardware test on the install disk (showed hardware ok)
I am at a loss as to what to do next. It has become impossible to use this laptop for my classes when it is unplugged. I am about ready to just go buy a new one, and call this one a goner.
I am hoping someone reading this can help with any other ideas on its problem. Help? Anyone?
    Steve

    LPBassman,
since the tech in your IT department was able to copy your daughter’s data from her MacBook Pro’s internal disk, I’d suggest completely erasing the internal disk (using Disk Utility in Recovery mode, reformatting it with a “Mac OS Extended (Journaled)” filesystem), reïnstalling its original version of Mac OS X (either Snow Leopard from the grey Mac OS X Install DVD if it originally came with two grey DVDs, or Lion via OS X Internet Recovery if no grey DVDs originally came with it), running Software Update to get it to 10.6.8 or 10.7.5 respectively, reïnstalling Mavericks, running Software Update again to get it up to date, and finally restoring your daughter’s data.

  • What is the proper method to do an internet recovery.  I tried Command R and it did not work.

I am having problems with my iMac, I cannot log on.  I tried doing the internet recovery with the assistance of Apple support but when it went to restart it had the same problem as I have when trying to log in.  (Mostly gray screen with one login id showing and a restart button on bottom center.)  One screen that the support person got me to showed options which included the internet recovery as well as other options, like Time Machine.  How do I get to that screen?  I would like to try that before I move on to the next step.  I don't want to try the Internet Recovery because it takes a long time with DSL and I am getting older and may not have enough time for another one of these.  THanks,
